Initial contact: They were extremely responsive when I reached out and I loved being able to schedule online (and there was a solid amount of availability. At the appointment: When it came time for the appointment, the technician (who was on time and fully communicative) went above and beyond in the best way. Not only did the technician answer my 100 questions and concerns about smart locks, but he also advised me my options with different locks throughout the property to balance safety and cost. I thought they would only replace the locks but they also were able to replace the doornobs, offering several appealing options in the style I wanted. They had a variety of options for locks too - regular door locks, deadbolts, and smart lock varieties. They even cleaned off the door all around the doornob because it was dirty and looked a little gross! My biggest joy has to be that they were able to use the same locks on multiple doors so we could use one key for all the doors, which is a lifesaver because I was startingbri appear as a janitor with so many keys, lol. After it was all done, they made me a bunch of copies of the key, which was helpful and honestly unexpected because I thought I'd have to go to Lowes after to do that myself given the million and one copies we needed for various family members. Vibes: it was such a seamless experience with an incredibly friendly, helpful, technician who treated my house with respect (eg no outside shoes inside) and was patient with my questions/concerns. Cost: Pricing was all competitive with other companies I considered. Overall: An excellent experience; I'll only be using Danny Keys for my future lock change needs and recommending them to my friends and neighbors!

They ended up charging nearly $700 and the invoice had no amounts listed for each task which is deceiving. I fell for those glowing albeit suspicious 5 star reviews that overshadow the negative ones. Make sure they tell you the prices up front. Had I known all the other charges they added after they got here, I would have never booked them. I love supporting local businesses, but not ones that knowingly take advantage of people by not being upfront with costs so we can make an informed decision. No mention of any other fees when I made the appointment. I called several other locksmiths after to check and sent pictures and was not quoted more than $200 to $250 all in for what they charged nearly $700 for. They took advantage. I now notice they arent BBB accredited and I understand why bc that requires a company to "operate honestly and with integrity" along with 8 other standards and when you bait and switch people that wouldn't be possible.

It was late in the day because the original company I called was a no-show. Chicago Locksmiths said they could do it and gave me a same day time window. Excellent communication: The technician called me at the start of the time window to tell me he was on another job, but would be there within 2 hours. This allowed me to get on with my day rather than waiting by the window/the phone (as the other company had left me to do all day). The technician then called me when he had finished the previous job and gave me a time frame of when he would get to me. As it was quite late I decided to reschedule for the next day. The same evening Chicago Locksmiths called me to confirm a next day appointment time. On the morning of my appointment the new technician called to say he was on his way with an ETA for arrival and called when he reached me. The communication was excellent and meant I could do other things because I knew Chicago Locksmith was keeping me updated on the status of my appointment. For the appointment itself, the technician was great. Explained everything, gave me advice on one of the doors which was coming loose off the hinge. In this instance I needed deadbolts swapped out and upgraded from the old school manual to newer digital version. The newer version had a larger deadbolt Than the one currently installed on my doors, this the hole had to be re-drilled larger. I was not comfortable doing that. Gary had straight forward pricing and was very easy to schedule. Other places tend to have hidden fees and end up charging you more than originally quoted- so their prices seem cheaper upfront to get your business but ends up being more expensive. After Gary updated two deadbolts to the digital versions the price came out exactly as quoted. He also rekeyed everything on the same key in the event the key is ever needed. The price came out exactly as quoted. Beyond price he is just a super nice guy and clearly an expert in his field. Highly recommend Gary for any of your lock or security needs.

They had different heads and since they don't always work to open one or another I assumed they were different. I think it wouldn't generally make sense for someone to bring two keys and ask for two copies of each if they knew they were the same key right? Anyway I spent twice as much as needed here for that reason, and the keys were something like $6 each to be cut so it wasn't an insignificant sum.
