Bill helped me for 1.5 hrs on the phone as we completely built out my '62 Schwinn Typhoon Klunker. He knows his bike specs and made decisions easier on gearing and suggestion of parts to use. Bill's a little intense so I understand why other reviewers thought he was rude but the truth is you have to be this level of ON to make this type of business work. He is just forward and busy. Not everyone is up to that level of interaction. I recently did an assembly of a Bassett Swooper 29" BMX that was ordered by phone and shipped to PA. Not only did the bike not have the correct components as ordered, but when I called to get some tech specs the owner yelled at me and then hung up. I asked a simple question so that I could be sure to build this very expensive bike to be all that it could be. The owner then sent me several nasty texts. I was very nice on the phone and was treated like crap. I would never recommend Bassett to anyone. Not because of the quality of the bike but because of the way they treat their long distance customers. The person I spoke with was the owner, Bill Holman. They did eventually come through with the correct parts and the finished product was very nice. Just not worth the mistreatment. read more

If you want a custom built top of the line bicycle search no more! I recently went to this bike shop and requested a crazy custom build on a 29er BASSETT BMX bike. The owner Bill was wonderful to work with. Right away he started the build sheet on his computer and asked me about every single part I wanted. We also went over the color of every part. I gave him a deposit and about a month later my bike was done. My build took longer than normal because I had to have some custom tabs welded to the forks. It's always nice dealing with somebody that is professional and knows what they are doing! read more
