An Absolute Gem! Excellent Work, Service, and Value! I have been bringing my clothes to Yvette at AA Alterations for over eight years, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my alterations. At this point, she has altered more than half the clothes in my closet! I bring her everything from everyday clothing and work attire to wedding guest dresses, costumes, and even curtains. No job seems too big or too small. Her work is consistently high quality, and she has a wonderful eye for detail. What I appreciate most about Yvette is that she is not just someone who sews clothes; she is creative, resourceful, and an excellent problem solver. Sometimes I come in knowing something doesn't fit quite right but not knowing exactly what needs to be done. She helps me figure out what will look best, taking my proportions into consideration and offering suggestions that make a real difference in how the finished garment looks and fits. She is also reliable and has a quick turnaround, which is another huge plus. Her customer service is excellent, and her prices offer great value for the quality of work she delivers. Finding someone you can completely trust with your clothing is not easy. After more than eight years, Yvette has earned that trust time and time again. I highly recommend AA Alterations. Yvette is talented, dependable, and truly takes pride in her work. She's a keeper! read more

I am leaving this review before the work is done, simply because I came in on a Thursday with an outfit ordered from an Australian boutique that needed multiple complicated alterations in my opinion and I needed them by Saturday. She was so warm so nice so honest about it being a tight timeline and something she would try, but there was just so much transparency and warmth that I immediately felt like this was a great customer service experience. I think she's actually gonna be able to get it done but even if she doesn't her demeanor and willingness to try on such a short timeline meant a lot to me. also the price she quoted was EXTREMELY reasonable and refused my offer for a rush charge. read more

I had a dress shortened for prom and it cos me 90$ which I thought was expensive but I am not familiar with alteration prices for prom dresses, and didn't have time to look around. She did a very good job, and was very fast. She has altered pants in the past for $30 and shirts for $20, always excellent quality of work. read more

Great service, fast service and quality work at an affordable price . Recommend this local business

She is quick and does a great job. She hemmed my skirt where the thread was unraveling.

I needed a bridesmaids dress hemmed at the bottom and the zipper on the back fixed. The owner turned it around in less than a week and the price was reasonable. I won't take my items anywhere else and highly recommend! She did such a great job, I am very happy with the results. read more

I don't usually write a review for anyone however I want to explain myself I don't do reviews much cause I expect the work to be professional . I guess I should explain why I had to do this I felt , I lost a brother by suicide in San Antonie and I was trying to be there but when I looked in my wardrobe My slacks I hadn't taken in and my suit the stitching came loose so I was getting min. between 2-6 weeks wait and here also but she picked up on me being a basket case ended taking care of both pair in less than 2 days and didn't try to charge me more . Nothing ! She must have stayed late to take care of me. Great work as well, I mean I would say above 5stars Thank you for the big heart read more

I brought a dress in to be hemmed with a tight timeline and they got it done early and did an incredible job. I took the dress to Ace Tailors on N Lamar first and they quoted me $138. AA Alterations did it for $38. I never have items altered because I don't want to spend the money but now I will take my items here! read more

The lady was great and friendly.. she did my 2 pants. I'm short and petite.. recommend to go to he store..

AA Alterations is like the Gassane Tailors for women. Yvonne may not have the title of master tailor, but she sure performs like one for women. She's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I purchased a final sale BCBG dress online which I brought in for alterations. Yvonne was honest and said not to spend any money altering the dress and to scrap it, as the waist was too short for my long torso, and there was no way to drop it. As sad as the truth was, at least I didn't spend any more money on a dress that could not fit. She also did a fast turnaround hem on my husband's pants for $12 and letting out room in the waist of his trousers. Gassane is the best master tailor for men in Austin. But Yvonne does a great job on smaller alterations for men as well. read more

This sweet lady knows alterations ! Had two dresses needing waistline and neckline altered as well as hemming. Flawless work! Perfection !! Totally recommend for sure ! read more

I needed my Mother of the Bride dress hemmed quickly as I was flying out in under a week. This place got it done !

