Great service! I locked my keys in my truck right before they were closing. Tom stayed open late on a Friday to get me back in my truck. Thanks! read more

If you need keys for your car, or home, Longs Locksmith, AKA AC Lock is the place to go. They are extraordinarily skilled & knowledgeable, and super nice too. Their prices are the best in town. read more

These guys are great! They know what they're doing, from making a simple key to something more complicated.

Fantastic service and great quality work! I've never given a yelp review to a business before, but after Tom came to our house I knew I needed to let everyone know about AC Lock in Berkeley. From the start, he was friendly and professional on the phone. I called in the morning and he promptly came out to our house an hour later. He spent time educating me about exactly why we were having the door and lock issues in our home on several doors. His prices are very fair, and I would highly recommend using Tom for any locksmith need you may have! read more

I agree with all rave reviews of this locksmith. My 1989 Nissan pick up truck needed a plastic replacement piece for both doors and Tom drove to the Nissan dealership to pick up the part and the technician expertly replaced the defective part. These guys are GOOD! read more

Had a few keys made a lock fixed at my house. Good service. Not the cheapest, but definitely one of the best.

Daughter locked herself out of her house and they came out within a couple hours even though it was late night. Very affordable prices for the service. Made her 4 copies of the key, hoping she learned her lesson and will keep a spare hidden from now on! Thanks for all the help! read more

I needed a 2nd key made for my Ford and I am very glad I came here. The attitude is top notch. The service fairly fast and very professional. I ended up making a yet one more spare key (i.e. have 3 in total) and am not worried at all should I lose a key anymore. (when you have 2 of those programmable Car Keys, you can program a 3rd one by yourself). Oh, and the price was great too! (half or even less what you would pay at a dealership). read more

Everything was great except that the locksmith told my tenant that she should install a double-key deadbolt (the kind that was banned because they're not fire safe) because they're more burglar-proof than the single-key kind. Seriously awful! He said it was illegal for him to install one (no duh) but she could go pick one up at Home Depot. She called to ask me if that was okay, and of course I said absolutely not. Then she said, "I should've just done it without asking and then switched it back after I moved." This is like the sweetest person in the world saying this, so I know the guy must've scared her out of her wits. This sucks because: 1. I paid for him to come out because I wanted to help my tenant right away in the most professional way possible. Basically, I'm the one paying him and he's sabotaging me! 2. He scared my tenant. 3. He might've scared my tenant enough to make her do something really unsafe. 4. Now I have to sit around and worry that she'll do something unsafe. Not only do I care about her, but if she dies in a fire who's left to testify that I installed the proper lock? It crossed my mind to take a photo and have her sign something, but that's yet another icky stress-filled hassle. 5. He's wrong. The idea behind those locks is that the burglar can break in but then he can't open the door from the inside so he's limited in the amount of stuff he can steal. Whatever, we have huge windows and in this century, almost everything of value is very very small. Even fairly bulky items like TVs and desktop computers usually fit through whatever opening a burglar can use to get inside. This isn't 1972! 6. He's really wrong. All my tenant cares about is her physical safety. The last thing she wants is to come home to a guy trapped inside her apt. It would be about a thousand times better to come home to all her stuff stolen. I really hope Long's will instruct their employees to stop advising people to do illegal shit. It's unprofessional, dangerous, and shows that they don't know which side their bread is buttered. read more

I just called Long's Locksmiths to get a quote about opening a padlock of which I had lost the key to? The guy that answered the phone told me that they would either create me a new key or they would need to destroy the lock. I asked what method they would use to remove the lock, because I didn't want anything to get damaged. This is where he got irate, yelling at me, telling me that he can't give me an answer because he hasn't seen the lock. OK, buddy....Wow...settle down! I guess there is such thing as a stupid question. This guy has issues and I'd suggest not doing business with a person/company that treats customers like this. It's not like they're the only locksmith in town. read more

SUPER NICE! They came to my house to remove a rusty lock from my outdoor cabinet of earthquake supplies. Quick, efficient, helpful, and they threw in a marine-grade replacement lock that's unlikely to rust. Fantastic! read more

