Hella burnt

This was my second visit to Ace Burger, and while my first experience was okay, this visit left a lot to be desired. Here's the breakdown: The setup is pretty basic--there's no actual service, just kiosks where you order, and they bring your food out in to-go packaging. It's mostly a takeout spot, but there are a few tables and chairs for anyone who wants to eat in. The interior is noticeably run-down, which doesn't make for a great dining experience if you're planning to stick around. I ordered the popcorn chicken and the beef wrap combo. The popcorn chicken was decent, on par with what you'd get from other Chinese-style fried chicken places. Nothing particularly special, but still tasty. The beef wrap surprised me with solid flavor, though I felt the portion was way too small for the price they're charging. Now, the biggest disappointment--and the reason for this one-star review--was the Portuguese tart that came with the combo. It was blatantly burnt, to the point where you could smell and taste the char. I love Portuguese tarts and know how it's supposed to look and taste like. The one they served me was 100% burnt! I couldn't believe they served it that way. To make it worse, the combo menu photo shows a larger wrap, two tarts, and a drink, but I only received a small wrap, one burnt tart, and no drink. Overall, there were too many issues to overlook. Between the misrepresentation in the menu photo, the disappointing portion sizes, the burnt tart, and set up, I wouldn't recommend Ace Burger based on this experience. If you still decide to try this place out, check your order before you leave. Street parking.

Food taste good as usual but dine in not preferred. Order thru 3rd party app such as uber eats/DoorDash preferred thru restaurant.

Food 10/10, pricing matches what you get unless it's popcorn chicken. Only issue was pick up no cash

Tried the spicy crispy chicken sandwich and it was solid overall, but not exactly spicy--more of a mild kick. The chicken itself was fresh, nice and soft on the inside with a solid crispy crunch on the outside, which I appreciated. There was a good amount of mayo, but I couldn't really taste much seasoning in it, if any. Nothing mind-blowing, but still tasty and satisfying.

Expensive for what it is. The beef wrap was pathetically small. I like supporting small business but the owner needs to revamp his menu..or hire me a few small changes could make this place worth it.

Don't try this! Horrible taste and cheap packaging. The taste of the oil that they used to fry made me want to throw up! Everything is cheaply made. The crispy chicken came without any sauce. Never had anything bad as this in my life!

I was smiling when I get here. And pissed off after I place the order.server/cook super bad attitude.

Worst service ever!!! You come in with good mood. Come out with anger. Shop was very disorganized. Even menu is dirty. If the owner don't like and care his/her business. Just quit for good!

Quality went down and price went up. Not worth it to come back...hope it will improve. bye bye for now.

If you've ever had Chicken from McDonald's or KFC in China then you will know what I'm talking about. Okay, I know what you're thinking. Why don't I just go to the MCD or KFC in the states? Well, ironically, there's nothing that resembles the taste here. Until now! The spicy chicken leg sandwich from ACE is just heavenly and it makes me so happy to be able to satisfy that craving! Their chicken is brined and seasoned well leaving the meat super juicy with the perfect amount of kick. It's no Tennessee Hot Chicken but it's the best fried chicken sandwich I've had in awhile! I'm usually very picky about how chicken is fried and I can tell you the batter stays together and doesn't leave a oily messy. Seriously a 10/10! I would also recommend their spicy chicken wings. Can't go wrong with wings. Seriously, what's better than great food? A late night snack! If you're from SGV, you'll know that there really isn't much options in the area past 9PM. Luckily Ace Burger is open from 12 noon to 2 AM! Plus they have delivery on Fantuan. Recently, I've seen a few pop ups with similar concept and of course the fatass in me decided to try them all. I've tried Macho burger, ZhiMaTangYuan, and Burger box. I'll save you guys a trip. ACE is still the best one in the area. ZhiMaTangYuan in Temple City is a close 2nd with almost exact flavor and texture but their chicken is flatter and they give less lettuce. I've really nothing bad to say about ACE and this isn't sponsored in any way. I've shared this gem with all my friends and everyone is hooked! Side Note: For English speakers, it is better to order through the app. If you speak Chinese, you can call in or order at the store. Wait time is usually 15-20 mins. Enjoy!

