I had a Samsung TV that was less than 2 years old and one day it just suddenly stopped working. After speaking with Michael on the phone he came over to my house and took my TV to his shop for repairs. He dealt with Samsung and was able to get a replacement part sent over - unfortunately this did not fix the issue either. Samsung decided to just send me a brand new TV (newer model) after all the back and forth. Michael even gave me advice on how to file a claim with my credit card company for the extended warranty protection and was more than willing to help me with any documentation I needed during this process. Hopefully this Samsung TV lasts more than 2 years but now I know who to trust with any future repairs. I'd gotten my 42" Plasma repaired from them a few months ago. The problem was a failed power supply component. The TV had not been turning on at all, after an unexpected power outage in my building. After calling around a few different repair shops all over the bay area, I felt that Michael from A Plus Electronics seemed professional over the phone, was willing to do a complimentary in-home inspection, and was giving me a reasonable estimate. Based on the initial phone conversation, I was under the impression that the repair work would also be done right in my home. But after a very brief inspection, Michael informed me that the TV would need to be taken to their shop for repair. Since he also offered to help me transport the TV to and from his shop, I agreed to get the service done. In a nutshell -- TV was repaired and available for pickup at the scheduled time, charges were reasonable, they had a 90-day warranty on their service, and overall Michael was courteous & helpful. The TV has been running okay for more than 3 months now. :) Minor complaint - there were some finger smudges left on the corners of the TV frame & screen (which I noticed only after bringing the TV back home), but I just cleaned those off by myself. Also the TV sound quality is slightly deteriorated, but I can't say for sure whether or not their repair had anything to do with that! read more

I was introduced to this company after the bulb in my 50" LCD tv went out. A Plus was assigned to our case through the insurance plan we have on our TV. I had to take a day off of work to be there for when A Plus could stop by my apartment. I was expecting a quick fix bulb change, however this was not the case. I also was expecting some kind of examination of my broken TV on their part, but they just took my word that I thought the bulb was the problem. To my disappointment I had to make arrangements to be home for A Plus the following day too. Luckily they were accommodating and willing to stop by after business hours. The next day when I followed up via phone I was told that they may not be able to make it over to fix the TV. This was upsetting as I was told the previous day that it would be fixed by then. I reached out to A-Plus Electronics with a request to fix one of my old 8mm video tapes. The tape was very important to me and I was worried about making sure it was in good hands. Michael was incredibly responsive when I contacted him and his technician fixed the tape within two days. On top of that, Michael met me along his route to return the newly repaired tape so that I didn't have to take a trip to their shop to pick it up again. Talk about service! Great service! Was able to text Michael's personal cellphone through the whole repair process and his response times were excellent. In the spring of 2017, we had them look at our TV and subwoofer. Our ~5 yr old 46" Samsung LED TV suddenly stopped working one day so we had them take a look. Their assessment was that fixing the TV (panel replacement) wouldn't be worth the money. e.g. the fix would cost ~$300 and you could get a brand new cheap 4K TV for ~$500 at the time. We didn't bother getting a 2nd opinion since that'd cost more time and money. They offered to recycle the TV for us for free, which was convenient for us. They're not audio experts so the subwoofer repair took quite a while and ended up costing more than I expected. Originally, after dropping off my finicky 200W 10" subwoofer (which would only play sound intermittently) they said that there was no problem w/ the subwoofer. But when I picked up the subwoofer, it was in worse condition than I got it in. The power LED wouldn't even turn on. I tried fixing this myself by replacing the fuse, but the fuses kept blowing. Michael ended up getting the schematics for the subwoofer and replacement parts, both of which were hard to find, and fixed the issue. My problem all along could have been a bad RCA cable... Anyways, I now have consistent sound from my subwoofer! Albeit it has quite a few more scratches than it originally did... But I'd much rather have my subwoofer producing sound than looking pretty. Also, Michael's flexibility was greatly appreciated. I made multiple subwoofer pick up and drop-offs outside normal business hours at his house since he lives closer to me than where his office is located. read more

