There's structure or street parking to get here. It can get packed and you'll might have to wait outside. They have reservation for 10+ memebers. There's plenty of seating inside with two floors available. It's decently clean inside. The staff were nice although today seemed like an off day. We didn't get our grill replaced as often as usual so it got quite smokey. And when we did get the grill replaced the server didn't turn it back on or the flame just completely went out. One of our members didn't get his water refilled even when we left their cup out towards the table end. Towards the end it seems like our table didn't get much attention but we at least got the bill on time. The food was pretty good. The brisket and bulgogi were the highlights. The Hawaiian pork belly was hit or miss. There was one more that I can't remember but it had a nice flavor but was way too chewy.

It's been a long time since my family has dined at Gen. Amazingly the prices haven't been increased by a huge amount since I was last here. I joined the waitlist when we were in the parking structure, but when I checked in with the host we were placed in line as though we had shown up, which defeated joining the waitlist. Not sure if this was because it was New Year's Day and busy or an anomaly. It was about a 45 minute wait and extremely busy, but once we were seated the service was overall good. The food we ordered came out relatively timely. They changed our grill. Similar to other reviews, my main complaint is the quality of the meat, specifically the brisket. Not sure what was going on with it but after cooking it just turned into bits on the grill. Seemed like it was a freezer storage issue. The restaurant still has a club like atmosphere, glad the floor wasn't as greasy as other reviews reported. Our overall experience was a 3.5 but I'll round up to 4. I would come back again if I want to satisfy my KBBQ craving for a very affordable price. 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

Finally came around to have dinner here at the Alhambra location. Staff was great & so friendly! The pancake dessert really hit the spot ! 10/10 We ordered premium beef belly, galbi short ribs, pork & short rib fingers (my fav) flavor so delicious (add the salt) right after coming off the grill, yummm.... Makes a huge difference! Would like to try the Ramyun next time around.

My husband and I came here for Saturday dinner. We waited in the virtual line on Yelp and came in when it said our table was ready. It was both of our first times here. The ambiance is very club-like. The lighting is dark and the music is loud. The service was slow and inattentive. When I go to a Korean bbq restaurant, the flow of the food and side dishes need to be 100% in order for me to enjoy and eat a lot. If the flow of food takes too long, it makes me feel full and impatient. That's how it was. We'd order food and it would either not come or we'd have to remind someone passing by to bring it to us. They were out of corn cheese & onions. The side dishes were a huge disappointment for this Korean girl's palette. The kimchi, japchae, soup - they did not taste at all like what they were supposed to. Not authentic at all. The meat quality was decent. Maybe a 3.7/5 stars. The grill needed to be changed way too often. For me, the side dishes are just as important, if not more important than the meat. They have to compliment each other well and elevate each other's flavors but... it was really lacking here. Unfortunately, will not be returning. Suggestions: - A tablet on each table for customers to order their own food would be more efficient than having to wait for a server. This would allow servers to focus on bringing the food. - A call bell on each table. - Both of the above suggestions would not be needed if servers checked on our table more often and if the food didn't take forever to come.

COST: AYCE dinner is $30.95 each Bottomless Cokes are $2.98 each And if you want some Premium meats like we did (marinated short rib) then it's another $20 upgrade each person. NOTE: 30-40 minute wait for a table for two, which was a few minutes longer than estimated initially. Then you've got two hours to eat everything you can. Don't skimp on banchan. Get as much kimchi, mandu, jalapeño, rice cake, salad, etc. as you can. For the main course we tackled beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi (it's not that spicy at all!), garlic chicken, ramyun, and bulgogi fries. Prepared items like ramyun and fries were a tad on the cold side. I noticed a lot of reviews mentioning the floors felt greasy/slippery and they are all true. It's really noticeable so wear appropriate footwear. Long-ish wait, oily floor and some cold fries prevent it from being a perfect experience.

For 21.95 for their lunch special you get a really good value for the price. They have a variety of options to choose from that you wouldn't get anywhere else for the same price. Food is delicious and service is great. They constantly check in on you and are ready to replace the grill once it starts getting dark. Their spicy pork bulgogi is delicious and you really can't go wrong with anything. The only think that I don't like is that if you go to early they don't have any fried options. This is the second time I visited and both time disappointedly I wasn't able to order some of the options I was looking forward to trying out. Was there until 1pm and still wasn't able to try it because their shipment of oil hadn't arrived. Overall i do enjoy coming here but it's disappointing I can't try half the menu because they aren't able to make it despite it being advertised on the menu.

