Came to A Flour Shop to pick up cupcakes for a colleague's birthday on the way to work, though I had been eyeballing it for a while. Maybe the cupcakes were really just an excuse to check it out for myself :) They had five different flavors of mini cupcakes, several cake parfaits, one tall premade cake, fudge, and Macarons in the cold case. I was hoping for some full-size cupcake options and possibly even some gluten-free options, but that wasn't in the cards for today. I selected the mini cupcakes because they were so cute and the flavors sounded amazing. The chocolate espresso and vanilla salted caramel really piqued my interest. They have some fun, seasonal drink options and I chose the strawberry shortcake latte because it came highly recommended by Miranda, who met me at the register and was so incredibly patient as I asked at least 37 questions. Her positivity and attention to detail was unwavering. I also really love the fresh flowers and unique items for purchase in the seating/store area. This place is as adorable as it is delicious. I don't know why I slept on it for so long, but I am glad I finally made it over. I ordered a basic oatmilk latte, but there was nothing basic about it. It was the perfect amount of creaminess without too much bitterness, which is something a lot of coffee shops do struggle with. And the pastries! Next level! It was hard to decide what to try, but I was feeling savory, so I enjoyed a spinach artichoke croissant. Flaky, flavorful, and filling - the F trifecta! Got the blue matcha, it tasted florally and like a watered down chai. A friend got a banana foster and it was overwhelmingly Carmel and tangy. We both couldn't finish the drink. Not worth the hype. Only good thing were the dogs. read more

Absolutely adorable business--an aesthetic 10/10. I love the vibe, and even though they're right downtown, they have a couple parking spots. I've seen people studying or working there, and I get why. I like their pastries. If you're looking for a basic chocolate chip cookie, this probably isn't the place. It's a little fancier in terms of baked goods, although they make a great classic iced cinnamon roll. There's a good selection of flavors, often new things to try, and they'll warm them up, which is fabulous. My bf and I arrived on a Tuesday around 11. Parking was TIGHT and full. We had to park on the street, thankfully that was easier, but could get tight quickly. I was surprised how busy it was inside, limited seating. Looks just how other pictures show inside and out . Very clean, cutesy aesthetic. Unfortunately, their coffee was disappointing. We both got cappuccinos. Idk something was off about their coffee flavor and then the way the blend of espresso and milk. Didn't hit right. Next the croissant was burnt. You could tell the inside had flavor but the top too crispy and a bit too oily. We also tried the chorizo croissant, I liked the bread, but wasn't a fan of the insides. Definitely filling tho. Service was friendly. I felt the could have cranked the AC cooler, we both started sweating drinking our coffees lol. This was such a cute coffee shop! There is a tiny parking lot that's shared with the bridal shop next door so it can be hard to find parking on the weekends. The interior was very spacious and there was a large spread of pastries and desserts. Got 2 of the April drink specials - lavender matcha and the dulce tres leches latte. Drinks were great and we had to pass on the fun pastries as we were heading to lunch, but definitely would be back! read more