An aptly-named business, if ever there was one. My parents' 55" Samsung TV wouldn't stop turning on an off one day. I called Samsung and they recommended an out-of-city technician. Searched Yelp instead and came across several places, A-Plus included. A-Plus Electronics was literally the ONLY place that called me back within an hour. Michael was able to come over to check out the TV within 2 days (on a Sunday no less). He is super polite and knowledgeable. The diagnostic fee he said would go into the total price of any repair that ends up occurring. Seemed pretty fair to me, considering he planned to take the huge TV with him to his office to look at AND bring it back to our house. We were worried the repair would be more money than a new TV would be, but it turned out to be some issue with the "main board". Michael himself sounded relieved by this since he knew how desperate we were to tune into the Warriors game that week. :) He brought back the fixed TV with the help of a colleague a few days later, set it back up to the satellite dish, and lo and behold the TV was like NEW. I say this because not only did it turn on/off normally, the annoying lines that had plagued the TV previously were also completely gone! We are very thankful to have found Michael and A-Plus Electronics and highly recommend them. Michael even texted a week later to ensure the TV was still working as expected. The left side of my Samsung TV when dark and was no longer back lit 9 months after the 1 year manufacturer warranty had expired. I reached out to A-Plus Electronics & Engineering to see how much it would cost to repair. I got a response from Michael and he said that it would not be economical to repair and suggested that I look into the credit card that I used to purchase the TV to see if they had an extended warranty. And he was dead right! Turns out my credit card did offer a 1 year extended warranty for the TV. So I started the claims process with my credit card company. Michael was more than happy to help me through the entire claims process, even though he knew that he would not be making a single penny off of me, since, as I mentioned before, the TV was not economical to repair. Thanks to all of Michael's help, the claim was filed and approved and I am now looking for a new TV. It is nice to know that there are good and honest people out there like Michael. He had a look at it and quickly diagnosed the display panel. My set was only two years old, so I called Samsung and politely explained that even though my set was out of warranty, I didn't expect the display to fail in such a short time. When I last went here this was A Plus Stereo Repair. Do not go here and i will tell you why. I took my high end vintage stereo here after I was told they could fix it. If getting the run around for months before finally retrieving it (obviously not repaired) and finding it almost unrecognizable (dirty, missing buttons, chipped wood siding) under a work bench because they didn't know where it was, is fixing it, then yes... they sure fixed it. I brought my JVC amplifier to aA-1and after weeks of delay I was told it was fixed, I took it home but I had bought another used amp and didnt need to use that JVC amp but when I did and tried to turn it on it was dead no power. After six years my Brionvega Cuboglass TV designed by Mario Bellini featured in the MOMA said lights out! I called around and most repair shops only repair new TVs like Sony, Sharp, etc. and flat out said no. A Plus was the first to say they'd check it out. It was an endeavor. We contacted Brionvega in Italy and had parts spec'd and shipped. Mike was very courteous and professional. It wasn't cheap but given this is a very special TV, it was worth it. My Samsung plasma went out and he was able to salvage it by repairing my power supply board and upgrading my capacitors (known weak points for Samsung Plasmas) He was able to pick up / deliver / install my tv without much fuss. I brought my projector in to them with a cooling problem. They looked at it and called me back two days later, said it was a bad temperature sensor, and that they could fix it for about $300, but that it might not be worth it given that a new projector of the same capability is about $500 to $600, and would come with a fresh bulb. I took their advice and bought a new one from Amazon. They don't sell them, so there was no benefit to them. I appreciated the honesty - anyone could have just fixed it and taken my money. read more

I called thinking I was going to schedule a home visit to fix my poor Samsung LED TV. I love my Samsung because of its dynamic colors. However, suddenly one day --- my Samsung became a Sony, which lacks awesome black levels and is known more for "realistic" colors. I like to see life in dynamic colors. I spoke to Michael and he was friendly, personable and helpful. He asked me what were the symptoms and then explained to me what he thought it might be. He was kind enough to give explanations of why he thought what he did. This works well for someone like me who get excited anytime I can gain a clear understanding of how things work. The final result was Michael giving me some things to try to see if I may get the colors I love so much and if it didn't then I was more than welcome to bring it in and his crew will take a look at it. I felt Michael is a man who truly knows his products, enjoys his work and most importantly, focuses more in helping people than making a sale. He could have come out, charge me for the visit and tell me some baloney and I wouldn't be the wiser, but he demonstrated true character by helping me help myself. Unfortunately my tv couldn't be repaired, but they didn't charge me for the part they had order for it (the part wasn't the issue, the tv itself was) and still offered their suggestion on my best options. This was the by far the best experience with any repair service company that I have ever had. I have a Samsung TV that was a couple of months out of warranty. He suggested that I work with my credit card company to utilize the extended warranty that I didn't even realize that I had. Michael was great to work with. I called on Friday afternoon and he came to our house to look at the TV on Monday afternoon (after I told him it wasn't a rush). When he saw the problem (the color on the TV is wonky) he was honest that there wasn't a cheap fix and the best bet was just to buy a new TV, and then didn't charge for the home visit. About a week and a half ago Michael messeged me back that they had found a way to fix the problem with our TV. He came over the next day, picked up the TV and left us a loaner (So amazing!).
