I've came to this location because of the varied appointment options but they over do it with the confirmation process & mask mandate. They will annoy you and call you minimum 3 times a DAY until you answer to confirm your appointment. WHEN THERES AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION SENT. Some people have jobs and can't answer throughout the day. Obviously if someone doesn't confirm anymore, CANCEL IT and be done with it just as every other business does. Also, this is the only establishment in Berwyn that requires a face mask. You walk in and every employee stares at you like you just stole something. Very unprofessional and all the front end employees, there's roughly 5-6 girls and they all stare at each other when a customer comes in to see who attends of them. I paíd for the insurance on my glasses because I was told if I ever lost or damaged them, it would be covered. Despite reading many terrible reviews online I'd still hoped the quality at this location hadn't gone as downhill as I'd heard, because it really used to be great. Unfortunately, everyone else is right. They have very little frame selection to choose from at prices double the actual retail cost. The carpeting is old and dirty, bathrooms aren't stocked and actually HAD A DYING COCKROACH twitching in the corner by the doorway. The Dr.'s staff doesn't know what they're doing, (nor does the janitorial apparently ROACH), the managerial/sales staff has zero idea about true customer service/compassion in a medical office or field and the cost is exhortion for all of it! Yikes, this location needs to be shut down and the poor doctor here deserves a REAL practice, as she seemed to be the only one that knew ANYTHING. The Dr.'s assistant didn't know what she was doing enough to know if a patient was able to get an exam without a glaucoma test and then didn't even know if there was a form to fill out to stating it.She also didn't at least alcohol wipe ANY of the tools we used in the pre-screening process, just put them back where they were with the other items that regularly touch patients hands and faces! Staff here was obviously very money hungry pushing for commissions at the loss of customer service and kindness, very rude and disrespectful. If you don't have insurance, you're not worth their time. Then even if you do... Read my next experience coming back after purchase..! We spent over $800 out of pocket for glasses and contacts and arrived 3 minutes after closing for pickup of at least just the bag of contacts. Two women working completely ignored us tapping at the door/window purposely to avoid helping us even though it was 5:03. Finally after tapping more and calling, a morbidly obese older woman waddled over to the glass and yelled speaking to me rather than to just open the door and talk to me. (When it was freezing and I had my little girl with and could barely hear her). I practically begged her to just please make an exception and let me grab the bag with my contacts as I work all week and need them, was there just a few minutes late, and had been completely ignored, and left in the cold for many minutes with my daughter. She angrily yelled her refusal at me through the glass and walked away from me. Dirty, bug infested, low selection, high cost, rude, unintelligent about their own jobs, lazy, money hungry, uncompassionate and disrespectful. I never had a problem with lens crafters and I've been going there for about 3/4 years but i think this recent experience was SUPER sketchy. So, I ordered glasses online to have it delivered to this location (my area is filled w. people who steal things) and turns out my glasses were never received. It was signed by an associate which they claimed had been on maternity leave for a couple of weeks. The guy that answered the phone was super unhelpful and was treating this situation like nothing. So it leaves me wondering who took my glasses and someone isn't telling the truth. So, if you decide to buy glasses online don't have them sent to this location. Service is good, from the eye exam to the final fitting. But even with good vision insurance, it's just too expensive to buy glasses here. If you have a complicated prescription, require lens coatings, or are interested in progressives, you will pay through the nose for lenses. Even bringing in my own frames, I still ended up paying around $900 for two new sets of lenses (after insurance). Granted they weren't simple lenses, but no way should I have paid that much. That's nuts. Consider Costco (if you are a member) or some of the cheaper vision chains. Service might be a tad slower, and you wont have as many options. But you also won't likely have to take out a loan to pay for eyewear. read more

