Boyd's Tree Service was one of the highly rated companies recommended by Bay Area Consumers' Checkbook for quality. ChatGPT also helped me compare several candidates, identify questions that needed clarification, and step by step narrow down the options before I made my final decision. I feel very fortunate that Mike Boyd was the fastest to respond, meet with me, provide a written estimate, and show valid proof of workers' compensation and liability insurance. His price was also the most attractive among the competitors. A three-person crew worked at my home for two days. Julio, though small in build, was extremely capable and efficient. He climbed up and down, moved quickly and confidently through the branches, and trimmed the limbs with skill, precision, and speed. The other two crew members were quiet but hardworking, continuously cleaning up and removing the cut branches and leaves so the ground stayed neat throughout the job. One thing that stood out was that Boyd's large truck is equipped with a lift, which allowed them to trim the two tall trees in my front yard much more thoroughly and beautifully than previous tree workers had ever done. The trees in my yard were very tall and dense. Many branches had grown over the roofline and extended along the fences into the neighboring properties on both sides and behind my house. They were blocking the blue sky, sunlight, and natural brightness around my home. The trimming was important not only for fire safety, but also to restore a more open, comfortable, and bright living environment. I only needed to give Julio simple instructions, and the final result exceeded my expectations. My three neighboring households were also very pleased with the outcome. Everyone was happy. I am extremely satisfied with Boyd's Tree Service and highly recommend them. I will definitely use Boyd's Tree Service again for future tree work. read more

I recently had a 60' Palm tree removed and hired Boyd's Tree Service. Mike came out a gave a very reasonable estimate. A couple of days later his crew show and up and spent around 3.5 hrs removing the palm tree. The crew was professional, did a great job, brought the right equipment to do the job and more importantly took away the fronds, cut pieces of the tree and cleaned up the debris completely. I would highly recommend Boyd's Service. read more

I'm very impressed with Boyd's tree Service. Mike came the same day I called to give me an estimate . There estimate was $400 less than the last estimate I got. The day that I let Mike know that I was going to hire them he was able to set up an appointment for that day. I wish I had taken before and after pictures of the two trees that were trimmed . I was very happy with the job. The tree trimmer really knows his job. Trees look great not like a hatchet job by somebody who didn't know what they were doing. I will be hiring them the next time my trees need trimming. read more

I could not be happier with the service from Boyd's. They trimmed several large trees and they all look great, especially the sour orange tree. Mike provided an estimate the day after I called and started the work the next day. They brought a 4 person crew and professional tools including a cherry picker and finished the job in one day Including cleaning up. My interactions with Mike, his crew and office staff were very pleasant and everyone is so nice. I will hire them for all my future tree needs. read more

They did a fabulous job . Cutting down a huge elm tree that was choking my fruit trees. They also cleaned up my yard afterwards.

This is the second time I've used Boyd's Tree service. The first time was 4 years ago to trim 2 oak street trees and remove some trees to prepare for a landscape project. This time, RJ came to give an estimate for trimming the same street trees which needed pruning, several fruit trees, crape myrtles, and branches that were overhanging from a neighbor's yard. The work was scheduled for the next day in the afternoon and started on the very large oak tree. They returned the next day earlier and finished the rest of the work as I had a lot of trees. The crew that came to prune the trees were professional and careful. The foreman, Julio, was easy to communicate with and listened well as I explained what I wanted done and made sure I was happy with how the trees looked. They come with a large truck with a chipper machine so all the branches and leaves were taken care of. The crew did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves. read more

Ok - who doesn't see all the hidden signs all over town for Boyd's?? I was impressed with the estimators knowledge of my trees and what needed to be done. Service was scheduled fairly quickly and the quality of the service was top notch. read more

I have met this guy about a year ago as he did some tree work for me at a very reasonable price and did an awesome job with no hassle or babysitting services.. He came out again today to do some more tree service and while he was doing it I asked if he could do a couple more things like pour a foundation and some other odds and ends and bam another crew came in and did a 3 day job in like 5 hours with an army he brought in... Hats off to a real cool honest hard worker and crew.. You deserve 10 stars but only 5 is offered... Keep up the awesome work my man!!! read more

