It's hard to find a seat here. Many suits and business folks, including IT folks, seem to like come here to "park." The donuts are nice (full of fat and sugar) but I prefer the savory goods. I know! My second visit to 49th Parallel was more successful than my first, as I got the doughnut I wanted! It might have been the messiest but best doughnut I've ever had. I got the Mango Passionfruit filled doughnut with bright pink raspberry icing. Pretty amazing. A bit challenging trying to eat without it dripping all over the place, but at the same time I didn't care as it was so good. Went online to find a flat white coffee - an Australian loves one when we are away from home. Totally the wrong thing served at this cafe. Firstly, why in a glass? It's not the standard for a flat white. Secondly the colour. There is meant to be silky milk. The avo breakfast sandwich is meant to come with arugula, not mesclun lettuce. Donuts were amazing! I had a blueberry filled and hubs had carrot cake donut, they were huge!

4 stars as the kitchen closes at 2pm. This location is super convenient and, despite being located in an office building, there is an effort to create a clean and cute aesthetic. They had decorations up to promote their Hawaiian themed food and drink selections, but the decorations were not tacky or obtrusive. Seating is not great for the amount of customers -- a heated patio would definitely improve the situation. I tried the ginger spiced chai, which was a great pick me up on a cold day. Some of the donuts were sold out by the time we got there, around 230pm, but there were still 4 options to choose from. The pistachio donut is a real treat and they don't skimp on the pistachios. Prices are really reasonable, comparable to Starbucks, but higher quality baked goods and less sugary beverages. I will definitely be back for the doughnuts! read more

Unlike it's other location on Main Street, this location serves hot food as well as their delicious coffee and Lucky Doughnuts. Maybe it was a Monday afternoon, somehow their doughnut selection was very limited. However the Chocolate Peanut Butter Old Fashion Doughnut was so chocolaty and yummy. (My usually go-to is the plain chocolate old fashion) It was paired wonderfully with a cup of soy latte. Their indoor seating is limited and is right in the office building lobby. This took away the small coffee shop charm of the brand. However just like their other location, they have plenty of outdoor space for you to sit and enjoy your doughnut. They even have a nice enclosed area in case you want to escape the hustle of the busy Thurlow Street. read more

We came here around 10am on a Saturday and there was a line wrapped around the corner towards the extended dining area. Line moves pretty fast though! I accidentally ordered the Avo sandwich instead of the avocado toast. It still came out pretty good! Probably much more filling too. I like that the buns are airy and they give a generous amount of avocados. Personally I'd order it again but prefer to have it without the jam. 49th was on my friend's must-try list so we trekked on over from our hotel in downtown. It lived up to the hype! Really enjoyed the Sicilian Latte aka Shakerato (iced version). This branch in downtown is awesome! Although it is not right on Robson street, there is a lot of customers having coffee and donuts here. We ordered a couple of latte. The flavour and texture were excellent! I wish I could drink it every day. It's interior design is similar to other branches keeping the consistency. Servers were great! I was waiting for my latte at the waiting area. It looked like a manger there who taught his staff how to make a cup of good latte. He looked very strict to staff but I understood that he would like to keep the quality and consistency with other branches, so they could keep a good reputation. I would love to drop by and get a cup of coffee or latte here next time. I highly recommended this coffee shop if you are in the neighbourhood. Better than Starbucks and Tim Hortons! read more

This place was hopping in the late morning of a Sunday. I was excited to have something better than the chain that has taken over the world. The photos of the donuts was really the tipping point not to mention the location was a block away from my conference. I had a piccolo which I learned is really a mini version of a latte or Americano. I wish the US would have this option - this is all I really needed really. For those who like strong coffees, this will wake you up in a hurry. It's a bit more than what I bargained for but it is coffee, after all, and I'll take strong over weak any day of the week. Maybe I'm boring but I wish that there were more plain versions of the donuts. I wanted an old fashioned and each had a funky topping or incorporation when all I wanted was a plain OF. In the end, I found it a bit too sweet and the mulberry way too overwhelming so it really wasn't that satisfying. With the donut being the side note, I will say this is a nice alternative to other the 'usual' coffee people seem to get and I found the place itself really inviting and full of a lot of energy, which was great to see. I was looking for somewhere to kill a few hours and get some writing done, and I'd heard that this was one of the better coffee places in town. Technically, I don't really drink coffee, but I do drink coffee-adjacent drinks. I settled on one of their daily specials, the Kulolo Latte, a coconut and taro latte. I also confirmed with the cashier te wifi situation--she said there was no password; just log into their "guest" network. I found a table--I didn't see any plugins anywhere, but I would be fine for a few hours--got my drink and logged into the wifi. First red flag: you could log in as a guest for 90 minutes, but after that it wasn't clear what would happen. The drink itself was a bit too sweet for me. Perhaps that was partly my fault, as they normally put two shots of espresso in it, and I asked if they could just do one. Perhaps the bitterness of the espresso might have helped, but as it was, it wasn't ideal. Also, the only way to get water is to ask for it. There's no pitcher or dispenser, and the glass they give you for water is TINY. Luckily, I realized I had a water bottle and started to refill my veritable shot glass of water myself. Ninety minutes came, and you do indeed get booted off the wifi, with no way I saw to remedy it (not even the ability to pay for it). So it's pretty clear that they don't want you to stay and work here. I wish the cashier had been more upfront and clear about that; I'd probably have gone elsewhere. In any case, it's a pleasant enough place for a conversation with a friend over a drink and a snack, but it's not for me. Two and half stars, rounded up. read more

