Excellent speedy as well as very knowledgeable quality work. I called them to install a Schlage Sense lock which we had installed incorrectly. Once I explained the symptoms he knew exactly what the issue was and rectified it. It's been a while since I've done a review. A business has to truly impress, in order for me to take the time to write an analysis and 'ABC Locksmith SF' certainly has. I came to the shop looking to have a century-old key copied. I live in a Victorian House and was told by numerous locksmiths that I'm out of luck because those types of keys are no longer being produced. Luckily, they recommended 'ABC Locksmith SF' because they have a more varied collection of Victorian keys to choose from. As soon I came-in, Mr. Ramon and Rey greeted me with a smile and my attention was drawn to how nicely lit the shop and how organized it was. I told Mr. Ramon my predicament, and he asked to examine the key so he can find a suitable replacement. In the meantime, I was roused by his attention to detail. In less than 45 seconds, he came back with a similar-looking key, which, I haven't told him actually worked!... I'm sure he'll know as soon as he sees this review. Hehehe... And get this, he told me he didn't want to get paid because he said he didn't carve a copy. Needless to say, I was shocked!... Nothing is FREE nowadays... I literally forced him to take my payment. Why customers spend their money and time on individuals or services that have nothing to offer??? In fact, they have less than nothing. Read on and the answer will be clear at the end. Today I went to this store and handed the counterperson (female, grey hair, 60+ yo) a key. Her question was: "what is that"? I said, a key. She looked at me puzzled and said: "I can't help you". I went to the motorcycle/scooter dealer and purchased a blank key. Upon returning to the ABC locksmith, I presented the blank key with the actual key to be copied and she told me: "I don't copy anything that I don't sell". Unreal. A scene of the Twilight zone. I then proceeded to go to Lock World where the service was prompt, professional, and friendly. I had the key made in less than 5 min for $5 (NO TAX) because I bought my own blank. All with a smile. To answer the very first question: I did not know. I wished I had read a review and I hope this one helps someone else: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! PS- I hope to I can attach a photo. Interested in supporting a small business, I visited three times on weekdays before finally finding them open (pandemic hours not listed online; extra days off at Thanksgiving...). 2. Wouldn't cut copies of a Medeco key. (I'm a clean-cut 63-year-old buying multiple copies of everything because I'd been burglarized.) 3. $5 each for small mailbox keys 'because those blanks are more expensive.' I accidentally locked my car key in the trunk today, and I had no spare. After searching Yelp, I found a locksmith within a mile and a half from my apartment. I called ABC and told the locksmith what had happened and asked what could be done to get my key back. He said he couldn't use a slim jim, or a device like that, because I have a convertible. He did suggest that Honda could make a valet key, and all he would need is the VIN number. I gave him the info, and within 45 minutes, he was outside my building with the key. ABC is new go to locksmith, I had an issue with my lock gate key turning all the way without opening the gate, the problem is a $4 part but of course the easy part is taking out the cylinder, the more challenging is put it back together. After battling it for a while, we had to go back to ask for guidance & the lady was kind & generous to walk us thru by doing a demo. Other locksmiths would have tried to up sell you a new cylinder which would have meant a new copies of keys & with 2 units this is a pain. They were able to pick my e-bike lock which was impossible to pick as per the manufacture, someone basically stole my keys and my e-bike was no good without them. I spoke with Ramon about my situation and on a call and he mentioned to come up to his shop and he'd be able to sort it out for me. Ramon and Ray both put their 100% to help me out my situation. I would recommend 10 out of 10 my car was broken into in an attempt to steal it which led to my key on my push-to-start vehicle not being able to connect to my car leaving me no access to my car. This place is the real deal. Katy knows her trade inside and out, gave me great advice, and is a throw back from a time when folks lived their word, did what they promised, and didn't try to sell you crap you don't need. If she can't do what you need, she'll tell you straight up. Warning to clueless internet consumers: this is a real business run by actual humans. If they don't kiss your B**t, maybe that's actually YOUR problem, not theirs... street level retail will be gone soon, no mall kiosk or key copying app will ever replace the depth of knowledge and experience you'll get face to face.
