I had some keys cut here because I needed to get them quickly. The keys were cut correctly, but I wish the guy had told me *before* he cut them that the two keys I gave to him were identical before he cut me copies of both of them just stop confirm. They had different heads and since they don't always work to open one or another I assumed they were different. I think it wouldn't generally make sense for someone to bring two keys and ask for two copies of each if they knew they were the same key right? Anyway I spent twice as much as needed here for that reason, and the keys were something like $6 each to be cut so it wasn't an insignificant sum. I need to get all the knobs in my house replace and locks keyed alike but I will check around. read more

Terrible counter service. Had a middleman go back-and-forth instead of having the person who knows what they're talking about actually come to the counter and speak to me. Then they wanted me to bring the 600 pound safe in to have a lock changed. What locksmiths don't make house calls. read more

THESE GUYS ARE TOTAL SCAMMERS!!! They installed 5 door strikes in our building... Since the strikes didn't seem to be working, we made an appointment to have them test the strikes. They were on site for less than 15 min and charged us 450 bucks...when making the appointment, at no point did they mention any costs. I I WOULD ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY!! read more

No recommendations of any other locksmith given and then she hung up on me after saying some crappy "I'm sure your landlady will call back" despite my saying her phone isn't ringing. Took it to Anderson Lock and sales person (282) did not get his name not only was able to get it open but was able to make a key. He made my grand daughters day. This company was a mess to deal with from top to bottom. I called in for service on an office building, and was pushed around from department to department with no clear answer as to when service might show up. 5 days later, while I was off site, the tech called saying he was 20 minutes from our office, which meant I had to cancel my meeting. Took him 2 trips to fix our issue, spread out over a week, we had to have an electrician present because he couldn't do the job himself, and after he left we discovered that the system still was not working. It is a key card entry system, so we didn't know there was still a problem until after normal business hours. When we called back to have them service it again, we were told a different tech would call us back. This took 3 days. When he did find time to call us back, it was to incorrectly tell us that he needed authorization to work on the system (he didn't). He refused to come out and fix the problem. We are using a different service entirely, this company was a waste of money, I would recommend looking elsewhere read more

Yes they take your money and yes they give you a lock but no they don't give you keys! Do they follow along or what they took an oath before the taxpayers in God to do No! They make their own rules and disregard the law and leave you locked out and burning $5 a gallon gasoline back and forth back and forth back and forth we're out your phone talking to everyone who says they're in charge! When you get there ask to see their licenses prominently posted in a public area and then make your complaints appropriately when the government says close the door don't change or somebody will open the door with sympathy empathy and professionalism Anderson is dead: he took his integrity professionalism with him whenever he is! I list a new owners but there's too many of them and you can't find them when you get there It won't make a key when you bring one in They won't make it a lot unless you join their professional club and pay $550 a month for the express membership The only want to do commercial as far as being a locked on me key company Got nothing to do with what they are! If you bought a lock from them make sure you get 10 keys and make sure they work and document the fact you did it for the lawsuits and when they get their license revoked it'll be evidentiary! read more

Stopped in to find hardware needed for a commercial property. I needed an electric strike, a new lock mechanism and door switch. The ones I had were ruined and/or stolen. You take a number and wait to be helped. The wait wasn't long. They've got more than four associates helping people on the floor. The associate which helped me was able to offer some alternatives to what I needed. What could've cost me about $300 dollars per set of hardware's, turned to about $220 dollars for two sets. Also he mentioned the locks/handles were reversible to allow for left hand/right hand. He explained how to set it up, I had a faint look, so he did it for me, free. He also mentioned in the future, if needed, I could call and have them send someone out to take an estimate. Whether just for parts or service also. (Yes, it is possible to find cheaper parts at other major hardware stores. But, you must remember, this is a high end store with quality parts) They can also make duplicate keys for what looks like ANY key ever made. I asked about making a duplicate of a Master pad lock key, they said they could do it. Its expensive for duplicates, $3.10 each, any key style. They have a clearance area that is easy to see. read more

I got a vintage Mid-Century Modern Teakwood file cabinet for real cheap, because the lock didn't work as the key broke off and was stuck in the lock. I worked the part of the key out of the lock with a pick, and brought it to Anderson Lock, seeing the photo of the large wall of key blanks on their website, and also because I have had satisfactory work done by them in the past. I figure if anyone has a blank for this old vintage lock, made in DENMARK, they will. So I bring the tiny piece of broken key bit in, hand it to a guy behind the counter, and he walks down this long wall of blanks, RIGHT TO the right one, without looking around or comparing them to dozens before finally finding the right one, makes me two keys. I go home and now have two working keys for this awesome mint condition vintage file cabinet. If it had been a recent cabinet, and made in the USA, I could understand this, but a Mid-Century Modern cabinet Made in Denmark? I doubt I would have had this success at any other locksmith in the area. I LOVE this place and am very thankful they are still around all these years! read more

I just purchased a home in the northwest suburbs and used Anderson Lock Co to change out the locks. Since I was moving from the city, I wanted to get some high security locks. They hooked me up with exactly what I wanted, installed the locks (even drilling doors to install deadbolts where none had been before) and did it all in less time than they originally quoted me. One item was not in stock and was special ordered. Unfortunately, I had to install that myself or pay them to come out again and finish the job. I was very happy with the service and the products, but they should have included the labor for doing the complete job, not just one trip for what they had in stock at the time of my order. read more

I have a century-old bungalow with a lot of the original door-locking hardware. I had a problem with my mortise style lock. I removed the lock assembly from the door myself and took it to Anderson Lock. They rekeyed the cylinder so I could use the original keys and also avoid printing duplicate keys for everyone. The other issue was the knob had worn right where the set-screw was so it kept spinning; they gave me new hardware to fix that. read more

They nickel & dime you. I own an apartment building & the front main keyed door lock broke. I bought a new lock for $120. As I was installing the new lock I discovered the wrong key had been set as the "main key" so an hour after buying the new lock I went back to get it changed to the correct key. They charged me $13 for something that took him 3 minutes to change (no parts just labor). They guy recognized me & acknowledged I bought the part 1 hour ago but still insisted on the charge. That is not what I call customer service. They got their $13 but I will go somewhere else next time. read more

Called and scheduled a quote to replace all the door closers on the exterior doors to our condo building and install astragals to help deter crowbar opportunists. John came out within 72 hours and gave us our best and most helpful (he explained everything extremely well) quote by far - we also had three other reputable lock companies do quotes for us. I called back to schedule the work and Tom was here four days later. He was timely, friendly, and went above and beyond pointing out and fixing other door issues he found along the way.
