I went to get a consultation, with intentions of having it done anyways. The entire staff were super friendly and accommodating, since we brought our infant with us. I talked to Dr. Ubhi did my consultation and explained a lot of the eye and the basis of the procedure. He checked my eyes and was very thorough with all the explanation. I scheduled my surgery for a few days after with Dr. Horn. The day of the procedure, everything went by really quick. Took about 20-30 minutes for the actual surgery. Dr. Horn was always available via phone or text if you had questions or concerns. I did it on a weekday and I went back to work the next day. I know it's scary to think they're "operating" on your eye, but it honestly was mostly like lights flashing haha if you're considering it, I would highly recommend. So I had lasik about 27 years ago in Mexico and loved it. Was recommended from a work friend that this place was great. First just so you know the entrance is in the back of building and on second floor, I know the large sign on building is in front and a bit confusing. I was greeted and went through a few exams and tests before I saw the doctor to make sure I was a candidate. The doctor at LasikPlus which I forgot his name was very honest which I loved. The did say that the previous lasik was done perfectly but I couldn't get it done because there was something wrong with my eyes from the back of my eyes, so I need to see a specialist. March 2025: I'm about 6 weeks post my initial procedure and back in glasses. I was told I could be a 'slow healer' but I am fairly confident that my vision is not going to improve any more and that I'll have to consider an enhancement, which I'm on the fence about anyway. At my post-op appointment, there wasn't really any sort of explanation as to why I have residual prescription and astigmatism in both eyes. I recognize that every person is different, but can't help but have a sinking suspicion that my initial measurements were not correct. I went into this quite quickly and felt kind of pressured into it to save a few hundred dollars to do the consult and procedure on the same day. That was probably a mistake - the procedure was done while my eyes were still dialated which I've seen is not always considered best practice, but I have to assume was fine. I asked a lot of questions regarding healing time and expectations based on age, high prescription, etc. and expressed my initial concern that I was seeing really well with my contacts and didn't want to lose that clarify and was told that the goal was to get me seeing as well or better post procedure. I didn't spend thousands of dollars to end up in glasses within one month post op. Im 62 years old and have needed glasses for reading for about 15 years now. I've had LASIK- and it regressed. So I am now taking advantage of their "Lifetime Advantage Plan:LASIK Enhancement at No Cost." The actual surgery is no cost but they require you to jump through a few hoops --which costs an additional $300 and it's about 3 months before they actually just schedule your enhancement. It's been a little less than a week since my lasik procedure, so I may update my rating/review as time goes on, but I don't see it going upwards of 3 stars-- only downwards from here if anything. I want to preface and say that my procedure went smoothly as far as I can tell up until this point. However, it is the customer service that really brings this review down for me. You may think that poor customer service is fine if the trade off is a "smooth" procedure, but it makes allll the difference especially when it comes to healthcare and having surgery on your eyes! I had my consultation one week before the day of my lasik procedure at the Lincoln Park location in Chicago. When I met with my consultant, she was overly nice and enthusiastic which was super off-putting to me. She kept complimenting me for one, and if I had any slight question or concern throughout our time together, she would almost too quickly jump in to resolve before I could finish my sentence. You would think this is great customer service, she made it sound like she had a pre-rehearsed SALES pitch and did not treat my like a person, rather than a prospect to fuel their business. When it came to the more technical parts of the consultation like getting my eyes dilated or doing certain tests, the consultant failed to thoroughly explain what we were doing, and why we were doing it. Later on in the consultation, she asks when I would like to get my surgery. I told her about 3 weeks from that date. However, by the end of the consultation, I'm brought to the front desk and am told I have to schedule my procedure for next week, in which I again had barely any chance to have a word because they are GO-GO-GO here, its all about the MONEY! I had considered their CareCredit option, but Connie, the lady at the front desk did not make clear the details. One minute she says that the plan is 12 months no interest, then the next she says its 24 months with no interest. If you are trying to sell the payment plan, know the terms and conditions so you can educate your clients, rather than getting them into debt. I tried to ask more about it, but