Whenever I'm in Queens- I stop by here for their noodles and bbq squid!!…read more Ever since I discovered this spot a couple months ago I make a point to come here any time I have the chance. It's a regular spot for me- they have very quick service and the servers are kind. With the noodle soups, you can choose the type of noodle you want with the soup. There's a decent amount of seating inside with window seating options. What I've had: -BBQ squid: MUST! my constant go to every single time!! It usually comes on a stick and You can have it made spicy where it comes with some Szechuan spices on top. If I'm looking for protein, this is my definite go to. -Signature Lan Zhou Beef Noodles: MUST!! When you go to a noodle spot, you have to get noodles! And this bowl was NOT a disappointment!! BEAUTIFUL THOROUGH FLAVOR- such a nice cozy meal and the noodles- I chose regular noodles and I added bok choy to my bowl at an extra charge. This was such a pleasure and some of the best beef soup I have had yet. Will definitely be back here.

Be sure to register for the rewards program and in no time you'll be redeeming points for free beers and bottles of soju. It's totally possible to not drink alcohol here, though the food menu certainly pairs perfectly with a refreshing beverage. My favorite skewers are the pepper steak, salt chicken, and the cute lil corn kernels. Ask for a side of chili powder if you like it spicy. Also, the red willow beef is hilarious: if you want to go caveman-mode and eat meat off a thick stick, this is the way to go. There's tons more than just skewers on the menu. I like the stir-fried pork with hot green peppers, the spicy instant noodles dish, and the kimchi fried rice. While it's possible to order relatively healthy food here, the temptation to indulge is quite strong. This place can get busy but I typically don't have to wait for a table. The ambiance tends to be buzzy and lively. I personally am a big fan of the tablet ordering system and this business does it right.

I'm so glad we did. Seven Scents was absolutely delicious and worth the detour. We ordered several skewers for the table, including the beef and the pork. Each item was so well seasoned, the spices brought out a depth of complex tastes: salty, spicy, peppery, umami. The meat was well charred, the flavor craveable. I think about that night to this day. Seven Scents is well worth the visit.

At first, we were a little disappointed because so many of the menu options were pork, which we can't have. But the chicken soup dumplings and braised lamb noodle soup completely made up for it! I went for early dinner and not too many people yet, which was nice. Staff were friendly. The server/front desk guy kept checking to make sure my water was filled, but I didn't drink much water because I had soup already. Appreciated it though. Good service. How's the food? I tried a few items: pork xiao long bao, shrimp and luffa xiao long bao, Shanghai-Style Shepherds Purse Wonton soup and liver and kidney noodles. The xiao long bao and the noodles were decent. I couldn't taste a big difference between the ones with just pork and the ones with shrimp, pork and luffa, but plain pork comes in 8 pc and the other is 4pc, so just pork is probably fine. The shepherds purse wontons were just okay. It's a slightly thicker skin than most other wontons. The broth is mild. If I had to choose between xiao long bao and wonton, then the xiao long bao was much better. They have chili oil, vinegar and soy sauce at each table. I used the chili oil for a little bit of a kick. I had the iced sweetened soy milk too. That was pretty good. Definitely a good add to the meal. Overall, a good place to eat at if you wanted to gather and chat with some friends in LIC. They didn't rush the table. The food all came out so fast. I ate in under an hour.

UPDATED (for 2 additional visits) - It is our fav ramen spot in LIC/Astoria!…read moreAmbiance (5/5): The establishment has a very sleek interior with an open, welcoming layout. Although close to other tables, when I dined there was no one nearby. There is also bar seating in the front. Service (5/5): I came on a weekend night at 7:30p and there was no wait. Tonkotsu ramen (5/5): Pro move: ask for the thicker noodles (pic is original dish of thin noodles) This was a superb bowl of ramen! The broth is very umami with tons of depth, flavors, and creaminess. Noodles are the straight kind which has a little less bounce than I usually like but still plenty portioned to enjoy. The bowl comes with a lovely half soft boiled egg. The two large pieces of pork char sui were great--tender and flavorful. Reasonably priced bowl at $18 with some additional toppings like wood ear mushrooms, bamboo, green onions, and narutomaki. Definitely coming back here again to try their other bowls!! Pork belly buns (5/5): If you are already getting the pork belly in the ramen, this can be skipped since it's the same meat. However, the sauce was good and the meat is tender. Crab croquette (4/5): It tasted fresh and consistency of a normal croquette-- crunchy on the outside with a softness from potato on the inside. The light panko seasoning was a nice touch. It also comes with a small side of salad. Wagyu (5/5) - thin pieces of wagyu were very fresh and flavorful. The broth feels very soothing and lighter as it was but not as rich as the tonkotsu. I loved the pickled cucumber and cabbage. The thick noodles are perfectly bouncy and chewy. Shoyu Duck (4/5) - Light broth as I did not taste the undertones of duck in the broth.

