It's not that the service couldn't be done by anyone else but the dealer, you guys just couldn't do the service, or refuse to. He's an incredibly kind and friendly person and highly skilled at what he does. He always goes above and beyond, for example tightening a doorknob when he noticed movement while he was rekeying a lock the other day. Awful customer service, and he managed to break the locks I asked him to fix, to boot. I'm leaving this review a few months after coming to A/C to get new keys made for (2) exterior locks on my shuttle bus (bus didn't come with the keys, so not just simple copying). After fiddling for 30 minutes (no updates along the way) he informed me that he has broken the cylinder on my vehicle's accessory door lock, doesn't have a replacement, but ensures me that any local hardware store will have a replacement (they don't - I've been looking for a while and no luck yet, so my vehicle remains unlockable....). The other lock has now also proven to be poorly done. The replacement keys he made stuck half of the time I used them and now both keys have sheared off in the cylinder. So alas, I have to go back to a locksmith two months later to try and do the simple work that this business utterly failed to do. This guy is straight up rude, which, if he was an excellent locksmith I could forgive. In fact I had even recommended this service to others saying "the guy is a total jerk, but knows locks". Given his fading acumen in the only service his business offers I can no longer recommend, and in fact would strongly recommend you go anywhere else. I know I will. read more

It unfortunately turned out that my car was too old to have a new fob programmed to it, but Tom tried three different programming tools and spent forty-five minutes trying before coming to that conclusion, and because he wasn't successful, he declined to charge me. I've used AC Lock Service to duplicate keys only, so far, but I have to praise the quality of the duplication work. Our keys are copies of copies, but if you tell Tom that he'll set his machines to bring the new copies back closer to factory specs so you don't end up with keys that either have to be jiggled and magicked to work, or that don't work at all. He is a one-man shop so it's best to call ahead to make sure he's in, as he's often out on jobs. read more

They technician was in a bad mood from the moment he arrived. Not only did Willie get the broken key out, he figured out how to remove what I thought was stuck forever. He even managed to make a new key out the one that was snapped in half! I wanted to get an extra pair of car keys for a long time, in case I lost my only key. Dealers charge a fortune to program a key fob or car remote. The owner told me to come in an hour before closing. This way I didn't have to skip work. After he finished with his customer he started on my job. A woman thought she was ahead of me and had a big job (so he could either do my work or hers) and he told her I was there first. I didn't have to interact with the other customer. That showed that he went out of his way to be fair. Anyway, he made me a duplicate key. I have been using it for 2 months now and has worked well. The first time they hooked me up with new spare car keys - - When I bought my used Subaru, which didn't have a spare, I found out that they cost a pretty penny from the dealership/Subaru Inc., however, I found keys bay, and they were able to program them, easily quickly and at a fraction of the cost. The other time I went over there with a file cabinet with a key apparatus to put in. They were able to take out the lock that was not working, easily and quickly. A door in our house locked itself the other night. Honest!! And to make matters worse, the keys to the lock were in the locked room (yeah, bad planning) I wanted to get this resolved in the morning before I had to go to San Jose for some meetings and ended up making an appointment with Long's. Tom arrived in a little over an hour after I called and he was very apologetic for being 10-15 minutes past when he'd originally said he'd arrive. I didn't feel quite as silly after it locked itself again after being unlocked by Tom (in no time flat) while he was adjusting the lever. Apparently some kind of mechanical problem in the locking mechanism. On his advice I contacted Baldwin and they are sending a whole new leverset to replace this one. read more

I love these guys. They accurately cut your keys for 2.75. Versus the 1.50 keys from Osh/Home Depot that you end up taking back to get recut because they didn't do it right the first time. The worst is when you make a copy of an Osh key...they don't work because the copies are so off. Long's is quick and helpful and their keys always work. Also, today, even though they could've tried to hoard business for themselves, they referred me to Rex Keys because I could've gotten the job done faster. Outstanding service! I normally only give food reviews but felt the need to come on here to leave a very positive review because of the outstanding service I received yesterday. The guy managing the place was very professional when I called to get my car keys cut for my Camry. I bought 3 keys and took them to get cut and programmed for my car. He charged me $100 for the 3 keys to be cut and programmed! The dealership charges $375 per key and wouldn't program the keys I bought from an outside vendor. Since parking is hard to come by where the the store is located and it is all paid parking , the gentleman up front said he'd pay for my meter and did. He was very polite and at the end genuinely thanked me for my business. He also said if I ever have any problems with the keys, just bring them back and he'll take care of me. This place is first rate and I highly recommend. read more

I first came here to get replacement apartment and mailbox keys made after I had my bag stolen. The service was prompt and incredibly courteous. I took a mental note. A few weeks later, I needed copies of keys made for a small frozen yogurt shop I manage, including one very tricky archaic cash register key. The folks behind the counter this time were also patient and friendly. The missus (it seems to be family owned) was there and offered me some awesome pizza while I waited since they were all eating lunch. And then a few months later (today) I returned to get more cash register keys made because my cashiers have a habit of breaking them (by leaving them in the register and then accidentally hitting them with their knees and/or food cart) and, once I described how the other keys kept breaking, the gentleman behind the counter offered to trim the keys for me to have extra small heads (less protrusion from the register = less likely to get hit by carelessness). In other words, I have only ever had positive experiences here. The keys work (and work well! None of them have been sticky in the least), the service is quick, and the prices are great! I first tried out AC Locks on a referral from another place who wasn't able to make an ignition key for me. I brought Tom the key and he made me 2 spare keys. Unfortunately, the keys didn't work. I Brought them back along with the ignition cylinder and he was able to cut 2 perfectly working keys at No Charge!!! A couple of days later I brought in 2 door handle locks for my 2 vintage VW Buses; which didn't have keys. Low and behold, he was able to create and cut 2 perfectly working keys for both door handles. Unfortunately since there was something wrong with my door handle locks, Tom didn't even charge me! That was so touching for him to do that for me. It just showed me that he genuinely cares about his customers. He said, "I don't believe in charging my customers if I can't solve their problems!" He could have easily charged me for his time to make those 2 keys for me, but he felt bad that my door handles were broken and I was still unable to lock my doors. That wasn't his fault; he did what he was supposed to! He is really good at his craft and very knowledgeable in all aspects. Very polite and easy to work with! I absolutely LOVE this guy.
