He previously refused to give me my sister's wedding dress to take home, that he ok'd for me to pick up for her, and it was already ready. Well following that he sent my sister the text attached. Because I gave an honest review he refused to let me get HER wedding dress for her at all. So she wasn't able to get it until two months later, and when her husband went to get it he was extremely difficult. The name is misleading: I brought dry cleaning in and learned that they don't do cleaning, only alterations.

I've been there many many times since the past 3 years (Cleaning & Alterations) and the more I go the worst it gets. Let me explain. At the beginning when I left clothes to Tom he gave me in exchange a receipt with the date and the amount to be paid... as every cleaner does. Then as time goes by I didn't get anymore receipt and Tom wasn't able to give me an estimate for the alterations but only an approximative date for pick up. So each time I was discovering how much I had to pay when getting my clothes back. The last times have been even worse: I had to go back 3 times to have my stuff back (despite the fact he had my email address to let me know when it's ready), and the alteration's work has been more than botched: - A dress half done with the right side of the waist half inch larger than the left one (Tom: "No, both sides are the same, it is the way you're wearing it." - My God, how can you lie so brazenly! I I measured them when having them back!) - A pants too large for which he only altered the waist skipping the legs (that he had pinned when taking the measurements). Despite this, I left him again 5 alterations to be made: Same scenario: Unable to give a quote but only a pick up date. I sent him an email saying I want to know the price prior you're starting the job. No answer after a week... Not a way to treat way long time customers: This time I'm definitely done. read more

