Beyond being (from what I've seen) almost the most reasonably priced landscaper out there, Antonio was incredibly responsive, flexible, and professional throughout the project. We made numerous changes -- increasing and changing plant selections; adjusting hardscape requirements twice; adding in two incredibly heavy (1000 pound + for one of them) water features; and adding in additional landscape lighting at the last minute. Throughout, his crews worked hard and were incredibly friendly (Tomas was outstanding and led the site crew for the project with Antonio checking in regularly and ensuring that the project was moving on-time and done really well). The hardscaping was beautiful, and the landscaping has turned out fantastic. Here are the pros and cons and why you need to consider this company. Pros : 1. Contract: I heard many landscaping projects are hard due to lack of contract and payment issues. When I got the first quote from Hills landscaping, they provide 6 pages of quotes, contract details including warranty, payment plan, etc. It has all the details in the contract and both need to sign to start the project so it can protect the company and myself. 2. Payment: this company provides a payment plan with 5-7 payments. Also, I pay when one of the work is finished. No need to worry about any payment plan. 3. Diligent: They start work from the first day we contract and every day they worked except when it is rain and material was not available. They contact me every day in the morning when they cannot work due to rain or material issues so I do not need to worry about they are working or not. 4. Professional: All the workers are professional and knowledgeable so when I ask any worker about the process, material, I can get the answer. I asked for some modification and it is always considered during the project and I love the final landscaping that we have. 5. Communications: From the quote request to the final walkthrough, I communicate with Hills landscaping with 90 emails, more than 15 times call. Most of the time, I can get the answer in a few hours and not any case over the one day to get the response. They even contact me on weekends so I was impressed with their communication. 6. Antonio and his crew did an amazing job to my backyard! They removed all the dead grass and added pavers, artificial grass, trimmed the edges with rocks, and installed 3 metal poles for my sail shade. Originally they specked out 2-2.5 wks for the work, in which I timed being off work/going out of town for a week. I also had 2 large dogs so timing was very imperative. They managed to do the work in a week! We did the final walk and I am so happy with the work they have done! It's also the small things that makes me want to hire Hills Landscape again: my house was built in 1940 so a lot of the wiring is out of date. When they dug up the grass they cracked the piping of the electrical that feeds from the main house to the garage, supposed to be buried deeper but was not. They notified me right away and replaced the piping with no electrical issues. They also placed 3 drip systems for my bougainvillea since am not going to have the sprinkler running. Lastly, the metal poles they installed, they welded the top so if it ever rains, water would not go in and welded rings so I can hook the shade sail. I really appreciate them taking the extra step to understand what I was trying to achieve with the meal posts.
