Went for my first visit, the staff,the Dr were all great. Everything was thoroughly explained to me. When I was choosing my glasses, Melissa was VERY Helpful, kind, and never once rushed me. I think they are are a bit pricy, even with my insurance my my visit, including everything plus contact lens fitting, not purchasing contacts at this time but did get glasses, my portion was $750. But I am over all pleased and I will recommend the office to others. read more

I have been a long time customer for over 20 years. I have brought my children up coming to this eye doctor facility and I myself was a patient of Dr. Michelle Millard. Went there 2 years ago and found out she was not longer there. Fast forward to today, i was trying to book an appointment to get a basic eye exam and while doing so, I called, the phone rang twice, phone picked up and i was tossed on hold without being asked if it was okay for me to be placed on hold. I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service at this office. The staff is ratchet, unprofessional, dismissive, and made no effort to communicate clearly or respectfully. A medical office should make patients feel supported, not ignored. I won't be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone. Waited 45 days for scheduled appointment, filled out all the new patient forms even tho I've been to them in past years, left work early to make the 45 minute drive, only to be told I need to reschedule because I was 12 minutes late after being stopped by a 15 minute train. Apparently I missed the deadline by 2 minutes and there was "nothing they could do". I understand I was 12 minutes late, but you'd think they'd take into account I took a half day and drove nearly an hour after waiting a month and a half for the appointment. By far the worst experience ever! I visited this office in the beginning of November of 2024 as of today, April 9, 2025 my glasses are not right. I have been to this office 6 times. As of today they have not been able to correct my prescription. I had 2 eye exams completed and many office visits. I paid $600 out of pocket not including what the insurance paid for. They wont refund me my money. They changed the prescription a couple of times, and they never got it right. Then they did not include the addons that I paid for. I paid for the blue vision and the polarized which is pricey. I just got back from another eye center and had them check the prescription on the new glasses that I got from Galimard and the prescription is incorrect. How can they get this wrong so many times? I have been patient. All I want now is to get a refund. I have very expensive glasses that I cant use. What a waste of money and time. Keep in mind when I went for the 6th time she promised me that I would get a refund if the prescription was incorrect. They refuse to refund me. Please stay away from this place! read more

I have been trying to find a good optometrist since relocating back to the area a few years ago. After visiting Gailmard earlier this year, I don't think I will return. I was having issues with blurry vision in one eye, which I mentioned to the eye doctor. When I went to order lenses, the employee told me that my eye doctor had recommended that I get Neurolenses. I ended up ordering them even though this brought my total bill to almost $1,000 since it's not covered by insurance. I get frequent headaches and was hoping the Neurolenses would help with that as well as the blurry vision. When I received my new glasses, I was dismayed to see that I was still having blurry vision issues, even after giving time for adjustment. I returned for a rescreen, and my prescription was slightly tweaked. The eye doctor went into more detail during this visit about my apparent dry eye symptoms, which is what she says was causing the blurry vision. It then took a month to get my adjusted prescription! The Neurolenses have a return policy, and I thought about returning them during that window, but in the end, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I didn't want to risk having to wait another 4 weeks for glasses. I still notice that one eye is more blurry than the other, and I guess I'll be looking for yet another optometrist next year. read more

My 9-year-old son went for an eye exam and he was nervous, Dr Ralick and her staff were very patient with him and made him feel very comfortable, and he got his very first pair of eyeglasses. My insurance paid for almost the entire visit and glasses. Joyce helped him select glasses that looked great and were very comfortable for him and spent time with him to make sure that he picked the right ones, and Melissa at the front desk was super helpful. When i arrived as an emergency office visit whereby you have to pay extra for a same day appt. I requested to see Opthalmologist however they dont have a single Opthalmologist on staff. They informed me that their Optometrist could diagnosis any issue as well as a real Opthalmologist. I then met with Veronica Ralick, O.D. Her diagnosis of my eye and headache issue were due to a possible sinus infection & dry eyes. I was visiting nearby in Shererville. I live in Calif. My condition got worse after following her dry eyes medical kit i bought at the office. When i returned to Calif I immediately visited my normal Opometrist whereby they also have a Opthalmologist on staff. They suspected might have the very dangerous Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA). I was advised to proceed to an ER hospital for immediate attention as i had already gone blind temporary and if left unattended i would go blind in both eyes. 5 days at UCLA hospital, dozens of tests and biopsy of my temporal artery (surgery of temple area by ear) resulted in a positive GCA diagnosis. Now i have a treatment plan that extends to 1 year. I do not recomend this business read more