I came to get a bridesmaid dress altered, and it was done ahead of schedule and the prices were fair and the work was perfect. She was very accommodating and made sure that I was happy before I left the store. She is great, I trusted her on the length and it worked out perfectly. I have gone back to get another bridesmaids dress, pants and a jump suit altered as well and every time the experience has been fast and pleasant. I would highly recommend coming to AA Alterations for any alteration needs. She was absolutely fabulous and my dresses have all turned out perfectly. read more

I would like to add to the preceding that I have learned to trust that the shop will ALWAYS call me as soon as something is ready. I never have to call them. This consistency and dependability is really appreciated! read more

Came here because of the good reviews and was expecting great service! Not what happened. I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed and let out. When I asked if she could let out my dress because it was too tight on me and she told me "well you could lose weight" As a 20 something year old woman this hit me deeply. I left crying. When I confronted the tailor about what she said she said "I was just joking". This isn't something to joke about to a new customer. Never doing business here again. read more

I had a cocktail dress that had a very deep v that was a little too much. The dress is beautiful and I wanted to make it work. AA shortened the straps and decreased the V a bit and it looks amazing now. Great work, finished ahead of schedule and reasonably priced. I'll be back! read more

I have brought a number of things here now. From a fully sequined gown, to casual dresses and jeans. The proprietor knows fit and form well, and has even shown me that some things don't need to be altered, as I was just styling them wrong. So far, everything she's done has come back exactly as expected. The prices are very reasonable, and she has always gotten my items back to me within the time frame she has set. I've been very happy to find her! Being petite is a challenge, so having a great tailor is priceless. read more

I needed a suit coat and pants let out because I ate too many tacos! She wasn't sure how much she would be able to do, but she is a miracle worker and it came out great! AND she even had it ready way ahead of schedule. Not the cheapest around, but you get what you pay for! read more

I took the dress I'm going to wear to my son's wedding to Yvonne to have it hemmed, and she did an amazing job! I'm so glad because once before I took a long dress to a well-known alterations shop (which I won't name out of courtesy) and one side of the dress ended up at least an inch shorter than the other! Plus, they charged me more money than I paid today. In contrast, AA Alterations did the job perfectly and for a reasonable price. This will be my go-to place for anything I need altered in the future! read more

This place is great and very reasonable. Have had jeans, wedding dress and other dresses altered here. Only complaint is they don't answer the phone or return calls so better to just show up. However she is very responsive and works you in same day read more

Decent prices, thorough job, fast turnaround. I did go in to pick up my dresses and one of them had to be left there for her to tweak a bit more. I definitely wanted both dresses done by the same time BUT I'm so glad she took the time to check her work and now tweak it to be more precise. read more

Yvonne altered my wedding dress in less than two weeks. The dress has 5 layers of tulle and was covered in pulled beading that follows a distinct symmetric pattern. Yvonne sewed beads onto the dress where they were missing and recreated the original pattern perfectly. She also brought up 5 layers of tulle. Yvonne is very flexible and honest about what she is able to complete. read more

My favorite thing about Evon (I may be misspelling her name- but she's the Asian lady that works there) is that she gives VERY honest feedback, has good insight on style vs functionality, her prices are affordable, and she always seems to have outstanding alterations. Now, my input is as a male and the alterations she's made to my clothes. I don't know much about dresses and such. However, she had previously been a huge help when I first started wearing suits. For example, I took one particular suit to her which was poorly fitted on the chest from a previous tailor and, after a 20 minute discussion with her, she said it would be better to just buy a new suit rather than spend nearly the same cost on trying to fix a suit that was too small in the chest anyways. She then then gave me pointers on what to look for in a new suit, where I could go, and even informed me that I could bring it to her to see if it's cost to trailer was worth it, etc. By the end of that particular visit, she didn't charge me a penny even even after I asked to at least pay her for her time. Also, most recently, I had a wedding to attend in a few days of delivering her a recently purchased set of pants and she was able to turn around and finish by the very next day which was an extraordinary help as other tailors normally take a few days. As such, she's definitely worth a full 5/5 stars in my book. read more