I can't recommend AC Lock Service enough. Not being from the Bay Area, I always dread having to find a new person (I still haven't settled on a mechanic ...) but Tom is a one in a million find! I was recommended to Tom on Nextdoor when I needed my ignition repaired and my key wouldn't turn over. Tom fixed the ignition and made me new keys for less than half what the other locksmiths charge. He also discussed with us whether to replace the ignition entirely, because many times the repairs don't last very long and people end up having to pay for another repair (which none of the other locksmiths told me). As another reviewer said, he also put money in our parking meter when we had to wait for him to return from an errand. Tom helped us out again when my boyfriend's Honda was stolen and recovered and the ignition was punched. Again he was totally upfront and didn't charge for something we didn't need. He may hesitate about quoting prices over the phone, but take it as a good sign, I have always been pleasantly surprised. We have two old cars and it's not easy keeping them up, but at least we have Tom's help! read more

We just moved into a new (and very old) home. We needed about 6 locks rekeyed. Within a few hours notice, AC Lock was at our door--did everything in about 2 hrs, and even stayed past 6:30 to make sure it was all done right. And SOOO warm and friendly, not to mention very reasonably priced. Highly recommend these guys! read more

Second time using Long's Locksmith. My house framing had settled in a funny way, and the locks didn't quite line up without some real jamming from me. I said it wasn't urgent but Tom was able to come out right away anyway. Not only did he fix things so they lined up again, but he told me what happened with the framing and gave advice on what I would ask my contractor (for a recent back studio re-do) in adjusting doors so that weather and settling wouldn't cause further problems. Reasonable cost, too. Much appreciated! read more

I was able to call in advance and get a quote and availability for a 2006 Toyota Highlander transponder key. Metered street parking readily available. Make sure to bring all the keys you currently have for car to be sure they all work after the programming. Quick, easy, reasonable pricing. read more

Tom was amazing. Even did a little extra work on our door to prevent the lock from failing again! highly recommend them!

Long's Locksmiths is fantastic. I locked myself out and they came in 30 minutes. The price they tell you is exactly how much it's going to cost. The last time I locked myself out I called a different service which promised $50 over the phone and wanted $130 when he opened the door! Longs locksmith has integrity though. After Carson from Long's unlocked my door he offered to make copies of my keys for free. read more

Support Local Businesses! I came here to make a copy of a key. The gentleman was very helpful, as I could not find a blank for this size key at other locations, and got me my duplicate and on my way pretty quickly. read more

If Long's Locksmiths was a restaurant they'd have lines out the door! I found them this morning through all the positive reviews here. I'd already called another less friendly locksmith and taken two trips to Home Depot trying to solve my lock problem. Tom was really friendly and genuinely helpful on the phone and arrived in fifteen minutes to accommodate my busy work schedule. He fixed the deadbolt and the handle mechanism very quickly and efficiently, explaining clearly what was broken. I felt so taken care of. I would never think of calling another locksmith again. read more

Tom answered my call for urgent need to change my locks after I moved into my new condo. He was pleasant on the phone, straightforward with the estimate, and very professional when he arrived with his apprentice, Carson. Took about 15 minutes, and tops and very good pricing for lock replacement, tightening of my new knob, and 3 keys! read more

I had a bolt lock that failed, he and his very polite apprentice arrived generally within the time promised, and fixed the problem, and one other problem without any problem. He was polite and professional, and he did the work within about 30 minutes for a reasonable price. He made no effort to upsell me on other items, and he was highly professional. read more

Locked myself out of a filing cabinet, and these guys were super helpful. Great service, and I'd def come back in case I ever lock myself out of anything else. read more

Willie was very helpful, offering me the option to bring in my broken front door lock and then fixing it on the spot -- saving me $100+!

