Dr Peterson is a kind caring genuine human who took care of a patient in need. He is a special person running a great practice. Today I had an outbreak of shingles, near my eye. being a holiday their office was close and I had the luck to have Dr Peterson (no relation) on call. they where close, he invited me to one of the offices he was at working in office paperwork and gave me a check up. the dude on a day off, close office took care of me. this is special, beyond normal care and expectation. read more

They are ridiculous there. Nobody calls you back (you know they are just so busy SO IS EVERYONE) Front office staff aside from one nice lady is completely RUDE. They also wanted to give my son an appt weekly at noon. He is in school so unfortunately, no accommodations are made for him and oh well. Came in for a long overdue eye exam. Staff was friendly and efficient. They ran on time as well. MD that did the final accept of my eye exam was attentive and checked a few things that were jiving quite right a few times over. First pair of glasses came in and came in for final test. New lenses, new prescription so felt it best to give a bit of time. Over a few weeks the second pair came in (which were delayed due to lost order/shipping). Second pair was a much better feel (from the prescription aspect). The team checked out the first pair and determined that the lab had missed a call-out adjustment that the MD wrote in. Kept the second pair and sent back the first pair. A few weeks later the original pair came back in and are matching up to my needs quite nicely. In summary: friendly staff, attentive doctors, reasonable amount of frames that are reasonably priced. They take the time to follow up on patient (customer) concerns. Will repeat. read more

I have been a patient at Absolute Vision for a few years now, and couldn't be happier with services provided to me. Dr. Peterson provides a very thorough dilated exam, making sure to cover any visual issues you may be experiencing. I have an astigmatism in one eye, horrible night vision, and severe dry eye from working on a computer all day. Dr. Peterson was the first Optometrist to take his time to address all these issues, from prescribing the correct type of lenses for my frames, to taking the time to try out several brands of contact lenses to help my dry, sensitive eyes before ordering a prescription His staff is always pleasant and helpful, and they accept most insurances. read more

They got me in the next day when my glasses broke in half (don't buy Tommy Bahama glasses), which was awesome! Everyone was really nice here and it was an easy and quick process to get tested, see the doctor and pick out new glasses. They have a location in Crestwood and they just opened another location in Manhattan. When Shay was helping me pick out glasses, I was a little put off with the fact that she selected about 7 pairs of glasses to show me that were all high $200's to $300's. Considering my insurance pays only $149 for my frames, that is a lot to pay out of pocket. I found some cute frames that were only $190. Shay also didn't seem to go over the charged with me. I had to ask specifically what I was being charged for and what my insurance was covering. When I visited before, the lady went over each charge line by line. Overall I am pleased with everything. However, I haven't received my glasses yet! Hopefully they won't break like the last ones! read more

I came here to support local business and they accept my insurance. I am glad I did. I have had problems with reading even with contacts in. My last doctor said you are getting older and this happens just wear reading glasses. Whats the point I might as well just wear glasses. I had the usual eye exam and then met with the doctor. I expained the problem I was having and asked what can be done. Dr. Hansen suggested multi focal lens. She explained how they work and what to expect. I love them. they exceeded my expectations. I can now read without putting on reading glasses and overall vision is better. I have 20/20. Overall the entire staff is friendly and helpful and most important they listen to what you have to say. This was a local place that accepts my vision insurance (VSP). I thought their selection was rather limited and very expensive. So with my out of pocket expenses, I probably could have went to For Eyes or some other place. I thought some of the questions being asked by the gal taking my information were some what odd. Like who I lived with, ages, etc. She was taken aback when I asked what the questions were for. She said the Doctors like to know all about us. I said they don't need to know anything except my medical/vision history. Not a bad place for being local, but I have been to better Vision care places. read more

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Sowinski for a few years now. Dr. Sowinski is great; takes time to help & listen to his patients. Staff is very nice and courteous. My husband was fitted for a new lens for his glasses after retinal detachment surgery, which Absolute Vision sent to their own lab. We were told that it would be 10 days to get the lens. We requested they put a "RUSH" on this lens, because my husband could not work until he had the lens, and disability had run out due to him being home for 4 months from the surgery. Absolute Vision agreed to "RUSH" the lens. Well, tomorrow is DAY 10, & we received a call today from Absolute Vision that their lab found a defect, and NOW it would be an ADDITIONAL TWO MORE DAYS. We might continue to see Dr. Sowinski, but from now own will always request the script for glasses/contacts and get them elsewhere. I do hope that Absolute Vision chooses a better lab than their current one. read more

