We had Stones Landscaping overhaul our backyard after gophers and squirrels invaded and destroyed our lawn and irrigation system. It was over 3500 sq ft of lawn and irrigation, as well as concrete fixes around other parts of our property and pool tile repair. I chose them because they had the best strategy to combat the problem, even though they weren't the cheapest quote we received. I wanted the fix to last long term, not just hold me over for a year or two before another gopher invasion destroys our yard. Everything was extremely professional and delivered to contract specifications. We were extremely happy with the results. They had to move a portion of our fence to get the big equipment in but you wouldn't even know it had been moved because they were total pros putting things back. When we asked for additional scope of work (a French drain), they were quick to get back to me with a quote and incorporating the additional work didn't push out the timeline. In our home improvement projects, landscaping our front yard was one of the nine projects we undertook. Throughout these projects, we sought God's wisdom, guidance, and most importantly, provision. We are so pleased with the job that the Stones team did on our backyard. We had previously filled a pool and the space was just topsoil and weeds. Carolino and the crew were not only efficient and professional, they exceeded our expectations. To start, we had only given Manuel a rough sketch of what we wanted: mainly concrete for a basketball court, retaining walls and a fire pit. After combing through tons of reviews on Yelp, we chose Manuel and his team over other landscaping companies because of 1.) his competitive pricing (he did an in-person consultation and shared estimate after) and 2.) he was very honest and respectful when we asked him for his thoughts. We never felt pushed to do work that we didn't want or need. If anyone reading this is new to this process like we were - you should know for most landscapers (including Stones Landscaping), you'll need a landscaping design before they can give you an estimate. I personally chose to draw out a 2D design myself after doing a lot of research on what we wanted. It is possible to hire someone to do this for you. I also recommend sharing pics of what you like (e.g., types of rock, plants, pavers). Main changes to our front yard were 1.) removal of existing weed-filled lawn, two trees and preparing the area for artificial turf 2.) laying down concrete 3.) adding square concrete stepping pavers flanked with La Paz rock 4.) adding drought resistant plants (with drip irrigation) and white rock around the edges of the artificial turf. Our goal was to have a low maintenance front yard we could take care of ourselves. We are really, really happy with how everything turned out. Some good advice I was given by others: ask questions as the work is happening - if you have any concerns. If you're like me, it may feel uncomfortable at times, but Manuel and his team are kind and understanding. Manuel responded to questions even after we finalized payment.
