A local legend! In the heart of the Melrose you will find great coffee at Copper Star! Staff is super friendly! Coffee was nice and cold! Street side neighborhood parking (free) as there really isn't a big parking lot from the establishment.
Wonder out side ambiance at 2pm on 7th ave, with a quaint gas station turned coffee shop. If you have allergies I suggest being inside, but if you don't, the tree makes for wonderful shade. The shop is clean and fun looking. Reminds me of If the 90's style came and set up shop in the future. Grunge but elegant coffee. I know it sounds wild but they hit an amazing sweet spot, that deserves recognition. I will be back. Thank you for the hospitality.
This place has been on my list for a while. Stopped by Thursday morning around 10:30am and there isn't any designated parking, but lots of street parking in the neighborhood. Quite small inside but they seemed to have a nice system. Bonus, they have a drive thru as well! Immediately knew I wanted to get their breakfast bagel sandwich. The nice cashier took my order: breakfast bagel sandwich on a sesame seed bagel with bacon for the protein. Also ordered an iced 16oz cherry and vanilla latte with oat milk. The coffee was made quickly for me and it tasted amazing, great balance of flavors. The breakfast bagel sandwich was absolutely to die for. I'm a bit picky on my bagel sandwiches but this one was nicely condensed, bagel tasted fresh, cheese was melted (my fav), and flavorful bacon and well cooked egg. Some seating outside but not too much. Will definitely be back to try some of their other bagels & items on their menu. Really nice employees as well:)
Great experience. Great service. Great coffee. Great location. I got dolió which I think is 2 shots espresso w cream. Hot. Cute vintage gas station bldg w lots of kitsch decor inside. Tables to sit inside and medium siz wrap around patio outside. Looked like a drive thru too. Plays good music like Green Day and sublime etc nice place- def make a visit when you're on 7 avenue
Definitely the best breakfast bagel I've tried!! The bagel itself was sooooo good. I got the everything asiago and it has soooo much flavor. I got it with sausage. Would definitely try bacon next time. Went through the drive thru and ordering was super easy and quick even though the line seemed long. The girl who took my order was sweet and prompt. Cute little place. Definitely try the bagel sandwiches!!
If you are in the mood for a killer breakfast sandwich, this is your spot. The Eva bagel is amazing - with melted cheese and everything bagel seasoning on it. It made the perfect base for my perfect sandwich. The bagel was moist and delicious. I got my sandwich with bacon on it which was perfectly crispy. The place was pretty packed on a Sunday after church but we found a spot right after ordering. You order at the front from a cashier and they seemed busy and said a matcha would take a while, so I didn't get a drink - but I'd like to next time as they have a bunch of fun flavors. I enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the good weather. They have both inside and outside seating which is good for groups.

Let me preface this by saying I'm a Jersey girl living in the desert and probably have higher standards for bagels than most. I had the Frankenstein bagel with sausage egg and cheese which was very tasty and I enjoyed the flavors for sure. The texture just wasn't it for me. I found the bagel to be a little small and too dense, resulting in it being a bit flat. There wasn't any height and really no fluffy inside or slight crunch on the outside. The sandwich overall was small for what you pay. However, service was quick and friendly and I loved the indoor/outdoor space with seating. Felt very homey and welcoming.
Truly amazing coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches! The closest thing (if not better) to hot bagels around here with a way better selection for beverages. Very cute, alternative vibe for the ambiance that will surely leave you feeling welcome and satisfied!
I've been going to copper star for 10 years! It was close by to my apartment and I recently moved to an apartment in the same neighborhood as copper star! Now, I can walk there. It's an absolute gem in the neighborhood. All the employees are super kind and wonderful and they give my sweet little Jackson the biggest treat. He loves everybody and I love their fresh salt bagels, wonderful lattes and yummy muffins.
We stopped at Copper Star Coffee one morning in PHX after reading some stellar reviews--it looked like a cool spot for a cup of coffee and a bagel sandwich. The location is a true neighborhood gem: a renovated old gas station with a retro drive-thru under a carport, which definitely adds character. However, our experience didn't quite live up to the hype. Upon entry, the baristas didn't seem too friendly or thrilled to be there. As far as the vibe, don't get me wrong, I love a bit of Kendrick but blasting the explicit version of Kendrick Lamar at 8:30 AM, with kiddos around, and the neighborhood crew just didn't seem to like the baristas could read the room. Moving on to the food and drinks, I ordered a café au lait and my husband went for a cappuccino--both were just so-so. As avid coffee drinkers their version lacked any real spark. We also tried the bacon egg sandwich and a blueberry bagel. While it appears they make the bagels from scratch, as an avid bagel fan, I was left underwhelmed. The outdoor seating option was a plus, and I believe the place has a lot of potential. But based on our experience today, it's not a spot I'd recommend.
I had a 30-minute window between two appointments and needed a breather. Downtown driving is stressful and exhausting. My coffee passport brought me to this very unique cafe on the way to my 2nd appointment and I couldn't be happier about my experience, and I was able to release my stress after this short visit. Granted parking was limited (because I didn't know that I could park at those gas pumps lolll), I got a warm, spacious welcome as soon as I walked into the cafe. The vibe is cozy. I felt like I'm in a little town's gathering spot. I could also sense so many creative minds joining force to make this space colorful. I love the paintings, the stickers, the decoration, and the overall flow of the cafe. The old school cash register was too cute!! Free WiFi is a plus!! I ordered a Cubano coffee because it was their signature drink. It hit the spot!! With this being my first time, I got a punch card (yay!!) and they generously offered a homemade pastry to go with my drink. My jaw dropped. This is the richest and tastier brownie I've tasted in a while. The saltiness offset the chocolate richness perfectly! Also, imagine every single bite is an edge piece!! Mind-blown!!! I wish I lived closer because this place would so be in my coffee run rotation. Until next time! read more
Phenomenal food, drinks, and service. This was my first visit and I went through the drive through on a Saturday morning which went really quickly - they came out to cars to take order and payment. I got a blended chai, asiago bagel with cream cheese, and cinnamon roll. I like super sweet drinks and read that the chai can be spicy so I asked for it to be sweetened; I might try it without next time because it was plenty sweet and the best chai I've had in Phoenix. Also the best bagel I've had here - fresh, super cheesy, perfect balance between soft and cheesy. The cinnamon roll was because they didn't have cupcakes but it worked out. It was soft and smothered in incredible cream cheese frosting. I live within a block of 4 coffee shops downtown and will happily drive here from now on for my weekend treat. Plus, from their Instagram, I support their values and advocacy. A new favorite! read more
I LOVE Copper Star! I literally dream about the rosemary Asiago bagel. All of the baked goods are made fresh, and that's obvious when you taste everything. My favorite thing is the bodega bagel - your choice of bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and bacon. It's so nice being able to get a breakfast item without eggs (since I can't eat them) that is filling and delicious. I also love the m&m cookie and get one every time I go! The environment is so welcoming and inclusive, and all of the staff are friendly. The restrooms are not gendered and clean as well! We don't live close, but I love every excuse I have to visit. read more