the whole conversation was rushed and you could tell she wanted me out of there. After I get home, I begin reviewing the documents they put into a folder for you to review pre-procedure. One of the sheets of paper was a "resume" like sheet about my assigned surgeon, Dr. Jonathan McGlothan, which they only briefly mentioned in my consultation. I did find it weird that they do not make an effort for patients to meet their surgeon prior to the procedure. Another red flag! Because I know that Lasik is somewhat of an invasive procedure as its dealing with my eyes, I did my thorough research on the assigned surgeon. There was 1 review on Yelp, which did not put McGlothan in the best light-- he failed to walk the patient through the procedure which is critical when you're getting such an invasive procedure. But that was not the only red flag, I found a court case dealing with a woman who sued McGlothan for messing up her lasik procedure: https://caselaw.findlaw.com/us-7th-circuit/1525250.html, where he was fined nearly $700k for damages. Why would LasikPlus hire someone who has this on their record?! Reading what I did on McGlothan, I called the Lincoln Park location to switch to a different surgeon. I spoke with Connie, at the front desk, who at my consultation appointment was generally respectful. However, my wanting to switch surgeons changed her tone completley. She was "confused" by why I wanted to switch my surgeon, and did everything she could to avoid me switching. I mention that I want a credible surgeon, and even offer names of 1-2 surgeons I would prefer. The conversation gets nowhere, I hang up and call the Oakbrook location. To my understanding, some of the surgeons travel from one LasikPlus location to another, and settle on Dr. Horn, who I had suggested to Connie originally, but she failed to offer me any information on how I could get scheduled with him. Fast forward, procedure goes smoothly. Dr. Horn was very nice and walked me through each step of the procedure. I come in for my follow-up after 2 days, and I meet with a doctor who does into even introduce himself, looks at my eyes for less than 5 minutes, and says I'm good to go. I ask questions to ensure everything is looking good, which he responds in short answers. Before I leave, everyone at the front desk congratulates me on my "20/20 vision" which I had not yet achieved based on my follow-up, as it takes time for it to clear up and stabilize. I ask if I can schedule another follow up to make sure I achieve 20/20 and to make sure my eyes heal nicely. They say a quick "sure if you want" and immediately go into, "make sure to leave us a review!". This place is out for your money and do not care about you as a patient. You are just a number to them. I got my procedure done within the last week and I'm very happy with the results so far. 20/20 vision by the next day! The procedure didn't hurt - it was just a little uncomfortable. You're in the lasik room only for about 15 minutes. Dr. Horn is very friendly and makes sure that you're comfortable. He also kept encouraging that you follow the strict after care guidelines. Things I wished I had known going in: They give a discount for booking right away. I was expecting to schedule my surgery months out (I had just bought new contacts), but I figured I might as well get it done right away with the discount. Also, the after care is a bit of a pain in the butt. You're given 4 different eye drops to use multiple times a day. They also recommend that you wear googles to sleep and shower for the first week. I gave up after the first couple days as it was too uncomfortable to sleep. They recommend after you get lasik that you take a 4-6 hour nap when you get home, so I would recommend that you wake up early that morning. I was expecting that my eyes might feel tired/heavy from the procedure, but that wasn't the case, and I struggled to fall asleep in the middle of the day. My eye doctor recommended this center for lasik. I was a little surprised at the size - it's a pretty big production. When I went in for my consultation, which they said would take 90 minutes, I did a lot of waiting. Both at the beginning and then in between seeing the technician and waiting for the Dr, but apparently they were understaffed that day, so maybe that explains the long wait. I paid about $2600 for the procedure. I did receive a discount with my health insurance and also saved $400 for booking within 2 weeks. The price includes everything from start to finish, and supposedly a lifetime warranty if you need to go back for a correction. read more

