This is our favorite Indian restaurant near Alhambra! Even though there is only one staff running the front, he handles everything efficiently and is incredibly friendly. The service is smooth, and the food comes out surprisingly fast. The decor is warm and inviting, making the whole dining experience even better. The food is consistently delicious. Must-try dishes include the garlic truffle naan, saag paneer, samosa, chicken tikka masala, and cumin cilantro rice. Everything is flavorful and well-prepared. Friend picked this place for lunch and it turned out to be the perfect friend date spot :) We both ordered the lunch special - she got the chicken tikka masala while I got butter chicken. It came with a small salad, a bed of rice, soda, and garlic naan for an extra $2. I loved the flavors and liked how it wasn't overly heavy or greasy. Service was attentive and they checked on us multiple times during our yap sesh, making sure our cups were constantly topped off. We must've stayed so long they got restless because they offered us a sample of their delicious gulab jamun with ice cream. Took leftovers home and my family devoured everything. I don't have indian food often but might be exploring it a bit more now that there is a good indian spot nearby! read more

For the table we shared panipuri, garlic naan, and saffron rice. It was my first time having panipuri and it was delicious! I personally liked the red sauce more than the green sauce. The green sauce was a bit too sour for me. The chicken saag was delicious! The chicken was tender and juicy. I also really liked the paneer tikka masala. The paneer did not have a rubbery texture which sometimes it does at other restaurants and the tikka masala was so flavorful. I would get the paneer tikka masala again! Oh, Delhi Belly, you've been on my list for YEARS - every time I walk by Main St, to be precise, which is easily over a dozen times a year. I finally stopped by with a friend, and we enjoyed their garlic naan, basmati rice, lamb vindaloo and chicken tikka masala - both spicy. Our server asked us how spicy; of course, we went for spicy. Now, he didn't hold back... he double-checked just to make sure. This would be a 7-8 out of 10. But we can handle spice, no problem! Meanwhile, we enjoyed the dimly lit, calm, and relaxing interior. There was a good number of decor, but it wasn't distracting. What's nice was on quiet weekday nights, there isn't much noise, and you can genuinely enjoy conversations. Once our entrees arrived, we agreed that they were remarkable. The meats? Tender. The base? Tasted tomato based, creamy, and flavorful. At first, we were worried about quantity, but if there's one thing that I've learned about Indian food... the tummy will be stuffed! A few bites later, wowee, that is SPICY! Our server was nice but more relaxed and we needed to flag her down a handful of times. Food took a bit to come out even with being the only table there. Still, the food was delicious. Panipuri - pretty large and beautiful presentation! It was an exercise getting it all in one bite but the shot was the perfect amount to fit in the puff. The potato mixture was nicely spiced and overall the bite was really delicious with different flavors and textures. Signature butter chicken - my go-to and this one was tasty - very creamy, tender chicken (dark meat). We did ask for extra spicy and it came out mild is our only critique. Cream cheese chili naan - so savory and cheesy! We really liked this take on naan and the ratios of cream cheese and chili were perfect. Lamb dumplings briyani - this was probably why food took a minute but this dish is worth it. The lamb is baked with a naan covering and come out piping hot. Inside is a little treasure trove of rice and tender lamb. The bread itself doesn't have a ton of flavor but it was actually perfect dipping with the butter chicken. I like the comfortable ambiance of this restaurant - my group and I chatted for a long time over dinner! Service was nice and answered our questions effectively. I do like how the curry dishes are garnished to be more distinguishable (flowers on the tikka masalas and the ginger on the vindaloo). It's a very smart choice! The tikka masalas are classic dishes that you can't go wrong with. I recommend the vindaloo to those who like spicy food. Unfortunately, my spice tolerance wasn't high enough to truly appreciate it, but my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed it! The mimosa felt like it had more champagne than orange juice in my opinion, and the sexy fries were okay. The house sauce and mint chutney were flavorful, but it's not a dish I would order every time. The pani puri was quite salty, particularly the onion chutney. The tamarind chutney was tasty. The lamb dum biryani was well balanced and flavorful. As mentioned in another review, the dum makes for great dipping in the tikka masala sauce. I also enjoyed the tikka masala; flavorful and nicely seasoned. It was great that they served raita on the side; it really