The office staff is rude, they charged us for a service that was covered under our benefits and then didn't refund the whole amount to us. They forgot to add on the order invoice for my husbands lenses to be edge polished and it still took a month to get our glasses. Now they took my husbands glasses back to get edge polished and wouldn't even tell us how long it will take. If you have Davis insurance they do not like you. They have our glasses off the showroom floor in the corner of the store like we are paupers. These people do not care about your vision only how much money they can steal!!! Dishonest business practices, don't go here. Terrible customer service! You will only aggravate yourself by stepping foot in that store!!! read more

We have been going there for about 5 years. I'm not sure why that reviewer would complain about a prescription running out after a year. You have to have your eyes checked every year to make sure the prescription doesn't change, so of course it was expired. O.o Anyway, we like him. We have had no problems with his staff or him. He's always super friendly and explains things really well. Same for the staff. They're great with our 2 1/2 year old as well. I went to Dr. Guenther for about a year. I recently switched to Meijer optical & they are far more helpful and nicer than the staff at In Focus. Also, the eye doctor at Meijer found my real prescription and the one dr. guenther gave me was way too strong, causing discomfort & strain on my eyes. The women working the front desk are extremely rude & disrespectful. They act like they are better than me and can never answer a question without a rude comment. I will never go back. read more

I purchased a pair of glasses in 2010 and I was pushed into buying tri-focals rather than what I wanted which was bi-focals. I informed the girl that I normally wear contacts and then put my readers over them when I need to read or work on my computer so why would I need a third script for computer work, when I can see perfectly with my readers? She said you don't need that strength. Well guess what, I paid all this money for my glasses and can't use them when I want to give my eyes a break from my contacts since I can't see to work on my laptop. Bottom line, he does have a lot of nice glasses, but what does having a big selection of glasses when they don't know how to fit the correct script and you can't wear them? Tried calling staff, but they are rude and think they are right. So I changed eye doctors, who I love and still have the glasses which I have only worn a couple of times. I am planning on bringing them in to get bi-focals put in so I can get some wear out of them. read more

I gave this place two years. No more. Dr. Gunther is fine but his staff is a bunch of smug women who talk down to you. Plus they are only open until 1 and 2 pm except 7 on Tuesday. What kind of hours are these? If his staff doesn't want to work I am sure he could find others to fill their spot. My family and I have been going to Dr Guenther for many years. They do a great job. The staff is also very good a helping you find a frame that fits your face as well as your personality. I just had to write because of the comments made by 2 other reviewers. The lady with the tri-vocals obviously doesn't get the point that should would no longer need the readers. That's why you get trifocals you can see up close and far away. The lady that has a script for 2 years....well your eyes can change after 6 months of a new prescription. That's no fault of the doctor. I recommend In Focus to anyone. read more

Went here due to proximity to my home and accepting of eye insurance. Doctor was fair. Examined eyes and gave prescription for contacts. When I got home I reviewed it and it was incorrect based upon our discussion in the office. I Had to follow up and get him to write the script that we discussed. The following year I went to Target for contacts since my exam insurance was already used up by an Opthamologist for an eye condition. The young woman OD put me in my REAL Rx for contacts. He was way off. And now I can see beautifully. He has a huge selection of glass frames. That's all I can say. read more

What a great experience I had at this office. Kathy, Mary and Maureen are so very helpful. My two kids and I absolutely love the glasses that they helped us select. They are so good at finding just the right pair for each of us. The place has an awesome selection of designer glasses at all price points. Dr. Guenther is a wonderful optometrist who truly cares for each of his patients. He takes his time and uses his great expertise to make sure you eyes are getting the best treatment needed. I have used the dispensing opticians here for 2 years now. I find the staff very friendly and helpful, They are also very accommodating if I need adjustment. My whole family has been going here for several years. My husband ended up with a retinal tear that the Dr. sent him to a specialist for. The contacts here were much less expensive than another eye place we use to visit in Mokena! I was referred to Dr. Guenther by a family member a few years ago and I have been very pleased with the service I received. For my first visit, making the appointment was simple. The office ran on-time, the doc provided a very thorough exam and explained to me what he was doing along the way. After the exam, I started looking for frames. The staff helped me find a frame that I am still very happy with. I then came back when my glasses were ready and the staff adjusted and fitted my glasses. Benn going here for 8 years since Lasik surgery. My previous Dr lied to me to just sell me glases said I never could get the surgery went and had the surgery and I am fine. Dr Guenther has handled my after surgery eye care and all my families eye problems since 2008, from allergies to reading glasses. Kids glasses get bent from playing. They fix right away. I've been going here for years. As a matter of fact, I moved about 45 minutes Southeast of Mokena, yet my wife and I still go all the way out there for our eye exams contacts and frames. I don't normally review places online, but after seeing all of the negative reviews on here, I felt obligated to defend their honor. :) Dr Gunther is a great doctor. He is very friendly and listens to what you have to say. My prescriptions are always right. He only sees me once every year or two, yet he always remembers me. He even came up to me outside of the office once and remembered my name. Never have I had a doctor who seems to care so much about his patients. I can't disagree completely about the "smug women", as the other reviewer described them, but their personality is not enough to keep me from giving In Focus 5 stars. They are very knowledgeable, attentive, have a great selection of glasses and have worked with me in the past to fit me in at a moments notice when I had a concern over what turned out to be an infection in my eye. They work with me to look at my insurance and decide what are my best and most cost-effective options. I would recommend In Focus to anyone and will never go any place else read more

