I was interested in this place because I really miss KFC in China. The menu outside looks like it was copy-pasted from a Chinese McDonald's or KFC, with even the same menu item names in Chinese, like the McSpicy and New Orleans chicken sandwich. I've seen people describe restaurants as "no-frills," but this place takes it to the next level. The tiny "dining room," if you can call it that, has a single table with 4 chairs, and there is a standing table by the window with a single stool. There is a tablet where you can order and parts of the "dining room" are used for storing restaurant supplies like utensils, and there are two industrial refrigerators full of chicken marinating. At least there's air conditioning. This place is primarily a takeout operation, and my friend and I were the first two dine-in customers today. The parking lot is a bit hidden in the back and is quite tiny, but again, we were the only dine-in customers. The old lady (seemingly the owner's mom) was very sweet and had me use the bathroom by going through the kitchen. You can see the whole operation, I guess. Despite the very... utilitarian dining room and somewhat cumbersome layout,, the food was excellent! Among all the different Chinese KFC clones that have been opening up the past few years, this is the closest to a Chinese KFC chicken sandwich. The chicken filet was thick, crispy, and juicy, and the bun was toasted to perfection. The owner even gave us some fries on the house, which were impressively crispy without being hard - almost as if they were fried in tallow. They probably were, but I'm not sure and forgot to ask. The egg tart almost had the taste of the KFC's authentic Macau egg tarts (they bought the OG recipe, so) but lacked sweetness. The texture was on point but even as an Asian, it was not sweet enough. Compared to Macho Burger, at $10.99, you get an additional can of Pepsi and an egg tart for $1 compared to just the chicken sandwich at Macho Burger for $10. Pretty good value. Amusingly, we were provided plastic gloves, the type you would often get at fried chicken places in China, despite ordering sandwiches. As my friend and I were enjoying our lunch, there were several takeout orders and orders picked up by delivery drivers. Pros: I stopped by to get a burger and as I was about to place my order on the kiosk the employee told me he would take my order. I wanted to use my card but he said it's not working so I had to pay cash. I only ordered the Spicy Chicken sandwich as he told me that was the most popular item. I received my sandwich and began to eat it at one of the few indoor tables. This sandwich is one of the best I have ever had, it was truly delicious and at 10 bucks not too bad. This was my second visit to Ace Burger, and while my first experience was okay, this visit left a lot to be desired. Here's the breakdown: The setup is pretty basic--there's no actual service, just kiosks where you order, and they bring your food out in to-go packaging. It's mostly a takeout spot, but there are a few tables and chairs for anyone who wants to eat in. The interior is noticeably run-down, which doesn't make for a great dining experience if you're planning to stick around. I ordered the popcorn chicken and the beef wrap combo. The popcorn chicken was decent, on par with what you'd get from other Chinese-style fried chicken places. Nothing particularly special, but still tasty. The beef wrap surprised me with solid flavor, though I felt the portion was way too small for the price they're charging. Now, the biggest disappointment--and the reason for this one-star review--was the Portuguese tart that came with the combo. It was blatantly burnt, to the point where you could smell and taste the char. I love Portuguese tarts and know how it's supposed to look and taste like. The one they served me was 100% burnt! I couldn't believe they served it that way. To make it worse, the combo menu photo shows a larger wrap, two tarts, and a drink, but I only received a small wrap, one burnt tart, and no drink. Overall, there were too many issues to overlook. Between the misrepresentation in the menu photo, the disappointing portion sizes, the burnt tart, and set up, I wouldn't recommend Ace Burger based on this experience. If you've ever had Chicken from McDonald's or KFC in China then you will know what I'm talking about. Okay, I know what you're thinking. Why don't I just go to the MCD or KFC in the states? Well, ironically, there's nothing that resembles the taste here. Until now! The spicy chicken leg sandwich from ACE is just heavenly and it makes me so happy to be able to satisfy that craving! Their chicken is brined and seasoned well leaving the meat super juicy with the perfect amount of kick. It's no Tennessee Hot Chicken but it's the best fried chicken sandwich I've had in awhile! I'm usually very picky about how chicken is fried and I can tell you the batter stays together and doesn't leave a oily messy. Seriously a 10/10! I would also recommend their spicy chicken wings. Can't go wrong with wings. Seriously, what's better than great food? A late night snack! If you're from SGV, you'll know that there really isn't much options in the area past 9PM. I ordered takeout from this spot once, it surprised me how I could find Chinese KFC here in the US which by the way, much better than the American crap. However, I'm not impressed with the food overall. The burger tasted like someone went to China, bought a burger, fly back with it, and after a week, it's sold to me. It felt dry and I honestly didn't feel well after eating it. I need to go check their kitchen and make sure. The wings are ok but again didn't feel fresh, the bones are all pre-cracked for some reason. Even the egg tart is obviously straight out from a fridge, which is a shame because people from other countries actually would have high hopes for this spot, but all they will get is probably disappointment. If you're gonna make ''Chinese KFC'' here in America, do it well, make your food fresh and better, because I generally think it could actually change American shitty fast food chain, and have people hooked on a different type of flavor. Seems like they made it to order, freshly deep fried before I arrived by the hot oil in the meat. Chicken is amazingly tender, but it can fill out the batter a little better. I wish for almost $9 with tax there was a little more chicken involved. Decided to make the journey over to the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) after watching a Fung Bros