Went to figure out what shoe worked best for me. This was my first time here and i was a little nervous since im new to running. The guy with the eyebrows (the strongest feature on him) was kind of off putting. he helped me without really helping me. he seemed more annoyed than anything or just like had an indifferent attitude and didnt really explain much. Wow. The help and assistance and variety I got for running gear (shoes, fanny pack, sports bra, leggings) was amazing here. I am embarrassed to say I've been running in the same pair of Nikes since 2013. I've tried to buy new shoes in the last few years, online. I've tried Nikes, Adidas, On Running, and Hokas and they all sucked for various returns and I ultimately returned them. I feel that the materials used in Nike and Adidas has diminished in quality over the years and it was really hard to find the right fit for the Hokas and Ons. So I decide to go to A Snail's Pace (which has the cutest snail logo). First off, they have a scanner type machine that looks at your feet. Turns out, my feet are two different sizes and widths! Now I understand why I've had such a hard time finding new running shoes! Chloe was the salesperson who helped me and she was so knowledgeable and helpful. My husband also tried on no less than 10 shoes to find the perfect pair to run the LA Marathon in (and he found them!) This is a GREAT store. The employees are super helpful and kind. I've never had such a bad experience at a shoe store before. I went in and waited for about 15 minutes and nobody even acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. A couple came in after me and a sales rep IMMEDIATELY asked if they needed help. Maybe it was racial profiling but I felt very disrespected. I expected higher quality service seeing how high the reviews were for this store, but probably the worst shoe buying experience. Go to fleet feet or road runner instead. Thank you Lucas! He was so informative, helpful and patient! My son is now wearing adult sized shoes and he has flat feet. It was time for shoes with extra support and comfort. A friend recommended we go to Snail's Place because they have the machines to measure the arch and trained people to look at his gait. Lucas was so great with him. He tried on at least 10 pairs of shoes and sandals. We even had my son's feet measured so that when we come back next year, we can see how they have grown and if the arch has changed. Signing up for a half marathon or going to the gym... heck, buying a pair of shoes or even getting up early to do some kind of physical activity sometimes makes my brain dig out a quote Indiana Jones said to Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark. After she says to him, "You're not the man I knew ten years ago," Indy quickly replies, "It's not the years, honey... It's the mileage!" Truer words have ne'er been spoken, it seems, but I still have some tread on the tires. Thus, Mother's Day saw me bring my better half to Snail's Pace to pick up a couple of new pairs of shoes for my Mrs. and for Yours Truly. When we entered the store, I was immediately impressed with the level of service the workers were giving to the customers getting helped: one guy was running on a treadmill in the store, wearing his potential new shoes, while the associate filmed his feet with an iPad. Another had a stack of shoes on a bench next to a woman who was saying something about over-pronating and extra support. We were immediately greeted by Lucas, who was helping another customer, but made sure we knew he would be with us shortly. Within a couple of minutes, Lucas was measuring our feet, hearing our early-40s tales of troublesome injuries to IT bands and plantar fasciitis... then quickly whisking away to the store room to bring out several shoe options. Lucas adroitly helped both me and Mrs. Picante at the same time, filming us on the treadmill, then showing us how the right shoe support actually helps with all sorts of fun stuff like heel-striking, over-pronating, and of course, my big size 14 flat feet. Truth be told, I probably shouldn't run at all, but I'm not the type to be told what I can't do, I suppose. Especially at a buffet... but I digress... When it was all over, Lucas rang us up for two pairs of New Balance, and a knee brace for my Mrs. Really nice kid (aside: when you reach a certain age... and start realizing that the people helping you at stores are approximately half your age... you begin to call them "kids"), that Lucas is, and he knows his stuff. Good salesman, too! Whether you're one of those people that stands at the beginning of a marathon and talks through the National Anthem with strangers about your last three runs, or you're just looking for the right pair of shoes that won't pinch your feet and leave you with that tired, achy ankle feeling at the end of a casual dog-walking session, you really should check this store out. The level of service you receive here, as well as the comfort of knowing that you're getting the right pair of shoes for your tootsies far outweighs the $30-40 bucks you'd save going to Famous Footwear, and walking out of the store in some blem pair of kicks that sorta looked and felt OK. This place is great! They analyze your feet and the way you run to recommend the best shoes. I've been coming here since 2020 and have bought 5 pairs in that timeframe. The staff is very welcoming, patient, and they're all runners so they know their stuff. Maybe my favorite part is they keep your profile on file so