I had wrestled with the idea with lasik for many years and finally I mustered up the courage/finances to go through with it. I tried making my consultation appointment online which was a mistake because they were overbooking. I had to reschedule my appointment TWICE before I was even able to go in. When I arrived it seemed like a welcoming and friendly place. The woman who did my eye exam made me feel comfortable except her comment on my prescription being very high. I know my vision is bad, why do you think I'm here? Why the need to make me feel self conscious about my vision? That's the last thing I needed going into a facility that is supposed to help me. Except that, everything seemed to go accordingly. I should mention that my vision is on the terrible end with both eyes being at a prescription over -10 with astigmatism. So with having my contacts out and my eyes dilated I was basically blind and felt vulnerable. That is when I met with the man who was supposed let me know if I was a candidate or not. I was not able to make out his face or name because I couldn't see. This man had basically told me that I'm what they like to call a permanent non candidate. As he proceeded to tell me that it's basically hopeless/there's new technology coming out but don't get your hopes up because it won't work for you/maybe 1 out of 100 doctors may say they can do something but it won't be anywhere close to 20/20 vision/ etc. I was so taken aback by how I was being spoken to. I have never felt more degraded and humiliated in my life. This is how you deliver news like that to someone who's been struggling with their vision for so long? Also didn't even bother to explain the alternatives to lasik AT ALL and maybe why they would/wouldn't work. Maybe he's racist or homophobic? Either way, it was crystal clear that he did not want to deal with me or my case. I have never met a more unprofessional and heartless person in the healthcare/medical field as this one. After reading reviews from patients who need enhancement surgery, I realized my experience is the same. The initial consultation and surgery was scheduled very quickly. Dr. Horn was nice and answered my question regarding the blurriness after surgery and I went back in March for a follow up. Turned out that I still have prescription left. I went again in April and was told that I will be contacted to schedule my enhancement. By this point, I called several times and they are very hard to reach. I guess compare to other people, I am lucky in a way that I did get a call back informing me I will be scheduled within 6-8 weeks. But time went by, and I still have not have the date set up. In my own research, the enhancement should be done within a period of time and I am afraid my deadline is fast approaching. I guess if you choose to go to Lasik, you better bet on having the surgery go smoothly. I will update the review in a few weeks. read more

Reading reviews helped ease my nerves about getting this done. No one wants to be awake through any procedure, it does take alot of bravery to go through this. I am still in recovery stage, all these drops are alot but following them is what will make this recovery a success. My post op appt was 3 days ago and my vision is 20/15 the only thing now is night vision (it's clear) but these high beams on cars are annoying(staburst), but it will take time to go back to normal. Beware - Long waitlist for enhancements. My Lasik surgery back in April/23 only corrected about 75% of my vision; though the first few months made it seem like 100%, as my eyes healed, the blurred vision became more apparent. I absolutely regret the decision to have Lasik done to my eyes especially having it done at this location with Dr. Horn. I had a couple visits to confirm my eyes need to be enhanced (basically undergo the procedure again) only to be told that they can't schedule me till 6-8 weeks. Long line for enhancements tells me there's a lot of errors that need to be corrected. But if you are a new paying customer, they can have you in the very same week, which says they really want your money and once they get it, all customer service goes down the drain. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere or just be happy you can see clearly with your glasses/contacts. read more

I was told to go here by my eye insurance. Pre surgery went fine, but afterwards was terrible. They refused to answer their phone on their"emergency" line because of that I went to the hospital twice with terrible eye pain. Both times it was inflamed, due to the surgery. The other times the did answer the phone i was supposed to be contacted withen 3 business days and surprise i never got a phone call. The containers for the drops they give you, I felt like it was more likely I would smash them and then they would drop into my eye then any more liquid come out. They did call about s month after surgery and the lady was not given notes that I went to the ER twice and she was supposed to get back to me on that. My eyes are able to see, but I would recommend going to a none nation wide service, as they would actually care about you. And yes I did follow their after care routine. read more

I had my procedure in August and my left eye was not fully corrected. They gave me a contact/glasses prescription. Told me to come back in 3 months for another evaluation and to schedule a correction. I called 4 times over a 5 week period and finally got a call back. They scheduled an evaluation and then told me I needed the left eye corrected because it did not work. They scheduled me about 3 weeks out for eye dilation prior to surgery. They just called and cancelled the appt and told me they do not have another appt at Oak Brook for the foreseeable future..........Also, I have to keep calling back each week, their staff won't call me.