I needed three smallish trees cut down with stumps ground, and two more trees topped. Boyd's service was first rate. They promptly returned my call (unlike many other services) and scheduled an immediate estimator visit. Their estimator was knowledgeable and discussed various options with me. When I called a few days later to say I would like them to do the work, they scheduled it within a few days. This speed was unusual (compared to other companies) -- Boyd's explained that they prioritize residential jobs by reshuffling work on their long-term commercial pruning contracts. They did a good job, delivering what they'd promised, and cleaned up well. The only downside: they probably don't have the lowest price. But you're getting value: high quality work, fast service, and low risk (professionalism combined with good insurance). For context on price: The one other bid I was able to obtain for my project (after about 10 phone calls) was significantly lower, but that company couldn't schedule the work as promptly, and their contractor license had been suspended by the state due to a failure to renew their workers comp insurance. (You can check the current status of a California contractor license at https://www2.cslb.ca.gov/onlineservices/checklicenseII/checklicense.aspx) read more

The crew that Michael Boyd sent to trim tree was made up of three of the hardest workers I have seen in a long time. They were on our property from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. When they were done they cleaned the yard so it looked okay like no work had been done. Except the trees look great. Julio also pointed out other things that should be done. I will use no one else for tree trimming. read more

Unbelievable! The BEST !!!! Awesome job Pleasant to work with ! Reliable ! On time Best rate!! They are a 10+ read more

Mike came right away to give me an estimate on my tree trimming request. When I asked for his crew to do the work, they were scheduled quickly. When they did come, they were on time, did a great job, exactly what I asked for, and at the price that we had agreed on. I will use their services again. read more

Over the last 12 years, I have hired Boyd's Tree Service all three times to trim my pine tree and mock orange trees. I have found them to not only be reliable but efficient and reasonably priced. The workers can quickly trim back an overgrown pine tree into a work of art. The shape of the pine tree at the end of the trim was not only practical for my yard's needs but aesthetic as well. I recommend Boyd's Tree Service. They are well worth the money. Glenna H. read more

Just had Mike's team out to do my 3 palms again, and they did a fantastic job as always. Julio is amazing as the master surgeon swinging around deep in the tree. If you're looking for some to clean up your palm trees, don't hesitate to call Boyd's! Fair price, easy to schedule, communicate well and leave the yard nice and clean once their done. Oh, and they have their own chipper so no debris left in the street! Thanks Mike! read more

Look no further. This is the best Tree Service. Consumer Bay Area Checkbook and Yelp highly recommend them for their high quality and low price. Therefore, I called them for an estimate, and they quickly responded by sending a gentleman out to our home to inspect the work that needed to be done and give me a quote. His quote to thin out three mature olive trees in our front yard and three flowering trees in our back yard was very reasonable. I accepted the quote on the spot and asked when they could start. Within two days, they came out with three men and a large truck and began their work. They worked tirelessly all day and did a beautiful job. They also cleaned up all the debris and were careful not to damage any of my shrubs. I'm sure once you try them, you will be like me and not use anyone else. Lonny E read more

I hired Boyd's to remove a large birch tree that had died. They arrived promptly, did the job cleanly and with no damage to other plants. in an expeditious fashion. They also treated my other birch trees for bark bettles, which I hope will save them. I highly recommend them. read more

Very easy to coordinate work and get a quote. They did a great job, cleaning up the premises very well.

mike is a nice guy and he did some work for us a few years back that we were happy with. we hired him again for another project and were so disappointed. he gave instructions to his crew and left. the resulting "trim" was extensive and we are unhappy. as are our neighbors because the privacy/shade between houses was removed. i regret paying the full amount given that i did not get the contracted service. read more

Mike and his team were great communicators and exceeded all my expectations for a tree/stump removal. They left everything clean afterwards and took all the precautions to prevent any of my property from getting accidentally damaged. They also did the work in just a few hours including clean-up; very efficient. Thank you so much. read more

These guys came through in a pinch. Was pricy, but they did a great job. What happened: - Woke up to fallen tree in the backyard - Called around looking for someone to do the job that day - Found Boyd, they came out and were in and out in a few hours. What was great: - Quick - Cleaned up everything afterwords - Super efficient process read more