I ordered lenses through this optical and two days later called them to request my perscription and pupillary distance. I spoke to the manager Olivia and she stated I would have to call the optical where I got my prescription from for the prescription. I said ok but since I bought lenses from you all and you all took the pd measurements can I have that. She stated I couldn't because I'm a new customer. She stated she would give it to me if I was a repeat customer? I called their corporate number spoke to curtis but there was little to nothing that he could do. People don't waste your money and or time dealing with this optical and their useless employees here. I will be returning the glasses for a refund when they come back. I've been to this location numerous times as I live only about 2 miles away, but the staff there is really great. They are kind, Patient, and wanting to accommodate you. I drove by this particular LensCrafters store and stopped in to look at the frames. I had just purchased glasses from another LensCrafters store the previous month at Christmas. I've been a regular customer of LensCrafters at two different locations. When I mentioned that I wanted to look at frames the salesperson asked if I had my prescription with me. I said, "Not with me, but I have the prescription." She told me that I could not touch any of the glasses since I did not have a prescription with me. I asked them how I would know if I liked the frames without trying them on, but she insisted that was the policy. I questioned them more on this policy and was told that having the prescription implies that I will buy something. I know what it implies, but I was a potential customer there to look at frames--I might add a customer who had just purchased from LensCrafters the month before. It was the morning and there were no other customers in the store. The only people there were three employees standing behind the counter. I mentioned that the store was completely empty. They said that they had a 15-person limit and someone could walk in the store with their kids and it might reach the limit. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. This insistence that I not touch any of the frames was really insulting to me. It's an eyeglass store! They didn't ask to look up my purchase record or make an appointment for me to come back. It was really the worst customer service. I have purchased regularly from LensCrafters in the past but I think the company has lost me as a customer due to this terribly negative experience in the store. read more

I don't think I've ever spent as much time in an eye place as I have in this location over the last few months. I was beginning to know the staff's life ambitions and shoe sizes. Been in and out of this place because it was difficult to get things right from the get-go. I have to admit everyone here was super friendly and sweet, but not very experienced and helpful as far as getting customers exactly what they need right off the bat. They steer you in directions that just don't make sense for specific prescriptions and eye needs. Not to mention they got my guy's right eye prescription wrong so that HE needed to go back numerous times! Let's just say I will never go back. The day I walked out the door knowing it would be the last time I NEEDED to go back, I knew it was one less nuisance on my shoulders. LensCrafters has the best eye doctors! I decided to get my prescription at the River forest location on Lake. I seen Dr. Magallanes and she was amazing! I feel comfortable going back to her for a contact fitting and that says a lot because I have had much difficulty in finding an eye Dr over the past few years. River Forest has mostly high end brands with a smaller selection to choose from. But nonetheless their frames are beautiful. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR 40% LENS SPECIAL :) I needed something classic so I made my way over to the LensCrafters on Cermak in Berwyn. Nora helped me and I have to say she was the best! I must've tried on nearly every frame I thought would work and to no avail..Nora was understanding when I explained what I wanted, she was doing her thing getting the store ready to close and when she was putting other frames back she came up to me with a pair I fell in love with! With out her help I truly would have left that evening with out finding a frame but I'm so in love with my glasses that she chose for my face! To my understanding while she was getting my receipt together, she is a new transfer from the River Forest location! #Awesome read more

I got an eye exam here, where I learned I have 20/40 vision. The optometrist was helpful and friendly, and I didn't have to wait long before getting my eyes examined. I felt that the exam was thorough, even though I think I correctly guessed on a bunch of the letters, so hopefully my vision isn't worse than I was told at the end of the exam! My least favorite part was having to keep my eyes bulged open and the optometrist puffed air into each eye. I guess it's all a standard part of an eye exam. I decided I wanted to purchase a pair of glasses to wear while working and especially for driving. The employees were very patient as I tried on a ton of different frames. I've never had glasses before, so I wanted to be really thorough. The employees let me try on several pairs of glasses, took pictures with a camera, and then showed me side-by-side comparisons of how each pair looked on me. This was much more efficient than the self-taken pictures I had been previously snapped with my point-and-shoot. It was super helpful to see how I looked in each pair. I finally decided on the frames I liked the best, they were fitted to my head, and I got to take them home that day (which was good because I was about to leave town). The frames are high quality and the price was a little high, but I suppose decent for Prada. Every once in a while, they slip down the bridge of my nose a little and I have to push them up. Because I have never worn frames before now, I can't tell if this is totally normal or if they could have been fitted to my head better. The huge complaint I have about LensCrafters is the payment plan option. We were not properly informed that the interest would be a whopping 30% and we never received a warning in the mail that the last day for payment was soon. Now, these frames are costing me a lot more than I originally bargained for. Customer service was not helpful on the phone, either. Overall, that's a pretty crappy situation. Five stars for the eye exam and for the helpful employees, 4 stars for the frames, 1 star for the payment plan and customer service. read more

