If you need help making a tree disappear... I know a guy. I needed a small tree removed and a couple stumps ground, and the company I usually work with was too busy to return my call. The job apparently wasn't big enough for them. A1, on the other hand, was quick to respond. The owner, Andrew, was friendly and gave me straight answers to my questions. The only downside was that Andrew is extremely swamped with work as well! He scheduled me for an estimate but didn't record it in his calendar, and so the appointment came and went with no Andrew. But I texted him and he was able to come by later that day. He showed me the endless stream of messages he gets for jobs that need to be done. I totally empathize - we're all busy, and tree companies have gotten busier during the pandemic. We could all learn to have a bit more understanding. Andrew ballparked a day when he might be able to return to do the work, and the actual day he came was just a day later. He kept me in the loop via phone and text. Once here, he made short work of the tree and stumps that were in the backyard. He has different stump grinders and was able to bring one that fit easily through the side gate. He spent a lot of time on each stump, going deep and being very thorough, grinding up the large roots as well. All that's left now is a nice bed of earth and mulch - it's like those trees never existed. Andrew hauled away all the large pieces, courteously not putting anything in my green bin. To top it off, the price was very reasonable, especially considering how in-demand these services are these days. Our next door neighbor had 3 ~ 40 ft tall podocarpus trees that had grown out of control and were lifting up our property. They had agreed to take them out. Then suddenly they moved out and put the house up for sale. Not knowing who the next owners would be put us on a tight schedule to get it done before it sold. Andrew got right back to me and fit our job in for the next day. His bid was lower than the other two I received. But we chose him because he seemed all around more together and knowledgeable. Also the other tree people said the fence would need to be removed to get in close enough to really grind out the stumps so they wouldn't regrow. Andrew said taking out the fence wasn't needed. Requested a quote on Yelp, posting pictures and got 3 estimates on grinding two stumps, with one located in the parking strip, and the other one located in my backyard. The first two had no problem with the front, but getting to the backyard meant taking down my gate, and rain down spout on the side of the house for their 35 inch wide grinding machines to squeeze by.
