The front staff was great, but the Dr on call on 12/14 broke the camels back. My appt was at 10:20, I was there at 10:15. It took 5 minutes to get through the pre exam, and I waited almost 1 full hr since I arrived for THE SAME PATIENT who was still in the exam room when I arrived to finally leave. They didn't. It's an eye exam, not surgery. The doctor came out looking for contacts or something in 2 different closets outside the waiting area, never bothering to acknowledge me, or the 2 others who came after me, that she was running late. Not a word. That was my cue to get up and walk out. If we were an hour late would we have to say something to them? Would they even take us if we were an hour late? Totally un professional. Ive visited this LensCrafters several times and the customer service is absolutely outstanding. The staff took care of me right away and my need ms were taken care of. There was no wait for my appointment and Dr. Khan was absolutely wonderful. Very patient and kind. Dr. Khan gave me the feeling that she was really trying to help me and my vision troubles. Like many other customers who posted their comments, the customer service here is one of the worst. I made an appointment to see the doctor and when I arrived - on time - the doctor was seeing somebody and there were two people ahead of me. I was told to wait "a couple of minutes" and it will be my turn. To me, it was more like 30-40 minutes. What does it take to call a customer and inform of the delay? I was angry and I cancelled. No apology from the person who was there, no explanation, just an OK will cancel. I gave them a second chance and the appointment was fine. A wonderful young man, Peter, helped me to choose the frame and to fill all the paperwork. Glasses ready in 1-2 weeks. After 2 weeks, I called and the manager told me that the glasses were delayed and she would let me know for sure the next working day when they would arrive. Of course she never called. But on the third week, I heard from Peter, the saving grace of that place, who again helped me. Bottom line: If you must go there, make sure that Peter is there to help you. Be strong because, aside from him, in their best moments the people who work there are indifferent to you a customer. In their worst moments they are somewhat rude. If I could, I would give zero stars to the store and 10 stars to Peter. Making the average is not right, so I will stick with 1 star and ask Peter to forgive me. read more

The managing optometrist, Dr. Mani Chhibba (not a typo, btw), is super friendly and a consummate professional. She answered all of my questions related to colored contacts and then some. My annual eye exam went smoothly and I placed an order for a year's worth of contact lenses with relative ease. The cost is about the same I'd pay at Pearl Vision or elsewhere. They feature a great selection of prescription polarized sunglasses and, as luck would have it, offer $60 off a pair of Aviators, which is tempting. I've already got a brown 'Top Gun' bomber jacket, white undershirt, tight-fitting blue jeans and snappy haircut, so why not complete the look with a pair of Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell shades from the movie? I'm kinda like Tom Cruise, but 8" taller and slightly less crazy. read more

Two evenings ago, my only pair of glasses fell and the frame itself broke. I was in a panic since I cannot see without them and the thought of being without a functional pair for even a couple of hours frankly made me very anxious. Since it was about an hr before the store closed, I figured I ought to at least try if I could get a new pair then and there. A friend drove me to this store and a wonderful sales agent, Ama, attended to me immediately. Within less than 10 minutes she was able to fit my current lens into an identical frame. All throughout she was sympathetic and extremely helpful. This wonderful person deserves a promotion and a call out. Thank you, Ama, for going above and beyond to ensure I had my new glasses. Not only did my anxiety dissipate, but I was relieved beyond words (even to this day as I relive the terrifying moment when the frame broke) on how quickly and efficiently this predicament was resolved! read more

They give you appointments over the phone, after checking of course if you are elegible for an eye exam, confirm your appointments a couple of days before the appointment, they send you texts to remind you and all that, and when you get there they realized they made a "mistake" and ask if you want me reschedule for another day (after you take time off work or juggle to make it there on time) This not only happened to me bit also to my husband. The customer service here is deplorable and the manager is rude and useless. Very disappointed, go somewhere else this store is a circus. read more