Not a bad place to go for an eye exam, the people are usually nice and the doctors are usually good, but sometimes hit or miss, and there can be some flaky tendencies once in a while as far as ordering contact lenses. Overall it isn't bad, but there is better (Kirk Eye Center in River Forest). It's really like taking a computer to be fixed at Best Buy rather than a computer specialist. You may get someone who is very good and knows what they are doing, or you may get someone who doesn't quite know what they are doing. I haven't had any terrible experiences here, but there is a high turnover rate of doctors here and some of them weren't that good. Being a large chain, they do get good rates for glasses and contacts though. read more

I took my son here for his kindergarten mandatory eye exam and they were wonderful. The Doctor and the Technician were both very patient with him and explained exactly what they were doing and why. He really wanted glasses and was sad when he found out he did not need them, so the Doctor gave him some cardboard glasses to pretend with. The only complaint I have is that the front staff are not very organized. We arrived 10 minutes early for our appointment and had to wait over 30 minutes to be seen. My insurance was processed incorrectly and when I called to ask about getting a refund, the assistant manager blamed me for the incident. I was told by the assistant manager that I had to wait 14 days for my refund and the next day, the store manager approved my refund. I think they didn't want to help me. The fact that the rep couldn't admit to her mistake is beyond me. I'm completely dissatisfied. Also, due to covid, they "sanitize" the frames you try on. Yet, 3 of the frames I tried on, were filthy. This is the worst experience I've ever had with customer service, professional exam, and cost. When I went in to get new glasses, I knew I was going to pay full price as I do not have vision insurance, so I'm fully aware of the costs for getting new glasses. Because I had lost my previous glasses, it was quite urgent that I get new ones, due to my work. After getting examined by a Doctor Who seemed like he was 22 years old, I patiently waited 4 hours for my new glasses. They gave them to me and told me that my prescription on my right eye was a little bit higher than before and that I would have to get adjusted to the new lenses. After wearing them for two days I noticed that something wasn't right with one of the lenses. I went back and made them aware that something wasn't right. One of the ladies at the front desk kept on convincing me that it wasn't the glasses and that it was me. I demanded to speak with the manager, and he noticed that there was something off with one of the lenses. They admitted to making a huge mistake, that later I found out could have seriously affected my vision. All this of course happens in the course of 7 hellish days. I received no apology, and was looked at as a nuisance the whole time I was there. It has been months later now and I have been cleaning my glasses regularly as I did all my other glasses. However something went wrong with the lenses as they look scratched. Mind you I never dropped them or did anything to them. I decided to give this place another chance and I went back in just now, for them to tell me there's nothing they can do, I should've taken care of my glasses better, and they will have to charge me full price for me to get that fixed. In other words I would have to get new lenses. Please bear in mind that I paid over $500 for all of this in the first place. I get better service at Walmarts vision center. Believe it or not! And I will take my business there. This place can go to hell! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, KNOWLEDGE, AND PREDUJICE. I was broke my glasses in two and had an emergency since I needed them to drive. I had a prescription but the first place said two weeks. I went here and asked if they had same day since I needed them badly and was driving out of town for the holiday. Rude and dumb. She said no one in Illinois does same day any more. LIAR there is a place in Rockford that does. She offered no solution or temporary fix. Lazy and bias. GO ACROSS TO PEARLE VISION. Even though they cannot do same day and it takes a week. The amazing staff took a look at them broken in half and gave me a temporary fix. She said she could try to find a frame that fit the existing lens. WHAT..................You saved my life and trip. She went to the basement and after 20 or 30 minutes found several frames that could fit and there. BOOM................glasses. Clearly when I get back I am going back to good customer service and get my new ones. read more