I would choose to give Gailmard zero stars if that were possible. The customer care is horrible. I paid out of pocket for tear care (for dry eyes) and was never provided follow up care...in fact they cancelled my appointment and told me they would follow up when they had the necessary equipment available. They never returned my call and when I finally followed up, they told me they misunderstood the situation. The doctor providing the service knew I was having alot of trouble after the procedure and never followed up..in fact,m while his name was on listed on the door, I was later told he was only there temporarily. Now I am attempting to get trial contacts and have been for 4 weeks. After 2 orders that were never fulfilled, I am now told they don't provide free trials. Hmmm..... read more

Took 2 hours off work to take my 10 year old for annual eye exam, walked in at 3:35 for a 3:40 appointment, no one was in the waiting room at all. The self righteousness front desk personnel, stated the appointment was at 3 20, I said no, my reminder said 3:40, she demanded that I show it to her, of course I couldn't pull it up on the spot!! Asked if they could just do the appointment, they stated NO!! We would have to come back in January. We left, got home, I found the reminder, sure enough stated 3:40, I emailed it to the office so the self righteousness staff could see I am not a idiot or liar and I can read!! This rating is for eyewear not the doctors. Used to have great service in the eyewear department, they used to give you Lindor chocolate truffles with your order. Now more than likely to save money the professional staff has been replaced with less than knowledgeable staff that act like stereotypical Used Car sales people. This is the start of my third year of wearing glasses. I hope I'm typing this correctly, because I don't currently have them on. A few years ago, I noticed things were starting to look a little blurry, especially at night. I figured I'd call and get an appointment and see what was up. Especially when I'd gone to the DMV and THEY told me I should probably get my eyes checked. Nice, thank you. I saw Dr. Moles, and she was great! The assistants (forgive me, I'm sure they have technical degrees, but for the life of me, I have no idea what to properly call them) were friendly, helpful, and very informative. After all the initial tests, Dr. Moles informed me that I had a slight prescription in my left eye, but not to worry about it. Cool. For my annual review, I saw Dr. Sprehe. She was top notch as well, and made the experience enjoyable. After your exam, or while you wait for your eyes to dialate, you can browse different selections of glasses frames and sunglasses. They have a great variety and many styles and prices to choose from. If you're wondering about glasses, don't. They'll help you pick out a pair that's right for you, and fits within your budget. They will suggest different add-ons for your glasses, but they're just suggestions. With that being said, I got Transitions with my first pair. I wanted them to change in the car, but they don't. Bummer. However... The NEW and improved Transitions Active are awesome! They come with a slight tint already (meaning they don't go 100% "clear"), but it's hardly noticable indoors. And what a difference they make driving at night!!! +1 I can't believe how much the slight tint cuts down on glare from the other headlights. Anyway, I hightly recommend the staff and doctors here at Gailmard's. Call for an appointment, you won't be disappointed!!! read more

Always like going here to be treated well and usually on time, which is rare for a Dr's office of any sort. Dr. Sprehe listens! Prices are comparable to almost any optometrist (except Wal-Mart & that's not who I want to go to for my eye health). I went to this eye care center for all my eyeball needs from ages 10-18, and after a 20 year hiatus, just went back for an exam after moving back to the region several years ago. The same doctor who I saw as a teen is still there (and looks the same somehow... way to age, Dr. Moles) and was exactly as I remembered her! Thorough, direct, excellent! Not really relevant to this review, but Dr. Moles is probably responsible for keeping me from going blind as an irresponsible teen wearing sleep in contacts for months at a time (hint, you're not supposed to do that). She told me my corneas were growing veins to bring oxygen to my eyes since my eyes couldn't breathe with my contacts in all the time. That scared, pardon my french, the ever-loving shit out of me and I haven't slept in a contact since. I'm happy to report my corneas are now vein-free. Yes, this costs more than a strip mall Visionworks or what have you, but they do a lot more in-depth testing. It's a completely different experience. In addition to macular degeneration, glaucoma, and all the other tests they do that you don't get for your $89 strip-mall exam, Dr. Moles found that my rx from America's Best was a half a point too strong in one eye, and a quarter point too strong in my right. So that's the risk you run if you're not willing to spend the extra cash. Not like I was at risk of going blind or anything, but eye strain sucks. I can tell the difference having the right prescription already, and it's only been about a month. read more

