He is in high demand, and while most of my tailoring jobs with Rivera Tailor have been done in days, don't expect an in-depth alteration (gown, for example) to be done overnight. Be sure to bring your stuff to him as soon as you know you need it! I delayed once on a maid-of-honor dress and he was not able to do it in my 3-week timeline - I think most tailors would have required close to 6-8 weeks for an in-depth tailoring job like a gown requires - so I was sorely disappointed when I got my maid of honor dress back from somewhere else because it was too tight. Some idiots on here are complaining about a quoted price because "In NYC..." - blah-blah-blah. If you're a cheapskate, just say that; don't take it out on this business.

I started asking around about where I could get this dress altered since I am newish to Austin and didn't know where to go. I got referred to the Capitol Cleaners on S. First by a friend who owns a boutique and uses them frequently. Went to Capitol on S. First. I tried on the too-small dress and the lady basically told me there was nothing she could do. She was fearful of screwing up because of the lace on the dress and letting clothes out is a lot harder then taking things in. I was feeling pretty hopeless when she referred me to Cheryl at the William Cannon location. I called her up and she said she would see what she could do and to come in the next morning early before work (they were about to close). Went to Capitol on WC, tried on the dress and Cheryl told me that she would take it out and that the lace was not a problem. She said she has been doing this a long time and would do everything she could before we had to splice up the dress. She said it would take a week (which I thought was pretty quick!) and to come back same time the next week. I came back one week later, tried dress on, fit perfectly and looks great. Total for the alterations was less than $25! Cheap, efficient work, people who care, and a fast turnaround time are going to make me go back here again and again, even if it is a little far from where I live. Cheryl-you are the bomb dot com. Destroyed my coat and refused to take responsibility…read more Brought in a black coat that I've only worn once. When I got it back, there was a literal melted thermal press burn on the bottom--a clear heat mark from their pressing equipment. Instead of admitting to the mistake, they hand-wrote "TORN" on the receipt to try and claim it came in that way. When I went in to address it, the employee claimed they had intake photos proving it was already damaged, but when I asked to see them, she spent several minutes scrolling through her phone and couldn't produce a single picture. Even after I pointed out that melted synthetic fabric isn't a natural "tear," they still refused to refund the $33.40 cleaning charge or cover the cost of the coat. Zero accountability. If you bring your clothes here, inspect them thoroughly before walking out, because if they ruin something during processing, they'll just alter the paperwork and make up non-existent photos rather than make it right.