12/28 It's been forever since I've done a review for them. Update time let's go.... Party of 11. We made a reservation . We were greeted immediately and sat at our table. Nice big two tables for our party. Unfortunately, we had a small incident. My mom had fell due to the floors, being fairly slick hurt her shoulder pretty good . Ivan, the manager was amazing. He made sure that my mom was OK and if she needed anything at all, they would take care of it. Thankfully, she was OK and Ivan was amazing and took care of all of our drinks which we had quite a few of them because we ordered 2 pitchers of Beer and 2 Soju and other stuff as well. All was well. We ordered Hawaiian steak , brisket, chicken , spicy pork etc... everything was delicious. Johann G was our server and he was awesome. He made sure that we had plenty of meat and drink and also made sure that my mom was doing OK through out the evening. We all had a good time and good food. Definitely be back again when visiting. Enjoy !!!!

As expected, we knew Gen usually gets heavy foot traffic so we decided to join the Yelp waitlist before making the drive to the restaurant. Got seated right away but in a way I wished we didn't. Was ready to place in our order, but was told to wait for a server. Sat there for a good 20mins before a server came up to talk to us. I honestly can't blame that server, he did his best but it's seems like there was no communication between the hosts/servers. They kept filling up tables before the servers are ready. Wait a good 30+ mins to actually eat. We were starving so avoid hunger, we kept eating a little rice with sauces provided. For the price they be charging for dinner at Ayce, meats can be way better. What we got was flavorless chopped/minced thingy slice meats. The appetizer was cold. We were placed on the upper level and it was freezing cold. Everything needs improvement!

This is a 3.5 star review. I arrived with a party of 5, Saturday, 6ish PM. It was busy but not packed, there was another party of 8 ahead of us but they were seated as we got there. We were greeted at the entrance after about a minute and were seated about 5 minutes after that at a table one the 2nd floor. Our server, Anthony, sat us and explained the menu. He was good but I could tell he was busy. He seemed a little um, neutral? Didn't smile or say you're welcome at all but it's not a big deal, he clearly had other tables to serve. No hard feelings from us. Had to remind him a couple of times for extra sides and water refills but we appreciate his service. Also, our table was clean. The meat quality was good! We ordered bulgogi, thin sliced brisket and sirloin steak, garlic chicken, shrimps - both fresh whole and fried, and some pork belly. All the meats were tender and the shrimps were delicious but your mileage may vary depending on how you cook it. We were lucky to have a great cook taking the grill - my wife! My favorite was the sirloin steak, I must have eaten at least 3 myself lol. The fat was rendered perfectly and it melted as I chewed! The salads they served us were also good, though the first one had some browning lettuce which was off-putting. The 2 that followed were fresh. I'm not sure why they serve such small and few banchan (sides) for a party of more than 2. They literally put one spoonful of mash potato, one spoon of pickled cucumbers, same for kimchi and the radishes. We probably went through 8 rounds of banchan between the 5 of us. If it's just one person I'd argue that they would still be too small, but they are bottomless so thats that. Gen needs to hire a few more people at this location to help refill them more often so that people don't have to wait up to 10 minutes for a new round of banchan. The grill was swapped regularly for a clean grill which was awesome that we didn't have to ask, it was just done. I've eaten at other kbbq places where they NEVER change it unless asked to. Floor was greasy and slippery, but it didn't bug me too much. I had to remind my party to be careful while walking. Overall it was a 3.5 star experience. Minus one star for the small sides and greasy floors, and minus half a star for the indifferent service, not that it was bad but they could have come off as a bit friendlier and happier. I'm sure it's because they're understaffed or overworked.

Went this Sunday 4/26/26 and this time the service from our waiter was not good at all. At first it started off well we received our meat, sides and drinks no problem but then it took 40 mins to get him to come by so we asked a young lady that was there to please help us get his attention. She did when he came by we had asked him to please give us a refill on our drinks ( the refill was requested 30 mins after we were served) he puts his hand up telling me to wait with an attitude. He did the same to other tables not just me and I can confirm no one not even me asked rudely. My receipt says his name is Abel. After the long long wait Kethan (I hope I spelled his name right) he was the BEST!!! Very polite & very professional. He served us until we left. We have never had any issues here every server we have come across have always been excellent. We were disappointed because we went to celebrate my best friend for her bday and we ended up having a not so cool experience but once again thanks to Kethan he made it better for us so thank you very much young man! You deserve the 5 stars!

