This is nice coffee place at the corner of Thurlow and W. Georgia. They have a nice patio with plenty of tables. Inside is big as well. Crowd are professional, not a lot of students, mostly people who work downtown probably. I always liked their coffee. It doesn't have strong taste for the medium blend. They have lots of options when it comes to pastries and donuts. That's why I like this coffee company. And they are good sized too for the price. I like this place and recommend it when you are downtown. It's close to the water where you can have a nice walk before or after.
6/5/26 Bought two bags of beans to bring back home.. Coffee was dancing in my dreams ... after a very tiring and exhausting travel day home.. Back to normalcy, up early to grind.. Added TJ brown sugar oat milk creamer.. Oh my... how smooth it tastes.. Old School Espresso! Can't wait to taste the Organic Espresso Bio Nougats- dried dates- walnuts..
An update to my previous review. We heard that the London Fog drink was invented in Vancouver in 1997. Knowing how good 49th Parallel is with coffee I thought I'd try their version of the London Fog. I wasn't disappointed. In fact it was best London Fog I've ever had. I've had them at other places but I've never seen a preparation like 49th. They use loose leaf Earl Gray tea in a tall paper tea bag. They put the bag in your cup pour the steamed milk in and the tea steeps right into the milk. It's the smoothest London Fog I've had and isn't cloyingly sweet like many I've had.
I like this coffee shop, spacious interior and outdoor patio seating is available. They have decent quality food, daily fresh donuts, and it's located in the base of a corporate tower so it has this sort of professionalesque vibe. The baristas are super kind and their coffee is top notch! Was served quickly and had an enjoyable experience here.
This place was so busy when we walked in around 9am (it also happens to be cruise day and FIFA) so the line was long and it took a bit to get our coffee orders. Most of the staff were really nice but there was one girl that seemed to have a bit of an attitude or just seemed annoyed. My brown sugar shaken espresso with oat milk was made extremely sweet with barely any oat milk, so I had to get it remade. I usually hate to be that person but the drink was essentially undrinkable. The doughnuts looked so good and seemed really popular so I got the sprinkle doughnut and it really wasn't that great. I was expecting Krispy Kreme melt-in-your mouth texture but it was kind of stale.
We stopped by 49th Parallel Coffee in Vancouver and it was the first thing we ate after flying in earlier that morning. I was in need of a snack and this was a short walk from our hotel. 49th Parallel is well known for their thoughtfully sourced, house-roasted coffees and their cult-favorite donuts, but they also offer a small menu of sandwiches if you're looking for something more filling. It wasn't too busy when we got there, though most of the tables were taken. We ordered a mix of sweet and savory: the chestnut brûlée donut, a salted caramel old fashioned, and a couple of breakfast sandwiches--the Doug and the Cascadia--both served on soft, buttery brioche buns. My other half also grabbed an Americano to go with it all. The chestnut brûlée donut was my fav of the bunch. The chestnut flavor was perfectly balanced--nice and light. The sandwiches were also good, especially thanks to that pillowy soft brioche. Overall, 49th Parallel was the perfect stop for a small, simple snack! Would recommend.
So I got to try a super delicious vanilla latte with almond milk thanks to 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters and loved it! I was in Harvest Wagon on Yonge St., Toronto and was offered a complimentary coffee of my choice made by friendly sales rep, Manon. The blend is called Old School Espresso and I immediately loved the rich flavour. Manon added the perfect amount of vanilla syrup so it allowed me to enjoy the fantastic coffee bean flavour much more. And the latte tasted even better with each delicious sip! It was a nice unexpected treat that made my day!
i'm a sucker for strawberry matcha lattes, and consider it more as a summer treat, but this one completely shifted that mindset. the holiday feature sign for the strawberry matcha caught my eye outside 49th parallel on thurlow, so of course i wandered in. it was about 2:30 pm on a thursday and the café was already busy, a steady lineup forming while rows of donuts on display sat looking far too tempting. the space has that bright, open vibe, located inside an office building with tall ceilings, warm wood accents, soft hanging lights, marble tabletops, relaxed and inviting even with the bustle. the drink itself was a whole moment. in the clear cup, the strawberry purée sits at the bottom like a bright red ribbon, the matcha layers above in a gentle green swirl, and then a thick cloud of cold foam settles on top. the red dusting over the foam adds a simple but festive touch, almost like a holiday themed iced matcha. flavour wise, it's surprisingly balanced. the strawberry purée mixes in easily, adding a soft sweetness that lifts the matcha without taking over. the matcha is mild, not too grassy, and the cold foam gives it that creamy, decadent finish that ties everything together. every sip hits that fruity, earthy, creamy mix, refreshing, but with a cozy energy that suits the season. overall, it's a lovely seasonal twist on a drink i already adore. if you're into matcha with a bit of fun or want something that feels both festive and refreshing, this strawberry matcha latte is definitely worth a stop.
Large space for joining friends for a chat and good times. Donuts & assortment of food items are available. Lines are often long but moves quickly. Indoor & outdoor seating. Restrooms require a key that can be obtained from the security counter in the main lobby. Iced mocha is delicious & keeps me coming back. Location is easy to find on the corner of Georgia & Thurlow.
I was staying at the adjoining hotel and this spot always seemed to be busy every time I walked past, so I knew it was worth a try! The shop is rather large, with ample seating inside and even more patio seating outside. You enter and are immediately enticed by the indulgent doughnuts from Lucky's Doughnuts. It took every ounce of my willpower to resist the crème brûlée doughnut, it looked amazing! I placed my order of a large dirty Ginger Spiced Chai with almond milk and noticed that they only accept credit. Totally fine with me, but good for others to be aware of. After adding a shot of espresso and swapping for almond milk and a tip, my total was north of $10, which I guess is to be expected of a downtown coffee shop, but still on the pricier side. My drink was up in a matter of minutes and because it was a chilly day, I opted to enjoy it inside. It is velvety smooth and has a slight spice, but it's missing the kick that I look for in a really good chai. I was expecting that since it's a ginger spiced chai, which I figure would have made it on the spicier side. It was still a very delicious drink, but I've had better.
large outdoor seating area that was very clean and cute. large indoor area as well. they were really nice and helpful and quick. i just got the mango passion fruit bismark and blueberry lemon bismark which were both 10/10. flavor was spectacular, custard was perfect in every aspect (texture was great and not too sweet). donut itself was little dense but otherwise very great donut! highly recommend and they were beautiful too!
Such a beautiful cafe! The coffee was excellent. I got try their maple sea salt latte and it was so good. This was the redeeming coffee shop in Vancouver as I was beginning to lose hope in finding a good coffee shop in this area. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, with very tall ceilings, lots of greenery, and the cutest part is that their color is Tiffany blue so all the mugs and cups and even the coffee bags are the prettiest blue. lots of indoor seating, and even more outdoor seating, and it is super close to the waterfront and walking distance from the financial district. I would definitely recommend this coffee shop if you're in the area and you are looking for a delicious treat. We also got to try some of their breakfast specialties, including the Doug sandwich, and the avo sandwich, which were both very filling and delicious. As a bonus while we were at the café, the US rugby team also showed up and we got to see them which was pretty cool!
Why 5 stars? Because I'll never forget that beautiful Old Fashioned Salted Caramel. --- --- --- We were on a 5-day vacation between Vancouver and Banff, and it is not an exaggeration to say that the old fashioned was one of the best things I ate on the whole trip. We didn't even necessarily plan to visit 49th Parallel, and I definitely didn't plan on ordering a donut, but it looked so appealing that I couldn't pass up the opportunity. And I'm so glad I didn't. It was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the perfect flavor. If I lived nearby, I would have a dangerous addiction to these delightful slices of heaven. Unfortunately, nearby... I am not. I also enjoyed my coffee and my salmon bagel very much. But the salted caramel old fashioned stole the show. Bless you, donut chef.
Without a large enough vessel to craft a wet Cappuccino (yeah hubby is fancy) barista made the most AMAZing latte with extra foam. Thick crema heart, topping a robust roast, went down an absolute treat. Lucky's chocolate old fashioned donut was very crisp all the way through the crumb and super sweet for a low-sugar regulated palate, but as the hub's treat, he devoured it, happily announcing it was the most expensive OF he'd had, eliciting a huge smile. Makes for a great start to the day ;) read more

