I had posted a previous post about how rude, arrogant and dismissive the owner was when the air machine was broken when we approached him. That review was over three years ago. Apparently, it stuck in his craw because he just today sent me harassing vulgar messages laden with profanity thru the Nextdoor application. From a review from three years ago. I feel the other reviews, especially the unrecommended ones speak volumes about this petty little man. The littlest dog tends to yap the loudest. In fact, we used to patronize this business all the time when Bill Pardy and Phil owned it. Not anymore with this potty mouthed little guy who apparently solves issues by challenging people to "say it to his face" LOL (which, we in fact DID at the time and he responded very rudely). Over 50 cents!!!! Really? Are we back in junior high school? Looks like from the other reviews, quite a few customers have been treated rudely, but the owner appears to be in denial about it. I guess the truth hurts. I wanted to share one of the owner's responses in a direct message sent to me which I think speaks for itself to the true character and professionalism of this person (edited for Yelp) "You are a mother****** I don't need customers like you OK you gonna call the police for 50 ****ing cents you mother****** well you can go **** yourself you and where you came from and if you were a man and not a ****ing p***y you would ****ing come down and approach me because I have no idea who the **** you are people like you call the police for $.50 and that shows what kind of person you are" This unhinged person JUST sent me this vulgar message today(above) on Nextdoor DM from a review written THREE YEARS AGO. (I did not call the police about the 50 cents at the time just to clarify). Nice guy huh folks? Over 50 cents. I am a little confused with the negative feedback this business has on Yelp, because I didn't sense or experience anything like that when I had several encounters with this business. I needed a reasonable mechanic shop that was able to help me with a small auto service job. A friend had recommended A & L Service Auto Shop. I was told it was a father and son ran business, and they are great mechanics and give fair prices. As soon as I entered the front office, I was greeted by who I believe was the owner's son, and he was very friendly and polite and asked me how he can help me. They offered to accept the service I needed done, and called me back a couple hours later, letting me know they were all done and even charged me less than half what other auto shops were trying to charge me for the same service. They done a fantastic job and were very very professional. I plan to return to A & L Auto Service for all my future vehicle repairs. ..............I just wanted to add to the many people who left bad reviews for car inspection services, let me explain something to you. When you need a car inspection, and this goes with every single mechanic shop in the tristate area, when you need an inspection, you need to make an appointment with the auto shop, most of all the auto shops in Dutchess Country would never take a car in for car inspection/ insurance inspection as a walk-in and without a schedule date. You can't just pop up at a 2-car bay garage auto shop on your 30 minute lunch break and expect the mechanic to stop fixing the cars they are already working on that day , to do a 40-minute car inspection for you,. Many times, auto shops have certain days they do car inspections, many times auto shops have just 1 car inspection certified mechanic and he only does them on certain days. You need a car inspection, call the shop a week before and make an appointment like a normal adult, All the people who left negative feedbacks for this business, sounds like they are entitled people to me and upset the world doesn't work in their favor, especially the crybaby who lost $0.50 trying to put air in his tire. read more

Went here for a Carco insurance inspection. Went inside and told the young guy doing the inspections that I was there for one. He looked at me once, said nothing, and continued what he was doing without even acknowledging my presence. I ended up having to go back later due to lack of time that morning and dealt with the same guy who was short with me and barely answered my questions. Other employees in the shop gave me attitude and barely spoke to me as well. I gave two stars because another employee was nice and the inspection was done quickly, but man these people need to improve their customer service... I was honestly dumbfounded by their lack of respect. It's not that hard. I would highly suggest going elsewhere for your inspections. read more

Came here for a car insurance inspection and was told to come back at another time because 'they were eating lunch'. When I returned at the time they told me they said the time for insurance pics was over and the guy who takes them was gone for the day. One of the lowest gas price in the town. Same price for cash and credit card. Guys are awesome and friendly. Only struggling part is, there is only one full service and one self service gas pump, so gotta wait long if it is busy. read more