Honestly, I'm writing this review in the restaurant itself. I give it a zero out of five stars that we got sat pretty fast. The service was absolutely terrible. I had to keep reminding my waiter to give our food and what we ordered because he would've forget it took at least 15 minutes to get a fork and I had to cancel some of the food because it was taken too long and we were already done eating they didn't bring any sauce or drinks even after I kept asking about them constantly literally the worse my server would attend other tables but would just ignore ours which wasn't okay

I am genuinely thrilled to have such an upscale, quiet, and relaxing restaurant right here in my neighborhood. You can truly taste the chef's passion and dedication in every dish. Every time I bring friends here, they are absolutely amazed and delighted by the flavors. We ordered quite a few dishes today. The highlight was the Chilean Sea Bass. The chef served a massive, beautifully thick cut--which is actually the hardest to execute. If overcooked even slightly, Chilean Sea Bass becomes dry and tough. But the timing here was absolutely perfect. It had a gorgeous, golden-brown exterior, while the inside remained incredibly moist, tender, and delightfully springy. The seasoning was spot-on and never overpowering; it wasn't too salty, perfectly preserving the natural, fresh flavors of the sea. We also had the Chicken Bowtie Pasta. I typically avoid chicken dishes at restaurants because they often turn out dry and lack the rich aroma you get from beef or lamb. However, Sage's chef elevates chicken to another level. Rather than using the traditional Cantonese technique of quickly flash-frying in oil (which yields a smooth texture but sacrifices the natural meat aroma), the chef here expertly pan-sears the chicken over extremely high heat for a short time. This creates a deliciously crisp exterior that locks in all the juices and rich flavor. Tossed with perfectly cooked bowtie pasta and cheese, the result is so flavorful and well-balanced that we simply couldn't stop eating! Another great thing about Sage is their incredibly generous portion sizes--we left completely satisfied! We finished our meal with a great cup of coffee and the chef's handmade Tiramisu, drawing a perfect, sweet close to our evening. Highly recommend!

Ordered the chinese cured meats claypot rice and was warned it would take about 7-9 minutes. Not a problem because we all know it takes time. When I got my food, the older couple at next table over asked what I got and kept eyeing it. Gave it a couple swirls of soy sauce, heard it sizzle, and started digging in. We all know the crispy rice bits are the essence of the dish and it was perfectly crispy without being overly burnt. Also scraped off easily. There was a good topping to rice ratio. I knew I liked it when I found myself eating a little more than I usually do. I can only speak for the claypot rice here and it's def comparable to Chong Yuen Fong's. We ordered the shrimp rice noodle roll, Hainanese chicken rice, claypot rice with preserved meats, roasted duck wrap roll, and a beef belly and broccoli stir fry. Honestly, every dish was delicious. You can tell the flavors are traditional and made with care. The one that really stood out to us was the claypot rice. The bottom layer of rice was perfectly crispy and that soy sauce they use is crack. It soaked into the rice just right and gave it so much flavor. Definitely the must order item in my opinion. Service was excellent. It's a true mom and pop shop, which made the whole experience feel personal. The owner took her time explaining the menu and kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Her husband is the chef and even came out to ask how everything tasted. I told him it reminded me of eating in Hong Kong and he just smiled. They both seemed genuinely appreciative, which made the meal even more special. I love supporting small family owned spots, especially when the food is this good. Parking can be a bit challenging since the lot is shared with a supermarket and other restaurants. The ambiance is a little outdated but totally acceptable, and the noise level was moderate so we could talk comfortably. Definitely coming back to try more items on the menu. If you're looking for authentic Cantonese flavors, this place is well worth a visit.

Because once seated at the table, I spotted a staff member showing a live crab so big and rugged looking it could have been part of a prehistoric lineup. We whetted our appetite with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, and then the food started coming out. It was a veritable feast. One that put some of the wedding banquets I've attended to shame. Every dish was superb, but if I could only choose half, these would be my favorites: -Braised Morel and Chicken Soup -Salted Egg Fried Shrimp -Vietnamese Style Filet Mignon -Salted Fish, Chicken, and Tofu Hot Pot -Vietnamese Style Black Pepper Fried Fish with Basil -House Special Vietnamese style lobster with noodles The runners-up: -Szechuan Fried Free-Range Chicken (Bone-in) -some kind of pork chop -Lotus and Wood Ear Stir Fry -Choy Sum Stir Fry -Steamed Garlic Alaskan King Crab The Hong Kong egg waffle dessert didn't quite land for me, making it the lone outlier in an otherwise spectacular spread. It was my first time trying Morel mushroom soup and Salted egg fried shrimp, and I cannot get enough of them. I hope to visit again very soon!

We had a mix of older Taiwanese who wanted dishes the restaurant is known for, and others who had different tastes.. Also, they forgot 2 dishes. We informed them after we were done eating--they were starting to clear the table after they brought dessert. We said they could just be cancelled because dinner was over. They went into the kitchen and when they came back they said they had already started cooking them. What coincidental timing! After 5-10 min they brought the two dishes anyway (!). Poor service and likely an outright lie. Why wait until after dessert to bring out two savory dishes? Based on anecdotes from friends it seems like service and food quality depends a lot on who they are serving.