As far as I can tell, Dr. Guenther did a good job. However, his office staff can't figure out how to do their jobs. I requested a price for 4 pairs of glasses that I was going to purchase before the end of the year. They sent in the order for 2 of the frames that weren't in stock when I was in, and they gave me a rough estimate because they could not give me a more exact amount without the office manager's approval. That was a week ago. I have followed up with an email and 2 phone calls. The email was never answered. The office manager told me she was working on it and she would send it to me via email soon. The last call was this morning. Still no pricing. It seems like either they are incompetent or they don't want my money. Maybe both. read more

He is a decent doctor who is majorly handicapped by a front office staff that is rude, careless, and incompetent. I went there for an eye exam which went fine (except he never gave me dilating drops) and then all my problems started. I asked one of the office ladies if she could switch out a broken nose pad on my year-old glasses from a different eye doctor. She did it; however, she put a quarter inch gash on the inside of my glasses. I unfortunately didn't notice this until I got home and cleaned them. Two days later, I picked up my new colored contacts, which were awful because I could not see out of them. I mentioned to the office lady the scratch on my glasses and without even letting me finish my sentence she just said "I didn't do it" something it seems that all the office women are trained to do because that was everyone's reaction on each subsequent visit I made to fix the problems. She said to bring the glasses in so they can see them. So the next day, a Friday, I went back to return the colored contacts and to speak with them again about my scratched glasses. Again their reaction was "I didn't do it." I also mentioned that my contacts aren't working and she claimed that there was no way I bought these contacts there, in essence calling me a liar. She looked up my chart and lo and behold the contacts were from this eye doctor. She and the rest of the office women then went into the back to probably talk bad about me for five minutes to only come out and say that since it was Friday the doctor wasn't in and only he can fix issues like these. So I stormed out of there. I finally received a call from the doctor and he also inferred that I was lying and that none of his "girls" up front would do something like that without owning up to it. But he was willing to make me pay for the lab fee to replace my lens. How is that right? Make the customer pay for your carelessness. He would also exchange my contacts to clear ones. So the following Monday I went in to pick up the new contacts and had to spend over 30 minutes arguing with the doctor about paying for the new lens and that I was now being charged $180 for contacts that only cost $60 for a 6 month supply. He was finally willing to give me $50 back but he still robbed me. He also wanted me to sign some form saying they were not responsible for any damage the lab does to my glasses. I mean, why the hell should I be now short a full set of glasses based off their mistake? So I refused to sign the sheet and he gave in after debating it for 5 minutes or so. My glasses did come back from the lab unscathed but just aggravated me on principle. Sorry this review is so long. In short, avoid this establishment. There are better eye doctors in the area with MUCH better service. This doctor seemed to miss the Business 101 concept that the customer is always right. He and his staff instead opt to call them liars. I will be returning to my old eye doctor, also in Mokena, for my vision needs. I have gone there for over 10 years and never had any problems. Even if something wasn't working, they always try very hard to get it right. I unfortunately only went somewhere new to make sure I wasn't paying too much. The cost was so much higher at In Focus (even with my Davis vision discount!). What I was paying for a YEAR supply of contacts at my other doctor is what I paid for only a six month supply at In Focus (comparing contacts plus exam and fitting). Total rip off!! Trying In Focus Eyecare was the worst mistake I have ever made!!! read more

I have been to In Focus for my last two yearly eye appointments and have been happy with the service. I didn't have to wait long to see Dr. Guenther once I arrived and he didn't take all day to test my vision. At my previous optometrist's office, I was left waiting at least 20 minutes to see him--then led to a room to wait some more . . . My appointments would run between 1-2 hours! I was so happy to be seen promptly and to be on my way with a new contact lenses ordered in about 30 minutes (for each appt. in the last two years). Dr. Guenther was professional and friendly--just enough small talk to not be annoying and he explained each test and what it revealed about my eyes. The office staff were nice and professional, too.
