How have I not already left a review? Copper Star is such a quirky place. I've only ever done drive-thru, but it's an old gas station and just has this vibe about it. There isn't a drive-up window. It's more like a drive-thru with car hops, though not on skates. They come to your car window to take your order as you wait in line and slowly make your way around the building. It's unique, but seems to work. Service is always friendly. They have a gluten-free options daily, which change, but work out great for me when we have a work event and I need some gluten-free options. Their bagel sandwiches are delicious, but one day I need to just try a regular bagel and cream cheese to get the full bagel experience. They have some great flavor options - rosemary! There was one blip last time I was there. They apparently lost my order. But as soon as they discovered it, they apologized and made my sandwich as quickly as possible and credited my card so it was free. That shows they care about their customers. And I love their beverages. I'm not a coffee drinker, but they have blended/frozen coffee options which are my favorite. If you're in the Melrose District, check them out! They have a drive thru so you don't even have to get out of your car if you don't want to :) The staff are always really nice, but be prepared to wait 10 mins or so for your order when it's busy. A wonderful little coffee shop in Phoenix. We came in and there was a decent line but it got even busier with the line out the door while we were eating. I tried an ice Cubano and oh man was it delicious!! My first time trying a Cubano coffee. Smooth with some sweetness. We also got bagels. The Frankenstein (jalapeno cheese everything) bagel with pesto cream cheese and tomato. It was so flavorful! The pesto was not overpowering which was nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. The bagels have a chewy but soft texture and are a bit small, but light and airy. Cream cheese was smooth and flavorful and held up to the heat of the bagel without getting runny. The everything bagel has toppings just on top, but they are plentiful and well toasted. The perfect balance of onion, salt, seeds. The jalapeño cream cheese is made with pickled jalapeños with a hint of heat and sweet.. but the crown glory, the house made party with Schreiners sausage.. do yourself a favor and get that.. so good! Inside a restored gas station is a really, really good bagel shop. Their pastrami on a sesame bagel is perfect- the cheese, the meat, it's all perfectly seasoned and so good. Really liked their vegan options for bagels. I had asked to get a bagel with tomato and mixed greens with a side of vegan cream cheese. I asked for it to be lighted toasted and it was delicious. I don't however like that the person assisting didn't seem to be as friendly when I asked questions about the items. I went through a drive through that was easy to place the orders but they don't give you an itemized version of your receipt to know what you paid for. Went here many times a few years ago when we lived nearby. It's been a while since we've been back, and we were really looking forward to it! Unfortunately, customer service has gone down the tank. If you want "a coffee" and something absolutely delicious to eat - copper is the spot. The vibes are unmatched. The service is friendly and chill. Funny even. Never had a bad experience. But, the espresso is just not good the last 6 ish months I literally stop somewhere else for coffee and then go get a bagel from copper. I'd rather drink home coffee .. which says a lot. Not sure if it's the beans, the machine, the grind, the temp .. idk. Just not worth it to me.
