    Pork belly

Came here for the "nice dinner" night of my bachelorette....and wow it was amazing! It's inside a hotel, oddly we were the ONLY table there on a Sunday night, but we didn't care, the 5 of us loved it. The service was phenomenal, the selection (although minimal) was great, the food was absolutely perfect and the desserts were just WOW! 2 of us had the T-Bone (5 out of 5 stars) 1 of us had the arugula salad (so fresh and flavorful) 1 of us had the pork belly (soooo amazing) 1 of us had the salmon (4 out of 5 stars, it was farm raised salmon) We shared the flatbread and for dessert shared the salted caramel cheesecake (to freaking die for) and the key lime pie (was good but I've had better)

*Miami Spice Lunch* Visited 5300 Chophouse for my first Miami Spice sampling of 2018 and at $23 per person this deal is very hard to top. The restaurant itself is within The Blue Hotel in Doral, a very spacious restaurant with a great looking bar just feet from the swimming pool. We appeared to be the first table of the day but at 11:30am it was fairly early for lunch. Began with the Arugula Salad which was even better than the description; fresh arugula twisted together with a cucumber and served with figs, feta, a nice raspberry vinaigrette and some extremely delicious roasted pecans. Next up for me was the Mofongo with Pork Belly and the Tropical Mahi-Mahi for my fellow food lover across the table. Both dishes were presented beautifully and with care. My pork belly was delicious; resembling a giant succulent Chicharrón, it was greasy, as expected, but ohhhh so tasty. The mofongo was slightly on the dry side which is why I believe the small bowl of chicken broth accompanied it. Drizzled over with the broth, it became much more appetizing. My friends Mahi-Mahi also came out looking fabulous; served on tostones with asparagus and a tropical corn salsa over the top. We were both blown away by how delicious everything on the table was. Finally the 4 layered white and dark chocolate mousse with bourbon cream sauce. Officially called the "Chocolate Genoise Trilogy" this mousse was so light and airy it literally melted in your mouth! Overall a nice quiet restaurant away from the hustle and bustle, with friendly staff and some amazing food.

So a group of 6 of us visited 5300 Chophouse for their Miami Spice 2018 lunch. I must start my saying that $23 really is a great deal. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, lots of natural lighting and is located right next to the pool of the Blue Hotel in Doral. To get in to the restaurant you must go through the hotels gate, as it is located inside. Now, my favorite part of any visit... the FOOOD. To start s my appetizer, I chose the arugula salad. And let me tell you, it was pretty yummy. It looks like a small portion in the photo, but its actually the perfect salad portion once you break it apart and mix it. I love the sweet taste of figs and raspberry with any salad. For the entree I chose the Mofongo with pork belly. It was really good, I can't say it was the best Mofongo I'd ever had because I would be lying. But it was definitely good, especially drenched in with the chicken broth. The pork belly was my favorite, it had the perfect crispy layer with the nice juicy fat right after, and yummm (as unhealthy as it is, I love my chicharrones). One of my friends also got it, and she felt the same way. Normally, my boyfriend and I like to share two different meals so we get a taste of more variety. In todays case, there was an exception. He chose the crab & lobster tortelli... I must admit it was not my favorite. We both found it to be bland and it did not by any means impress either of us or our other 3 friends who chose it as their entree. For dessert, we all chose the Chocolate Genoise Trilogy as it was our only option. This had great texture and I enjoyed the taste, but nothing that wowed me. Over all, in my whole honest opinion... would I go again? most likely not. Did I feel upset at overpaying for good food that wasn't great? No, luckily we had Miami spice and for the price I wasn't even mad. The service was not the best, but it wasn't terrible.

Will be bach more often!! Thank you Chef Brian for the delicious dishes!! You really love what you do!!! :).

I heard about this cozy restaurant and how they cook extraordinary dishes. So before my vacation come to the end I decided to check it out and it was one of the best decision I made in this trip. I got the Three eggs omelet and half portion of french toast and some hot tea to help with my cold. They have a very attentive staff the manager stopped by the table and so did the Chef. It's a very friendly caring people! I loved it! Who does not like attention right?!! I could not be happier everything was tasty and cooked to perfection. I wish I had more time to spare in here.!!. Congratulation to the Executive Chef Brian to my waitresses Azucena for the worm reception!! Thank you very much!! I see you guys real soon!!!:).

