Zero stars, but I had to select one to post this review. Awful. I scheduled an appointment over the phone the day before. When I went the day of my appointment, they said they didn't have my appointment on file. They were able to "fit me in" and I saw my truck go right in. For a tire rotation and an oil change, I was there for TWO HOURS. I watched as three mechanics stood underneath my truck staring at the belly pan scratching their heads. I asked the lady what the hell was going on and one of the mechanics came in and told me that I should be proud that I stumped the entire garage, claiming they had to watch YouTube videos, because they couldn't find the oil filter inside of my Toyota 4Runner, a very common vehicle. I wanted my truck off the lift and I felt very uncomfortable that they had to continue working on my truck because they already drained the oil. They had to get the "master mechanic" to complete an oil change.... Also, while waiting in the lobby, another customer came in for their appointment, and they didn't have their appointment on file either. I would not recommend them to anyone. I will not be returning. My buddy rotated all four tires and changed the oil in the driveway faster than these people with a lift. I'm going to have him check their work because I don't want the oil filter or tires falling off. I'm not very confident in their incompetent work. 2 oil changes, wow. i was on a work trip when my transmission had a leak and I took for diagnostic. they charged for diagnostic and charged for fluid fill in a truck with a shot transmission. I took the loss and the weird charge on the chin. what I hadn't realized is they stole the stuff out of my cab. over 2000$ worth of stolen stuff from my work trip. this place is truly a shithole read more

Caution. My 80 year old parents brought their car in for inspection, told needed brake light and 2 plate bulbs. After $45 for 3 bulbs, told there was an electrical issue. Took car home, brake light worked, there was no electrical issue, brought back to get inspected next day, needs plate bulbs??? Was charged for them but they said now that screws are rusted and it may not work so after 2 times there, no one checked to see if the plate bulbs would Work. When getting car inspected, whatever they need for pass, ask for the old parts back. After bulb install on brake light a beyond elderly couple were told the car still didn't work and there was electrical issues. if they had the money, they probably would have been duped. In the end, still no inspection, was reimbursed for the 2 plate bulbs that they never got. $32 for 2 bulbs that cost $3 each in autozone. I installed them in 4 minutes and have an appt to get car inspected tomorrow. Was told it was a big miscommunication between the tech and the advisor...not buying it. Remember to ask for the old parts when you're told you need something replaced no Matter where you go. Also, on tire rotations, mark with chalk the inside of the front tires and check them after the job, see if the chalk is now on the back or not. Most people never check. Wits did not do a rotation that's just advice for the future. read more

Disappointed. Doesn't stand by the work done. Gas tank replaced. Drove fine till I ran out of gas. Never ran out of gas before, any car. They tell me the fuel pump level sensor went bad after replacing the tank. Sure it did. They want me to pay $600 to fix that after $2k dollars on a used tank. We won't go back there. read more

Prior to writing this review I took the time to do what was asked on the bottom of my invoice, which was to reach out to the owner Mike directly, to resolve any issue. So I wrote the following message to Mike about a week ago and HAVE HAD NO REPLY. . Hello Mike: We spoke briefly a while back and I ultimately had some work done on one of our vehicles. Allow me to preface this with the fact that I was dealership service writer. I am sure you are aware that I must have some level of automotive knowledge to hold that position, even at a third rate dealer where I most definitely was not employed. I have allowed a long time to pass to allow my temper to cool, as I am mature enough to know it is much better to sleep on things then go shooting your mouth off and acting like an ass. I have no interest in writing to Carmela or any other staff member. If I am going to take the time to write out my experience at your business in great detail, over a couple of hours I only want to be writing to the owner of the business. As you will be the only person in the place who will understand what I have to say and be in a position to correct some pretty egregious b.s.and straight up incompetence I encountered. Took my Son's car in for an inspection, Wits said it needed brakes all around that they were "Metal to Metal", So I asked "How Much"? They gave me a quote of just just under $900. Went to Advanced Auto bought all the parts ($265.00). Took off the front drivers side, still good about 2/3 left, took off front passenger side, same, Rear the same. Took it to Brinkerhoff garage passed inspection, they said I had a good 5000 to 7000 miles left on the pads. I have paper work to prove this if you want to see it. It a shame, they have all this Christian stuff in their office, but not very Christian like ethics. read more

I rented a van from here in late September. The mileage they charged me for was the incorrect mileage. I called them and the man I spoke with said the mileage was off because of someone from the previous rental input the mileage into the computer wrong. Told me I would get my credit card account credited. Never did. So I went through my bank and disputed the charge. Wits lied to them and said I drove that mileage when I did not. Don't use this place. They are unprofessional and don't follow through with what they said they will do. read more