I came in for a cake class early and the barista/ cashier was a bit cranky (Taylor M). I asked about where to check in and she was a bit snippy. This was my first time coming in for a class and didn't know that a drink was included and so she had to void out my drinks that I ordered. I understand it was 2:30pm on a Thursday and she was ready to clock out. She seemed really annoyed at me that I didn't know what I was doing. Yes I was early and we spent $200 on this class and expected the host to be a little more friendly than this. I'm sure she's not the actual host/instructor but she represents the entire team that is hosting the event. I'm from the East Valley (Chandler) and I don't usually receive this poor level of customer service. Finally got to revisit A Flour Shop. I remember having a great experience the first time I came here, had a pastry to share with my son and my usual coffee (honey oatmilk latte). This time around, it still did not disappoint. The latte was a perfect blend of sweetness and coffee. They had ample amount of seating and chairs are comfy enough. Saw a post on Instagram about their Cake Canvas and Coffee Class and knew it was something I wanted to do. So my friend booked it for us and we patiently waited for our date. They offer the class on Wednesday and Saturday's. Inside the shop is beautiful they have many drink options and their pastry selections read. On the menu as delicious. The cake class is one hour and you get some great information on how to bring your vision to life. The class came with a drink of your choice and I had three Panamanian Coconut Lime Matcha and it was delicious! What a nice little bakery/coffee shop experience. I ordered an iced brown sugar cinnamon latte and chocolate milk. Both were great with minimal sweetness but a great flavor. The coffee was not too sharp either. I also ordered an almond croissant and got it heated up. It was soft and crunchy and didn't have an artificial almond extract flavor which I was glad about. I love this little shop! It's so cute and family friendly. Love the atmosphere and the blonde woman (I can't remember her name) was super sweet! I ordered an iced latte with lavender and it was PERFECT. I also tried the banana bread and I could say it may have been the best I've tried so far. The cashier was very friendly and patient as we orderd a few different things from drinks to pastries (both sweet & savoury). It's very spacious and aesthetically pleasing inside with cute tables and couches, with cake stands and whatnot on display. There's a shared parking lot is convenient as it's not super packed, but, of course, when it is busy, it can be tight to get a spot. Truly a fan favorite in Phoenix! It is the cutest brick building with such sweet pastries and yummy drinks inside! It is open early for all the early working people and the staff is so nice! This is really such a cute shop and space. Other than being extremely aesthetic, they offer so many delicious pastry options and full coffee bar. My husband and I shared a chorizo breakfast burrito, ham and cheese croissant, money bread and cold brew with sweet and salty cold foam. All the food items we had, were delicious. Buttery and flaked. They offered to warm them all up for us. I would definitely get the ham and cheese croissant or monkey bread again. The burrito was good, but still a tad cold in the menu and I typically want a salsa with my burrito, which they do not have. Cold brew was standard, smooth and generous cold foam. Service was so friendly and everything came out pretty quickly. They have a good amount of seating options to snag a seat and eat on site. Some of their items are so reasonable in price and others felt a little steep, but you are definitely getting quality which I can appreciate. I've been on a mission to try more local coffee shops and this little cafe was on the list. It's super cute inside, very bright and welcoming. It's almost minimalistic and tastefully decorated. We got there at roughly 9:15 am and there was a good amount of people. The cashier was super helpful and made sure to point out some of their house/signature items. I will say the pastry selection was limited when we got there, which is understandable because I imagine people come EARLY to get what they want. I like that they have unique syrup flavors to add to their coffees, I got the brown sugar cinnamon and added it to a oat milk latte. Absolutely delicious, not overly sweet, and you can still appreciate the taste of the coffee. My BF got the coconut mocha and liked it. Also, the size of the lattes was generous for the price. I think mine was 7$ (because of the oat milk substitute). The real star of the show was that five cheese toastada (if I'm remembering correctly). It's was so flaky, but the filling so creamy and delicious. There was so much flavor, it almost tasted like a pizza! Definitely go show them some love. We spent 25$ for everything which isn't bad. The pastry itself was 10$ so if you get multiple is could probably get expensive. They also do bulk orders if you ever wanted to cater from them, they just need advance notice! read more

They had so many other sweet and savory pastries that looked incredible. Although not a ton of seating is available, I was able to find a small table near the front door to get some work done. Customers ranged from families to friends meeting to catch up. This place is adorable! It has a curated, relaxing vibe right in downtown Phoenix. Parking can be limited, so be prepared if it's a busy time of day to park in the nearby neighborhood. I decided to check out this place on a Wednesday afternoon. It's located in a busy area and there are a few parking spaces in the back. I would recommend parking somewhere nearby and walking over, if you could. The interior space is very cute. There are large windows, a large mirror, a display wall, and a few tables where you can sit. I ordered the vanilla oat latte and lemon poppyseed bread. Both are very tasty, but I would say that the lemon poppyseed bread was my favorite. It was tardy and sweet. It tasted more like cake to me, which is what I loved about it. This is a great place if you need to grab coffee in the morning or in the afternoon. I definitely recommend this place for your new coffee stop. read more

I stopped in and was pleased to see A flour shop is within a Bakeshop. It's bright, clean, open and welcoming. The employees were super friendly and helpful. I went with a cinnamon roll which was large and then two lattes, one almond biscotti and sugar cookie latte both with oatmilk. The cinnamon roll was warmed up at home and had a side of frosting, it was really good! The coffees both were a bit watered down and lacking some flavor. I would stop in again for some pastries and might give the lattes another try and update. read more

