I was very satisfied with the well rounded meal items I chose to dine on today. I started off with a pot of Dolan's Special tea and an Uyghur Goshnaan. Then, came the two different mantas I ordered, one with meat and onions and the other with squash. Both excellent by the way! Next, came a plate of Uyghur Polo and lamb kebab. The skewers in which the lamb kebab were served on were very special and authentic looking, and the lamb tasted very excellent! To be completely honest, I'm sad that I was too full after all that food to order another pot of tea and a slice of honey cake as well as the homemade yogurt that I was looking at in the dessert section of the menu, but I guess that gives me an opportunity to go back to Dolan's again. Maybe the kind man who served me today felt my enthusiasm because he even gave me a complimentary cherry dessert to take home, which I thought was very nice of him. I am so happy that I decided to try Dolan's Uyghur Cuisine. I fully enjoyed my meal for lunch today and I can't wait until the next time I'm in the area to dine there again. If you are interested in trying delicious flavors of Uyghur cuisine, I recommend this place with all my heart. I've had it at several other places but the balance of spices and the chewiness of the hand pulled noodle puts Dolan's above the rest. All their noodles are really top notch. I was worried the lamb slices on the Tower Kabob would be dry or tough but it was neither. The lamb was very tender and the juices were dripping down onto the plate when it arrived. No gaminess at all. The seasoning was also just right with the spices like cumin, a touch of sweetness and not overly salty. My mom absolutely loved the Chicken Skewers. They had just the right amount of char from the grilling and perfectly cooked - tender but not undercooked. They were big meaty pieces and way better than the anemic chicken skewers you can find at many chinese skewer places. When the orders of the lamb and chicken arrived to the table we were hit with the delicous aroma of the roasted meats. The Kava Samsa with pumpkin was also good and quite filling. Savory with the natural sweetness from the squash. If they had been baked for a few minutes longer it would've been perfect. As it was the pastry was slightly undercooked. The only other thing I wish they could so is maybe allow a mixed plate for things like the beef/pumpkin Samsa and the lamb kebab/chicken skewers. They are priced the same, so why not let diners get a taste of both without having to order two orders which would be way too much food for some smaller parties. But that is a small quibble and I guess it'll keep people coming back to try other things.