Very positive experience with Mike Boyd and his crew. They are true professionals at this. One day Mike gave me an estimate - a much better one that I got from another guy - and next day his crew of four people removed five cypresses and trimmed the palm in my back yard in the course of seven hours. They removed all the debris and left it squeaky clean; did not even damage the flower between the trees. This work is hard; you should watch them work to appreciate it. This guys come with all the equipment needed: a truck, a mulcher (or whatever the proper name is?), harnesses to climb trees, etc. I highly recommend this service; they are excellent! read more

Just had Boyd's Tree Service out to trim 3 of my 25-30' Palm Trees. In short, they did fantastic work, were in and out in less than 90 minutes, showed up on time, fair price, great crew and cleanup when they were done. Can't ask for more than that! I've had these trimmed multiple times in the past and was never happy with the final result. Mikes guys did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier. Boyd's Tree Service did an excellent job on my Liquid Amber tree. The staff was courteous, communicative and did a fantastic job leaving no trace of the massive tree reduction behind! The price was fair and the handsome owner even came to the job and personally delivered a couple of hand sanitizers. This to me seems to set Boyd's Tree Service above and beyond the others showing that he and his well trained staff are being careful and staying safe during the Covid~19 pandemic I would highly recommend this Tree Service to anyone who wants to get the job done right the first time! After a two no shows a number of years ago, I changed my rating to a one star, however I came back to Boyd's Tree Service after a few years because they do such good work. I had someone else trim my trees, however Mike's crew did a much better job and they came in at a reasonable price, they cleaned up after the job and everything looked great. Mike is easy to work with and very personable, BUT his business can be undependable as he has no one at the office to schedule his calls, so things fall through the cracks. read more

I have used Cassidy for many projects and recommended him to many of my friends over the last 2 years. However, Out of all of the jobs I've given him, they have never been quite up to par. This time, though was the final time I'll ever use him. I hired him almost a year ago to pour a concrete slab but it has a huge dip in it that collects water every time it rains. For nearly a year Cassidy has promised to come fix it and put a drain in but so far it still is not done and the concrete is still collecting water. But in spite of that (my bad) I hired him to pour another slab inside the house to fill in a cove area. Turns out, he poured it too high and now, instead of a step down that I was trying to get rid of, I have a step up. During that same job, he was hired to remove the existing flooring tile to prepare for new flooring. After removing the first tiles, he discovers there are more tiles underneath. He decided to ask for more money since it was more work to get the additional tiles up, which I agreed to and paid him. But he left the job with glue and tile pieces and wood all over the floor. Far from finished and didn't clean up anything. There was dirt and dust EVERYWHERE and I had to pay someone else to come in and fix BOTH of the jobs I paid him to do. He refused to discuss it or take any responsibility for his crap work and blamed it all on me. Very difficult to deal with because he just didn't think he did anything wrong. After 2 years of working with him and referring him to friends and family and this is the thanks I get for the THOUSANDS of $$ I have spent with him. Sad. read more

We did elaborate research to find trimming service for our two palm trees. After a few iterrations we contacted Michael Boyd and we can confidently say that this was the best choice! Michael was very kind to come to our house and give us an estimate, approaching the work with high professionalism. He gave us an excellent quote (we had a number of other quotes already). His crew came on time, led by Michael and they did an excellent job! Mike was here with them at all times, controlling the job and discussing various matters with us! He is an amazing person! We confidently recommend Boyd's services and give them 5 out of five! Maria and Zlatko Sotirov read more

Very Prompt and Professional Crew. I originally booked West Valley Arborists to remove a menacing Palm tree and mulberry stump from my backyard. After waiting 4 hours after our set appointment, they cancelled, wasting my entire day, and they said they'll call me back to reschedule for next week. Rather than wait for them, I decided to look through YP, and after calling several companies, RJ from Boyd's Tree Service was the only one that picked up. He happened to be nearby and swung by my place in less than 30 minutes to do an estimate. The estimate he gave me was comparable (actually less than West Valley) and he said he was able to do it the following morning. RJ and his crew promptly showed up a 8am and completed the work safely, neatly, and efficiently. They have all the necessary equipment to get the job done. They carefully cut my palm tree that grew between my utility lines and they ground out 2 stumps. They cleaned everything up afterwards and was gone by 1030am. I highly recommend RJ and his crew from Boyd's Tree Service and I plan on using them again for future tree service needs. read more