you don't have to have everything re-analyzed when you come back. I'm more of a walker than a runner, but I walk 5 miles per day. Great place, awesome staff, everyone is very knowledgeable. I came here to get fitting for some shoes for an upcoming half. I'm new to running, so the put me through their analysis process of using the pressure pads to measure my foot and analyze how I walk. Then I went on the treadmill and they used video analysis of my strike behavior. I was then informed about my foot shape, pressure distribution, and run pattern. I was then presented with a selection of shoes to try on. All of this can sound overwhelming or even intimidating to someone new but the staff was very friendly and professional, it was a great experience for me to understand what type of shoes would be the best fit for me. They have most shoes you could want in many colors and sizes. Prices were comparable to other places as well as internet prices, so they're good there as well. Its hard for them to compete with the selection of an internet store, but the prices are good and you can get shoes the same day, so you can't really beat that. If you are serious or non serious about getting shoes, you should come in and learn about the type of shoe you need to support your activities. You can definitely tell the sales associate has had experience and knows exactly what you need. They don't pressure you to buy. They even teach you how to tie your shoe lace in a different way to optimize support. I bought a pair recently and it's the best pair of running shoes I own. With a shop having such a reputation amongst runners in the Southern Califronia area, I was dissapointed. They told me they would never carry my shoe size ever. I don't know if it's because they're on contract with all the running companies to only certain sizes but I'll never be able to give them a consideration in the future if I'm looking for something because I already know by default they don't carry my size. In addition I ordered a few long sleeved shirts at one point to which they got the order wrong twice. I had to drive all the way to Monrovia not once, but twice, both times finding out what was shipped to their location was the wrong item. Finally on the third time they got it correct. I was approached by a gentleman, but I did ask for a Spanish speaker for my mother would be able to express herself and no translation would be needed. Daisy provided a great customer service, very patience, she was able to see how my mother walks and test where she does more pressure. I used to hate buying shoes until I came to snail's pace. My problem with buying shoes before? I have wide feet and it's rare for most stores to carry a good amount of shoes for people such as myself. Another thing was I always found myself being between a size 8 and 8.5 shoe size. I thought maybe ordering specific shoes online would work but I still ended up with ill fitting shoes. This store has the technology. The shoes will make you better -- stronger -- faster. Well, that's how I felt with their 5 step fit process. Before their neato technology we used the old shoe measuring device. I love how these guys go above and beyond. They have the technology to actually read pressure points from your feet, measure your individual feet (ok the shoe measuring device can do that) and even look at your feet alignment while you walk/jog/run. So I had a mini crisis when I saw my results from their 5 step fit process. Turns out I have one foot a size BIGGER than the other AND one foot was supinated and the other one was pronated. No wonder shoe shopping was awful for me... Luckily these guys have the shoes to help you. I didn't come to the store to pick out running shoes - I just needed shoes that fit and make me feel comfortable and they delivered. No, I didn't end up buying one shoe bigger than the other haha. I didn't get the man's name who helped me this afternoon but I'm very thankful for him and the store. I'd been wanting to get into running for years, and finally made up my mind to start this year. My friend suggested A Snail's Pace to get my feet properly analyzed and fitted for the right shoes. Two separate people helped me as I had to go and come back (was in queue for breakfast down the road) -- and both were so knowledgeable and helpful and amicable. After telling me about my arches, width, pronation, and gait, four pairs of shoes were brought out for me. I never knew shoes could feel this comfortable! I'd been wearing the wrong shoes for my feet my whole life! I settled on some Asics, and bought a few pairs of Feetures socks (the most comfortable socks I've ever worn). I went into A Snail's Pace yesterday for the second time. The first time was about two years ago. They're amazing! They have you run on this treadmill and it records the way you run and how your feet land, so that they're able to find the right running shoe for you, depending on whether you're more of a neutral runner or if you need something with stability. They brought it to my attention that I tend to curve my feet in while I run, which is what has always caused me to get shin splints. I had no idea! They recommended a stability shoe, and I haven't had any problems with splints since! Yesterday, when I went in, I was happy to see that they still had my information saved! So Greg was nice enough to pick out some options for me. He helped me try them on, let me walk around the store, and even taught me how to tie them for a little added ankle support.
