Took 30 minutes to get out food - gla I got a dozen yummy oysters to hold me over! TIP: when bread is brought out twice you know the food is too slow to come out! Two levels of fixed set meals - good idea in concept. The Oso Bucco on the menu was replaced w beef ribs or something??? It was 630!!! The food - two people had chicken including my wife, and both said it was dry! My seafood stew was just ok w lots of broth and a good amount of clams but nothing else made a dent! Once the seafood was gone I was left with a bowl of broth??? No spoon no dipping bread ???? I did have the potato and leek soup - yummy! The server opened the second bottle of wine and poured it into a glass if wine with wine left from the first bottle. Not a good move!! Been wanting to try this place for a year and finally got chance. I had the braised short ribs and date had the seared bacon wrapped scallops so I got to try both. The presentation for both plates was very appealing and made for a better experience. I brought my own wine and they charged a $15 cork fee for each bottle which is not bad at all. I also ordered extra sides of asparagus, and clam chowder. Since they knew I was sharing appetizers I thought it was nice they split them in half without asking. Good touch on customer service. I thought the clam chowder was a bit thin for me though. I expected it to be just a bit richer and the flavor was a tad bland for my taste. The device was overall good but they could have been a little more attentive for a place supposedly on the higher end of seafood places hence the 4 star rating overall. I'm glad I tried it so I could cross it off my list but not sure if I would come back. I met up with some college roommates for lunch at 333 Pacific. The view is amazing, especially if you sit on the outside patio. You get a really nice view of the beach and pier. Food was good (I recommend the crab shrimp lobster cake sandwich), but the service does not match the atmosphere, nor does it match the prices. We constantly had to ask for refills, and our waiter ended up forgetting to give two of us utensils. I wouldn't go out of my way for 333 Pacific. Dropped in here with the missus for happy hour a couple weeks back. Service is great. Happy hour prices are decent and the drinks are made well. We managed to get a spot that had an ocean view. Only complaint is they seem to have packed a ton of seats into the place, but didn't leave much room between them. When it's crowded it's . . . cozy. Let's face it we are "all over it" with this past year. With the obvious stated, going out for a nice meal is a challenge for industry folks and patrons. The gentleman who answered was lovely and encouraged us to make our way to them for some version of a short wait, low stress dinner. 30 min later without a reservation we were seated in a cozy corner. Ben was our server, he was on point. Cocktails were delicious, food amazing {dozen fresh clean oysters in the half shell, small appetizer shrimp ceviche, lobster salad and petite filet mignon}. All delicious. Slapped down a generous tip for Ben in hopes of communicating how much we appreciated the visit from start to finish. 333 pacific figures out how to adapt to non reservations and we appreciate it. Having moved out from San Diego to Orange County - I am so glad that a pretty decent restaurant can be found almost in between to meet up after work for happy hour with friends. They had a great selection of appetizers and drinks for $7, a beach view (winter sunsets are the best) and a pretty exceptional service. The only criticism I have is I wish they would offer the happy hour prices from the bar to your dining room - but who's to say that you can't just go ahead and order before you get seated. My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday and boy did this place not disappoint. We started off with the tempura vegetable basket and some of the Gouda Mac and cheese the mac and cheese was amazing and the vegetables were very tasty and we got a ton of food. We ordered two specialty cocktails. I got the peach bum which was super girly and sweet. Just how I like it and my boyfriend got the orange blossom. He said it was super strong. Sunday night dinner. They had a wonderful deal on a Surf and Turf (8oz filet and 6oz lobster tail). The lobster was fresh and the steak was cooked to perfection. We also started with a ahí stacker which is a tower of Ahí, achacado, mango and rice at the bottom. This was a fantastic plate to share and they are very generous with the ahi. Fun martini options- I highly recommend the Haiku and the Moscow Mule which are both savory but go down easy. Martini's are $7 at happy hour and they have different specialties in the lounge everyday. When you sit in the dining room- the food is just okay and most of it not worth the price. We had the panzanella salad which was good but way overdressed and the lobster mac and cheese which tasted burned and had those awful baby shrimps in it (and I think the crab may have been imitation...gross I know). My boyfriend had the Yellowtail Coconut Curry which came in a generous portion and [luckily for me] was enough to share. Just got back from 333. I did the $33 three course meal and am bummed because of the $$ I dropped for what I received. The highlight of the meal should not be the table bread. Atmosphere and view were fantastic, and fancy, but I can't exactly eat it. It took for-ev-er for our courses to come out. We were there for over 2 hours and they took our order in the first 5 mins, and it took us about 10 mins to eat, so that leaves... a lot of waiting time. They also brought out the wrong food but remedied it, which probably added onto the time. Two apologies that night. Uhh potstickers were good, vodka martinis were good, steak was good. This is the second time I've eaten here and both times the service and the food have been superior. This time I had the beef short ribs. They were incredibly tender and melted in your mouth. Upon request the chef came out to provide the recipe. He was very kind and was evident that he is knowledgeable regarding foods pairing and prep. My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary so we wanted to go somewhere special. My wife got the filet mignon and I got the 333 filet Trio and added crab, it was the best steak and crab we have ever had. The crab was as long as my plate and the steak melted in our mouths. 