helped to balance and mellow the other flavors. The portions were very generous for the price. Love this place! Everything we ordered was amazing. Visited with my boyfriend and we got a good variety of food for $75 with tax and had tons of leftovers. My favorite dish was the chicken korma which was very creamy. We also got the non vegetarian tandoori sampler which was amazing for the price and very filling. The only thing I would skip on next time is the paneer pakoras but I think I just wasn't the biggest fan of the dish in general since I like dishes with meat more. As for the service, it was amazing! Really enjoyed having lunch here. We got the lamb tikka appetizer plate and chicken tikka masala lunch special. Some of the pieces of lamb were a little bit tough and dry, but the other pieces were nice and juicy and tender. Another part of the restaurant that I really appreciated was the interior decor. From the outside it looks just like any of the other restaurants on Main Street, but on the inside it's beautifully appointed with well thought out lighting and a very aesthetically pleasing theme. We ordered but the food took awhile to actually arrive. There was only one waitress and there wasn't too much staff but you can tell everything was freshly made. Very nice of them to give us free samosas because we had to wait a long time (probably 30-40 minutes before our food came). I got these items. Garlic Truffle Naan - A must get if you're getting some type of curry. Naan isn't complimentary here but it's worth adding it on. (5/5) Saffron Rice - Rice does not come with the dishes so adding rice is a must. Saffron rice was tasty selection but they also have many other types of rice. (4/5) Samosa - A classic samosa with a small salad and two different sauces. It's a good appetizer. (4/5) Lamb Vindaloo - Perfectly cooked lamb that was pretty tender. Flavors were good but be warned this can be a bit spicy. Enjoyed it. (4.5/5) Tandoori Cornish Hen - This is so unique because how often can you find Cornish hen at a restaurant. Heads up for Spicy and non spicy lovers- if you love spicy and looking for heat get the Lamb vindaloo. If you don't eat spicy do not get it! Their version here is not just regular spicy but REALLY spicy. I wish Uber eats menu had a spicy note next to the item but it did not. I went in having this dish before at other places but didn't expect this level of spice and I love spicy and can tolerate it pretty well. It spicy enough where I can't eat anymore after a few pieces, sweaty, throat burning... it also has a tangy flavor to it that I personally am not a fan of. I'll stick to the other curries next time! I love this place. My husband and I frequent this Indian Restaurant, about once every two months. There is nothing we have tried that we didn't like we also introduce this to our friends and family and it's always a hit. The food is 10/10, the service is great now (old waitress would forget items, but she was friendly), and they play music and tv while you dine so I would say the ambiance is great as well. It's casual, well lit, and colorful. The restrooms are clean (which nowadays is not the standard). #13 for 2024 I want to come back here soon. Located dead center downtown Alhambra by the corner of Garfield and Main this hidden little gem packed many delicious delectable dishes. I asked my friend to find a place to eat. I told her should could decide but she gave me the choice of cuisine. We ended up here for lunch on a Tuesday. Entering I was impressed with the upscale decor. Very clean, inviting and softly pleasing to the eyes. The friendly server said we could sit anywhere. Menus and water were brought over. The whole menu looked good many items I was familiar with and many more I was not. This was going to be interesting. We finally settled on $10 panipuri, $7 classic samosa, $16 signature butter chicken and $17 fish moilee. I also ordered $5 garlic truffle naan and $4 saffron rice to accompany the main dishes. We both wanted a nice drink. We make lassi many times at home. However, my friend was curious what a rose lassi would taste like. I described it and told her I wasn't a fan. She ordered it any way. She didn't like it. I enjoyed my mango lassi. I let her taste it and decided to have one for her self. The panipuri was the 1st to come out. I had no idea what this was but it was very pretty. Very peculiar how the crispy semolina puff held the potato spiced mixture decorated with beautiful flowers sitting atop small parfait glasses. The glass held alternating tamarind water and cilantro masala water. I still couldn't figure what to do. This must happen often because the server came over smiling asking if we ever had this before. I never seen this before. He explained you pour the liquid in and pop the whole thing in your mouth. I don't know if my mouth is big enough but here I go. It was definitely a unique fun experience that we enjoyed. And... it was so delicious. I would come back for this alone. These were some of the biggest