I went here to have a bridesmaid dress altered. She was really great to work with and her knowledge and confidence left me feeling really comfortable leaving the dress in her capable hands. Did a great job and in a reasonable amount of time. I will say it was slightly pricey but you pay for what you get! Got one dress altered shorter and it was about $75 and got another one altered to be tighter which was $50. read more

I would never call myself a very well dressed guy. My closet only includes a couple of suits given my daily dress for work consists of jeans and a polo or even t-shirt. But recently, I added a tux to the wardrobe for a black tie event for my wife's work. I brought it to AA Alterations to get hemmed/altered since I'd had good experience with them when they needed to do some work on those previously mentioned suits last year (due to a change in waistline - I won't say in which direction). Both experiences I've had with them were positive ones. They performed the work on time and at a reasonable rate. read more

My go to alterations place. Friendly service, fair prices, and reasonable turnaround times. I brought a dress in for a hem on a Monday and told them I needed it by Saturday to wear to a special event. She told me it would be ready by 4pm on Friday. I got a call on Wednesday mid-day that it was finished. Nice! I like the owner, she is a very sweet lady. My husband has had some suits altered here as well, and also had a good experience. I am happy with this place, and I'll be coming here for all of my future alteration needs. Tip for the wise: there is usually a coupon for 15% off on their website, so take advantage of it. read more

I brought in a pair of suit pants that needed hemming due to the prior alteration coming undone, and upon entering the store I was greeted by a very nice lady who attended to me right away. I explained to her what I needed done, and even though she had another customer in the store, she told me that if I could wait 5 minutes she'd make the alteration right away. Indeed she did just that and when she brought my pants back out to me she showed me the alteration which appeared to be flawless, explained the issue that likely resulted in the prior faulty hemming and then she refused to accept any payment in spite of my objection (it was my first time in the store so I was not a repeat customer and she had/has no idea that I would write a Yelp review for the store). I don't care how long it took her, or how easy this particular alteration may have been for her, she was practicing her craft, which I suspect she's spent ions perfecting, for my benefit and yet refusing to accept payment. Truly classy, exceedingly rare, and wildly refreshing. I'll definitely go back and no matter what the alteration is next time there's no chance I'm not paying her ... this time she caught me totally off guard though;) read more

I learned about AA Alterations through a recommendation from a coworker and they certainly exceeded my expectations. I needed a floor length gown altered for an event in two days and thought that nobody in town would be able to have it ready in time (I had called quite a few other places by this point). I'm so glad I gave AA alterations a try! I dropped the dress off at 1 pm on a Wednesday and received a call the next day at 1 pm to let me know my dress was ready for pickup, a day earlier than I had asked for. The price was also very reasonable for how quickly they finished the dress and the quality of work done. I had no idea how much I'd been overpaying for alterations until now! If you need quick and reliable alterations, I'd highly recommend AA. Also check their website for a 15% coupon! read more

We're coming to Yvonne's NEW location on 2110 Slaughter Ln in the HEB shopping center (get directions). What's there to like?? We're so glad she has extended hours to Saturday 9-2pm. She does some work on premises AND sends some out to trusted partners, usually back within a week. Watch for Prom or Christmas Holiday season rush,, however. She gives a 30 day guarantee if you still need work done on the piece after you take it home. She does both my husband's and my pieces: mainly sleeve and trouser lengths. But for me it can be a bit more complicated with hem and shoulder alterations. Yvonne is very efficient minded and you might have to wait a bit to try on (every time!). Her very smart20-something daughters sometimes help on weekends. Yvonne is a very diligent worker and makes those 'sale bargains' you get at Last Call, look even better on YOU. Not cheap, but very good ! read more