Stopped by this Saturday morning and enjoyed a cinnamon sugar donut and a coffee. 2 stars off for the ornery, no-smiles young woman with glasses and short blond hair taking orders at the register. She had a lot of attitude when answering questions and was generally unfriendly. Each time I go back, I have to try a different one and I am easily impressed by the new ones that I try! Also, how can you go wrong if their COFFEE is on point. As a coffee roaster, they roast their own beans and source lots of their products from all over the world (helping countries in need). There is tons of sit down space inside and outside (I always sit outside) as they have a beautiful seating area. Just be careful with the donuts, they are to die for. Since this was a legit coffee shop that served the infamous Lucky Doughnuts, this won out. Location: Prime location downtown within walking distance from our hotel. Ambiance: Casual coffee shop vibe. Purely here to talk about how amazing the Avo sandwich is! I've had it twice now and the first time was better because of the egg. Although the price is steep for a breakfast sandwich (because, downtown), I like to justify it for myself that once a week I can afford to eat something nicer. I am determined to find out what type of bun they use next time because it makes the sandwich taste so much better - FRESH. The Avo sandwich also has other ingredients including a perfectly fried egg over medium, sliced avocado, cheese, tomato, arugula and chili mayo. Not a coffee drinker but I also just wanted to say, the long lineups at 49th parallel really makes you exercise extreme self-control as you slowly inch past the doughnuts. But it's not entirely a bad idea if you decide to pick one up with your coffee. My favourite is the lemon meringue. Mixed feelings about 49th. The food here is average and a bit overpriced. The coffee didn't taste that good and was expecting a better tasting cup of joe for all of the hype. I will say they do have some creative donuts. For $5 CAD you get a donut and a cup of coffee, which honestly isn't too bad, but then again the coffee wasn't that great. What we ordered: The French Cruller was by far their best donut! This donut was AMAZING!!!!!! So crispy, fluffy and perfectly cooked. Must must order! The Old Fashioned Chocolate Peanut Butter donut was good, I wouldn't say it was my favorite but it was worth the try. The glazed donut was horrible. Didn't taste good at all and it definitely was an old batch. Don't order this one. The Doug was pretty good. The eggs were bomb and were super tasty. A bit over priced. $9 CAD Last but not least, the Avocado Toast. This was terrible. The avocado did not taste authentic. I felt as if it were straight from a packet from the store. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I'm a huge fan of Old Fashioned donuts and have been crushed watching them fall out of style. That's not the case here at 49th Parallel, where they offer three different varieties of Old Fashioned. While $3.00 wasn't cheap, it wasn't unreasonable either. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? My Old Fashioned donut (Vanilla) was excellent, and it went brilliantly with my Ginger Spiced Chai Latte, which was equally divine. It's conveniently located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. It was a Saturday morning and the line was long, but well worth the wait. I was hoping to get an iced cold brew, but it came in a glass bottle. It's safe to say that it wasn't a fresh pour or brew. I would have like it more if they had a bigger selection of donuts. They don't always have everything especially the Main St location usually have a bit more flavours that the 49th Parallel Coffee shop. Their old fashion styles are good too. Salted Caramel is amazing but need to go with bitter or semi-bitter tea or heavier/darker coffee because it's really rich. If you're feeling Hungry or Hangry, you can even order we Lucky donuts. Huge. Very trendy coffee shop near all of the offices in downtown, so be aware of the lineup that may occur in the afternoons. I've only been here twice, but both of those times I had a pretty good experience. The first time I went I had the macchiato, but I didn't realize that it was the size of an espresso. Still tasted fine but i wasn't satisfied. I also had the pistachio doughnut which was so good. Today I ordered the Iced Venezuelan with a glazed doughnut. The Venezuelan tasted like if milk tea and coffee had a child. So so so good and not too sweet. I didn't expect to like the glazed doughnut as much as I did because I bought it for my little brother. I have a soft spot for 49th & Lucky's as I used to live right behind the one on main and was mainlining their peanut butter jelly donut and iced americanos. I was super happy to discover they opened something in the downtown core, not too far of a walk from the hotel. We had about 3 visits here, they open at 6:30 am, start serving their breakfast sandwiches/other goods at 7am. This worked super well for us since we couldn't seem to break from east coast time. Plus it's much nicer food and coffee than popping into McDonald's or Tim Hortons. Over the visit we had a bunch of donuts, salted caramel, cinnamon sugar, tiramisu, sour-doughnut, donut holes and a few crullers. The donuts are all delicious, although I feel like the first few cake donuts I had (salted caramel and cinnamon) weren't fried in hot enough oil and had absorbed too much of it. The cruller was the stand out and we just kept getting those instead. We also had the Cascadia egg sandwich a few times. (medium egg, bacon, cheese, tomato relish and honey mustard) That was a revelation in egg sandwiches for me. The tomato relish is EVERYTHING. I'm trying to find a way to replicate it at home because I don't think I can enjoy breakfast without it. Tangy and sweet, cutting through the richness of the sandwich and balancing it out perfectly. 15/10 would pay $7 for and eat forever. We also had some regular coffees, lattes, London fogs and ginger chai lattes. The London fogs were particularly delicious, but the chai wasn't very... chai. A little too subtle spice wise and fairly floral. Def still a favourite of mine, and perfect location for me as I generally stay downtown when visiting! read more

Right next to the Bayshore Westin, Six Degrees serves everything from generous sized healthy muffins to a delicious avocado toast with a poached egg, arugula with balsamic and Parmesan, accompanied with blueberries, strawberries and blackberries!
