I ordered each of the roll just to sample. The Vegan Chicken is a great option. The sauce marries the fresh rolls and protein. As part of their opening, they gave me a free pan-dan waffle. OMG. I tried this place for the first time since I heard about it. I got the pho tai gau and shrimp & pork spring rolls. Pho tai gau- decent, the broth was a bit too salty but it hit the spot. The little bag given with some leafs, jalapeños (only had one slice), and lime were all wilted- the lime also had mold. Safe to say I didn't use any. Shrimp & pork spring roll: not the best, but were still good. The peanut sauce was good too. Overall, a cute place that offers desserts as well. I don't think I'll be coming back though. read more

i really do like the relaxed setting of a neighborhood outdoor picnic-like location where one can enjoy a quiet lunch. Such a peaceful respite can be worth its weight in gold. I like everything about 3rd&Loma except for the rice paper wrappers on the House Spring rolls. I've been spoiled by being introduced to spring rolls in a long gone restaurant and they were the best that I have ever had, but here the wrappers were so rubbery it was difficult work to eat the rolls. Was the texture intentional? I checked for information and discovered that "Refrigeration is notorious for drying out rice paper wrappers and making spring rolls rubbery, so fair warning that these won't be quite as supple as those freshly rolled". The menu did indicate "crispy". The peanut sauce that went with the rolls was outstanding but all in all, I found them too pricey for such a flaw. Bf thoroughly enjoyed the 3rd&Loma vermicelli bowl (cardboard box) and its sauce. I can see this as a sweet spot to get a spot of ice cream on a warm afternoon, unfortunately or fortunately, the air was too cool and crisp for that today. At least something was crisp and better it be the weather. 12/2 Yelpers are confirming that the tough rice wrappers indicate that the rolls were not fresh. Be sure to ask that they be freshly made. read more

Tonight I was craving a bowl of pho, so I walk my dogs to this place and order some to go. I don't usually order pho to go because it usually doesn't hit the same. 3rd & Loma's bowl of pho did not disappoint. First of all the soup was still hot by the time I got home. In fact, the raw meat (which I ordered) cooked up perfectly when I added the soup. The noodles weren't all mushy because the steam, they were aldante. They gave all the correct condiments (without even me asking: basil, jalapeño, a choy, lime, siracha, hosin, etc). Broth was flavorful and hit all the right notes. The customer service is poor. It was our first time here. There are two small windows that you are supposed to order, so it is not very welcoming. I've been here twice now and I love it!! Both times I had the vegan spring rolls and the vegan bowl. The vegan spring rolls are super fresh with a great ratio of noodles, veggies, fresh herbs and crispy vegan chicken. Honestly these are my favorite spring rolls from anywhere! So I gave them a shot. It's good but they barely gave any meat and very little broth. It was also a little pricey compared to other places. I almost didn't want to order because of their prices. My cheap quick fix spirng roll go to in E Long Beach has been Lees ( I know but it is close!) , my spend-some-money go to-go-has been Bau Plu- but 3rd and Loma beats Bau Plu - not even close! Crunchy- fresh and THREE big rolls- I always ask for extra peanut sauce at Bau Plu (which they charge for)- first time here and I asked for extra here too ( wow- no charge)- but the one peanut sauce here was so much bigger!!! You do not need a second sauce. Also loved the carrot and sauerkraut garnish! Only problem is I want to come back to try the bowls...but will I be able to pass on the spring rolls???? It's a 5 minute walk from my place so it's great to have a healthy option nearby. $14 for 3 rather tiny roll is very steep for spring rolls so I only go here when I'm in a pinch and need something light and fresh quick. Service is usually slow since they're made once they're ordered so I just order online and pick up. The bowls don't come with a lot of protein so I would avoid them all together unless you're okay with eating mostly noodles. read more
