When I called these guys about my cars busted ignition cylinder, it was about 0 degrees out with a wind chill hovering near the -20 mark. They gave me a quote and said they would be at my car by 1pm. Then it started snowing. They were there by 3, but I blame that on road conditions and not them. Saul was always calling me to keep my updated on how he was running late. That is the background, now for the important stuff. These guys are great! They got my car fixed up enough for me to drive it back to my apartment and away from a probably towing by the city. They did a bang up job in a freezing cold car and let me get home safe and sound. There is just one last thing for them to do for my car to be back to new, but I know they will do a fabulous job on it. Calling them was a great choice, so don't hesitate to imitate me on this one. read more

After more than 12 years as a customer of A ABC Locksmith at 3614 W North Ave., I am extremely disappointed with how my recent issue has been handled. I dealt mostly with Dan, who passed away about two years ago. He was great, and his service was a major reason I trusted this business with multiple properties. Recently, I called to authorize a tenant to pick up a key for my two-unit commercial building. I was told there was no record of the property--even though A ABC keyed the building and has cut many keys for it over the years. Saul, the owner, insists that the business did not do the work. I believe the records have been lost or misplaced, but we have been unable to resolve that disagreement. He told me that any expense involved in visiting the building, identifying the keys, or rekeying would be entirely my responsibility. He is refusing to take any responsibility for the missing PIN codes. I also asked for the key pin codes for four other buildings I have with them. Saul quoted me $200 per building to download those records, saying it was a cost passed on to him. After so many years of business, this response only added to my frustration. What disappoints me most is the way I have been treated as a longtime customer. I expected Saul to take my history with the business seriously and work with me toward a reasonable solution. Instead, I feel dismissed and left to handle the expense and an understandably unhappy tenant on my own. Based on this experience, I would advise customers to ask upfront about access to their key codes, any fees for obtaining them, and what happens if the business cannot locate their records. The trust I built with this business over more than a decade has been badly damaged. read more

The owner was super nice and friendly. I just needed a small part of a lock mechanism replaced and he gave me the part for free. I'll be back to rekey a few of my locks for sure. read more

I had to get into my car and i did not have my keys, both sets were locked in the car. Saul came out and took care of everything and helped me to get back into my car. He was all the way North and I was south. But he was friendly and prompt and got the job done. Lesson learned never carry both sets of keys with you. lol Great service. Jacqueline Navarro read more

Quick, friendly, and great prices. Duplicated a car key in a matter of minutes for less than a third of the price at the dealership.

Saul and his team were amazing. They fixed us up more quickly than quoted and for a better price than we found elsewhere. The level of service was beyond our expectations and rare these days. We look forward to working with Saul at A-ABC again! read more

Life Savers! So I'm home sick one Saturday night and have to use the bathroom. I live in a 95 year old home and some of the doors are original and our bathroom door is no exception. After I'm done handling my bathroom business, I try to exit and the door handle turns but the latch isn't opening. I thought the door handle was loose on the shaft but it wasn't. Turns out I was stuck in the bathroom. Luckily, my lovely wife was home and tried to help get the door open. After taking apart the door handles from both sides of the door and trying different things for 30 minutes, we still couldn't get it open. So she smartly called A-Abc after a quick Yelp lookup of locksmiths. We live way up on the far North side but they got up to us in 25 minutes (remember, it's 10 PM on a snowy Saturday night). After some fiddling, Saul was able to bend the wall plate back enough for the door latch to come free of it and the door to open, with no damage to the vintage door or door jamb. I was free! All for a price that was fair for the time of day, travel up to us and the careful service. Truly helpful 24-hour service! If you are in trouble, better call Saul at A-Abc. read more

AMAZING service. One of the locks on my house broke. These guys came out within 15 minutes (not exaggerating) of my call, were really nice, explained what had broken, and fixed everything in 10 minutes, even replacing the broken part of the lock for no extra charge! By comparison, the first place I called said they could come out the next day and would charge almost twice as much just to look at the lock. If anything needed to be replaced, that would be extra. read more

We just had a great experience! We accidentally locked ourselves out of our apartment when we went to take our dog for a walk (never a good thing), but Saul from A ABC 24 Hour Locksmith let us back in our place very quickly. Dispatch told us it would be about 20 minutes before someone would be here, but Saul was here in 10. It didn't even take him a moment to get us back in our place. He was very friendly and made sure to ask to see ID to make sure it was our apartment and to check to make sure that our keys worked properly in the lock afterwards too. We couldn't have asked for better service! read more

I lost my car keys somewhere on the streets of Chicago. Without a spare. AABC gave me the best quote. $150 to make new keys for me from the car. Saul and Ray did the job in about less than an hour. Saul explained what he was doing the entire time as he dismantled the car to get to the lock and Ray made the key and made sure my keys worked in all doors and the ignition. They were about 20minutes late from our scheduled time because they picked up another job in between. Im a stickler for punctuality so that made me go hmmm.... but besides that they did a great job at a doable price. I recommend them to everyone. And this is after calling around to A LOT of the locksmiths listed on yelp. read more

July 13, 2015 A-Abc Is Rocking Great. My call was answered immediately and a date and time convenient to me, was immediately set-up. Kudos, to Dan (Dan-The-Man), a locksmith with decades of experience. Dan called an hour prior to the appointment to confirm he was on his way. He arrived right on time. Dan is an absolute gentleman. He took the time to carefully understand my needs as I was changing seven locks, and my situation was a little complicated (to me, but not to Dan). After reviewing my situation, a date was set-up (again, on a date and time convenient to me) to do the installations. Again, Dan called an hour prior to the appointed time to advise me he was on his way. Yes, you guessed it, he arrived right on time. Dan expediently completed removing the old locks and installing the new ones. And, he left the area clean. This is to all the ladies who are reluctant to have any service done in their home when they are alone (and you should be extremely careful). Dan was professional, efficient, courteous and above all, a real gentleman. Thank you A-Abc 24 Hour Locksmith! And thank you Dan. read more

My family has been coming here for years, we like to support businesses in our neighborhood. Recently I had car trouble and the tow truck driver that my insurance company sent lost the key to my car! So I was told to get a written estimate for the key to be made and thought it would be simple, I spoke to a couple different guys at ABC and they said they couldn't do that for me, I guess because I didn't have the $150 at hand for them to come service my car they weren't interested. They were not helpful or sympathetic at all. So when I receive my check from the insurance company they won't be seeing any of it. read more
