Chicken Katsu Curry Meal
Tom I.

Curry Chicken Katsu was crispy and the sauce was a good thickness, will come back again.

Yanhong X.

Really enjoyed the Chicken Katsu! The outside was perfectly crispy and the chicken inside was tender and juicy. The portion was huge and very filling. Definitely worth the price. Would order again!

A classic staple BBQ in the Pasadena area!…read more GREAT HAPPY HOUR. From 3pm-5:30pm Mon- Friday! The have a fantastic happy hour with half off some of their drinks and half off certain appetizers and entrees (check thier website!). Their corn bread is a must with thier iconic japelpeno jam spread (though its not included on thier happy hour). They have great sides and appetizers, and haven't had one I didn't like! Their baby back, spare ribs, and brisket are fantastic with sauces on the side if you wanted to more BBQ sauce to your BBQ meat! Though in my opinion, I don't need it usually, as the meats are already so flavorful as is! I'd say its great for groups, though a bit pricy, but boy is this good, hearty, fall of the bone, BBQ! The servers have always been great and kind and even when we were celebrating a birthday last visit, they brought out a icecream Sundae with a candle! Very sweet! I talked to a man at the South Pasadena museum and told us that Gus's is the oldest BBQ establishment in California, serving hungry patrons since 1946. They haven't been in business in over 70 years for nothing! Thought it's been a long time, the place is still well maintained and updated so it still is nice and clean, but still keeping its historic core. Come by this meaty institution for their renowned classic American barbaque, with great libations, great food and amazing service with tasty history!

I got the Nashville hot chicken plate and it was actually quite spiced! I am pretty good w spicy foods but I couldn't or didn't want to finish the entire thing bc it was getting to me. But overall, quite tasty! (I probably won't get it again since I want to be able to dig in full but I appreciated the dish anyway.) All the sides were delicious. The portions are nice and big. The soda refills were flowing. The service was great. Everyone was super kind and helpful with ordering. :) There is a parking lot right next to the entrance. There's also plenty of parking around the area or neighborhood.

After having this place's fried chicken wings, I have not been able to have chicken wings anywhere…read moreelse. What's even crazier is that I've been a diehard bone-in/traditional wings believer, but bb.q Chicken's boneless wings converted me to the dark side. In fact, I will shamelessly admit that I only ever order their boneless wings here after having tried them. Unlike other places' boneless wings, which use dry white meat (an absolute abomination IMHO), bb.q Chicken uses actual dark meat and are actual "boneless wings." The Cheesling flavor is to die for. Get the limited time Buldak Cheesling flavor for a special spicy kick. If you want an alcoholic drink with your chicken, I suggest sticking with beer or bottled soju. Their soju cocktails are pretty weak and have a strange pre-mixed flavor to them.

So to have your employee give me a whole speech at 8:45 about when you close the kitchen and how long I have to eat, is unacceptable, lack of customer service. And then denying service to 4 people at 9:08pm, also doesn't make for good ambiance or service. I paid $60 for 2 people to share a rice bowl and small batch of wings; what would those 4 people have ordered $$$? *change your hours if your trying to close early 2nd the wings have really reduced in quality and flavor, did you degrade or change in quality of chicken; or is that your not following the same recipe? And lastly, and this change I can sympathize with, but I very much enjoyed the yellow danmuji radishes in the bulgogi bowl, so eff those people who asked you to take them out; causing you to decide to no longer include them

Golden soup pot had a tangy, chicken broth base with lots of filling: vermicelli, beef, napa cabbage, fish cake, tofu skin. Corn cheese was super flavorful: cheesy sweet corn paired well with the rice and skewers. For skewers I got, beef, lamb, quail egg, king oyster mushroom, sausage, fried chicken skin, chicken wing. My personal favorites were the fried chicken skin and king oyster mushrooms. Ambience of the restaurant was pretty packed on a weekday night. Had loud Chinese music playing. No wait time, lots of open tables, super spacious. Loved that the table had sets of necessities so you didn't have to ask the waiter: napkins, chili powder, water, chopsticks. You order from an ipad which made everything super easy, also had lots of pictures to show the items. Service was great. Friendly waiters that helped us light our soup hotpot again and pack our leftovers! Was super attentive as well. Would overall recommend coming here for skewers. Had lots of variety to order from. Flavorful skewers and lots of appetizers. Looking forward to coming back to try the stinky tofu!

We will not be getting those skewers again and will just stick with the beef skewers. Their ma la tang pot is also incredibly seasoned and full of napa, beef, fishcakes, and noodles. The broth was so spicy and delicious that we got extra broth and packaged it to-go to eat it at home! Best of all, they had BOGO free beers on their menu for a decent price. It was perfect for just the two of us drinking that night, but they have more great drinks on their menu for a decent price. Overall, great food and vibes. Would highly recommend!

If you've never had filipino food, definitely check it out, but if you're filipino, probably just stick to nanay or lola's cooking.