A friend had some leftover coffee from 49th Parallel and after I tried some, I was immediately intrigued by the unique taste and texture. When there was a second chance to grab coffee, I took the opportunity to get a drink myself! - PARKING - Street parking available, although we were staying in a hotel nearby so we walked over! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Really cozy interior, and I was immediately captivated by the beautiful teal blue color of their logo and cups! You line up along the glass display cases showing their baked goods and donuts (super tempting, they know what they're doing), which gives you time to peruse before you get to the cash register. Cashier was super friendly and sweet! After ordering, it didn't take more than 5 minutes to get my drink. - DRINK - Iced Venezuelan Coffee w/ Oat Milk ($6.35, +~$1): There's only one size for the Iced version of the Venezuelan Coffee, but I'm usually more of an iced coffee person so I didn't mind. The cashier did note that because their reduction is made prior, that couldn't be adjusted to be non-dairy, which was totally fine, but I appreciated him saying so! The flavor and texture of the Venezuelan Coffee is such a unique milky, smooth experience! I thoroughly enjoyed my drink and I'm honestly going to have to try to recreate this at home because I don't live in Vancouver! - OVERALL - If you're visiting Vancouver, I'd say to try the Venezuelan Coffee. If you live in Vancouver, I'm extremely envious of you! read more
I got introduced to their coffee by a local from Vancouver during the 10 days we were there, and we have been to this location 3x during our stay!! Their coffee is aromatic and delicious and oh my gosh, their donuts are decadence!! There are few 49th parallel locations but this is my favorite because well I've only been here and it's also because they have Lucky donuts here. Their donuts are sooo good and so beautiful! The service is also quick and friendly and they make your drinks and food pretty timely! The only downside to this location is it's on the ground floor of a business building and there are not that many seats indoor. There are plenty outdoor though. I would highly recommend for their delicious coffee and donuts and also the location (close to tons of shopping) read more
I visited at about 8:30am on a Wednesday in hopes of grabbing some donuts. And wow, I was NOT disappointed. They have a ton of really really yummy looking flavors so I had a hard time choosing my flavors. I LOVE vanilla frosted donuts with sprinkles so that was an obvious choice but then I asked the waitress what she preferred and she recommended the dirty chai so that was my second choice. I LOVE donuts so trust me when I say that the vanilla frosted and sprinkles donut was AWESOME. It was all o ever wanted from a donut. I was really let down by the dirty chai, it tasted a bit like it was rolled in coffee grounds so it had a mildly bitter taste that turned me off but that didn't take away from the donuts as a whole. I'll definitely be going back to try another. read more

