Quality is inconsistent (hemed pants fell down in the dressing room trying them on after completion, had to be redone.) Deadlines are not met even when rush fees are paid to ensure completion of (simple alterations) in a 2-week turn around time. Waiting for 40 minutes after hours for them to finish my pants after arriving at 5:20 PM to find 2 of 3 pairs not done on day of deadline with paid rush fees. I know everyone in Westlake uses Ace on Walsh Tarlton but they do not manage their workload properly or are able to finish the end of the day before a deadline to ensure pick up times do not have to be after 5pm. No apology or refund of rush fees offered. Work not started on 2 pairs of pants until after I arrived at 5:20 PM. Needed for a funeral which was communicated up front at time of drop off. Will take future alterations elsewhere. read more

I got married April of last year. I was trying to avoid posting but never heard back from this location or the company. My beautiful dress was not altered correctly and caused cuts during my wedding on my sides from the boning as well as significant time trying to fix the issues with my dress. two times I've used this location and two times they have botched my items. Today I went back for the SECOND time to pick up a dress that was supposed to have boning in it. They forgot the boning the first time, the second time they put it on the wrong side, and now I'm hoping on my third pick up it will be correct. The times they give for when an item will actually be ready are about a 1-2 weeks after they tell you it will be finished. Both experiences I have had here were terrible and now I have learned not to trust them with any alterations. Please save yourself the headache and do not use them. read more

Astonishing experience at a professional tailor. Brought in a couture dress ($1300 for a wedding). They assured me they could handle it. when I was told to come pick up the dress, I found a hole they had in the seam, that the hem was uneven, and they didn't reattach the hook and eye. They charged me $130 to take in the hem one inch and lift the shoulder a half inch. At the fitting it was clear the shoulder should not have been lifted (which I said the first time but the fitter was quite argumentative and said it was the only way the dress would fit). When it became clear that the shoulder should go back the way it was, they kept the $130. Paid $30 for rush bc it was for a wedding and the dress was still a day late. Ive never dealt into with someone so aggressive in customer service. She even argued with me about the hole in the seam! Astonished. Wont be bringing any clothes back here, let alone something valuable. read more

Dropped off shirt 4/2, ready by 4/16. No text/call shirt is ready on 4/16. Called 4/19, shirt no confirmed ready they will call me back, never called. Needed it for 4/20. Wife goes to pick up 4/22 10:00am, along with her dress which has been there a month, both not ready. Get a text one hour later, shirt is ready, 20 days. I go to pick up and ask to speak to mgr, am told she is busy. She comes out, I'm given several excuses. After some back and forth, mainly with clerk/daughter I'm given a $20 refund. If they cannot handle the order I will find another place. I will add the shirt fits, like I wanted. read more

I've done some business with this company. They are pretty expensive. They have pretty long turnaround. Customer service is not very good and if you walk in, they might just ignore you while other customers pass you by, maybe it depends on how you look to them i dunno. I asked today if they could patch a pair of pants. They said no, you're just gonna tear it again. And it seemed they said that because i mentioned they ignored me while I patiently waited for 10 minutes wile other customers came and went. Maybe because im a white male? I'm a long time customer at Ace downtown. They're great. I switched to the Walsh Tarlton location recently when they opened for appointments only as covid restrictions were easing. I was happy to see several of my friends from downtown. Vanessa and Mignon took good care of me and my clothes. Perfect alterations every time. Excellent customer service. Thanks. Highly recommended. Edit / update. So now, they have a chain stitch machine at this Ace location. Vanessa told me it was being put together and sent to them. It's up and running. I hate to write a scathing review of a business because accidents or errors happen. This is about reliable pickup date for a garment being hemmed. I came back to Ace after a few years away. This was the original problem - not meeting their delivery date. I tried them about 3 months ago and had the same problem. Tailoring not even started that I had to sit and wait for the item to be done. I was picking up 2 days after the delivery date. I thought 1 more try. Due date is 6/8. Got text not done. Called and told by Fri 6/9 at 3 pm. I called at 1 pm on 6/9. - ready by any chance? . No. 3 pm. Went to pick up on 6/10 and STILL NOT DONE, not even started. I get an apology and but wait 1 hour. Only give them your business if you want to make multiple trips to pick up your garment. read more

The woman at the front has been extremely rude each time, unwilling to answer questions, said it would be weeks before I could get an apt to speak with a seamstress regarding a specific alteration I needed. I went to the Lamar location a few weeks ago with a brand new pair of jeans. They needed the waist taken in ~1.5 inches, and the length brought up ~1 inch. I got a text that they were ready for pick up two days earlier than expected, which was a nice surprise... well I get home with the jeans, the waist is way too tight, and the legs are DIFFERENT LENGTHS. I went back asking if they could at least even out the legs... and they only reimbursed me for half of the service. I barely wear the pants now because they are uncomfortable and do not look as intended. The right thing to do would've been a total refund. I even had to ask for the little refund I did get. Ace charges premium pricing to boot. Unless you are really in a rush, avoid Ace Tailors. read more