When a huge pine tree fell on my house, my insurance agent suggested I call Boyd's. Mike came out right away, gave a good estimate, and helped me deal with the insurance adjuster to get all the services I needed. The tree was off the roof, cut up, and hauled away in ONE DAY! Everything was cleaned up, and the workers were great. The huge stump was ground up in half a day, and on Mike's suggestion the chips were spread for mulch. I can't rate Mike and Boyd's Tree Service highly enough. read more

I have used Boyd's tree service a few times and they have always turned out great. I have used others though the years and Boyd's is right at the top of the list, great guy and they do great work. Always on time, and very good at cleanup and making the trees look really nice, and not all hacked up. This is key, you need an artist to do this correctly as I have found out through the years. Thanks for the work, and will have no issues calling you again down the line. read more

I came out of my house to get my car and the brilliant minds at Boyd's had completely covered it in wood chips. When I asked them What the F%$^ they said there wasn't much parking and they had no other choice. They blew the car off a bit with a blower but it didn't do much and I had to have the car cleaned. I emailed the company but they did not respond. I suspect if you use this company they will make poor choices and piss off your neighbors by covering their cars in wood chips. read more

Easy to work with. They responded quickly and accommodated our schedule. They showed up on time to remove a tree for us. They were professional, quick and cleaned up the area thoroughly. Given the location of the tree in proximity to established plants in our landscape I thought there would be some collateral damage but, they were amazingly careful. They took out the tree and none of the other plants were damaged. I would definitely hire again. read more

The guys from Boyds tree service were amazing professionals. They worked All Day To Get THE Job done. They cut down 11 ugly cypress trees and ground down the stumps, removed a complete 35 foot hedge and trimmed another 40 foot long 10 foot high down to 7 feet hedge and thinned it out, cleaned and trimmed a 30 foot birch and shaped it beautifully and removed 3 large bushes. They cleaned up and I mean "cleaned up" the job site and were so pleasant to deal with. BTW dogs love Mike Boyd and his crew, read more

It's funny that Boyd's Tree Service either has a 5 star review or a 1 star review! :) In my case, it is a 5-star. Mike was recommended to me by the real estate broker who sold us the house. In addition to being unmaintained, the back of the house had a couple of dead/dying trees that were in danger of falling onto the house. In addition there were tall (and unmaintained) palm trees on the property as well. Mike gave me a very competitive quote to clean up the rotten deck and remove these trees. Removing trees is hard work and it's even harder if you don't have the right equipment. That's why Boyd's can finish a job quickly - they have the right equipment for the job. His team of 3 guys cleaned out all the trees, ground all the stumps, removed all the decking from my backyard in 3 days. That was impressively fast for the size of the property. My backyard looks amazing once the overgrowth was removed. I would highly recommend Boyd's Tree Service for anyone who needs to have their trees maintained or removed. read more

We had a large tree branch fall blocking the sidewalk and partially out in to the street. Gave them a call Friday morning around 9:00, Mike was at my house within a half hour with an estimate. We opted to trim the entire 50+ ft. pine rather than only the branch that broke. The crew showed up the same day around 12:30 and were done by 5:45. The guys worked hard and everything was cleaned by the end. They even cleaned up leaves that weren't even part of that tree and left them in a pile for pickup. It wasn't cheap, but I would call them again for service. read more

They did such a good job! Wore masks and were safe at all times. We needed to have a beautiful large twisted juniper trimmed and the small dead branches cleaned out, the tall suckers trimmed off a lemon tree and a neighbor's tree trimmed off our house. All three were perfectly done, especially the twisted juniper that has great shape that now shows up so much better. They were on time and cleaned up everything. When we next need our trees tended to it will definitely be Boyd's. read more