Nice place for breakfast. I actually stopped both mornings I was in Vancouver. I really enjoyed everything I tried. Just be aware - unless you order a donut it takes a while for your food to be ready. I like that it is fresh but it wasn't as "grab and go" as I anticipated. There's some seating inside and a lot outdoor. It was nice to sit and people watch. read more
Let's say it's a Sunday morning, you've been out partying in Vancouver, you're staying at, or near the downtown Fairmont, and you're sleeping with your window open because they don't have air conditioning until summertime, and it draws nigh unto 8am. The cacophonous donging of bells that begins at 7:55 and lasts A FULL FIVE MINUTES until 8 final dongs at 8 am, is to be looked upon as your warning that 49th parallel is about to open for business, and you should get your butt over there for a freshly baked Lucky donut and some Venezuelan coffee. Only a few hardy souls in line this early which meant I had to keep letting new people go in front of me while I pondered which 5$ donut I wanted. (Bc frankly I wanted them ALL). Even though the store smelt heavenly of cinnamon as the baker was just dressing the cinnamon rolls, the Mmmm Donut kept drawing my eyes... when the girl told me it was their most popular with a strawberry glaze, I knew it was meant to be. I literally moaned "Mmmmmm donut" ala Homer Simpson as I took my second and third bits in rapid succession. In fact, my gorgeous morning brew sat unmolested until I had power eaten the donut in totality. This medium Venezuelan coffee is everything other reviews have said, absolutely rich, perfectly sweet, and delicious. Don't let the dong's get you down, people! Let the bells lead you not into church, but into 49th Parallel for deliciousness! read more

