I had a catastrophe with my glasses and needed repair immediately. I went into Visionworks on 1-30-2025 without an appointment to see if they could Possibly help me. I spoke with associate, Star, who was quick to help me. She worked with my glasses for some time, and she asked could I leave them overnight because it difficult to remove the lenses from the frame. I agreed. This morning, 1-30-2025, I stopped by to see if they were ready. The associate, Lee, was able to get the job done with my glasses with ease. I come here every time to purchase my frames and lenses. I Just picked up my new glasses about 2 weeks ago. When I walked into the store the lady behind the desk is blasting her loud music from her cell phone and did not shut it off until I was in front of the desk. Also, she is wearing a surgical mask. Well for one the pandemic is over and second surgical masks do absolutely nothing against viruses so why the hell is she still wearing one?!?! When I asked her to adjust my glasses because they were a little crooked. She told me my glasses were fine and it's my eyebrows that are crooked. This idiot standing behind the desk that is wearing a mask is going to disrespect me and tell me it's my eyebrows?! Seems like some of the people who work here are just miserable and don't like there job. A few weeks ago I suffered a severe scratch to my cornea. Couldn't see at all and I was panicking. I'm 37 and had to have my mother drive me around from place to place and was denied without an appointment. We decided to stop in here and I'm so thankful. Dr. Ravi Shukla saw me almost immediately. I was of course panicking thinking I was blinded for life and he was so calm and so sweet and assured me I'd be ok. He took a look at my eye and gave me a prescription for drops and asked I come back everyday for 7 days to a follow up. Although he was not in the office for my daily follow ups, the other doctors were so nice and each time they made a phone call to Dr. Shukla, per his request, for an update on my eye. This just shows how truly caring this doctor is! I made a final appointment today knowing he'd be back in the office. My eyesight is perfectly fine now, but I moreso wanted to see him in person to thank him for his kindness. So thank you to Dr. Shukla, every other doctor I saw, and the vision works team! I contracted a bacterial infection in my eye after going here. I would suggest taking some antibacterial wipes and cleaning everything including the exam equipment and the sample glasses you try on. The Dr. gave me drops for my eyes but it has not gone away. Concerned. read more

This is the worst place I've ever been in regards to my eye care needs My glasses broke 6 months after I got them and I tried calling speaking to managers corporate offices and no one was willing to help me I even purchased a warranty and the manager told me I didn't I made to separate transactions for the glasses and the warranty My experience with them was not called for and even the corporate office supervisor Brittany was a liar Not happy about this experience they took my money and no one has any record of it and keep in mind the warranty was only for a year and then when I spoke with another manager she stated even if we could help you we can't because your warranty has expired So question do you see where I had the warranty for my glasses and now that it's expired you can't help me I've written to the BBB to get some type of assistance this vision works is the absolute worst read more

I had been having some nasty migraines. Boyfriend kindly says to me "You know maybe if you weren't wearing ten year old glasses then you wouldn't be having migraines!" I love glasses but he could have been onto something. Since, I hadn't signed up for supplemental vision insurance Visionworks was one of my few options for a free eye exam in the area with my insurance. I went ahead an called to make an appointment. Fast forward to my actual experience... The eye exam was perfectly fine. The optometrist was pleasant and informed me that the change in my eyes was minimal but it was definitely there. Was it enough to cause a drastic problem? Who knows? But I wasn't taking any chances! He made recommendations and off I went to pick out new frames. This is where my experience rapidly went downhill. From the moment I walked out of the exam room through the moment I left was 1 hour. Was this my vanity? Nope! I didn't even spend 10 minutes picking out a frame. I had picked out 3 frames I liked before even going back for my exam! The problem came with waiting. The store had 2 people working in it. While they were trying to sell glasses to many people who had come in while I was getting my eye exam, I ended up having to wait for four different people to have glasses sold to them until I could get help. I might have been more understanding if there had been multiple optometrists or a revolving door of people with new prescriptions looking to get glasses. It appears as though Visionworks will allow anyone off the street to come in with their prescription and buy glasses. While I applaud their need to create more business, it seems as though it ignores the customers that are using the optometrist that pays for space in your store. The only thing that prevented me from leaving was the fact that they were holding my prescription hostage while I waited 45 minutes for them to finish helping others. Oh yeah, and to make the situation even worse, they never called me when my glasses were in. I called after the date it said they were supposed to be in since I had not heard anything and they said to me "We were wondering when you were going to pick these up". read more

