First time I had ever gone to Ace Customer Tailors was when I was walking around the mall and the jacket I had on had lost a button. Since I was in walking distance I decided to just walk over to this shop to see if someone could fix this for me. They took it from me, of course with my permission, and in less than a couple of minutes they gave it back and said it was on them and that they'd hope they would see me here again. Well I don't really get my clothes tailored all that often but I bought these amazing jeans that were just way too long a few days ago. Because of their great first impression they had given me, which is kindness, I went back to them to fix more of my clothing. Not only we're they very helpful and great at their job, but they did an amazing job in getting the two pairs of jeans to fit perfectly! I don't plan on going anywhere else! read more

Decided to try out Ace's for the first time and it was great. I stopped in to get a pair of pants fixed. They were done in under and hour and didn't charge me! I have had a few different items tailored here over the past couple years. Most recently I was extremely disappointed by the quality of work. I gave them 2 stars (as opposed to 1) because the other items I have had altered were fine (although still not great). First of all, Ace Tailors is VERY expensive. I don't get much tailored so I don't mind the price but do expect the quality of work to be better. Second, their new location has a terrible parking lot. It is small, dangerous and often there isn't even a space. The last couple times I went in, there were a lot of people waiting and not enough staff. As for the shirt I got altered, I was surprised on the cost since it didn't need too much taken in but decided it was fine for the convenience. When I picked up my shirt about a week later, I made the mistake of not trying it on before leaving. I got home and you could not even tell it had been altered. I went back in and after some back and forth the woman I was working with said they would fix it and not charge me. I didn't have time to wait even though she offered to do it right then. I just said I'd pick it up later. I finally picked it up, decided to not even bother trying it on. If it wasn't fixed this time I wasn't going to try again. I got home and it is clear they did alter it but I am still so disappointed in how it looks (which is why I brought it in to begin with). I really feel like I wasted my money. I don't think they know what they are doing when it comes to properly pinning shirts, so that the final product is not fitted well. Definitely not worth the money and I will now be trying to find a new tailor. read more

They do pretty good work, but NOTHING has ever been ready when I've come to pick it up. They have things for a week, and they still can't get them done, and I end up sitting there waiting. Also, a little overpriced for what they do. I miss the location that used to be on Lamar. They did much better work, and were much more organized. read more

My wedding dress needed some changes the week of my wedding (poor planning on my part) and they absolutely came through and made me feel calm, given the circumstances, leading into my exciting weekend. I had the worst expierence at this Walsh Tarlton location. I brought 2 pants in to be tapered from the knee down and the hems shortened to 27 inch inseam. I waited a week, paid $60 and took them home. I realized that they were not hemmed to the inseam I requested and the top stitch hem that was originally there was gone. Instead there was a 3 inch blind stitch plain bottom. Unacceptable. I called, because I live 65 miles from there and they said they would fix it to bring it in. I explained that I was out of town, no problem they said. I brought them in on Saturday and the young lady said, how about you come back Monday. It was a holiday, so it was perfect. I asked, what time? She responded with any time will work, you tell me. Perfect, 1 o'clock was the agreed upon. We didn't come into town until 4 because we had a birthday dinner for our niece. We showed up 4 to pick up the pants, which, were not ready. No phone call, and when I expressed how upset I was because once the birthday was over the tailor shop would be closed and we would be back home. I don't who the lady is that came out from the back, but she offered no help, asking me to wait not understanding that I couldn't. Instead she said I was "fussing" at her. I don't understand how you could have my phone number and not call me. I managed a tailor shop for 10 years, I understand that tailor work gets behinds, but a simple phone call so that I could make other arrangements I don't think would have been too much to ask. But no, I was "fussing". I spoke with my husband who agreed to drive back in to town on Friday (yesterday) to get the pants. Now another week later. And guess what, they still are not right. They still have the blind stitch hem! They are cotton pants, not wool pants!!! I am beyond frustrated and now have to look and pay another tailor to fix their problem. I will not be back to do business there. And I'm out $60. read more

I had a horrible experience at ACE Tailors today. I waited for almost 30 minutes to get a dress pinned and then they quoted me over $200.00 to get it hemmed and taken in at the waist. Then told me it would take over a week to get back. They were rude and not apologetic at all. I guess they didn't care if they had my business or not. read more