Around 3:30pm on a Monday, we had quite a long wait behind one person. The cashier had a friendly smile, took our order for a .25 cent water and a $5.7 large Venezuelan (caramelized milk reduction, double shot espresso, steamed milk sprinkled with cocoa powder) and explained where the (somewhat) distant bathroom is. Inside seating was full, so we sat outside, under an awning, near an overhead heater. I was hoping for a hot, strong espresso drink with caramelized milk. It's actually a very sweet, warm, milky drink that's more like a dessert than espresso. read more

(Written by my 13 year old) Greetings fellow food hunters! Today on our doughnut tour of Vancouver, the first place we hit up was 49th Parallel Coffee. Delicious and somewhat nutritious, we got 4 different doughnuts. Personally, I enjoyed the plain vanilla bean one bc I'm a bit humdrum.. but anyways! The wait was pretty long, but it was such a cute cafe with only a few seagulls! I would say the wait is worth it though, the doughnuts are eating and leaving NO crumbs, whatsoever, 0% crumbs. So..... yuh! No cap, this place gets my stamp of slay. read more
Luckily we discovered this coffee shop early on during our trip. We ended up going out of our way to pick up this coffee because it's that good! My favorite was their iced latte with almond milk and they have a good selection of donuts including gluten free and vegan options. Only downside is that they don't serve matcha lattes and they no longer serve housemate non-dairy milks but they were still have the best espresso beverages in the city. Tried other locations as well, and the drinks are consistently good. read more

Coffee shop located within the lobby area of a tall corporate-like building. They sell Lucky's doughnuts, which seemed to be the primary reason a lot of people were visiting. There was a decently long line to order, but the staff went through orders fairly quickly. I ordered a maple nut donut and iced Venezuelan coffee as a snack and sat at one of the tiny tables to enjoy them. The donut was honestly way too sweet for my liking, and a bit too much dough to topping ratio. The iced coffee, however, was mildly sweet and very refreshing. I quite enjoyed this one and would probably only return for the coffee, not the donuts. It's pretty downtown so likely very difficult to park, so visiting by foot would be the easiest. read more
Great selection of awesome looking doughnuts (Luckys) and the fact that you can do a drink + doughnut combo is cool, helps you save some cash! Got the peanut butter and jelly doughnut, iced coffee, the cinnamon bun and a peppermint tea. Personally, I found the doughnut I got really chewy, I wouldn't say dense or heavy. Flavor wise, peanut butter wasn't too strong and the jam sort of melded in to the dough, so it was "soggy"-esque. The cinnamon bun was chewier, dense but I personally preferred it to the doughnut because the taste was so much more cinnamon-y. Iced coffee was ok, didn't have the flavor components that were listed on the menu (citrus, floral, etc.). Service was friendly. read more
Paired the maple sea salt latte with a pistachio donut. Simply awesome. The latte w the sea salt is an interesting and different touch. Very nicely done w near latte art. Donut wasn't super sweet. This is the pairing recommended by the barista and it definitely worked. The donut itself is less pillowy and dense. Different style than what I've had before but it worked well. The pistachio glaze wasn't overpowering and a lot more pistachio vs sugar glaze. Service was awesome and the vibes are cool. Definitely worth a visit. read more

How perfect to be staying about a 5 minute walk away, 'cuz 49th Parallel has some of the best coffee I've ever had. Lovely service, smooth and rich mochas and lattes. But the Lucky Donuts!! Holy crap, best I've ever had, and believe it or not, both were vegan and gluten free. I highly recommend the maple vanilla and pistachio chocolate. Both moist and dense and so delicious. The maple vanilla had a wonderful coconutty edge that I loved. read more
Don't be deterred by the line! On a Friday morning this place was an absolute zoo. But luckily the line moves very fast. And despite the crowd there was a ton of indoor and outdoor seating available. They have a bunch of savory sandwiches, but for my first try it seemed like a donut was the move. And let me tell you, this donut did not disappoint. The pistachio was pure perfection. So sweet and crunchy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside. I only had one but could have easily downed another. The cold brew was strong and enjoyable. Donut flavors are plentiful, and I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with any. read more