samosas I've seen. Happy to seen the greens to eat with they were mouth watering good. The signature butter chicken is tandoor roasted boneless chicken with their signature butter gravy. I've had this dish before but that signature butter gravy took it to a whole new level. This went well with the garlic naan. The white fish was in a coconut, tumeric, curry leaf gravy for the fish moilee. Very rich and delicious another winner. I couldn't eat too much of this but I wanted to. The food here is delicious but their service not so much. The food is 5/5 but the service is would say 2.5/5. They are very slow at doing everything. It took awhile for them to get a highchair for my baby. Then took a while to give us water. And the food took 30 minutes to come out. At least the food was freshly made and delicious and worth it. If they just give a warning that it takes that long, then guest would be more aware. Here are the foods that we tried and everything was delicious. Panipuri - It's such an interesting apperitizer. So I came finally here twice and have enough information to write up my observations. First off, the location is nice - they are right off Main St with plenty of street parking and structure parking around and is conveniently close to other points of interests like Afters ice cream! Secondly, the menu offers an extensive list of typical Indian restaurant dishes from tandori to curry, but what makes them shine and most interestingly is their items fused with American cuisine. The Pesto Chicken tandori and Tikka street tacos stood out to me. The food here is tasty! The butter chicken and tikka Marsala are best paired with the saffron rice and garlic truffle naan. All extra for sure but you know I'm paying for the extraness. I also highly recommend the Panipuri starter, which is typically a street food item in India, but that they have elevated here and presented as a tray of shots! It feels so LA like, I'm not complaining! However, it saddens me to bear the news why I feel this place isn't a 5 star - the service is strangely inattentive here. Both times I came to eat, they forgot to give us water and drinks so we didn't get them till nearly the end of the meal. This happened with two different wait staff members! Are they just reluctant about using cups? It wasn't busy in both times I've eaten at the establishment either. Getting the bill was a troublesome too, and we had ask for it twice. On the other hand, they leave you to your meal peacefully, so I think introverted people would be happy to eat here. Overall, food is interesting and tasty. Stopped here for a quick lunch and ended up longer than expected. It took them 20+ minutes to get us our drinks (ice water and two fountain beverages that came with the lunch special). Another 15 minutes or so to get our food. Total 25+ minutes. Although we came on a weekend, it wasn't busy, so it shouldn't take that long to get two lunch specials and simple beverages. We also added a side of Parmesan fries which took them 25 minutes or more. If we didn't ask to cancel, we would still be waiting. And their excuse was "we have a rush," with only a total of 6 tables lol. Food tasted like something you can get from Trader Joe's and just heat it up. I had better Indian food. The fries couldn't have been worse. You can taste that it's pulled from a grocery freezer and tossed in the air fryer (which took them over 25+ minutes) to give us. $16 for a lunch special with a beverage might sound like a deal. But not at this place. It's served in one of those metal compartment tray with a handful of lettuce tossed in dressing, 5 small slices of naan, maybe two laddle full of butter chicken / chicken tikka marsala, and one and a half scoop of basmati rice. They could be a bit more generous with the amount of food for that price. Service was horrible. The waitress wasn't attentive at all. We had to get our own silverware and napkins. And when asking for three plates, she only gave us one. lol. I don't know if it's because we didn't order as much as they expected us to order for a party of three, but I felt the bad service was due to not ordering more food. But I am glad I didn't order more food because it didn't live up to the Indian food I had. I have been to many Indian restaurants/market eateries locally and this is my new favorite. It is conveniently located in downtown Alhambra and the perfect spot after a movie across the street. The dinner menu portions are amazing especially the protein to curry ratio. Most places are cheap with the amount of protein however Delhi Belly easily feeds two with one order and all sides can be shared easily also. They also have a $16 lunch special that comes in metal trays and once again it's a great deal. Everytime I have eaten here I have had to take my leftovers home. Classics such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Buttered Chicken and the Chicken Korma are amazing. And the staff are so pleasant. I really love this place and the music they play is definitely a great vibe.