I have always taken my vehicles for inspections here and they have always been prompt. This last time they told me I needed new tires and brakes (which I knew was coming due). They quoted me a price and got the work scheduled right away. When they heard that I was getting an Uber to take me home they immediately offered to drive me back. Work was done when expected and they came and picked me up. I didn't ask. They just said they were coming to get me. The drivers were so very nice. The entire staff were courteous. Offering me coffee and water. This place knows customer service. Every employee I came in contact with was pleasant. So very nice and personable. They are also honest, respectful and fair. My invoice was less than they quoted me. It is also clean. Cannot say enough good things about Wits and the people there. They didn't just send me on my way; they were truly appreciative of my business. Great people and company to work with. Will always go to Wits. read more

Sal is great, he was worked on my car a few times and is always honest and upfront with me. Our first experience with this mechanic involved us being charged $50 just so they could look at the car for 5 minutes to give us a repair quote which ended up being $600 more than the quotes we received from other mechanics. Our 2nd and hopefully final interaction with this company was when Geico roadside assistance assigned them to tow our car for us, a service we ended up canceling because when the guy FINALLY showed up, it was 1.5 hours AFTER the end of the previously scheduled two hour window, and after multiple lies about ETA from dispatch. He had the gall to be pissy when my husband told him we had already cancelled the tow through Geico. The dispatch guy (possibly the owner?) from Wit's had told us two hours prior that the tow guy would be there in 25 minutes, then an hour after that, he'd be there in half an hour. An hour after that? Still no show, so we had finally cancelled and Geico will be getting another company out to help us. No thanks to Wit's, which, based on our experiences, seems to be run by and employs money-hungry, inconsiderate and incompetent fools. read more

If Yelp allowed me to give negative stars, I would. This place completely took advantage of my little sister when she got stranded in NY. Her car dies and mechanic said he needed to fix the oil leak and they should consider buying new breaks- he gave a quote for 1000 for the brakes alone. My sister said no. She is a young college student and just wanted to get home after having to sleep overnight in the car. When she got the car back, the leak was fixed but the brakes had been removed and therefore she could not drive. The brakes were fine when she dropped the car off. This is dispickable that someone would do this. Please, spread the word and never ever use or let any of your friends use this mechanic. read more

Very simple They're honest. They do solid work. Won't bs you and use quality parts (ie tires and ignition coils). I've had my coils replaced 4 times. 2 at chains 1 private and 1 at wits. Wits is the only one who didn't use the ones you can get at autozone and online. You may pay slightly more now but will save hundreds later and won't have repeat problems. read more

The worst possible experience. Crooks. Unfortunately I broke down, and was towed there. It was a mass airflow sensor that needed replacement. A $10 part and 2 Philips head screws later, I was somehow charged $540. The receptionist Janine, told me everything under the hood was wrong, and tried selling me everything. I declined her offer of just "routine" maintenance. She seemed like she was an car expert when she was selling the routine maintenance, that I didn't ask for. As soon as I questioned the obscene price of my bill, all the sudden she had no clue, how a car even has 4 wheels. Claimed she was not a mechanic and doesn't understand how cars work. Until I told her that I was calling the attorney general, about price gouging. She immediately started singing a different song. All the sudden she was again a car expert, and offered to refund me 25% of my bill. Which is still a complete ripoff. They don't give itemized bills, apparently it's not their policy. But she knew I was charged 1.5 hours of labor for 2 screws. They are nothing but thieves. Even in an emergency do not use these crooks. And please file a complaint with the attorney general, if you have been ripped off as well. The absolute worst possible experience you could ask for. Don't use them. Terrible, terrible experience. Plus the towing company. Big boss towing was pretty insistent that I bring my car there. As soon as he drops my car at these scam artists. He tells me, that he's neighbors with the scam artist owner, and he'll take good care of me. I suspect the 25% I got refunded was the tow truck drivers finders fee. Once again, when I bought up the fact that the tow guy, said he was neighbors with, mike the owner. Janine said she wasn't aware that they were neighbors, and that she doesn't understand why he pressured me to come to wits. I came in after the Mavis down the road recommended them for my Check Engine Light, and I can see why. They had a friendly attitude from the second I walked in, and kept me updated with each step of the check and let me know all the potential costs as so I was aware of them ahead of time. Even after I had to pick up the car early, they made sure everything was taken care of in the car. The prices were fair compared to a lot of the other car repair shops I've seen, and they try to take care of the people that stop by there! read more