Cuisine: 8 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 7 Ramen shops are everywhere in NYC nowadays. However, most of them are average at best. Looking for a quick bite last week in LIC right in the heart of court square, I found this little restaurant. Walking in, it's quite spacious and nicely decorated. Two of us were seated promptly and given menu and water immediately. After a quick look through, we settled on an appetizer to share and two ramen bowls. The Popcorn Shrimp was unfortunately not made very well. Many of the pieces of shrimps were stuck to each other's batter. It didn't taste horrible, just not preferable. On the other hand, the ramens were made extremely well. The Chicken Paitan Ramen has a savory but clean chicken broth that would be perfect when feeling under the weather. The chicken was super tender and the egg was delightfully yolky, while the chewy noodles were a great match for the dish. With that said, my favorite item of the evening had to be the Toriniku Ramen. It had a rich and deep pork flavor that completely elevates my senses to another level. The pork jowl was thick cut and very delicious. Last but not least, the straight firm thin noodles were the perfect accompaniment. I don't look for ramen as often as I use to any more due to the climbing cost of a bowl of these noodles, this place included. However, if I'm in the mood, and don't feel like trekking to Manhattan, then I may just very well end up here.

Everything was flavorful, well prepared, and thoroughly enjoyed by all three of us. The best part? The total was under $200, including a 20% tip, which felt like an excellent value for the quality and variety of food. The only downside was that our server spoke no Chinese and didn't seem to have much familiarity or connection with the cuisine, so it was difficult to get detailed explanations about some of the dishes. That said, the food itself absolutely delivered, and we would happily return.

It's just a generic wall with no decor, might be just be how the building landlord wants it but once you come in its light night and day. The ambiance was nice and beautiful. Yellow tofu shrimp. The flavor was not too strong and was closer to the weak side.. The did shirmp works very well with the flavor though. Even though it worked well, I wouldn't order it again just because of how weak the flavor was. Has some ham? The Golden prawn was definitely lacking in presentation a bit but the flavor was good. For that golden look, it used a yolk type of flavor which was very good, very enjoyable. The corn and onions in the dish also brings up the flavor by not making the yolk flavor be everything. Yes the yolk was the star of the show but having the other flavors really brings some much appreciated depth of flavor. The Truffle Beef cubes was a bit of a let down though. The flavor was decent but the beef cube is too thick for the flavor to really be in every bite. The flavor only sits right on the surface and doesn't penetrate the beef at all. For the green pepper beef, it was a very generic dish. Doesn't stand out compared to any other Chinese food place. You'd be better saving your stomach space for trying something else and getting this dish elsewhere if you're craving it. The sweet and sour pork. Like most other dishes here, the flavor was a little mild.the pork was also a tiny tiny bit overcooked Still very enjoyable 8/10. Pork and Cabbage mala Very smoky flavor. Decent but a little too smoky for me. I do like a little smokiness to my food but this was a bit too much for me. The cabbage was also thin so they were using the more other leaves of a cabbage. The flavor is a bit better than the inner leaves but it leaves a much desired crunch that you don't get from the outer leaves. The Garlic salt and pork rib was Ok. The breading is nice and crispy but not in a crackly way. It also wasnt actually that salty so the flavor isn't that strong My overall feel of this place is that it's very different from many of the more ubiquitous Chinese food places. This place was gorgeous inside and the dishes were all decent. They all felt light and inoffensive which isn't really a bad thing but at the same time, I wish they had more umph. Nothing here really struck me as a, " wow this is amazing, you need to try it"type of food. The price felt on the higher end for how small the dishes were but it felt understandable.

The beef was generally good, quite tender overall, although some pieces were a bit harder to chew (more of the tendon or sinew). The broth was very rich and fragrant, and was a bit spicier than I expected, even though I ordered mild. The price point was great, too -- the portion size was so big and filling that it probably could have been two smaller meals. I'll definitely try to come back and try some of their other dishes!

The particular weekend we went (July 5), the air conditioning unit was broken so we were melting inside. Wooden benches and stools with no backs were not comfortable. Service (4/5): There was only one server bustling back and forth. She did a great job in getting orders, refilling waters, and closing out for just her. There were times we had to flag her down. Spicy chicken wings (5/5): Perfect exterior skin crunch with not too much breading. The sauce was light and not overpowering. Deluxe (5/5) and TanTan (5/5) were both very flavorful. Slightly preferred the Tan Tan more because it had a kick and more spice. I requested some extra chili oil for the Deluxe to give it a little more flavor. However, I felt like the broth was too salty. Pork slices were thin was flavored through with not too much fat to the pieces, so it wasn't tender or rich. I love the bounce and chew of the noodles. Definitely one of the better ramen shops in the neighborhood.