This place is so refreshing when walking in. Like a breath of fresh air and then the smell of baked goods too! I had to try the peanut butter sandwich cookie. It is so soft and creamy delicious filling made it the BEST peanut butter cookie I've ever eaten. That is saying a lot being that I am a baker myself. I bought two so I can have another tomorrow with my coffee. The only problem I had is my coworkers could hear me opening the not so discreet packaging every time I opened it. We recently moved to the area and have been looking for a good coffee/pastry place. This is well within a reasonable walking distance and, from the looks of things, exactly what we're after. The day being fairly early, there were maybe two to three people in there and two employees behind the counter - so one would at not terribly busy. We began the ordering process and some things stuck out: My wife order a pastry and some type of iced coffee, tow which the employee remarked "oh I can get that for you." As if to imply that this was not a typical request (despite the beverage selected being on the menu and no self-serve area evident). Just a strange remark. Similarly as I ordered, much the same like "do you want us to do that or do you want to?" Again, I'm not sure what the intent here is if the business doesn't appear to have a self-serve area. I noted the costs and type of items ordered before paying and tipping. They even took my name down, which I assume they would use when it came time to pick up the order from the counter. They were quick about getting the coffees and the first pastry out, but then nothing. No call of my name, my wife had to tell me stuff was ready as she had glanced at the counter. Strange that, even though my name was typed into the computer and they made sure to ask how it was spelled, they never called it out. Again, I'm going to stress that there were three customers in the building. As I'm picking up my coffee they ask me if I want cream in it, despite already telling them so during the ordering process. So they had completed the order and pushed it to the end of the counter, but hadn't actually READ the order or actually thought about what had been requested. Again, quite strange. I would expect some faltering during busier times, but not when the employees are literally standing around with nothing to do. So I wait some more thinking they're going to be warming up the cinnamon roll/bun I ordered. The. Two more customers file in and place their orders. Still nothing. I sip on the drip coffee and am struck by how unremarkable and bland it is, it didn't even taste like it had half and half in it, despite watching them pour it in. A few more minutes go by and I walk up and ask about the cinnamon roll/bun I ordered. I get this response from them: "Well which one did you want?" "Whichever one was the cinnamon roll for $7.00" "Well we have two different kinds. Do you want the brioche or the other one?" "I'd like which ever one you rang up on the order. The $7.00 one." The other employee says something to the effect of "he probably ones the traditional one. Do you want that warmed up?" I shrugged and said yes, then just walked away thinking - why are you asking me now after I've ordered what kind of cinnamon roll I want and anything else surrounding that, when you know that you have different kinds? Why am I having to ask to get my order if you took the order and then did nothing to complete it? Why would just stand around and not complete the order? Why no apology? So confused by this interaction. (We had dinner at Pomo the previous night and the waiter apologized that the appetizer was taking longer than expected. These are simple courtesies.) So again, they just push the order the end of the counter and don't say my name - which was, I think the point, otherwise why bother? I walk up and this doesn't look like the "traditional" cinnamon bun that someone would think of and no question or other response of apology for forgetting the order (quite literally 5-10 minutes had passed between initial interaction and asking where the food was). I grabbed a fork, sat down, and considered heavily to just throw it out since I had no idea what I was looking at. Took one bite and all I tasted was yeast. No actual cinnamon flavor and the frosting or whatever was on top equally had no flavor. My wife had already finished her chili pastry and was 3/4 of the way through her coffee before I even took a bite. I took one more bite and just couldn't stand how awful it was. My wife took a bite too and remarked about the same lack of flavor and strange topping. We got up and I threw the whole thing out. No sense in asking for a refund or speaking with either employee regarding service or food. I certainly won't be returning and will opt to drive to JL Patisserie than have to go through the incompetence at A Flour Shop. read more

A very special coffee shop. Visited today and really enjoyed their coffee drinks and extensive selection of delicious in house created pastries. I had a mocha and warm pumpkin chocolate chip scone. My daughter tried an iced latte and corn cheese gallate which she thought was excellent. The atmosphere of shop is bright with loads of windows, natural light and fresh flowers. So great we went here twice on our three day vacation. Their pastry's are so good- we had a sweet scone and the pizza pastry that was so freaking special I can't even put it into words. Got here at opening on a Saturday so it was nice and quiet and the displays were full. I was warmly greeted by the girl at the counter and the bakers in the back. This was my first time here so the girl at the counter was patient and helpful in answering my questions and making suggestions. It is a spacious beautiful place with fresh flowers, a large mirror, some speciality coffees and syrups for sale and a big wall of glassware and items they use to host teas. Anyway, I got a chocolate croissant, bacon jam croissant, ricotta cookies, a mini cupcake, a Dubai chocolate bar, hot caramel macchiato, and the bananas foster specialty coffee iced (since that's the way it usually comes) breve style. Everything was DELICIOUS. My son is obsessed with chocolate croissants and he loved it. The bacon jam croissant was AMAZING! It was stuffed with the bacon jam and they did not shy away from putting plenty of bacon. I loved the bananas foster drink. The Dubai chocolate bar, while yummy, is quite rich so it's an item to share with others for sure. Some stuff was for my family and they enjoyed all of their items. This is a lovely little coffeeshop with a vast array of delicious-looking pastries and baked goods! I was in the area and looking for a coffee. I ordered a coffee and a pumpkin pop-tart.