I would say this place has terrible customer service. When my mother and I first entered the store, I told the sales person he could find her information in the system as she had an eye exam a year ago at the store on Clark Street. The sales person could not find her information and he did not offer to call the store on Clark Street. I had to pull my cell phone out and call. Lastly, my mother who is 88 said the lenses did not work well for her. She fell after wearing her new glasses. They of course could not replace them. $1000 down the drain. Oh well. Now This place is not how the past reviews reflect from past reviews here. My guess is that its a whole new staff. Jenny is the one who attended me. She was a delightful and very knowledgeable. Very trustworthy when we were trying to find the right pair of frames for me. That was a challenged since I didn't not look my very best at the time. It's not only Jenny who was helpful & sweet. There was another girl with her, who had great customer service skills to the ones who walked after me, as well. When I picked my frames. Another girl was there and she conducted the same manner with her customer. So please don't basis the past opinions on the past reviews. I almost did and didn't come here. I'm glad I went with my instincts and my mom's advice since she visited here before. I ran out of contacts and last minute and needed to refill them ASAP. I needed them shipped to a different state because I go to college out of-state. After having a lot of trouble with another location, I called this location and the woman on the phone (I think her name was Ama) was extremely helpful and pleasant to talk to! I actually ended up giving the wrong address and called back a couple hours later and she fixed it for me super quickly and was really nice about it. This place does not do one-hour glasses, so just keep that in mind. I was unaware of that when I first came here. They said they would rush my order after finding out this wasn't a one hour location, and it still took five days to receive my glasses. I am now wearing my old glasses as the new ones gave me even worse headaches. I went back in and had to explain that the glasses gave me worse headaches three times. The best they could suggest was a reexamination, but they could not see me because they did not have a doctor in until later in the afternoon. read more

Terrible. I spend $500 out of pocket on Oakley prescription sunglasses and I go to pick them up today. As soon as I put them on I can tell something is wrong since the distortion in the left eye is huge. Turns out that the person who initially took care of me inputted the wrong prescription for the left eye. So not only did I wait 2 weeks for the glasses but now they would have to send them back for another week to get fixed. No thanks I decided to get a refund. 3 weeks of a waiting for sports sunglasses in the peak of summer is ridiculous. I should have known better than to come here to spend my money and should have just gone with Costco optical like I usually do. Overall an enormous waste of my time. read more

So let me tell you about the times I got my glasses adjusted here... first time, they melted the piece that goes behind my ear. Unfortunately, I noticed when it burned me... Second time, they shattered the glass of my lense. Took me three months to get the replacements, hence I didn't have them for a majority of the summer. For the price, you'd think that at the bare minimum they'd be able to adjust them successfully... but obviously that's not the case. I strongly and sincerely suggest taking your business elsewhere including but not limited to the other lens crafters in the Chicagoland area, where I have found a significantly higher level of competency and professionalism and a lot less suckiness. read more

A couple years ago it was time for new glasses. At the time I was working 12 hour night shifts so convenience was key. This store is right down Harlem from me, so I gave it a go. Setting up an exam online was easy. When you get there its nothing but a high pressure scam to get you to upcharge things. Whether its the fancy eye scan which costs $50 (after insurance) or the ultra thin lenses. All told it was well over $300. Keep in mind I do not have bifocals but I do have *great* insurance. A couple weeks ago I got new glasses at the Sears on North Ave. Same company, same frames, much better service, 1/3 the price. 2 guesses whether I will ever set foot in this place again. read more

The optometrist is very good. However, there is nothing good to say about the rest of this store. They have a poor selection of frames. After seeing the optometrist, I asked the employee, behind the front desk, to adjust my glasses. She took my glasses and bent them and shaped them without seeing how they were on my face, in the first place. I tried them on and she said they looked good. However, since that hastily readjustment, they are worse than when I went in there. They are loose and crooked. I went back and there were only employees in the store. The person behind the counter told me I would have to wait ten minutes for a readjustment. They appear to be understaffed and disorganized. read more

I reside in the neighborhood so, I figure I'd try this store out. I walk and the worker are very un-attentive. I was treated as if I was a bother because I walked in the store. Got my glasses. I thought I was done. Fast forward to June I noticed that they charged me again. I call the store and got Julia F. She's the worst and she's the reason I would never do business with LC again. Lenscrafters is a great store with a very nice selection of eyewear. I even like how engaging some of the employees here are. However, some of their practices have made me never want to walk through their doors again. I went to this locations and did an eye exam for frames and lenses. Got my frames, but I didn't like the contacts they gave me. I got an offer for a free trial pair of a different contact lens; the catch was I had to go to a particular doctor's office to get them. Having a valid contact prescription I called them up and asked for it. they told me I didn't have a contact prescription. Then about 3 weeks later they call me saying my contact prescription is about to expire would you like to make an appointment to see a doctor now. It so hard keeps your cool when you've spent loads of money on things, but I did and now I will never get glasses or contacts from them again if it's my choice. I would rather they say I can only use the prescription with them then to tell me I don't have one to avoid losing a customer. In the end, they still lost me. read more