I've been a patient at this establishment for almost 10 years. I have tried going to other eye doctors but always come back to Absolute Vision Care. Dr. Sowinski is very friendly and knowledgeable. I always have a good experience dealing with him and lots of good conversation about sports. I have had occasional problems with his staff. For instance, I made an appointment over the phone and the woman gave me the wrong date so I missed my appointment. They always handle things like that in a courteous manner. My only complaint is that they tend to always run late. It seems like if you have a 3:00 appointment, it is really 3:15 or 3:20. For that I lower my rating to 4 but it should be like a 4.5 really. When I went to Absolute Vision Care in Mokena, IL for my annual exam, a staff member who lacked formal educational training, (as I learned from my inquiry of her), did almost all the testing. Dr. Sowinski didn't spend more than ten minutes with me for his part of the exam. At the end of the exam, Dr. Sowinski asked if I have Medicare coverage. When I inquired of him why Medicare information was needed, that this was an eye exam and not a medical issue, he tersely referred me to a staff member for answers. One of his rude staff members also quizzed me regarding Medicare but was unwilling and unable to explain why this was needed. When I expressed an interest in new glasses, she pulled several unattractive versions that were twice the cost of the $90 insurance allotment. Their limited inventory did not include anything at the desired price-point. The final insult was an attempt to overcharge me for the exam co-pay and without providing a copy of the prescription. read more

Love Absolute Vision!! I have been going to Dr. Peterson since the business opened in Mokena and now my whole family goes to him as well. He is very thorough and always has the best interest of his customers in mind when selecting new contacts/glasses. He is super friendly and the staff is also helpful and easy to deal with. When I had an emergency (something blew in my eye and scratched my cornea), the staff squeezed me in to see a doctor even though they didn't have any appointments available for the day. When I moved to the Mokena area and needed a new eye doctor, I was so nervous, especially since I have very poor vision with severe astigmatism. So finding a qualified doctor isn't always easy. Dr Peterson & Dr. Johnson both worked together to save my son Conner's eyes. Conner was ranked in the bottom 5% for his reading level, was in a sub reading class. He went to a first doctor that prescribed glasses to correct the problems he was having with focusing on the books and blackboard. Then, I took him to Dr. Rick. Within 2 minutes of seeing Conner, doctor Rick called in all his nurses, to witness what someone else prescribed and why Conner refused to wear the glasses prescribed by someone else. Within 6 months of following Dr. Rick & Dr. Johnson's procedures specifically developed for Conner, he was put in the regular reading level class and later ranked on ISAT as above normal reading. In short, THEY BOTH SAVED CONNERS EYE SITE, RAISED HIS READING LEVEL, GOT HIM INTO REGULAR READING CLASS, IMPROVED ALL HIS GRADES TO A'S & CURED HIS CONDITION. On my last meeting, I referred an 18 year old kid, who has the same issue to have it also reversed. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY, TO HAVE ABSOLUTE VISION'S NAME AT EVERY SCHOOL, TO HELP KIDS WHO PLAY VIDEO GAMES TOO MUCH and/or have a drop off in their reading & grades at school.. I also want to take a moment, to state, that Dr. Peterson, has a wide array of knowledge, a truely interdisplinary thinker, that takes data from all sources in identifying the nature & cause of the problem. These people don't just treat the symptoms, they create a solution to the problem....something I haven't seen very often in the medical community. Do NOT purchase glasses here!!!! My son has been wearing glasses for 7 years. I have ordered glasses from numerous places. It took THREE weeks to get his glasses from here when originally told 5-7 days. I had to keep calling back to find out the status on them. Then my son had an allergic reaction to the rubber nose pads and he could not wear them( they were 500 dollar glasses) and I took them back and first they told me they needed the physicians approval to refund my money. Never got back to me. I called back 5 days later and they asked me "so would you like a refund?" Which I thought I was CLEAR on that when I brought them back. Now they said it will take 10 business days for the insurance to reverse payment and refund my deductible. Ok fine. Never heard from them again. I called back NINE business days later and they told me they needed my credit card number and my insurance knew nothing of a refund. I will NEVER EVER go back here and I suggest everyone go elsewhere for their glasses if they can! read more