I searched around a lot and called places trying to find same or next day tailor services. Ace Tailors on Walsh Tarlton was the only spot that was not only kind but offered me just that. The staff was beyond amazing. In my extreme panic, they helped me through things, guided me on where and how to find fabric, and I was able to get my corset top tailored and ready by the next day for a Halloween photoshoot. (This has been a yearly tradition for me, so it was so important, personally.) I am beyond grateful and would recommend them to anyone who asks. The quality of work was top-notch. I love the location in Westlake which might explain their very high prices. My wife has been several alterations there and I have had some pants hemmed. We also had my daughter's prom dress tucked a little bit to make it fit perfectly. They do quality work but it is expensive. On a more positive note I do love the design of the exterior and it always catches my eye when I drive by. I do appreciate good architecture and love how the colors in the woodwork on the outside show off the craftsmanship and care that they work with doing the tailoring on your clothes. read more

Formal wear tailoring I came to Vanessa two weeks before my Daughter's destination wedding because another tailor (neimans) completely ruined my dress. The dress was complicated and really needed a LOT of love to bring it back to life and I honestly wasn't sure it would be possible to salvage. Vanessa and her team took it apart and completely saved the dress and made it look even better than it originally did. There really aren't words to adequately describe the talent of this team. I brought my wedding outfit to this location 10 days in advance to have pants hemmed and the jacket taken out about 1/4". I was told it would be ready with two days to spare. I called the day before the day it was supposed to be ready to see if I could get it a bit early and they had not started it yet. I figured, okay no big deal, I'm sure they have a plan. The next day, I was in my car on the way to the location to pick it up at the agreed upon time (4pm) and I get a text to call them. They told me my jacket could not be taken out. This would have been understandable if they had told me within the 8 days the jacket was just sitting at the location but now it was crunch time, my wedding was in 2 days. A tailor there suggested adding a solid cobalt blue panel on the OUTSIDE of the navy brocade patterned jacket, insisting that it matched (it did not, not even close) and she said they did it all the time. I was not going to do that so I asked them to sew it back up and I left with a jacket that was not going to fit me for my wedding day, had pin holes in it and no time to get a new one. The one saving grace of this place is the receptionist Sydney who was very cool, calm, collected and kind. She offered a refund for the jacket with no qualms. Also, she marked my pants perfectly to be hemmed and they came out great. I'm sure this place is fine if you're not on any sort of timeline or don't have anything important LIKE YOUR WEDDING to get things tailored for but I would not recommend them. read more

I bought two sport coats which needed cuffing. The store recommended Ace, which was around the corner from the Mall, said it would take "a couple of days" and offered a discount. I stopped at Ace, which was quite busy, but the tailor came pretty fast and measured and marked the cuffs. I was a bit surprised when the charge, with discount, came to over $70 and was told I could pick the coats up in two weeks. My trip wasn't for three weeks, so I thought I was OK. I was told I could pick up after 4 PM 2 weeks out and would receive a text confirming. At about 2 PM on the day I was to pick up the coats, I received a text that they would not be ready for three more days. I was now getting close to my trip and started getting nervous. Having not heard from Ace, I went to Ace the afternoon following the new pickup time and was told they only had one tailor and my work was still not done. The young woman guaranteed it would be ready the next day. This was now one day before I flew out to an important meeting and needed the coats. When I called in the morning, it was still not done. If finally got my tailoring back at close of business on the final day--a full three weeks after I dropped the work off Ace throughout this ordeal was packed with customers. They appear to have taken on more than they can handle. We will not use them again. Need read more

Brides beware... I'm 2 weeks out from my wedding and I paid almost as much as my wedding dress is worth in alterations for a botched dress. Luckily I'm Not a bridezilla so I'm going to rock it anyway but I won't even take it back to fix because I don't trust them. Look at how uneven the hem is, how off the bustles are and how cheaply made the bustles are! Instead of actually hemming the lining of dress, they just sewed it up in once section. Check out pictures. It's terrible. My once beautiful, rounded train is just all over the place in length now. So sad. I wish I could get at least part of my money back! These guys are awesome! I've had two blazers and a pair of faux leather pants tailored here. Each item has been perfect. One of the blazers was pretty old, so they called me part way through the alteration to make sure I was going to be pleased with the work before they finished. They handled real buttons on my sleeves by taking off of the top instead of messing with the holes on the sleeves themselves. Everything was impeccable. read more

The response I just got was unbelievable!! My son outgrew his suit, so I took one of my $600 suits that was like new, but I had outgrown and wanted to have some tailoring done. It was a 43, he wears a 42. I know the shoulders were not going to fit perfect, they were slightly too wide at the top, but his arms are bigger so they still fit further down (I have had about 30 suites over the years--and know how it should fit). I've also brought about 50 items to this location over the last 15 or more years (since they were in the Mall). Most of the time it has been fine (hence the 3 stars instead of lower). I thought it would still be fine to bring in the sleeves about 3/4 inch, and bring in the back (just not right at the waist, etc). I asked if they could bring in just the middle of the back to get rid of the extra slack. I did not want, nor was a complete re-build needed. The person said, "I'm sorry, we only do professional work here." She would not even consider the alterations I requested (I'm not new to this, i often have my suits re-fitted to get them just right--but didn't need it like this, this time). I was shocked. I knew it wasn't perfect--but for a young college kid who only needed something for a few interviews, it would still look just fine. Anyway, I knew what i wanted, I have had this done before and the lady was just flat out rude, rude, rude--I will NEVER go here again. Absolutely unbelievable!