It was a summer day in 2014, 105 degrees out, I had issues with my Saab convertibles crank position sensor, and was on the way to Fishkill to a former Saab dealer to get the part, (not that I could have installed it based on the location it's in) while at the light where 82 & 52 intersect the car died, I walked into the shop and met Tony and explained the problem, he and another guy from the shop pushed the car to the shop, I went to get the part that afternoon, and the car was fixed the next day, great service, fair pricing, and a friendly guy, you feel comfortable in dealing with him. You know your vehicle is in good hands when the shop looks as clean and organized as this place does. read more

I just came from A&L Service to inquire about having a photo inspection done. I had called ahead and was told that no appointment was necessary. The only condition was that if it was raining or snowing, they won't do it. Understandable and fair enough. The facilities had a bad cigarette odor and the person I spoke with made a face that suggested that they didn't want to do it. I was asked to come back in half an hour because there was a "line of people" ahead of me even though from observation, it didn't appear that way. I am glad that I listened to my gut and headed home instead to check out what everyone else had to say about them on Yelp. I am taking my business to another shop that has given me the security of an appointment. read more

The guy is a scam artist. Trust me. I brought my truck in to him once to have a cheap plastic door handle installed because it broke. He ordered the part, but got it wrong, (supposed to be a mechanic and you don't know the right door handle on the vehicle you're looking at? Okay?). Anyways, he orders the right one apparently, and then tells me it's 200 plus for the repair because it was an "expensive part". I look it up, not expensive at all. Pretty sure he just wanted to have me eat the bill for his screw up. Multiple times my mom has brought her truck their and it's still screwed up. Customer service is pretty lousy too. Seen them scream at customers a lot. Constant circulation of employees there too. If you can't keep someone in the job, and it's a constant thing, maybe it's not them, it's you? Go anywhere else. Finally found an expert and trustworthy mechanic. I've been taking my cars here for over 5 years for everything from oil changes to major repairs. Tony has a ton of experience, is honest, and his pricing is fair. After 5 years and 4 family cars, we've never had an issue. I'll take my car to A&L over the dealership hands down. read more

Cocky POS. He cost me $800 for a carb and installed it wrong. Took his time, and made it worst then ever. The big guy is great, but I think he is just as clueless, because of the little guy feeding him BS. Good for propane refill, or gas up your car. I went to this station today for a Carco insurance iphoto inspection. I called up at 12:15pm to make sure i had time to arrive to get it done. First of all the person that answerd the phone was very rude saying that its just him nd he is going to lunch at 1pm so i better get there enough time before 1pm. I got there at 12:40pm and before i even gto to the door i hear "if your here for Carco dont even bother you have to come back." (VERY RUDILY) i told him i called before hand to make sure and you dont have to be so rude. He proceeded to yell at me to go F**k myself . If this is the way he treat a first time customer for a simple inspection I cnat imagine you would be happy with any service from this station. Unbelievable DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

The reviews are true, well the bad ones anyway. They definitely do not put the "Service" in Customer Service. I called over there and got a "Come right down, we'll take care of you". So I did. First I was accused of taking to long, 1/2 they said until they checked their own phone log and saw I arrived within 10 minutes of my call. All the while the guy kept telling me how he was entitled to a lunch. I never said he wasn't. I said I was told to come down there and it would be 5 minutes, in & out. The mechanic started yelling at the guy who answered the phone for telling me to come down and then basically told me to go away. It really is pathetic that a business can operate this way. Maybe Tony doesn't work that anymore, I remember him being a pretty good guy. He would be ashamed of the way these guys act. read more

Been going to A&L Service for about 14 years. These guys are honest, great mechanics with fair prices. The atmosphere is friendly and OMG is this place clean!! Even when I bought my new car in 2012 I still took it to A&L, not the dealer. I have a lot of different places I could take my car to, and have taken my car to, but once I found A&L I knew I was in the right place. You can't be a mechanic and have a service station for as many years as they have and not be good. read more