Nestled between a Mexican joint and a car rental sits this hole-in-the-wall. Called take-out (in Mandarin, unsure if you can in English) and picked up my sandwich after they said it'd be ready (5 min). Ordered the spicy chicken leg sandwich. Seems like they made it to order, freshly deep fried before I arrived by the hot oil in the meat. Chicken is amazingly tender, but it can fill out the batter a little better. I wish for almost $9 with tax there was a little more chicken involved. If you're a big eater, one sandwich won't be enough. 4.5 stars for me, but for the taste alone, it's definitely worth rounding up. Chicken does accomplish the taste of Chinese McDonald's. Brought me back to my first bite of Shanghai McDonald's fried chicken. Not much quite like this around, and they're nice folks. Would come back to try the other food items!

Decided to make the journey over to the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) after watching a Fung Bros video where they talked about how ACE Burger was creating fast food items based off of American fast food chains located in China such as KFC and McDonalds. Let me tell you... The drive over here was well worth it. I ordered two items which included the Spicy Chicken Leg Burger and the Spicy Fried Chicken Wings (6). The Spicy Chicken Leg Burger is Ace Burger's take on the Spicy McChicken from McDonalds in China and gosh does it taste amazing. The chicken is fried crispy, is not oily, comes with shredded iceberg lettuce, a nice spread of mayo, and topped off with a nice toasted sesame buns. The combination of all of this was absolutely delightful! The Chicken Wings were also no joke. They were fried to perfection and were extremely flavorful. Besides loving the food here, I do appreciate that they cook the food right when you place the order so you know that what you're getting hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp. Service is a bit subpar here, but anyone who has visited an Asian restaurant shouldn't be shocked. The workers can definitely do a better job in customer satisfaction by for example greeting customers and helping them navigate the menu if it is there first time visiting. I did appreciate that they provided gloves in the order since there wasn't a place nearby to wash my hands. Other than that, the food is amazing and I'll definitely be coming back!

New Orleans Roasted Chicken Leg Burger

The menu at ACE Burger is modeled after fast food items from major American chains but only available in China, so it's certainly American-Asian fusion and it definitely works. Been here twice, the first time to try a few items out, and the second time to get more of the New Orleans burger since that is the best. The New Orleans Roasted Chicken Leg Burger uses a roasted chicken (as opposed to fried), which is slathered in a slightly spicy sauce. This is added to a typical bun with mayo and shredded lettuce, quite simple. I liked the medium-large portion size of the chicken. The spicy sauce was mild spice with an appropriate loading (yet somehow the spiciness changed bite to bite), while I found there to be too much mayo. I would rather let the spicy sauce stand on its own, and it would be a tad less messy. The Spicy Chicken Leg Burger uses fried chicken which had a nice crisp texture to it. This had slight spice incorporated into the breading, and the spice level was different bite to bite. The chicken was on a bun with the same mayo and shredded lettuce. For this burger I thought the mayo was appropriate since there was no other sauce it was interacting with. The Mexican Twister is similar to a rolled burrito using the same ingredients at the New Orleans burger but maybe with extra cheese sauce. It was very saucy inside and had the most spice of any of the items. The size was small, and surprisingly fun to eat.

They call this the Shanghai chicken burger, as their menu attempts to reflect the same offerings from the Mcdonalds in Shanghai. I found Ace Burger featured on a Youtube video and heard great things about the flavors of the Mcdonalds Chicken in Shanghai and Asia in general. I went ahead and ordered the crispy chicken tenders. It wasn't advertised as spicy but boy did it have a kick. I was not ready to receive the mouth burning hot chicken (temperature was piping hot as well, right off the deep fryer) , but I very much enjoyed the quality. 5 pieces of tender juicy chicken breast meat, perfectly fried. A lot of times Chicken breast can be dry or stale, but this was as fresh as it gets. Do expect a wait time as they cook to order so it's not exactly mcdonalds precooked speeds.