I've been going here for a few years and am always impressed. This most recent visit, I had to leave by a certain time to make it to another dr appointment. Dr Moles and the staff went into high gear. But make no mistake, they are thorough. In fact, during the contact lens fitting, my old Rx wasn't fitting quite right and Dr Moles wanted to try another. When that was a little off she wanted to order trials to be sure. She apologized for taking the time and I laughed and said, "if there is anytime I want OCD, it's will my Doctors." She and the tech laughed and and we joked but you could tell, Dr Mole sisnt happy unless it's right. I was in and out in an hour and felt extremely confident in the thoroughness of my exam. read more

Specifics: Dr Moles is ALWAYS a bright, engaging, put-together bundle of efficiency. All questions answered, no matter how pathetic they might seem coming from an aging hypochondriac such as me. Joyce: Where did you guys find her? I'd like to go back and sit in your lobby just to watch her work her magic with customers, as creepy as that may sound and, don't worry it won't happen! Joyce is so engaging, so optimistic and full of life that she almost had me buying a pair of glasses for my cat! What a charming woman she is! And everyone else I interacted with that morning, whose names I have sadly forgotten, was just SPOT ON friendly and fun to speak with. I'm old. That stuff is important to us geezers. This was my first time coming to this location, my visit did not last long. I was basically in and out, everyone was extremely helpful.

I am extremely disappointed at Gilmard eye center, I actually not longer will be doing any kind of business with them. I would like everyone to know why. I made an appointment a month ago for my 11 years old son and myself, I received several text messages from gilmard to confirm our appointments and so I did. I also received several emails. Due to COVID pandemic, appointments are very hard to find these days so we patiently waited. The day before my appointment I received a voicemail saying they needed my insurance card, I listen to my message after I finished my 11 hrs shift at work at 8 pm. I figured I will be there tomorrow and give them my insurance information. Well to my surprise when I arrive today to my appointment 10 minutes before my schedule time, after taking an unpaid day off at work and pulling my son from school, I was told "sorry we canceled your appointment because you didn't call back yesterday by 5 pm" with your insurance information. I can't put in words how shocked I was! I asked for the manager and a lady came over and while I was explaining all this, all she did was move her head up and down. They told me because they did not have anyone else booked at that time they could take my son but that I would have to come back. At that point I was so shocked that they would deliberately cancel my appointment without even informing me., I even told the "Manager" which is one of the worse I ever had to deal with I can somehow understand if we were new patients....but my family and I had been coming to Gilmard Eye center for years ....or how about if I simply don't have insurance and I chose to pay out of pocket? I am still shock that after being a customer for almost 10 years and also patients for the same length of time they would be so disrespectful with their patients times and lives. Today, I planned being at Gilmard for about 6-7 hours, because that how long you are there if you bring your child .....and here I am in shock writing this review. Gilmard Eye center did not care for a minute that I will not longer attend to the doctors there (who my son and I really liked) nor will be spending money on glasses that for sure are not cheap. Gilmard eye center, today maybe you don't care you are losing the loyalty of a family of 5 but eventually if you continue to provide this kind of patient and customer service you would lose the loyalty of many more. So much for being in a pandemic and being respectful and understanding. Very disappointing read more

Im writing this review as im sitting here waiting to be helped. Another person came in after me and was helped before I was. Im sitting here waiting while no one is paying attention. I had to go up to the receptionist and politely ask her why people were being seen before me. Her response "Oh I dont know I put your paperwork down, you are getting Hoya safety glasses and I know some of the techs are afraid to do those"..... Ummmm excuse me ? While im here puzzled and baffled at this response?! What "professional" eye center responds saying that?! Shortly after I was helped but seemed very rushed. They didn't go over all my lens options my job covers which I already knew of because I did my research before hand. Absolutely worst customer service as well as very unprofessional. I was not only going to get my safety glasses I was going to purchase a $200 pair of Ray Bans out of pocket but after that experience I would not recommend this place to anyone and shame on the establishment owners for having such an unprofessional and uneducated staff! read more

This was my first ever eye exam so I really didn't know what to expect here. Let me tell you I was blown away. First the place is very clean and modern. I have been going to Gailmard for many years. The optometrist there are very good and very thorough. I am writing this most grateful review, however, because I recently bent my frames pretty bad and one of the lenses popped out. I took it to their sales side completely expecting to purchase a new pair. The eyeglass technician there was extremely nice and helpful, took my glasses in the back, and actually came out with the frames fixed and the lens back in place!!!! I asked about the fee for this, and she said "no charge"! I think her name was Kristy but I could be wrong. It was one of those experiences where you felt so valued as a customer! read more
