THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Went in there to get trail running shoes for cross country. We were helped almost immediately. They did a "fitting" where you step on this thing that mesures your feet, and tells you what your width is, what feet size each of your feet are, and arch height. Next, I tried on a "neutral" shoe, and ran on the treadmill. Here, they take a video of your feet while you run to see if your ankle dips in, then they suggest shoes based on preference, and what will help you run efficiently. I was helped by Cameron and I told him my issues with my feet and he was so knowledgeable and had tons of patience. I run about 100 miles a week doing distance work for ultras and speed for half's and I kept getting injured from over supination (I think). I read every shoe review I can and own almost everything Nike makes. I had been trying to find a good daily training shoe for relatively long runs that didn't feel like ten pound weights since I was used to heavy foam and carbon plates after training in alphaflys, vaporflys, and endorphin pro 2s. I walked in with a list of hokas and brooks and an Altra or two I wanted to try. The woman who helped me brought out Altra Paradigms just to try before she grabbed my list of shoes, which made me feel like a real idiot because they were the best ones and they never made it onto any of my lists - I'm not even sure I had heard of paradigms and all I've been doing is read shoe reviews for a week. I called once and gone there twice hoping to get a customized insoles. This was over a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, their machine was not working at all times. It's been a while since I've had such a pleasant customer service in a store. The people here are super helpful from beginning to end. I'm a casual beginning runner, and my old running shoes gave up on me, so I was looking for a replacement. As soon as I walked in Josh was there to assist me with a very calm, friendly attitude. After explaining my situation, he got me to hop on this platform for a second, and the measurement and analysis of my feet were immediately there on his iPad. He got me a test shoes for me to run on the treadmill for about ten seconds, and then anaylized my running form so that he could choose the right shoe type. He brought out a couple pairs of shoes, and as I was trying them on, he shared a lot of knowledge to help me understand what to look for in running shoes. I told him I used to run in a Nike Huarache, and he knew what I was talking about and was able to explain to me what characteristic those shoes had versus the ones I was trying on. I really liked the light weight and the fit of the second pair of shoes I was trying out, but was still feeling a little bit of room around my heel. Josh taught me the runner's knot, and now the fit was perfect. All of these help without ever being pushy or rushing my eventual purchase decision. The whole shopping experience was like visiting a nice spa. I was so happy with the experience that I went back the next day to pick up a pair of sunglasses for my run, and they were super helpful with that as well. These guys clearly enjoys running, and more importantly, enjoys helping people get into running. I'm sure I'll keep coming back for my running needs. Great job guys! read more

I heard good things about this place from my sister. I've started to run again, nothing serious, just casual. Afterwards I feel pain on my left foot- sister recommended to go to Snail's Pace to see what type of feet I have and the way I run- the theory is my shoes are not correct for me. I come in to Snail's Pace (1st time here) and asked about being tested. The sales person, I forgot her name, said afterwards I will need to buy a pair of shoes. I looked at the selections and nothing stood out, design- wise. She basically insisted that for them to test how I run, I must buy a pair if shoes. I recommend going to a podiatrist if you have health insurance- and see how you run/walk. The co-pay will most likely be less than what snail's pace is enforcing, in terms of a mandate to buy a pair of shoes. read more

My first experience for this place when I walked in with my girlfriend was wow. I wanted to figure out why the bottom of my feet hurts whenever I run or walk for long distances. I don't know the guy that helped my girlfriend and I but he really knows his stuff! He helped scan my feet and explained to me that I have a slight pronation and that my arch is low. He brought out shoes that he thought would be the best for me and they all felt amazing. My girlfriend and I left with new running shoes and I got a custom insoles. This was my first time going to the Monrovia location, but I am always blown away by how above and beyond this store goes to get you the shoe that's perfect for you. As soon as I walked in, I was helped my a great employee. Although my name was on file, I wanted to reassess where my pressure-point were on their fancy foot machine and have them record my running to see how I place my foot. I was able to get the right support for my shoe at the same price that people pay for over well-known "fashion" sneaker brands. The difference being, this shoe was selected for me based on my specific needs. If you are a student it's even better, you get a discount! I went mid-day on a weekday so I had no trouble finding free parking besides the store. I actually really like this place. It was referred to me by my cousin. They measure your feet and determine what you're using the most, even put you on the treadmill. They give you various of shoes to try that fits your description and have you run in 'em (cuz I requested running shoes). So be prepare...as in your workout clothes and a little sweating if you sweat easily like me. Too bad my feet were too big/wide, they only had the shoes that fitted me well in a weird color that I didn't like. What's awesome is that they save your profile so that if you go back, they don't have to "re-fit" you. Service is great! Highly recommend it. Upon several recommendations from friends, I stopped by A Snail's Pace today to get fitted for some running shoes. I walked in and was greeted/helped by Omar who was very friendly and helpful. I first stepped on the pressure point thing and he explained my arches, pressure points, etc. Then he had me try on a pair of neutral shoes and jog a little bit while recording on video. He showed me how my ankles collapsed in each time my heel struck the ground. He then brought out some shoes that had more support to help fix that issue. I tried jogging again and we immediately saw improvement on video. Finally, he brought out several different shoes for me to try on and after I narrowed it down to 2 choices, he had me take a jog outside to test how it felt on concrete. I made my choice and bought some new balance shoes! The process was very simple and Omar did not seem pushy at all. He took the time to explain when I had questions and I had an overall great experience! I would recommend this store to friends and family looking to get fitted for running shoes. On a side note: i asked him how long this store has been open considering there was only 1 review before mine. He said they have been open for 7 years and that there was some sort of problem with yelp confusing or merging the reviews for this location with one of their other locations.