The naan was quite plain, great for mopping up sauce but underwhelming by itself. Wish I had tried the Goshnaan. The special noodles were really tasty. Wish there was a little more meat but the overall serving was generous so can't complain. Good sauce at the end to soak the naan. Not spicy but full of flavor and spices. And finally the special tea. I was blown away. $10 for tea for one is a lot but I am so glad I tried it. The aroma is intoxicating and it tastes just as good. I bought a little tub to take home as I saw someone else recommend. Overal great spot, will be back again with more people to try the polo and goshnaan which other tables had and I was jealous of.

Having lived in Alhambra, I have gone to the previous place in the same place. They had great noodles ans wonton. Boy do I miss that place. Circling back here, we ordered mapo tofu, chicken kababs,, a uyghur naan, and a pulled noodle dish. The spice levels here is nice and the portions are okay. I didn't think the map tofu was a must get. It tastes different than your traditional Chinese version and yet it has heat like the szechuan peppercorns. It came lukewarm like the rest of the dishes. The only server in the restaurant never came back to check on us the whole hour we were there. So we never had refills on water. The best things here were the naan and the hand pulled noodles. Perhaps I would just get those togo if I ever wanted this place again.

Both were very refreshing, and I really loved the sauce on the bakka salmon in combination with the mint leaves. Since I'm a huge seafood lover, I ordered the Thai royal curry with lobster tail, lime steamed Chilean sea bass and the royal crown fried rice. This was my first time trying curry and I found it delicious, I'd love to visit Star Leaf again specifically for this dish. I really enjoyed the texture of the fish roe on top of the fried rice - I've never had something like this before. I also ordered the truffle wok seared noodles with beef (I liked the mushrooms in this dish). For dessert, I had the Vietnamese coffee flan and the pink mekong. I loved the presentation of the pink Mekong, and the various fruits were yummy. As for the atmosphere, it was very cozy and I took a lot of nice photos in the front of the restaurant by the pond. This restaurant would be perfect for a romantic date night or a lunch with the girls. The service was great - everything was very timely and detail-oriented. Everyone was kind and attentive, I felt very welcome.

I was able to find metered parking on the street; not sure why but I didn't need to pay that day! Upon arriving, we were fortunate that there was no wait time and got seated right away. Their menu was quite extensive so we took some time to browse before we ordered. They had a main menu and also a special menu. We pointed out some allergies to the staff and he helped us work around it. The orders came out quickly and he checked in on us frequently to see if we were okay. Great service! Bakka Wild Salmon - This salmon had a lot of things going on for it, in a good way! The combination of flavors felt very refreshing, especially on a hot day. The lime and basil played a big part there. Crispy Short Rib with Lime - Even initially before coming here, this was the dish that caught our attention. I will admit the portion size was a bit smaller than I expected and was even skeptical when it came out. However, without a doubt, this was the highlight of the visit. As someone that loves savory foods, this really hit the spot. The burst of flavors settles in right away. Truffle Wok Seared Noodles - We wanted to pick this noodle dish as a balance to the protein dishes. It did its job but it tasted okay. Not something that stood out. Slow-Drip Vietnam Coffee Flan - I liked the caramel that was layered on the flan, it was crunchy and added a nice texture. It was a nice presentation but tasted okay. Thai Tea - This was my personal drink. It was a standard Thai tea but came with ice cream on top. It was not too sweet but didn't stand out compared to other items. Strawberry Pandan Lemonade - This was my girlfriend's drink. I had a small sip here but found it was refreshing and not too sweet. However, I didn't really get any pandan flavor, mainly strawberry. When it all comes together, it was a good experience. The interior of the story is more dimly lit and felt like a romantic night dinner, despite being the middle of the day. The dishes had a balance of standard and hidden gems. Everything was more than sufficient for two people to share. Service was great and very attentive. Will come back for the Crispy Short Ribs! American Express is accepted here.

This time i almost finished a whole plate to myself. I think if i didnt eat the squid legs i wouldve been able to finish. I still ask for things seared cause seared fish is the best. It looks like they added a dessert menu as well all the way in the back. I wanted to try their clam miso but the salmon plate already came with miso soup and you cant upgrade it. But, it turns out this restaurant is Korean Japanese, which is fine. I was greeted by a hostess when I first entered and it turns out she was also the server. She was nice. The restaurant is relatively spacious and well-decorated. The menu was plentiful. The restroom, though, needs updating, but it wasn't dirty. These were the items I got: Skirt Beef & Tempura Bento ($23): It came with miso soup, side salad, rice, teriyaki beef, tempura, 4pcs of CA roll, & 2 pc tempura roll. I think it's actually big enough for 2 people to share. Everything was decent except for the beef. Next time, I think I'll stick to chicken or salmon. 3.7/5 stars Salmon Roll ($9): This was simple and delicious. The portions are small though. 4/5 stars. There is free parking on site. Overall, I think I'd come back to try other dishes.
