Immaculate facility. Extraordinary customer service. Learned yesterday that my almost-80-year-old-mom needs storage space on an emergency basis. I went online first and kicked a whole bunch of storage facility tires. Of three close contenders (after reading Google and Yelp reviews, the regs, etc.) A-1 got my first post-research vote because the woman who took my first call (Jaidi?) was so sweet. Totally professional, warm, genuine, and absolutely no pressure. Today Mom and I trekked up there (on the bus--it's even transit-accessible!) and were beautifully cared for by Peggy. Peggy took a ton of time to show my mom two units, and answer a bajillion questions. Very nice security system, spotless facilities, easy-to-navigate, unbeatable customer service. And even an outdoor resident "mouse-patrol" cat who let me pet him! (Guido totally rocks! And I understand he has company on mouse-control patrol.) Not the cheapest facility in town (though they do offer a senior discount.) But I feel really good about this place, and wouldn't hesitate to store my own stuff there. Heck, I'd feel comfy moving in! ('Cept they don't allow that...) Peggy helped three other customers (one new, two existing) while we we there. She was awesome with all of them. A-1 has good folks working for them! P.S. A-1 Self Storage is great! I have used this facility on more than one occasion, and recommend them to anyone looking for a place to store your stuff. The rates are good, the staff is friendly, and even if they're office is closed - They're still open! The kiosk outside the office will allow you to handle all your needs... from renting a new unit, to purchasing a lock for the unit, to paying your monthly bill (if you're not already paying it online, that is). All in all, a really great place to keep your stuff safe. Even if you forget to set the alarm code on your way out, it automatically arms your unit after 10 minutes, if the door has been closed! This is a great facility offering different space options. Mark did an excellent job at explaining each one of them as well as showing us three sizes in order for us to make a sound decision. For over ten years, my husband and I maintained a unit at A-1 Self Storage located at Concord Boulevard and Kirker Pass in Concord, California. We are a large family and needed additional space for items during these past years. Last month, we relinquished the unit as the children are grown and the need for additional space is no longer an issue. I never worried about the safekeeping of our possessions as the facility is a fenced property, featuring video security and electronic gate access. The buildings and grounds are always very clean and the buildings well lighted. Ours was a larger-sized ground floor, indoor unit and drive-up access made for easy loading and unloading. A-1 Self Storage is also very well managed and staff members are professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Initially, Art and Peggy were front office contacts and, more recently, Mark, the current manager. At all times, billing was handled in a courteous and professional manner. We vacated the unit on the anniversary of our monthly rental start date. A few signatures and quick inspection of the unit was all that was necessary. We had a good experience at A-1 Self Storage and were very pleased with all aspects of service. I just rented a space for the first time. Mark was amazing! He has outstanding people skills and made the whole process enjoyable as well as efficient. Mark walked me through the process of entering and exiting the facility and demonstrated the circular lock. He made sure I knew what was available if I needed assistance at any time. It was so nice to work with someone who is experienced and can answer every question clearly and completely. It is rare to hear someone talk about a business transaction being enjoyable, but it was. I had my belongings at this facility about 7 months while in transition waiting for a house to be built in another state. I always felt my downstairs inside unit was clean and secure. The temp stayed reasonable even in summer. When I needed a second short term unit, Mark at the front desk was able to find another unit right across from the first one which made it convenient when it was finally time to load up for the move. Mark was also able to accomodate me when the service I was using to move, dropped the trailer to be loaded at the site and couldn't pick it up until next day. Paperwork when vacating was quick and painless. As moving is never fun, and moving cross country even less so, I appreciated feeling the units were secure and Mark in the office being easy to work with and willing to help when he could. I would recommend the facility to anyone needing a secure place for storage. read more