I love the bagel breakfast sandwiches at Copper Star Coffee! Whether you choose bacon, pastrami, or sausage, you can't go wrong. Also, props to them for having a pork free breakfast sandwich option. So far, these are my favorite bagels in the Valley (yes, I like them better than Bagelfeld's). I come here regularly and appreciate their consistency. They have a friendly staff that provides great service, and it's a welcoming and diverse environment, which reminds me of my old neighborhood in South Minneapolis The tropical smoothie is great as well! I like that it's thick and not runny or watery like a lot of other smoothies. My one critique is, the salt bagels could have more salt on them, as sometimes there's only a few granules of salt. The ones I've pictured contain the salt level I prefer. This place is definitely in my Top 5 faves in Phoenix! read more

Copper star coffee it's a cute little coffee shop. They have some decent coffee a nice little spot too relax and talk with friends or to hang out by yourself. The service was also good no complaints. I'll definitely be going back here. read more

My favorite morning coffee and bagel location. The cubano is my forever go-to, along with the Frankenstein bagel with bacon. Service is always great here. Staff is friendly and attentive. Cute little shop in the melrose district. read more
Update On This Business The reason I gave them 2 Stars is the fact a 5'2"-5'4" brown haired college girl cashier gave my 2 almond cookies to a complete stranger tall guy who is not a customer who did not buy anything and walked away with the cookie. Another incident was when people who work there don't call out people's name or tell the customer it's not their drink and others just grab other people's drink and they do it on purpose. So the lesson here is to watch the people who just grab other people's items and walk away. read more

the service was amazing !! a great place to study. The coffee was super good, definitely would recommend. Same thing with the bagel sandwich it was super good !! somehow it was said that it was our first time going and the worker gave us a free treat !! my friend got the cinnamon roll which was soooo good and i got a cookie which was also good !! the vibe was very welcoming and chill !! read more
I've lived in PHX for almost 5 years and for some reason I had never been here. My husband recommended we try it as I was craving a bagel and he loves the coffee here. I got the Bodega Bagel which comes with bacon, cream cheese and tomato. I got the cheddar jalapeño and felt like I couldn't taste any jalapeño. The bagel itself wasn't good either in terms of texture. I got the aztec cocoa to drink and it was okay. I think if you come purely for the coffee it's a good spot according to my husband but for me it wasn't particularly great in terms of the bagel. I do love how diverse the costumers are and love to support local business that are inclusive. read more
Ya know, I was a little skeptical at first, given how rough around the edges Copper Star looked in some of the photos online, but I'm VERY glad I gave it a shot. Not only were the coffee flavors unique and quite good, the staff was SO nice. They were really helpful, and even gave me and my girlfriend each a free food item with our purchases since we had never been before! I can't recommend Copper Star enough. Be sure to get a fun flavor in your drink. You won't regret it. read more
Love this spot and their house-made bagels. The espresso is really delicious too. Try the pesto cream cheese on a frankenstein bagel and the iced cubano! They have a drive thru so you don't even have to get out of your car if you don't want to :) The staff are always really nice, but be prepared to wait 10 mins or so for your order when it's busy. This is definitely not the place to come if you're in a rush. I knocked off a star because there is some inconsistency with the cream cheese - sometimes it's perfect but sometimes there is barely any so it eats really dry. read more