I had an excellent experience here. Called on a Saturday morning and they got me an appointment a few hours later. The apologized profusely when I had to wait 10-15 min - they were super busy so I totally understood. I have had issues with contacts for years. I have tried every kind that exists, and every time I went to an eye doctor they told me I just had to get used to them. I would walk around for months looking like I had pink eye with terrible headaches. Finally, about 5 years ago I gave up on contacts. When I came here, the doctor asked if I wanted to be fitted for contacts. I explained the situation and said unless they invented something new, contacts were not going to work for me. She told me that there actually was a new material that came out recently and she had seen it work for people with my same problem. She didn't pressure me at all but she said we could try those. They were wonderful! The Dr explained to me that some people are just really sensitive to the preservatives. This new material doesn't need as many. My eyes still stung a bit so she gave me a bottle of solution that was supposed to be low-preservatives too. I can't believe I wear contacts every day now! I am so happy I came here and the Dr actually listened to me instead of convincing me I was being a baby. They did try to sell me on their fancy retinal pictures. They explained it and said they recommend everyone get one yearly. If you actually listen and read the pamphlet they give you, it lists the conditions it looks for (diabetic retinopathy, age-related retinopathy) I don't have diabetes and I'm in my 20's so I said no. They were fine with it. If you just pay attention and think for yourself I don't see why you would be pressured into buying something you don't want. read more

I had an eye exam a few months ago and ordered new frames as well. They never called me to tell me my frames were ready, I had to call them. Once my frames arrived, I had to wait almost 90 minutes to have my new glasses adjusted as the person helping me was constantly leaving me to answer the phone and help other customers. I intended to order a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses however they did not have the ones I wanted in stock. I was told "oh, no problem, we will order them and call you when they come in and you can try them on and make your decision then." About one week later I called to verify if the Maui Jims were on the way to the store. I was told again that "will we call you when they arrrive" Never called. I ended up purchasing thru Zappos months later. Will never visti this location again. read more

My wife has gotten several frames and lenses here. While she has had good experiences with eye doctors who play musical office chairs, there have been several issues with the front office and lenses. One came back with one lense upside down (bifocals), they cracked a lense while adjusting frames and the latest one involved a simple single vision sunglasses lense that they can't seem to get right. For the price, we would expect better service. We'll be looking for another spot. read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. I asked when I went in if they could bill my insurance company for my eye exam like my eye doctor does and they said yes. If they hadn't been able to, I would have gone to my eye doctor. I have diabetes and don't pay anything for exams, I don't even have a co-pay. I was at this Lens Crafters office for nearly two hours having a preliminary exam, having an exam with the dr., and selecting frames. Then when they were writing my order, they changed their minds and said I had to pay for the exam because they couldn't bill my insurance company after all; or I could just leave, without the prescription, having wasted two hours. I took the prescription and left. Here's my tip for them: If you don't know the answer to a simple, straightforward question, say "I don't know," not "Yes." Retail clerking is not exactly rocket science. Also, the entire time I was there, the office manager was bitching about one of the staff, and that staff person was the nicest and most professional one there! I really liked the doctor, too. I lost my glasses and did not have a backup pair or contacts. It had been over a year since my last eye exam, so before I could get replacement frames or contacts, I needed an exam. I called this location and spoke with Alaine, and after explaining my situation, she went above and beyond to accommodate me. They didn't haven an opening at this location, so she called two other locations and found me an appointment. I had a great experience at Lenscrafters in River Forest last week. I went in to the store to have some glasses repaired and unfortunately they were unable to be fixed. However, the associates there were all very helpful and told me about their sale and priced out some new glasses for me. They made the whole process extremely easy and pleasant. I got a great deal on the glasses and had an eye exam done without an appointment and the doctor was very thorough and nice. I will definately go back there next year! read more

Excellent experience! Wonderful customers service from the get-go. Dr. Chhibba is fantastic, efficient, professional, and kind. The salespeople/optometry assistants here are pleasant and happy to help. They did not pressure me when I did not want to upcharge my visit (expensive exam tests, expensive lenses) and I was in and out in under 1.5 hours from start to finish. Cons: I did not see a clearance section and their selection was somewhat smaller than I was expecting. Still, in some ways the small selection was nice because I did not get overwhelmed/stuck trying on more frames than I needed. I also love that the selection is gender neutral meaning there are no Men or Women labels. Beware, if you come here you will pay $$$$ for frames and lenses! No on-site lab here so 7-10 days is the wait time for new glasses. Basic exam cost me $50. I would probably come back here with my AAA insurance card simply for convenience and because I don't mind the price hikes. read more