My wife went for her contacts exam. The doctor told her that everything was good with her eyes and gave her her prescription. I noticed that her prescription for contact lenses went down to 2.75 from 3.25 a year ago but didn't think much of it at the moment. I was about to order some contact lenses but then noticed that the prescription was not for the daily use contacts that she uses. I called them and asked them if they could update the prescription to the same brand that they had on the prescription but instead to daily use. They said they couldn't and that a fitting exam was required to update it. After her second exam the doctor told her that her eyes were not in good shape and needed to be more careful when wearing contacts even though only a few weeks had passed since her last exam and was told everything was good then. The new prescription that she received has now gone up to a 3.0 which I don't understand since she was just 2.75 a couple weeks ago. Not only did her prescription change now the brand of contacts changed to the Lens Crafters because my wife was told that their brand was the same as the Acuvue Moist brand and at a better price. I looked up the price of the contacts that they offer and the other brand from an online retailer that I alway use and the price was not even close. I called them and asked if they price match since they tricked my wife into agreeing to the stores brand of contacts saying that they would be at a lower price but that wasn't true. They said that they didn't price match and that when they say that they mean that if you buy them at their store they are at a lower price. I was told if she wants the other brand on her prescription she needs to go for another fitting. This place is not trustworthy and I don't trust their doctors. read more

They have great associates that are willing to help you pick out the perfect pair of glasses. They even have ipads to show you what you look like in each pair. Had an appointment for an eye exam on 9-10-14 at 10:00 A.M. The weather was windy and raining got to the Berwyn location at 9:53 A.M. I looked inside the store and there was an employee inside. I tried to come inside because the wind almost blew me away but the employee only was allowing in other persons arriving I guess they were employees too. It was until 10:03A.M when she decided to let me inside and open the door. I went for my yearly check-up and since I wanted better frames I decided to lenscrafters. I got some rimless frames and they offered me the best lens they had. When I got them the lens looked huge almost like the bottom of bottles. I didn't want them like that and by the way I waited around 8 days to get them. I went back to exchange them and they offered me other type of lens which cost more and made the lens be smaller. I had to wait two weeks to get those frames when they estimated seven days. I ended paying over $500 and over three weeks of my time to be going back and forth. The people there are ok but they are not very attentive or knowledgeable at what they do. My glasses were order 16 days ago and no timeline for delivery. Still paid premium price for normal prescription-nothing special-with substandard service. Very disappointed. Lady there checked my insurance eyemed and said we are good for free exam and eyewear so we did exam found eyewear we wanted but on checkout was told sorry you must pay for eye exam. And lenses were more expensive than previously quoted. Eye exam here is $99.00 x2 other places are $45.00 we had to pay but didnt get glassesout of our budget. Do not come here if you want to get fitted for contact lenses!!!! I came here 2 years ago to be fitted for lenses before getting into an Ophthalmic Tech Program in my school. My teacher looked at my lenses under the slit lamp and they were glued to my eyes!!!! (Way too small/tight on my eyes) this is something that the eye doctor and techs didn't do. They never ever checked the fitting on my lenses. I have a very flat cornea and they failed to give me the correct base curve lenses so that they fit nicely on my eyes and never bothered to check the fit. They're lucky that I got into this program and found out that these are too tight before I got a corneal abrasion or something more serious. Tight contacts means that your cornea is NOT getting air/water through to keep your cornea hydrated. I called, complained and they wanted to charge me for another full exam, pathetic, because they messed up. Why should I have to pay more for their careless mistake? I asked for the manager to call me back so that I could speak to them and never got a call back. read more
