I live in the neighborhood. This is now one of my neighborhood joints. Have gotten both takeout and seated lunch/brunch a couple times now. Great kid-friendly option since they open at 10am on weekends and have a ton of seating, and space for strollers. I would never travel out of my way to come here, so lol at the tiktokers thinking this is supposed to be a trendy place. It's honestly well priced for the neighborhood. The only other comparable place is Dim Sum Palace. Not sure where you get better dumplings or XLBs or beef roll pancakes, and at least they are fresh (Dim Sum palace is just reheated frozen food). Food comes out fast. XLB is above average, thin skin is my bar. Soy milk is solid. Beef roll pancake is delicious and well balanced. Scallion dry noodles are solid. And the service is really friendly too. They have high chairs and our kid liked the food

Overall I was satisfied with my dinner! It was reasonably priced especially for LIC. The bad reviews almost scared me from trying, but I'm glad I went. The XLB was definitely the best item! It was really juicy, but not a lot of meat filling. If they increased it by 50%, it would be really good. I didn't think the wrapper was that thick (coming from someone who never eats the wrapper), I ate 90% of the wrapper here. The worst was the scallion pancake. It was too much dough and not enough scallion flavor for me. The noodles were fine as well. It wasn't mind blowing, but we ate all of it. The snow pea tips were a tad too salty, but wasn't as oily as other places. The wontons in peanut sauce were very veggies heavy, a bit shocking at first but I sill tasted meat so I didn't mind. I didn't like the sauce because I don't like peanut/sesame based sauce, but it was pretty light so I was able to dip into my own soy sauce/vinegar and enjoyed it that way. I got an unsweetened soy milk and tasted like how I expected. We also got the sweet tofu dish for dessert, surprisingly not that sweet! If they added ginger and made the syrup a tad bit thicker, this would be great. I'd revisit if I'm in the mood for XLB and doesn't want to commute far. The food came out really fast. We were in & out under an hour.

Dumpling Wang is ok. Wouldn't make my way all the way out here but if I'm in the area and want this type of food, sure. It is sort of pricey for what it is too but that's just the downside of being located in LIC.

We came during the grand opening week on Wed - it was relatively full but we didn't have to wait for a table. We ordered the pan fried pork and chive dumplings, pork soup dumplings, Shepherd's Purse and Pork Wontons, scallion oil noodles, pea shoots, and soy milk. I thought all the food was decent - it's nothing mind blowing but a solid option and adds some nice variety to the Chinese food options in the area! The service was pretty slow - the noodles came out somewhat fast but then we had to wait 30+ min for our next dishes to arrive. I wish the menu had more pictures or the count of dumplings included so you knew what the portion size was. Given that it's in their first official week, I'd definitely give them the benefit of the doubt and hopefully they'll work out some of these issues over time!

I tried this place out with a friend and thought the food was average. The xiao long baos were not bad but the skin on their dumplings is quite thick. My noodle dish was supposed to come with broth, but when they brought it to my table, it was the dry version. A worker fixed it for me and brought it back, but my noodles ended up sticking to each other. I'm not sure if they ended up just pouring broth over my noodles. The broth was pretty good, but I don't think that the taste of the pork and potatoes paired well with the broth. Aside from the food, I did think that the waitstaff was really nice and helpful.

Soup dumplings were delicious. Mostly shanghainese style small plates and breakfast items

New Shanghainese place in LIC I was so excited for, unfortunately the food was very average. Would recommend the xiao long bao but the rest was just okay. The noodles didn't have lots of flavor overall.

Maybe they changed chefs. The scallion oil noodles don't taste like the authentic Shanghai-style ones anymore.

It helps that we speak the language that we got a little more comedic interaction with him! He was a hoot and was helpful in providing us advice on the # of dishes and what to get. I'd say everything is authentic to the Shanghainese cuisine so I'm a little biased that I loved every dish! A fish dish was suggested but we opted for our usual favorites: Scallion Pancake -made fresh as you can tell from the crunch Soup dumplings - super fresh, delicious inside, plenty of soup, perfect ratio of skin to meat Chow Fun - classic, look at the heaping amount of beef portioned on top!! Beef pepper steak - chunks were very tender and full of flavor Pork buns - a lovely crunch on the bottom of the bun, soft bread and tons of flavor Shrimp with broccoli - large pieces of shrimp (I didn't try it so I'm not sure on the taste)

Then the server Bill, started acting like a used car salesman. He said he would give us a sake cause it was his birthday, but didn't tell us we were going to get charged for it. Also before my brother got there, he said that since it was his birthday, he would bring out a "banana boat" which was just 5 scoops of ice cream and some cut up banana. When we got the bill he not only charged us for both, but that banana boat was $30! When we asked about it, he argued with us saying that he didn't tell us the price of every single thing that we bought... very rude. We also tried to order two orders of regular soup dumplings and two orders of the truffle. He kept rushing our order, and then tried to change our order to four orders of the truffle. We weren't sure if we would like it yet, and kept pushing back but he wouldn't take no for an answer (that being said the truffle was good, but I'm definitely a purist and preferred the regular soup dumplings). We also ordered the kau fu but it was not good, and tasted too much of five spice. The cha cha mien was fine, but a bit small and a little bland. The rice cakes were good, but the rice cakes were not al dente enough for me. We also got the fried rice, which was fine, but nothing to write home about. Finally we got a fried tofu dish which was good and had a lot of tofu in it. Overall, this server ruined our experience. The food is fine, but there are other Shanghainese restaurants in the area and would visit those over this place.

There's also a great promotion where you spend at least $10 and get free soup dumplings (comes with six pieces). There's two bathrooms which are clean and large. We ordered: - Turnip Cake (5/5) - Shrimp Rice Roll (5/5) - Seafood, Chicken, Pork Rice Cakes (4/5) - Beef Pancake (3/5) The soup dumplings were not bad but not the best I've had. The total came to $43 including tip which wasn't bad at all considering how much food we got.

And more: cold dish - garlic cucumbers to start. Classic soup dumplings (pork filling). I usually do not order the crab meat or other varieties as those seem gimmicky. The restaurant gives you a free order of pork dumplings with dine-in purchase of $20+. This visit I did try a new noodle dish - egg noodles with crab roe. It was interesting indeed. While I've had better crab roe toppings (this one was a bit greasy//oily for me) I can see why they added it to the menu. It's been a trend. The Peking Duck and crispy skin pork are still my go to dishes when coming here. It's just not easy to make at home so I'm happy to buy it. Totally classic dishes. We also ordered the beef pancakes which is also a great sharing plate. This spot is a keeper. (I usually come by to grab take out as they have the fast casual rice plates and bbq meats right at the entrance).
