Odd since the only info you need for an appointment is the patient's name and birth date. The remaining "personal" information would be the policy holder of the insurance which would be me. Pretty sure my 21 YO doesn't know who the insurer is, my birth date or the last four of my SSN which is what they need to submit the insurance claim. Not sure that the less than user friendly staff understands the concept of HIPAA in this context. I am the person providing all the of the "personal" information. Never been told I couldn't make an appointment for someone in my family because of HIPAA. Happy to take my business elsewhere.

The doctor who came in afterwards to do her own checking was bubbly and fun, but also thorough, checked on a few things the student had done, asking how the student graded a certain test she did, then shared the 'grade' she gives--small difference. It was a two-hour total experience--exactly how I was told it would probably be when I did the phone registration. Best thing about costs is they DO accept Medicare, I only paid $25 to cover dilation--not covered by Medicare.

My family of 4 followed Dr. Robert here when he started his practice about 12 years ago and we love the eye doctors at Midwest eye. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the Optical Department. Very disappointing. I happened to be in the area and arrived right after they opened one morning, not one customer in Optical or in the waiting area. Asked for a 2-3 minute adjustment to my frames that had been purchased there. Overheard front desk asking Lisa in Optical and she said no, I'm busy, she needs to make an appointment. She didn't walk 15 feet to come over to see what I needed or speak to me herself. I had even said I had no problem waiting if she was busy. They just told me to make an appointment and come back another day. No thanks. I'm not going to take time out of my workday and drive 20 minutes each way to come back for something that should take 2 to 3 minutes. This massive lack of customer service is not on brand for the treatment that we receive from Dr. Robert or Bauer and was highly disappointing. Midwest Eye Optical will not be seeing another dime of my hard-earned money. If we didn't love the eye doctors so much I'd be finding a new one for all 4 of my family members. Loyalty & respect go both ways. It's not hard to treat people well. This interaction was not it.

I recounted a recent bad optometrist experience (elsewhere) to a coworker, who suggested I see an…read moreopthalmologist. This was especially important, she thought, since I had recovered from a torn retina and really should seek specialists when it comes to my eyes. She was completely right, of course. I found Dr. Lam via positive Yelp and Google reviews. I'm so thankful that I did! He was personable and very thorough in his exam. He explained that the blurred vision in my post-surgical eye (from the pneumatic retinopexy/retina surgery) was in fact cataracts. He indicated that I was overdue for surgery since my vision was so negatively impacted. Dr. Lam did my cataract surgery about a month later. It was deemed a success with at least 20/20 vision. Unfortunately, there was blurring over my lens. Dr. Lam explained that I'd need a follow-up laser procedure. Dr. Lam did this laser surgery, a capsulotomy, a few days ago. After resting/napping later that afternoon, I opened my eyes and had clear, unencumbered vision out of my 2x surgery eye! This is the first time I've had at least 20/20 since 1st grade! It's been a long 13 month journey with two eye surgeries and 1 minor procedure, but thankfully, my vision is even better than it was. Dr. Lam is very experienced. In my opinion, he uses tools to accurately and fully assess one's eyes. I felt 100% comfortable with him at all times (a little less with some Medical Technicians if I'm being honest..). He's answered all questions, often fully explaining/anticipating questions even before I have a chance to ask. He also approached treatment more conservatively; for example, he recommended waiting several months post-cataract surgery before having the capsulotomy since lasering too early could re-tear my retina. My capsulotomy was nearly 13 months after my retinal surgery. I'm thankful to Dr. Lam and have great confidence in his abilities! I'm so happy to have found such a capable opthalmologist.

Enter Dr. Franceschini's practice. I was so glad I found them. Easy to book an appointment as a new patient back when I found this office in 2016. I was super pregnant at the time so wanted to get my new glasses before the baby was due, and his folks were great about working with the lab to get them done and to me before baby got here. When I came in for this year's eye exam, I was pleasantly (read: extremely) suprised and happy to see that the office had moved to an electronic lens system for the eye exam. Meaning, Dr. Franceschini switches between "1" and "2" with a cool remote-like thing. It means he's less in your face (not that it was an issue) and you can compare the exam letters more easily. I love the embracing of technology. Moving along to Dr. Franceschini's staff - they are a friendly, amazing, helpful group. Gina is my technician and she's been great in helping me find frames, order frames, debate frames...I seriously think she's amazing. She also helped me with my contact fittings this year. In an era where customer service seems to be dead, Dr. Franceschini's office and Oakbrook Optical seriously take great care of their patients/customers. However, my experience with the staff, particularly Collette, was disappointing. After my exam, I worked with Collette to try on frames for my low prescription. I found a pair I liked but decided to hold off until I felt better and could return with a second opinion. Collette made a subtle remark under her breath about hoping the frames would still be there, which struck me as unnecessary. Two days later, she called to ask if I was coming back for the frames. When I explained that I was still deciding and had requested a copy of my prescription, her tone noticeably shifted. She sounded curt and dismissive, and told me getting my prescription wasn't her department, even though the front desk is only steps away. When I later called back for an update, she answered again and was just as dismissive. I didn't feel confident my request would be followed through, and asked to speak with someone else. Her response made it clear that helping me was a burden. Ultimately, I had to make a third contact and visit the office in person to get my prescription. Even then, it wasn't signed by the doctor, and no one, including Collette, acknowledged the confusion or offered an apology. I've worked in customer service and wouldn't speak to any customer the way I was spoken to. I expected more from an office with such strong reviews and designer branding. Unfortunately, due to the unprofessional behavior I experienced, I won't be returning.

They refunded just the glasses, the prescription is unusable as written as it does not match my needs.