I tried this place about 2 yrs ago after being fed up with paying sky high prices at Lenscrafters (LC). Unlike the Sharky "Sales Team" at LC's; the employee's here are very nice, professional, and honest. They don't give me the run around. This will be my second time coming here. I recently made the mistake of going back to LC's because they were listed in my vision plan and Visionworks wasn't. Big mistake! I should have known better from multiple bad experiences with LC's. I ended up coming back to VW's even though they were out-of-network for my vision plan because I remembered how nice, honest, and reasonable their prices were. They also have a good selection of glasses giving me many options. I ended up paying way less than what in-network - LC's charged me! Also, they would have my glasses ready the same day where LC's, I had to wait 2 weeks! Please don't change! read more

Both my wife and I went to Visionworks hillside for glasses. We have to say the experience was very good. The staff has an excellent sense of the best fashion for the individual. Great section on site as well as on line. One extra point. My wife brought in an original frame for new lenses. Somehow the frames were damaged and they offered any frame as a replacement. Avoid if you can! I had previously rated them 5 stars, having excellent service with a rep named Jackie, and a professional optometrist who was spot on with her diagnosis. However, both of them are no longer there. Their current optometrist by the name of G------s is quite chatty and has gotten my prescription wrong every time (3-4 now, and she will not listen to you when you say you can't see, plus she cut the eye exam short when cornered, and keeps telling a different story every time). So far, they have misdiagnosed plus gotten glasses and contacts orders wrong multiple times now in a span of a few months. This is all in an attempt to "make right" the first order. They said at first "let us make it right, and if you don't like it, you can get a refund then" but the time for a refund passed after the replacement order came in and was discovered to be wrong. The rep who is there the most, H----h does not listen to the customer and does not provide most basic information. It is very exasperating dealing with these people. I keep trying to work with them (what else can I do?) but they have had over 4 chances to make it right, and it still isn't right! It's like a bad nightmare. Plus, my eyesight is still suffering. My insurance won't cover more than one routine exam per year so I am stuck. I can't afford to do this all over again out of pocket. read more

I recently bought glasses here - nothing remarkable about that experience. Then I took them to get adjusted at the Visionworks in the Loop close to my office and the associate scratched the lenses!! When I brought them back to the Hillside location the gentleman who helped me identified that the lenses weren't scratched, but had actually been cracked when improperly adjusted. When I try and call they don't answer and when they do they hang up without saying anything. BEWARE!!!! Don't not go here. I've had the best expierence at walmart. Do not trust them !!! They double billed my insurance company ... The box of acuv oasys cost $42 any and everywhere. While these idiots billed my insurance $74 per box ! I will NEVER do business with dishonest people I have to check behind ! Not smart people working there. I am writing the BB and filing a claim against them with my insurance company. I caught it because I have to submit my receipt to my insurance company. Just butt whips ... And I am pissed about it too. Updated: The manager did give me a refund and reversed the claim to my insurance company. I will watch for the reversal of the claim. read more

Super helpful staff, great selection of glasses, and quick & painless process. I definitely will not be switching eye care providers anytime soon. These guys are definitely worth the time and money. They're not super super cheap, but they're not crazy expensive either. They're a perfect in between. Did I mention that the staff is super friendly? Oh, I guess I did. I am very disappointed that Visionworks did not replace my lense that was misplaced in the store. The general manager, Lee insist I gave him my glasses that I wear daily without a lense. The reason I know it's not true, is because I had them in a hardcover case and when I put them on my vision was blurry and I pulled them away from my face to see the screw was loose and I placed them right back in the case. I had my glasses and the screw when I walked in the store. If I had handed Lee my glasses with no lense it's funny he took them and waited on two other customers and went in the lab before saying to me do you have the lense. He never mentioned the lense before that. I am 50+ and not into playing games. My lense in somewhere in that store and I am asked to pay for another lense. This was the second time this screw had came a loose, so I am disappointed with the quality or lack there of, of your frames, now this. I am pulling my business, my children and any future family and friends business from Visioworks read more

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! First off all come in during the week for the best service, not on a weekend. I was in and out in an hour between finding my glasses and getting my eye exam. I purchased a pair of eye glasses from Vision Works with at least 3-4 upgrades. I have been in and out of the store complaining for different reasons. The lens fell out 4-5 times before they gave me new frames. There was a glare on my glasses so I took them back in so I could upgrade to smudge/glare proof, scratch resistance lens. The lens I upgraded to are not glare or smudge proof. In fact they smudge up while I'm wearing them. They are extremely hard to clean, and need to be cleaned throughout the day constantly. Whenever I do or did have go into the facility and someone cleaned them for me, it took them a long time to clean them as well. One of the employees went through at least 6-8 wipes and they were not as clean as we thought they should have been considering the length of time they took to clean them. I have had to have a pair of glasses replaced because they did not transition right. The lens was blotchy. I expected better quality glasses. The glasses I have are garbage in my opinion. I wish I had purchased my glasses anywhere else. I would not recommend this store to anyone. I must say their customer service has been great, but the quality of their glasses are very poor. read more