video where they talked about how ACE Burger was creating fast food items based off of American fast food chains located in China such as KFC and McDonalds. Let me tell you... The drive over here was well worth it. I ordered two items which included the Spicy Chicken Leg Burger and the Spicy Fried Chicken Wings (6). The Spicy Chicken Leg Burger is Ace Burger's take on the Spicy McChicken from McDonalds in China and gosh does it taste amazing. The chicken is fried crispy, is not oily, comes with shredded iceberg lettuce, a nice spread of mayo, and topped off with a nice toasted sesame buns. The combination of all of this was absolutely delightful! The Chicken Wings were also no joke. They were fried to perfection and were extremely flavorful. Besides loving the food here, I do appreciate that they cook the food right when you place the order so you know that what you're getting hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp. Service is a bit subpar here, but anyone who has visited an Asian restaurant shouldn't be shocked. The workers can definitely do a better job in customer satisfaction by for example greeting customers and helping them navigate the menu if it is there first time visiting. I did appreciate that they provided gloves in the order since there wasn't a place nearby to wash my hands. Other than that, the food is amazing and I'll definitely be coming back! read more

The menu at ACE Burger is modeled after fast food items from major American chains but only available in China, so it's certainly American-Asian fusion and it definitely works. Been here twice, the first time to try a few items out, and the second time to get more of the New Orleans burger since that is the best. The New Orleans Roasted Chicken Leg Burger uses a roasted chicken (as opposed to fried), which is slathered in a slightly spicy sauce. This is added to a typical bun with mayo and shredded lettuce, quite simple. I liked the medium-large portion size of the chicken. The spicy sauce was mild spice with an appropriate loading (yet somehow the spiciness changed bite to bite), while I found there to be too much mayo. I would rather let the spicy sauce stand on its own, and it would be a tad less messy. The Spicy Chicken Leg Burger uses fried chicken which had a nice crisp texture to it. This had slight spice incorporated into the breading, and the spice level was different bite to bite. The chicken was on a bun with the same mayo and shredded lettuce. For this burger I thought the mayo was appropriate since there was no other sauce it was interacting with. The Mexican Twister is similar to a rolled burrito using the same ingredients at the New Orleans burger but maybe with extra cheese sauce. I found Ace Burger featured on a Youtube video and heard great things about the flavors of the Mcdonalds Chicken in Shanghai and Asia in general. I went ahead and ordered the crispy chicken tenders. FOOD: Overall taste is great. The chicken sandwiches are very flavorful and juicy. Spicy Chicken Leg Sandwich has a great crunch and a spice level probably equivalent to Jack In the Box's spicy chicken sandwich. It's very much like a amped up spicy McChicken sandwich. New Orleans Roast Chicken Sandwich isn't spicy and was very tasty and tender. Our mistake was trying the roasted Honey BBQ Chicken. It was $17.99 and turned out to be a Cornish hen. It probably had as much meat as one sandwich. The taste was ok but so not worth it. The white meat was also a little dried out on it. Note: All their crispy chicken items are spicy. This is a unique place. I heard about it so I gave it a try. It really only sells chicken, and their concept is to imitate fast-food chicken burgers and sides in China, like from McD's over there. It is not some gourmet burger place. If you consider that as their purpose, its actually pretty good. I got the spicy chicken leg burger combo (probably a translation problem) - is basically a mcD's mcChicken except bigger, using a real chicken thigh with crispier coating and its spicy. Not some weird processed patty. The bun, lettuce, mayo all make it VERY similar to a mcChicken, if it werent for the much better piece of meat. I also tried their new orlean's wings. No idea what makes this New Orleans, but they were meh. Baked wings, not crispy. seasoning was ok. Also had the cob of corn - its corn. no surprises. Overall, the food is a step above typical fast food chicken burgers, for sure, and the price is similarly a bit more. It is not to the level of gourmet places though, but also not nearly as expensive. If you come to this place expecting some unique asian twist to chicken burgers or the next trendy chicken burger, look elsewhere. If you grew up in the states and heard your asian friends talking about how McDonald's and KFC are better in Asia, here you can get a glimpse of that. The name of the restaurant might be a bit misleading as they currently don't have any beef burgers on there menu. My guess is that this is because in China MacDonald's and KFC call their chicken sandwiches "burger" as well. A burger should be beef was a detail that got lost in translation. My wife and I tried a few items from here and liked them all. Our favorites are the fried chicken items. The spicy chicken sandwich, which mimics the spicy McChicken sold in China, is excellent. The chicken thigh is perfectly fried and there is plenty of sauce. For me it is at least as good as Popeyes. The item I miss the most from McDonald's menu in China is the spicy chicken wings. I think they are called mcwings and they are similar to the mighty wings we briefly had here in the US. I'm not sure if Ace Burger's 6 piece spicy wings taste exactly like McDonald's, but they are great none the less. They are fried perfectly and super juicy on the inside. And all 6 pieces are mid sections/wingette, no drumette. The popcorn chicken mimics the same item from KFC menu in China. They are pieces of dark meat. I always spotted this place in the corner of my eye when i would pass by, and i finally decided to try it. Even though it says ace burger, there specialty is actually fried chicken. It's a tiny place that only holds the capacity of 7, a take out chicken shop. I got the popcorn chicken and for popcorn chicken it's huge! It was super crispy and fresh out the fryer, packed with a kick from the outside batter. Definitely a worth it spot. I would assume this place would be more popular with the quality of chicken they produce! The only downside i would say is that the only sauce they have is ketchup.