What's even crazier is that I've been a diehard bone-in/traditional wings believer, but bb.q Chicken's boneless wings converted me to the dark side. In fact, I will shamelessly admit that I only ever order their boneless wings here after having tried them. Unlike other places' boneless wings, which use dry white meat (an absolute abomination IMHO), bb.q Chicken uses actual dark meat and are actual "boneless wings." The Cheesling flavor is to die for. Get the limited time Buldak Cheesling flavor for a special spicy kick. If you want an alcoholic drink with your chicken, I suggest sticking with beer or bottled soju. Their soju cocktails are pretty weak and have a strange pre-mixed flavor to them.

So to have your employee give me a whole speech at 8:45 about when you close the kitchen and how long I have to eat, is unacceptable, lack of customer service. And then denying service to 4 people at 9:08pm, also doesn't make for good ambiance or service. I paid $60 for 2 people to share a rice bowl and small batch of wings; what would those 4 people have ordered $$$? *change your hours if your trying to close early 2nd the wings have really reduced in quality and flavor, did you degrade or change in quality of chicken; or is that your not following the same recipe? And lastly, and this change I can sympathize with, but I very much enjoyed the yellow danmuji radishes in the bulgogi bowl, so eff those people who asked you to take them out; causing you to decide to no longer include them

In Alhambra, Chicken Bun Bun took advantage of the hype, offering chicken fried in a traditional Taiwanese spice blend. CBB is located smack-dab in central Main St, Alhambra. The flat, narrow storefront and tinted windows belie a surprisingly spacious interior. Marbled tables and mid-century modern upholstered chairs are pressed to half-booth around the perimeter. Framed CBB T-shirts and oversized canvases depicting ingredients deck the white plaster walls. The kitchen is obscured by mustard-yellow subway tile and a pyramid of takeout boxes. Public pop radio and the aroma of fried chicken fill the room. I visited for weekend lunch, and takeout/delivery customers outnumbered dine-in. I opted for a Crispy Chicken On Bun, and my order was prepared in 10 minutes. The chicken patty was reasonably hearty and appropriately crispy, overflowing out of the buttery bun. Yet, the savory-forward sando left me wanting. Specifically, it was missing a tangy oomph; the sliced pickles didn't cut it. Frankly, even just a packet of In-N-Out sauce would balance out this sandwich. The a la carte chicken sandwich was $12 for a filling lunch. CBB's sandwiches fall somewhere on the spectrum between Popeye's and Howlin' Ray's (and, of course, without the outrageous queue). The foundation is solid, but the overall flavor is dull. I could envision returning for a quick lunch, but only if I have some type of sauce to spice up my sando.

One thing I highly recommend is asking for the curry pig skin on the side instead of having it mixed into the noodles. I've found that when it's mixed into the soup, the broth waters down the curry sauce and takes away some of that great flavor. When it's served separately, the pig skin stays coated in that rich curry sauce, and it tastes so much better! I like eating the pig skin on its own while enjoying the noodles and soup separately. You really get to taste the full flavor of the curry this way. Trust me, it makes a difference! As usual the service was great and attentive. Overall, a really satisfying breakfast. Nothing fancy, just good food that hits the spot. If you're a curry pig skin fan, definitely give this combo a try, and remember to ask for the pig skin on the side. That's the way to go! Consistent quality for 10 years and counting…read more The Boat House on Valley Blvd in Alhambra has been around for years, and the quality and flavor have stayed consistent the entire 10 years I've been coming. I 100% recommend it as your quick, go-to seafood boil in a bag. My order never changes: the 1 pound of shrimp, peeled and headless, with the house special sauce at spicy, plus corn, potatoes, and rice on the side. They also have a small selection of beer on draft and in bottles, with a little something for everyone. It's a casual spot with a nautical theme. The wood walls are covered in graffiti and tagging, which is typical of a seafood boil place and never gets in the way of your meal. It is what it is, and if you've been coming as long as I have, it's part of the charm. Sports are usually playing on the TVs, and nothing about the atmosphere is fancy.