Upon arrival we were greeted by a nice hostess who sat us down right away, we had gone for The Mother's Day Brunch which was okay, nothing that I could not have gotten better or of equal in taste but half the price. I can't review the service as it was empty when we got there getting fuller by 12:30pm. Was not a fan of the shrimps as I found them not to be clean. I won't visit again. Nothing memorable.

Food was subpar at best. Ambience did not support their pricing. And, of all things when we got there, the air was off!! In Miami?? They had to have someone come to unlock the thermostat so they could turn on the air!! If I had not purchased a Groupon I would have been seriously upset.

Me and a few of my friends decided to go to 5300 Chophouse as we wanted to tryout their Miami spice lunch menu. This restaurant is located in The Blue hotel in Doral and it has a view of the pool next door. The ambiance is elegant and overall a nice feel to it. For the appetizer we had the choice of arugula salad or chicken enchilada soup. The soup had a nice array of flavors and we all enjoyed it a lot. At this point it all seemed promising. Three of my friends and I ordered the Crab and Lobster Tortelli and I was not impressed at all. The sauce was bland and the pasta itself was not flavorful at all. The whole meal was like buying refrigerated pasta at Publix and doing it yourself, actually there's a high possibility that the box from Publix would be better in taste. My girlfriend and another friends ordered the Mofongo with pork belly and i must say that they made the best choice out of all of us. It was good Mofongo, not the best we've ever had, but nonetheless it was very enjoyable. For desert we had the Chocolate Genoise Trilogy which was also okay, but nothing out of this world. Overall the experience was okay for the $23 for a Miami spice lunch. But in my opinion I don't think it's worth a second try or for more money,

Best mojitos in town - not that sweet but an big punch!!

The food here is so yummy!! First time here. They have great mojitos. Restaurant is hard to find - in a gated area in Doral at the Provident hotel. Beautiful hotel. We came early so it's a little empty but my kids get to make noise and bother anyone . Get the Cuba. Sandwiches or any of the steaks - one side dish included and the price is very reasonable for the atmosphere!!

This place seems like it is fancy when you arrive because you have to enter through the hotel gates but the service was definitely lacking. There were only three tables sitting including us and any time we wanted something we had to flag the waiter or waitress or hostess down to get something (no one was ever formally introduced as being our server and any time something came out it was brought by a different person). I do have to say the hardest person working was the person who seated us. I do not know if she was a hostess but she was bringing out food taking orders and overall picking up slack from the other three people on staff who only seemed to be gossiping by the bar. Now since it is miami spice month my friends and i like to sample everything on the menu so we each ordered something different. The best part of the entire meal was the arugula salad as an appetizer. The dessert was a close second because it was just the right amount of sweet but the other appetizer on the menu and the entrees were definitely not what i expected them to be. The soup of the day was vegetable soup and sadly it tasted like it came straight from the can. The mofongo and pork belly looked promising but was definitely lacking flavor, the pasta was tough and also lacked flavor but the garlic bread deserved a better meal to be paired with. I can't say too much about the Mahi because it was so salty that everyone at the table tried it in order to persuade our friend that it wasn't that bad but it seriously was. Maybe we went on a bad day but the overall experience of this place was bad and i won't be going again.

We came here for lunch after our massages and it was exactly what we needed! The bartender made specialty drinks for us which came out delicious! The food was also so yummy!! We got the churrasco flatbread, creamy chicken soup, and the club sandwich.

This was my first Miami Spice Experience and I loved it! The place itself is mediocre but probably because we were the only ones there :) Appetizers: I had the salmon fritters - they were ok but a little dry. I liked the mango sauce that accompanied it but only by itself. The pork sliders were very flavorful - reminded me of some good ol' Memphis BBQ. Entree: had the 5300 burger it was amazing! The Fried egg and the crispy, thick, yummy fries completed it! Definitely in the running for the best burger. Dessert: the Flan was Great!! It was creamy and thick just like I like it - one of the best I've had. The sea salt caramel cheesecake was good too - great taste. Overall I give this place a definite thumbs up! Will definitely be visiting them again!