I came to get a suit and sport coat tailored for my wedding. The fitting for alterations looked fine, but now that I picked it up once complete, I cannot even lift my arms when wearing either jacket because they are so tight. I was beyond nervous and worried to leave my wedding dress with a cleaners I've never tried, especially because my dress has a lot of lace detail, fringe, and pretty delicate fabric.. but the reviews seemed promising, so, I dropped it off and hoped for the best. I picked it up two weeks later like he quoted me, and y'all, I WAS AMAZED. He had shown me my dress so I could make sure everything looked ok and it was more than ok, it was PERFECT. Tom is an expert at fur coat repair!!! I took my full length red fox coat to be repaired where many pelts had come loose. He's a master! I was amazed at how meticulously he took the loose pelts, repaired the lining and fixed the way they were attached. Amazing cleaning!!! Brought one daughter's wedding dress here to be cleaned a few weeks after her wedding. Alyssa Kristin dress had wine stains and a very dirty hem, bottom area of dress from fun wedding reception! The dress was cleaned and looks brand new! Excellent job! SOOOO, I brought in my other daughter's wedding dress from TEN years ago that was cleaned after her wedding but when we pull it out recently, it had brown stains all over it. Tom is incredible. He is the only tailor who can hem every single thing I've brought him. I went to 7 other tailors in Austin before finding Tom. He is the only one who does excellent work at an affordable price. I'm sold. From my husband's ripped pants, to leggings, to ball gowns and bridesmaid dresses, he does it all. My husband even commented on the quality of his work. He even fixed the hem and alteration on some Lululemon leggings that Lululemon themselves had messed up. Most recently, Tom remade a ball gown for a charity gala that was a size 10 and needed to be quite a bit smaller. He even added fabric to the bust to make it more modest. I am just thrilled with Tom and his work. He is a perfectionist and I'm so grateful to have found him. As for these bad reviews, I'm not sure if they are from a competitor, but I do find them suspicious. OMG AMAZING!!! I was really, really, really nervous to have my wedding dress cleaned. I had splurged on a handmade custom wedding dress because I wanted to have an heirloom to pass down to my future children or grandchildren. The top half is heavily beaded and it also has a beaded illusion back, neckline, and sleeves and I was terrified that a cleaning would completely destroy it. I waited for two years but I couldn't do nothing forever- my dress needed help. When deciding to splurge on what I was hoping to be an heirloom for future generations, I didn't take into account all of the wear and tear one day of celebration would have on it. My reception took place in part on the grounds of a Polo Field so there was grass, dirt, and God knows what in the bottom hem of my dress. Additionally, a wedding guest had accidentally spilled white wine down the front of me during a congratulatory hug. However, my dress needed more than just a good cleaning, it also needed repairs; when I was dancing, I raised one of my arms up too high and I tore one of the delicate beaded capped sleeves. My poor dress was a mess. Enter Tom the 'Wedding Dress Cleaning and Repair Guru'. He tried his best to calm my fears when he accepted my dress, two lace beaded pillows, two embroidered veils, and one unused (but matching) garter belt to be cleaned. I was still nervous. Three business days later he texted me- my dress was ready to be picked up! I wasn't expecting it to be done so quickly and I rushed over to get it. The dress, pillows, veils, and unused garter belt were nicely wrapped in acid-free paper, resting in a big box with a window so you can see the dress in the front of it. He carefully took out the dress so that I could see his handiwork. I couldn't even see where it had been ripped, spilled on, or dragged through the mud- my dress looks new and sparkly clean! And by the way, the one star review that he got from a jerk named Adnan last week was totally inappropriate. I was there at the tail end of this exchange and saw what this customer was doing. He was extremely rude and talking down to him. He said he wasn't gonna pay if he didn't like the results of the alteration so it better be good. He was a large man trying to get an undersized suit let out so it would fit him. The tailor (I don't know his name) had doubts that he could make this work and adnan was so rude to him saying he wouldn't pay him if he did the work and still couldn't fit into it. I've put about 1/4 of my wardrobe in the hands of SoCo Cleaners and I couldn't be happier with the results! Tom does a great job to take time and fit everything with pins exactly how you want it before taking it to the back to chop it up. I've had him do everything to jeans, shirts, suits, T-shirt's, you name it and he can do it! I've even had him sew additional belt loops on a few pair of pants, there's no job this guy can't do. If you need it in a hurry, you can have him expedite it for a small fee but, when you're in a pinch, he'll get it done. He once turned a suit around to me in two days! He's a little on the higher end cost wise however, that's to be expected with the quality of work and attention to detail he puts into every stitch. MIRACLE WORKER! This is theee place to get your wedding dress cleaned! Two years ago I sent my dress off to be cleaned with a renowned dress cleaning/preservation company. I paid a lot for this service and when I got my dress back, it still had a huge stain across the entire dress. They said they were unable to remove it. I trusted their "expertise" and let it be. I brought a suit here for alterations because it was rated pretty well and was close by. I explained to the owner that the suit was slim fit and it needed to be altered accordingly. I came back a week later and the owner surprised me with $175 bill. I have never paid anywhere near that amount for suit alterations; however, I should've asked his pricing before leaving it there so I begrudgingly paid for it. He had me try on the jacket and was so confident in his seamstress ability that I was sold on his confidence that it was done correctly. I brought the suit home and noticed it felt a little baggy when I tried it on with my dress shirt. I had my girlfriend look at it to see if she felt the same way and we both agreed that the suit was baggy in several places. I could pull my pants at least a full inch from my waste and my jacket sagged on my torso. I was pretty upset considering I spent $175 and it was not done correctly the first time so I took it back later that week. I wore the suit on my next visit to show the owner exactly what I needed fixed. At this point I would've been entitled for a refund; however, I am a nice guy and let him try to fix his mistakes. I made sure this time that he would not charge me for the additional alterations and he agreed. I came back a few days later and tried on the suit. I had workout clothes on so I could not get a proper perspective on whether the suit fit well or not; however, the pants fit well and the suit was much tighter. The next morning I put my suit on and went to work. Everything felt perfect until my manager noticed that my left sleeve was poking out much farther than my right. I like my cuffs popping out; however, the sleeve after the cuff was coming out on the left arm. This is when I realized that the owner had no idea what he was doing. The last suit I had altered was the same exact size I brought to soco; however, it was done correctly the first time for roughly $50. That was by Kim Tailer in North Austin. I was absolutely furious. I brought the suit back for a refund and he became irate that I dare challenge his expertise. He claimed that I told him to alter the suit in the state it was when I brought it back in both times (not sure why anyone would request one sleeve to be shorter than the other nor would want a baggy suit) and that I was trying to take advantage of him. He would not give me a refund and told me to get the eff out. This gentleman and his business is completely unprofessional and unqualified to do seamstress alterations. Please save yourselves from having a similar nightmare as me and do not trust this unstable individual with your garments. read more

Let me start by saying that my dress looks great! Fits perfectly. If that were the only thing to review, they would get five stars. However, it is pretty strange that they are cash only with no ATM anywhere close by. I haven't been to a cash only place in Austin in a long time! Also, I was charged an extreme amount for altering my dress. I could've gotten it done somewhere else for 20 bucks tops. Here, I was charged 65!!! I won't be returning because I simply cannot afford that! I definitely should have asked beforehand how much the alterations were going to cost.
