I was comparing the two too much, instead of just finding my go to order at Salad House. I customized one of their signature salads by removing two toppings and adding four more (including avocado), and that's where the price started climbing fast. I wish there was a system where you could swap toppings of the same price value instead of being charged for every additional topping regardless of you removing toppings from the salad. My original $13.49 salad somehow turned into a $19.84 salad and personally, I would not pay almost $20 for that exact salad again. I did have a $5 off new customer coupon, so originally I didn't mind adding the extras because I thought my total would still be reasonable. But when I got to the register, the cashier couldn't get the coupon to show up on my account, even though I was showing him the active coupon on my saladhouse app. I think they should have a barcode or QR code system instead of employees manually searching phone numbers and emails to find coupons attached to customer accounts. I didn't make a big deal about it and just told him it was fine, after he tried both my email and phone number. I told him I'd use the coupon another time. After sitting down waiting for my food, I noticed they had self service kiosks. Out of curiosity, I typed my number in myself... and magically the coupon showed up immediately. So instead of letting it go to waste, and having to go back the next day, (my coupon expired the next date), I used the coupon towards an order of the buffalo chicken poppers. As for the food itself, the salad was very filling, I did not even finish it until the next day. I just think next time I'd rather try one of their actual signature salads instead of building around a memory of another restaurant. Paying an extra $2 for avocado, and getting 4 very thin slices was something that I did not appreciate. So I probably wouldn't add avocado again. The ingredients were fresh, good quality, and the salads are made to order. It's a nice a bright space, with a decent amount of seating. The portions were a good size, so I would give Salad House another try.

We also tried their house-made dragon fruit lemonade, which was refreshing and went really well with our meal. Since it was our first time, our server was really nice and helpful. He took the time to guide us through the menu and helped us decide what to try, which we appreciated. The service was good and the ambience was nice and comfortable. It's conveniently located by Menlo Park Mall, so there's plenty of parking as well. Overall, we had a really good experience.