I have had nothing but positive experiences dealing with Longs Locksmith. The guys they have working there are very knowledgeable and accommodating, not to mention friendly. If they don't have something you are looking for they are quick to find it for you. I highly recommend Longs Locksmith for all of your locksmith needs. read more

They provide the best service anywhere! After loosing my car key, I was told by Toyota that it would cost me $200 to copy and replace my key, I went to Long's and they copied my key for $3 and it worked perfectly!! Another time I had a tricky house lock key that I couldn't get duplicated correctly. I went back to Berkeley to Long's and again it was perfection! read more

Longs came REALLY fast and let me back into my apartment immediately. Then he didn't charge me! He said it was my lucky day. BEST LOCKSMITH EVER. Fast, professional, kind. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

I called around to a few places and this was the cheapest place I could find to get a copy of a car key. Chip keys / transponder keys are expensive, and most other places charged $75 to $100 for a copy. Long's did it for $60 and I was a happy camper. Nice folks here too. read more

Within two hours of my late afternoon call to Long's today, Tom was on scene picking the lock to a door at my home which I had inadvertently locked. I was afraid he'd have to drill out the lock, but he picked it open in a flash and re-keyed both the deadbolt and the knob to match the rest of my houses's keys -- to avoid a similar lockout in the future. And, then he proceeded to fine-tune my front door lock which had become problematic. My duplicate-of-duplicate keys (from OSH) had become difficult to work. Ba-da-bing. Tom is the man. Fast. Reasonable. Professional. Personable. He is now my local locksmith! read more

Tom is amazing. Lost my car keys. He came to my house and cut new keys. I had a small problem with the work a few months later and he came back when I called and fixed the problem and did not charge me. He is honest, takes pride in his work, and is dependable. read more

Today, Long's received my locksmith business for life. The amazing service and kind demeanor was more than I could have asked for and the price was beyond fair. read more

After calling several other locksmiths,Tom was the only one to accepted the job ,as it was fairly complicated. excellent service great communications I'll definitely use Tom and his crew again. read more

Long's is great. Lost my car keys. After much searching and fretting finally decided I needed to just get new ones. Other locksmiths said it would be $300, $175, $20 to look and at least $90 to rekey... The deal said they didn't have key codes going back more than 10 years (my car is 1997). But Long's said if you can bring the VIN and proof of ownership, we can look up the key code (they go back to 1990) and cut you a new one - all for $50. And they did. And it worked. Thanks guys! read more

We needed some strike adjustments done on our locks, and Dave called the day he was supposed to come to confirm when he would arrive (that's always nice, right?). He was quick, super nice, professional and did a great job. He even fixed a loose doorknob at no charge. Excellent service. Highly recommended. read more

I had numerous services (car key clones, remote installation) done today by Tom and his guys and they did and exceptional job! They welcomed us with open arms and tom even went as far as running out to put money on the meter. These guys have been in business for nearly 40 years which goes to show their level of expertise. read more

The owner of Long's went above and beyond the call of duty in repairing my antique lock. I was literally amazed at their dedication to getting the job done right, no matter the obstacle or commitment, and for that they have earned my highest praise and recommendation. Kudos. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I feel this is the least I can do to show my appreciation and respect to this establishment. Tom is an excellent locksmith with great experience and work ethics. My car key broke in the ignition and half of the key lodged very deep inside the ignition switch. Unfortunately my car was parked at a residential area with no permit, and Tom arrived within 30 minutes . He put in such great amount of effort to solve my problem on the spot. He even fixed my separate ignition problem (need to wiggle the key to turn it sometimes) for free because he wants the ignition to work perfectly. Magnificent quality of work at very very reasonable price. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I went there for a repair of very old deadbolt lock and they helped me change the pins out on this old lock in 5 minutes. I was able to re-use this lock on my new door. They said the locks are not made this way anymore and this lock was a really good lock. Service was terrific and very friendly. Price was extremely reasonable. The staff appeared to be very knowledgable. Will be back. read more

I called the 5 minutes before these guys were closing on a holiday weekend and they came right over to check out a difficult garage door that we needed to intsall a lock on. Tom the owner clearly cares about building a customer base by being responsive, very nice, and doing the work for a reasonable price. He was less expensive than other locksmiths I called and threw in some extra pieces of work for free. There is no doubt I would call him again and refer him to others. A great local business. read more

I locked myself out of my car right before going into an exam. I couldn't deal with calling a locksmith until after the exam, but I was in a 2 hour parking restricted area. When I left class, I only had 30 minutes before worrying about getting a ticket, but Longs's was able to get out there within 20 min. I was so relieved. They were reasonably priced, and were so courteous when they arrived. Tom made me a new key car key and lubricated my locks (with environmentally friendly lubricant). He was so nice, thorough, and fast. I'm keeping their phone number in my phone for any future mishaps:) read more