This coffee shop gave off some great vibes and had pretty solid choices for breakfast--I did get confused with prices because I kept forgetting it was in Canadian dollars and not USD. The space itself was great. Good ambiance and in the summer (or whenever weather is not rainy) they have a significant amount of outdoor seating. Unfortunately it was rainy and a bit cold, so we had to fight for some seating inside. Luckily got a couple of seats before our food was ready. I got a regular coffee to drink in the restaurant (delicious!) and it went with a breakfast sandwich for 11 CAD. Pretty good price for great coffee and a sandwich. The sandwich was good--i got the Avo sandwich which had some really great flavors. However, the bread was a bit over toasted so it was a bit bitter. My friend got the full breakfast and it was quite a lot of food, and she said it was also quite good. Overall, pretty good spot. Try to come when it lulls in mealtime bc there could be potential issues with seating if you need to be inside. Loved the Tiffany blue color of the cups and walls. read more
Love the location but really hate how long you have to wait to get a table! I've always loved this place but it was my first time at this location. The place was jammed pack but my girlfriend and I were lucky enough to get a table. As usual, their coffee did not disappoint. And the best thing about this place is their donuts! I've been crazy about long John so that's exactly what I got for myself. Creamy, moist and decadent. My friend ordered a maple donut. I had a bite but it was extremely sweet for my palate. Overall, great food and good customer service. read more

49th Parallel Coffee is unparalleled in this city! The first time I checked out this sweet cafe was in Sept when I was in town for a half marathon, and my husband and I absolutely loved it! So come Dec, we're back in town for some Christmas and winter festivals, and of course, we make a point to come back twice more! First off, thank you to Patryk who was so friendly and personable, and who started our days with smiles all around! Second, here's a list of everything we tried & shared during the 3 mornings we stopped in (all delicious!): Avocado Toast Vegan Banana Bread Currant, Ginger & Lemon Zest Scone Toast with Almond Butter & Fresh Jam Don't forget the Lattes and Flat Whites with their Organic Sicilian Almond Milk! This is the special kind of fresh-made, high quality almond milk that we do not mind paying extra for. They also offer an Organic Tuscan Hazelnut Milk! If you happened to ever watch the series Chef's Table, there is a great episode in season 4 about an Italian chef, Corrado Assenza, who helped save almond farming in Noto, Italy. Having seen this episode and knowing about the almond farming in Italy made us appreciate the fact that 49th Parallel adds this extra special touch of organic, Italian goodness to their menu. Grazie mille! Oh, and if you're looking to read a review about the donuts, sorry to disappoint, but I don't eat donuts. Hands down the best most amazing old fashioned donut I have EVER had. Worth whatever walk you have to take to get, or bus ride or seataxi. Just get there. Oh--and the coffee ain't bad either. Get there. read more

I come here for the sweet scone and the atmosphere. It's just a nice place to hang out. The tea is good too, as are the donuts. Downside is sloooow wifi, so don't plan on doing videoconferencing here. read more
Great breakfast location. We had a Tim Hortons across the street from our hotel but decided to walk 5 minutes to this location. Well worth the 5 minute walk. We had the Doug sandwich and several donuts. The Doug was great, soft and fresh bread. Tasty eggs and caramelized onions in the sandwich. We had never tried this place before, but the donuts were great. I got the Blueberry Earl Grey and it was one of the best combinations of flavors I've ever had in a donut. Unique and would recommend for a quick breakfast bite. read more

The donuts were too sweet for my taste and honestly it was not that great as well. The filling ratio to donut was too much and for the ones which had rings, it was good but it seemed like I am over paying of them as they were so thin. Please refer to the pic I have attached to understand what I am saying. I would still try flavors I like and give them a second chance to make sure it's not the assorted ones that made my experience sour. May be they have others which I might like. Will update the review when I do try another ones. read more