I had my wedding dress altered here and WOW! Vanessa did amazing! I bought a dress that is NOT meant for my body type. It was too tight in so many places and way too big in other places. I LOVED the dress but HATED the way it looked on me. After only 3 visits, Vanessa was done and the dress so VERY flattering on me! Everything I wanted fixed with it was fixed! Her and her team were kind, easy going, and fun! My husband had his suit fixed here also and they did a great job. The ONLY small tiny thing that I thought was strange is the lack of professional attire that the staff and management wore. The work they do to tailor your clothes is very decent. But I have to say their prices is very inconsistent. In the last 3 months, I have brought in shorts for them to shorten the hem and they have charged me 2 different prices on the exact same brand and style pair of shorts. $16.50 and $20.50 I understand when businesses raises their prices, but the explanation I received from one of the employees shows that the price change is not known by everyone at the front desk. I couldn't believe it. I took a simple two piece suit in to let it out. I gained some weight after a surgery. Dropped it off Thursday, promised Saturday. Picked it up Monday. The pants were let out properly, but the suit seemed unchanged -- didn't fit at all. Took it back in and was told by Lydia that the jacket could be taken out a little more, but that there wasn't much material to let it out any more. I commented that I wished I had known that BEFORE I paid $50+ for the alteration. To which Lydia replied that she had warned me about that when I originally came in. Which she did not. She specifically checked the pants for available material for letting out, and did not examine the jacket at all. I related my memory of this to her, and her reply was that she SPECIFICALLY remembered telling me about the jacket. She did not. I have a profession where I have to pay very specific attention to what people say. Also, my pants came back with a rip in the side seem. I calmly took back my clothes and left. I was offered no refund. I plan to contact the manager. Update: I spoke with Vanessa, a manager there, who calmly handled my complaint and made an appointment to refund the charge for the coat alteration. Based upon many reviews, I was just unlucky this time and ACE Tailors may still be a go to for clothing alterations. I'll probably go back, but I'll be sure to ask about potential for successful alterations. read more

Yes, I have to agree. I will definitely go back to this tailor location. I had two dresses (one traditional, one Indian) that needed alteration before a wedding and I found their work to be both timely and well done. It was not too pricey, for the work they did, I felt. They were also friendly and had helpful suggestions. While I was there, I saw other people coming in with favorite pairs of jeans to be mended and I can see why. I used Ace Tailors for the alterations for my wedding dress and they did an amazing job! First, I love how accommodating they were to my needs. I emailed them about booking a consultation early in the week and had an appointment on the calendar by that Saturday. They also stay open til 9pm which was really convenient when I could only come for fittings after I got off from work. Second, I really appreciated their knowledge and experience in the area of tailoring. Vanessa and Tiffany (the two main seamstresses that I worked with) definitely knew what they were talking about as they assessed my dress and decided what we'd need to do to it. I ended up getting my dress hemmed, taken in a bit at the hips, added a bustle, and had them re-work all the buttons down the back - and everything turned out exactly as I wanted. The dress fits very well; the bustle is creative and shows off all the pretty, unique details of my dress; and they handled it with attention and care. Third, everyone who works there is so nice and friendly! Lydia, the assistant, was especially helpful during my fittings. Lastly, the price was perfect! For all the work that I got done and all the multiple fittings and appointments, etc. my total bill was only $135! Extremely reasonable and worth every penny if you ask me! Thanks, Ace! My experience was similar to the last two customers. I had taken a pair of pants in to be hemmed. They said they'd be ready Monday but on Thursday they called and said they were ready and please come try them on. I went to the shop and they insisted I try the pants on, which I did. They had not done one thing. I think their previous markings had rubbed off and instead of just admitting it, they had me come in again. Is this a completely new business from the Ace that was at 12th and Lamar??? I don't recognize any of the employees from the 12th and Lamar location. I was disappointed in the work. The correct way to hem pants would have been to cut the excess material and make a new hem of an inch. Instead they just double the fabric up, which made the hem too thick. I could have done that and saved myself $13 + gas for the car!! read more

I brought my new $1200 Canali sport coat here to simply lengthen the sleeves an inch. That's it. They said come back in one week and I did...only to find out they hadnt done my coat yet. They said come back in 30 mins it will be ready and I did. Tried the coat on to discover that they had shortened the sleeves instead of lengthened them. I couldn't believe my eyes...they turned my designer sport coat into a clown coat. They wrote down the wrong directions on the ticket. They said sorry we'll fix it, come back tomorrow...and I did. Tried the coat on again and the cuffs were so stiff that they didn't bend with the rest of the fabric of the coat. They discovered that the tailor had left the thick lining from the first mistake and doubled up the lining on the second attempt, which made the whole portion of the sleeve stiff. They took it back and removed one of the linings and brought it back out. Fixed the stiffness but they cut out too much fabric when they shortened it by mistake...so the cheap lining fabric they used comes all the way up to the end of the cuff. It looks like crap. My $1200 Canali jacket got butchered for no reason. They did not offer a refund. Instead, gave me a 20% coupon. I made 5 trips to this place to have the most basic alteration that exists done and they screwed me. I will never be back and recommend you don't bring anything nice there. read more