Champagne…read morewas served as soon as we were seated, and we were also treated to a complimentary baba ghanoush, which was excellent. We started with the bone marrow appetizer, and it was truly outstanding -- incredibly balanced, rich without being overwhelming, and so good we couldn't stop talking about it. We ordered the steak and eggs. The crunchy brioche, earthy mushroom purée, and beautifully sliced steak came together perfectly, and the saltiness of the caviar tied everything together in a really thoughtful way. The picanha was another standout! incredibly tender and full of flavor. We paired it with the broccolini and wagyu fat potatoes, both of which were absolutely delicious. To finish, we shared the ube cheesecake empanada. We were a bit hesitant at first, but it turned out to be the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. The cocktails throughout the night were also excellent. We enjoyed the restaurant so much that we brought friends back later the same week. That visit was just as impressive -- we ordered the tomahawk steak, garden salad, bone marrow (again!), steak and eggs, truffle fries, broccolini, carrots, and tried all of the desserts. Once again, everything was delicious across the board. The only area for improvement would be the service. Everyone was kind and attentive, but at times too quick to clear plates and not proactive enough with the next course. At a restaurant of this caliber, I'd expect the dessert menu to be offered immediately after plates are cleared, rather than needing to track down a server. Overall, the food is exceptional, and we'll absolutely be back.

Overall, we felt that all the food…read morewas good- definitely had areas of improvement, What bridged the rating gap of the experience was the above and beyond service of the general manager Javier, our waiter and the bartenders. We chose the tasting menu at the counter. The execution of the initial dishes in the tastings were well seasoned. But quickly it was clear that given the restaurant was becoming busy and the food service and the drink pairings were not in sync. Part of a tasting experience is being wowed and enjoying the progression of dishes as you would a performance. Javier and our waiter in particular made sure by the end to ensure our experience was smoothed out. One note about the tasting experience is it lacked a certain level of finesse. While the service team did explain the dishes beautifully, it would have been nice for the chef to come out and explain even one of the dishes, especially with a restaurant that has the potential to share a rich background in history about the dishes and flavors. I found that to be particularly surprising that was not the case. In all of the tastings we have participated in (NY, Paris, Miami, Barcelona, Rome, Shanghai...) the chef has always come by even if for a second and it's in those moments that you really get a sense of the passion and the experience of a tasting. After all the origin story is the thread that would have pulled the elements together. It would have elevated this from an average to a more memorable experience. Overall, the food was solid, but regrettably not memorable. There are certainly elements that can benefit from workshopping (timing, chef engagement, consistent execution of dishes) however would be remiss if I didn't shout out Javier and our waiter for their receptiveness and making a positive end to the evening.

Upon being seated, we were provided with the regular menu and the Miami Spice Lunch menu. The Miami Spice Lunch, which has now become a daily Executive Lunch special, is a standout value. The portion sizes and the quality of the Argentinian steaks speak for themselves. As a group, here's what we ordered: Starters - Ham and Cheese Empanadas - Morcilla - Grilled Provolone Each starter delivered exactly what you'd expect from an Argentinian steakhouse. The empanadas were warm and flaky, the morcilla was rich and well seasoned, and the grilled provolone came out bubbling and perfect for sharing amongst our table with the restaurant's complementary bread basket. Entrée: - New York Strip Steak, 12 oz This was the only cut of steak we ordered. It was cooked to each of our desired temperatures and seasoned simply, letting the quality of the beef speak for itself. It is clear why La Cabrera has a reputation as one of Latin America's best restaurants. Sauces on the side, which included a BBQ sauce, and a chimichurri, were left for our choosing and were used for the side dishes more than anything. Sides: - French Fries - Jasmine Rice Both sides complemented the steak well. The fries were crispy and large in size. My father-in-law, a cuban man who's very serious about his rice dishes, thought the jasmine rice was very good. Dessert: - Dulce de Leche Ice Cream with Cone - Dulce de Leche Pancakes The ice cream was smooth and rich, while the pancakes were finished with a sugary powder coating that was impossible to resist. This lunch reinforced why La Cabrera continues to be stand out in a crowded field of steakhouses. Between the consistency, generous portions, and the value of their daily menu specials, it's an easy recommendation whether you're bringing family, hosting someone from out of town, or simply looking for a great lunch in Coconut Grove.

We started the night with amazing cocktails made by Julio behind the bar. This is my third time to this location and his drinks are always so good. The perfect balance of flavor, sweetness and alcohol. The food was perfect. I think these were the best Calamari's I had in a long time. The lemon and the sauce sizzle on top was absolutely delicious. The shrimp cocktail was filling too. It was huge. The best part was the dessert! The butter cake and the chocolate cake were exquisite! It made the night even better. The cherry on top was when the manager, Nick, came by to say hi. He's super attentive and it was a pleasure to chat with him. His team is so friendly and happy, I can only assume it's his leadership that nurtures this environment. Special thanks to Becca and Jesus to being friendly and happy. You guys made a difference. :)
