One of the inconveniences of living in northern Moreno Valley as a cyclist is the scarcity of bike shops. I don't mind traveling a little to buy a bike, but I want something close for maintenance, repair, parts, and maybe community. When I have wanted to repair or do maintenance in the past, it would involve a 60+ minute round trip drive to Riverside or Redlands to drop off the bike, then repeat to pick it up. Discovering and visiting 951 Bikes was both promising and a blessing. My end of day visit to the shop was to get some cleats for some new shoes. The price was reasonable, not Amazon low, but I prefer to pay a few more to support a local shop. The store was stocked with a lot of accessories in front and parts behind the counter. I had to wait to get help, there were two guys working on bikes in the back and another helping customers with checkout. Everyone I met was friendly, and I left hopeful that I found a place to satisfy my local bike mechanic needs. read more

I purchased a bike from a local Riverside/Moreno Valley shop. After a couple rides the bike would not shift properly. I took the bike to 951 Bike to get an adjustment on the rear derailleur. Richard tried to adjust derailleur, and after realizing the threads were stripped and he wouldn't be able to fix it. He called Shimano and was able to get it replaced for free under warranty. read more

Went to get a last minute bike Christmas gift purchase. The gentleman was very helpful and pleasant to speak with. Because of it being right before Christmas day there was not a lot of selection. I messaged again and the auto reply stated they were closed and would message me when they reopened. It's been two days that they've been open and I have not received a message. I always want to support local small businesses. I visited 951 and really liked the owner and shop. I asked if they could service my Vintage Schwinn Twinn rims, axles and hubs and they were happy to do so. I brought the rims on Tuesday, and was told to pick them up on Saturday. I went to pick them up and they weren't started yet. I was told to come back on Tuesday. I returned Tuesday to pick them and they still weren't started. I left and was given a text about two hours later saying that the rims were ready. I returned to the shop to find that the front wheel was not trued. The tech took the wheel and began to true it. He said that some of the spokes would not turn, so I asked if he put penatrating oil on them, and he said yes. Instead of removing the tube protector strip and spraying both sides, he just sprayed from the top. These rims are 40 years old and I don't think he had the experience to service them. Based on what I had saw, I asked about the rear wheel inner bearing condition, I was told that they did not service them! The owner told me that they sound really good. Wait, what!!! Sound really good? Again, these wheels are 40 years old and did not get inspected or greased, in addition this wheel has a drum brake that wasn't inspected as well. At that point I just wanted to get my wheels and leave. When I paid, I did not get an itemized receipt for the two tires, tubes, and service performed on my wheels. The service was pretty much worthless so in essence I just paid $149.00 for two tires and tubes. I don't mind waiting for repairs, just be upfront with a time-line. No problem. I don't mind paying for quality work. No problem. If you are not familiar with servicing vintage wheels or your technician is too lazy to service them properly, that's when I will write an honest review. read more

They did such a great job fixing two flat tires. They did troubleshoot to see if the tubes could be patched before replacing both inner tubes. We arrived within 30 minutes of them closing and they repaired it within 20 - 25 minutes. The staff working there that day were all really nice. First time going to 951, I needed to get my handlebars swapped on my road bike and considering the type of labor it required it wasn't an easy job. But considering that they still got it done in less than 2 days considering the amount of bikes were ahead of me and I was a walk in customer I'm definitely happy with the work and even happier with the finished product.