333 Pacific is undoubtedly the bottom of the Cohn Restaurant Group, which is sad, because they are trying so hard to bring quality food service to North County. In the three times we've eaten there the food has been inconsistent (sometimes prepared perfectly, other times poorly) and the service has been polite, earnest and painfully slow. The last time we had lunch there we didn't get one bit of our food until, after waiting over an hour, we asked the waiter if he could cancel our order so we could leave. Only then did it begin to trickle out in jumps and starts. By then the meal was ruined for everyone. Being big fans of the Cohn Restaurant Group, (especially The Prado and Island Prime) it's a bummer to have these experiences at 333 Pacific. I had the BEST martini ever at 333 on Monday June 6th, we grabbed a seat in the lounge. We tried the Orange Blossom martini with elderflower vodka, the Toasted Macaroon martini and a small taste of the ROOTBEER Vodka. The martinis were only $7! The flavors were on point, the service was helpful and happy. We ordered the shrimp/crab/lobster nachos ($13), they were phenomenal - great size to share and the flavors were amazing. We arrived at 6:30pm and happy hour ends at 7:00pm, we had plenty of time to order and visit while enjoying the stellar sunset. Great place to go for a good steak. Pricing is high but it's an upscale place. Was able to watch the Sunday night football game and get a great filet and sides. Friday's lunch on 8/17/2012 was very disappointing. I've been here several times, but the quality was not up to par on this occasion. I ordered the crab, shrimp and lobster cake sandwich with fries. The slaw and salsa overpowered the sandwich with a heavy vinegar taste and it was so wet it made the bread roll unpleasant to eat. The fries were a zero on the scale and I should have sent them back. They were overcooked and limp (not at all crispy), they had probably sat under a lamp or other eating source too long. My guest ordered the lump crab hash & eggs. It was ok, good flavor but not a home run. I'll return, but will send my food back if a similar situation arises. I expect much better quality from 333 Pacific and a Cohn Group restaurant. read more

My girlfriend and I ate here Saturday evening June 20th. Within an hour of leaving the place we were both sick with diarrhea that lasted all night. We had the oysters, California roll, she had the salmon and I had the 3 steak dinner. It was not food poisoning as we were not sick. Clear that and you are in for a treat.We showed up 10 min late on Friday night due to a concert in the area, but we were sat immediately at the table I requested. Our server was absolutely awesome. A little bit of a tight squeeze. The martini's were okay a little weak and we ordered the calamari and Brussels- both were swimming in sauce. Which I don't care for but my friend did so it's up to you the flavors to me were drowned out and mixed together. Made a big mistake in choosing this place to celebrate my wife's birthday. I can't say enough about how terrible the service was, which was especially disappointing because I called days in advance to let them know we'd be celebrating a birthday. Reserved a table online and requested patio table three days ahead of time. Let them know it was for a birthday. Called the day-of to confirm time and patio request, and was assured patio table. Arrived and was seated inside in a vacant section of the restaurant. Asked to be moved to the patio, hostess rudely told me they never guaranteed me a patio table. When I told her I had called ahead and was assured a patio table, she responded with something like, "I don't know who you talked to, we don't do that." That set the tone for the service we received throughout the evening. Our waiter largely ignored us all night aside from taking our dinner order. We had to get his attention several times to get anything, such as a side that didn't come out with the food even though we ordered it, and some wine my wife's mother ordered. Always had an attitude that we were an inconvenience. At these prices that's simply unacceptable. When you pay $60 per person for a scoop of wilted lettuce, 8oz of beef, and a spoonful of mashed potatoes, the majority of the $$$ is for the atmosphere and service, which was nonexistent. "Everything happens in three's", "three time's a charm", "three's a crowd"...the number "three" is sure mentioned a lot! That's why when I saw the name of this restaurant, I assumed it had some underlying significance, like it was the owner's lucky number. Actually, 333 Pacific is just the name of the street it was located on! (I never read into things that much * wink! *) However, 333 Pacific did score a Hat Trick with Julius and me, meeting our three criteria for a top-notch restaurant. Criteria #1: AMBIENCE Before even walking into 333 Pacific, I couldn't help but feel a little giddy. It was located right smack in front of Oceanside Pier - automatic romance! Julius and I arrived right before sunset, and with the silhouette of surfers against the silver ocean and orange sky, it looked right out of a scene from the Endless Summer movie. Now, we've given restaurants high marks even if they were located in a hole in the wall, but an oceanfront restaurant will always score buku brownie points with me! From the street, you can already see that the placed was jam-packed. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you practically walk into the bar/lounge area, lit up with purply-blue neon tables with warm, glowing lights overhead and a wall boasting every brand of vodka. While I kept an eagle eye out for seats at the bar, we sat at the lounge area across from a cougar and next to an overly-affectionate couple lol. 333 Pacific's ambience was energetic, lively, and fun...perfect! Criteria #2: SERVICE When I found a couple of seats at the bar, we were served by a really friendly bartender who took the time to introduce himself and make an attempt at small talk. It was super busy that night, and if I didn't see him and the other bar staff pour drinks at break-neck speed, I might have been upset that it took him a while for him to refill my wine glass. The food we ordered came out pretty quickly though. Our bartender made up for the wait by over-pouring my Chardonnay, and saying, "Oops!" However, I was pretty drunk by this time already, Julius had to help me down it all! But I'm not complaining Criteria #3 FOOD 333 Pacific is a part of the Cohn Restaurant Group, known for their trendy, borderline eclectic menus. We've been to practically every Cohn Restaurant and enjoyed each one's food, so we were pretty confident 333 wouldn't disappoint either - and it didn't. We started off with oysters on the half shell. We wish they were a tad larger, but at least they were fresh and the ground horseradish that accompanied it was a nice touch. My favorite was the tempura veggies served standing in a wire basket with trio of sauces. The vegetables were firm, and the tempura was light and buttery - not oily or soggy whatsoever! We also tried the kobe potstickers (not a big diversion from the taste of regular potstickers you'd get at a dim sum) and the shrimp & blue crab ceviche. The shrimp were succulent and the crab added a unique texture, although it could've used less citrus juice. The side of wonton chips were the best though! So all-in-all, 333 Pacific hit all of our three main criteria. I'd come back for the sunsets and the veggie tempura, but most of all for the extra long pours of wine! read more