I was out shopping early on a Saturday morning. I came out of Adams, and found I had a dead battery. I called Wits and explained my situation. So many things were going on behind the scenes that day for me, and their quick assistance relieved the stress of the situation. I had a car FULL of groceries with 14 people coming for dinner that day. They got me taken care of, and home before anything even had time to defrost! Their customer service was awesome! I had my car inspected at Healey during a previous service, and they never put the sticker in my window. Mike noticed it right off, and made sure that when I left there, I was inspected, and had a valid sticker. I will certainly see you again for my car needs in the future. Incompetent and disrespectful. Was quoted a price and then charged more at time of pickup. Wouldn't have been a big deal if they actually did the work they charged me for. Well I'm driving and my whole exhaust falls off, supposedly they took care of everything as per "sal" the so called shop manager, i called to express my concerns and the owner hung up on me. Don't bring your car here unless you want to be swindled and ripped off. My friend's mom loves Wits, and thinks they are the greatest. I took my car there for a rear brake issue. They charged me over 500 for a simple rear brake job. I think that is pretty overpriced, but I would have been willing to accept it- except that ever since they fixed the rear brakes the emergency brake does not work. The emergency brake line is attached to a lever on the shoe of the rear brake- so I feel certain that they did a sloppy job there. They also said that I needed new brake pads, rotors and calipers on the front brakes and estimated the job at 750. So, I asked my little brother to do it. As it turned out, the calipers and rotors were fine, and all I needed were new brake pads. Imagine if I had dropped $750 and all I needed was new brake pads? eek. In their defense, Mike, the guy who runs the place, seems really nice. read more

Had my truck towed there on June 24 after the fan snapped off on the highway. Called them on the 26th to see if they had an estimate, guy I talked to said they had been busy so they don't have a full estimate but he had taken a quick look and thought $1100. He said he'd know for sure by the end of the week. Fine with me. Not hearing anything from them I call them July 2 asking if they had the estimate, they said no but should have it by Thursday. Call them Thursday at the end of the day asking for the estimate, they said oh yea, it'll be in the ballpark of $1200 and should be done early next week. Great Call them July 10 to see how it was going and if they could do a once over to see if there was anything that might need to be fixed since I'm looking to sell it. Ok, says the guy, and it should be ready by Thursday. Fine. No word by Thursday, I call Friday the 13th and she says it won't be ready til Monday. WTF. Asked if she had the cost and she said no not yet. Finally get a call Tuesday July 17 saying its complete. Oh, and it's gonna cost $1700 total instead of the $1200 they told me 2 weeks before. Every time I called they told me they'd let me know in a couple more days. They had no idea how long it was going to take, they were just guessing. And the reason it cost an extra $500 was because they didn't see that the fan had hit the power steering cooler when it snapped off until after everything else was fixed. If I ever have a vehicle break down in that area, I'm gonna find a different garage to go. read more

He just sold me a car for my daughter and is constantly checking in when I see him to make sure she is happy and that everything is OK. He goes out of his way to thank customer. I remember a few years ago I was stranded at IBM EF, and thought I was covered thru AAA thru a paid membership. Wit's apparently had the local contract to do the tow. Well, guess what. They refused to come into the entrance gateway. To this day, I still don't know why, and it was very late at night. You have a sense of security thinking with the AAA club, you are covered right? Nope Wit's would not do it. I was absolutely livid, and would never in this lifetime use them for anything. It made an inconvenience into a night from hell. Thanks, Wit's! I would recommend replacing the W with an SH which would reflect the (non-level) of the service. read more

The wits auto service charged me $50 for a diagnostic, even though I had already doagnosed the problem. They told me "if that was the problem, then they wouldn't charge me." That was a lie, $50 was included in the invoice. One of the employees stole the change out my front cupholder. Not to mention after two days of driving my check engine light was back on. This is my second time going to Wits auto, the first time I traded a honda accord and the owner gave me less than the Kelly blue book price. Only put one star because it would not let me write a review with no stars. I typically dont do this but, I refuse to ever go back to Wit's. I went for a ny inspection, they ended up charging me more than an inspection costs, only to tell me that my car failed because a tire was too low. I understand that tire baldness will fail your car, but I was charged $21 to remove a wheel and put it back on...... really? Not that 21 is a lot if money, it's just a principle thing. And they kept urging me to do an oil change, which I had plans of doing directly after my inspection. The lady said that I would probably get a better deal since I know someone that works there. How about doing right by a potential returning customer instead. I would have gladly made them my go-to place for repairs that I can't handle, since it's close to home, but now you couldn't pay me to go back, or recommend them to a friend. read more

Driving from Maine and needed a check engine diagnosed. The other two Yelp higher rated want repairshops one said they do not have technicians on Saturday. The one said they wanted $100 and was only open for a couple of hours and would not help with any repairs. Found Wits though a local referral. And I am glad I did! Mike came right out with a tech, read the codes, let us know the problem, reset our check engine light and DID NOT CHARGE us. All with in 10 minutes. I do not know who these other people with out integrity that left such bad reviews. If I would have paid attention to them I would not have had this experience. We need to rent a uHaul truck to bring a couch one way to Buffalo. We were able to have UHaul arrange our pickup at Wit's Auto Repair. We were treated very well and they made sure the truck was warmed up and turned around for an easy exit from the property. The office staff was very nice and took care of us in a timely manner. I would have given them 5 stars, except the back of the truck had what looked like sheet rock dust on the floor and in the grips on the side of the truck. We needed to sweep it out before loading our furniture and cushions. read more
