OMG! I'm a huge breakfast fan and this place has nailed it! The food was delicious, fresh & done right. The Early Bird Sandwich is so freakin good, the egg nice and fluffy (made me a little worried when I seen it), bacon nice & crispy, the perfect amount of avocado & mayo! My son had the New Mexico Burrito it was also really good! For coffee I had the Nutella Latte and it was the perfect balance of flavor, not too sweet so it was perfect for me. I can't wait to go back for happy hour (6am-6pm) WOW! A little tip if you are going when it's extremely hot outside, they have very limited indoor seating but a very nicely shaded outdoor area. Be prepared to sit outside no matter what time you go! Overall I really love this place! read more

I'm beating myself up for not visiting 32 Shea sooner! It's a hidden gem with a drive thru but doesn't have a drive thru, rushed vibe whatsoever. Went during the week and in the morning when it was slightly busy. Great service was not compromised and I was greeted with a smile and asked if I needed any recommendations. This is how I came to have cold brew with their house made pistachio syrup which was super tasty. Not overly sweet and I'm craving this again today! So I had to write about it! I got a vibe that a lot of regulars visit 32 Shea as I witnessed patrons sitting down and immediately being asked if they wanted "the usual" I like that a lot! People working on their laptops, and even doggies on the patio by the waterfall. It is small inside, however the patio will be great in the cooler months ahead. I plan to revisit soon for an evening glass of wine. read more

The restaurant has been sold, so I will reserve judgement of that for 6 months to see what the new owners do. Good things I hope. Update: September 18, 2018 I stopped in for a martini before my daughters volleyball game. I sat down at 4:14 at the bar and it wasn't until 4:20 someone acknowledged me. And they were two feet from me. The girl begins the bar/coffee machine did not know how to work the espresso machine, so I do t have high hopes for my Martini. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. I was told the new keenest were going to make improvements when it was sold over a year ago. I see no changes. But I am glad to report that my martini is ok. I have moved away from the neighborhood, but my daughter is still at the high school down the street, so I thought I would still come by. Not sure I will. I will give it one more try. Update to my update. Same day. I sat next to a woman at the bar who ordered the tuna melt. It used to me an opened face sandwich on toasted bread with melted cheese. This sandwich was on focaccia and the cheese was cold. She was sending it back as I left. read more

Disappointing.... the eggs on my breakfast sandwich looked and tasted sort of like a sponge. The bacon on it seemed like bacon bits. The eggs looked similarly strange on my father's avocado toast. My brother and mother had the bagel and lox... The fishy smell from the Lox was less than appetizing. I know takeout can be tough, but this was pretty bad. I would not go back as there are numerous other options that I would prefer. read more

We usually go here for coffee (because it's delicious) but we had a few prescriptions to pick up at Walgreens and needed something new for dinner so we decided to try their food. BEST DECISION! It tasted phenomenal! We have a few GF members in our family and they loved it! It tasted so good they thought it wasn't actually gluten free (it was though). This is now a new spot for us, we will be eating here on the regular. Madison helped us today and she was so great very helpful and the service she provided matched the amazing food 100%! 5 stars ALL around! Nice work! read more

I wish i had taken a pic of my gluten free hummus avocado sandwich today but i ate it SO FAST! Such high quality ingredients, perfect proportions of creamy and crunch textures on the most divine gf wheat bread perfectly toasted. I cannot wait to come back, but it will be very hard to decide what to get, i could eat that hummus sandy every day for the rest of my life! but the rest of the menu looked just as tasty! The staff was lovely, attentive and working hard! They clearly enjoy what they do and help eachother out. It was a small space but the energy was immaculate; a truly calm and welcoming atmosphere. Decent local coffee spot with a few limitations. The outdoor area is inviting but has a new-agey vibe with a giant Buddha statue, music and mist sprayers. Free WiFi is good and, if you like strong coffee, you'll probably enjoy the drinks. My friend consistently orders only the Nutella Mocha. One disappointment is they don't have heavy cream. That may seem oddly specific and not really matter for many people but for the keto folks it would be a nice plus. They have a few food items that I haven't tried but seem to be decent from the looks of those having them around me, and the drive through is a convenient option. I think the vibe is more pronounced than the coffee but it's worth a shot if in the area. It could also be a good spot if you're working virtual or taking online courses and getting antsy sitting at home. All in all it's not a bad local spot and worth a shot if you're nearby. read more

I love this place! They have great food and service for breakfast lunch and dinner. The drive through is quick and always produces fresh and delicious food. Definitely my favorite place to go especially since the vibe of this place is great. All of the plants and flowers and the decor is beautiful. The patio is especially beautiful. They allow dogs on the patio which was great for me because I have two dogs that I take everywhere with me. The reason I gave this place a 4 stars instead of five is if you get there to late they begin to run out of stuff. By late I mean 7-7:30pm. Especially if you try and order the special like the burger and shake Wednesday night or the tacos Tuesday night. They also do not serve breakfast lunch and dinner all day which is ok just not ideal. However, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! It is a great place! Love you guys 32 Shea! read more

Probably the nicest patio in the area. Sadly this is not the place to try and work remotely if you need to ever be on a phone call. The music is blasted like a dance club (not making this up its extremely loud) and unfortunately they are unable to control the volume. So if you dont require to be on the phone, its perfect. Food is solid across the board. Again, in this zoom remote world, this patio is a no go for working remotely if you need to be on the phone. read more

This place is such a cute little concept. The actual building is quite small but they have a larger patio area and a drive-thru. I've heard great things about it so I wanted to try it, I went around the lunch hour. I ordered the BLT with avocado and a side salad, it came on Chibatta bread which is one of my favorites, it was very good I just wish the bacon was a little bit less cooked so it wasn't quite so crumbly, it kept falling out of the sandwich. Otherwise very tasty. I also got a Nutella mocha which was amazingly decadent! I will definitely return, very quaint. read more

We were driving down the 51 and needed a caffeine fix, sure enough 32 Shea was 2 minutes out of our way! I hopped on Yelp and started stalking the photos to see what the regulars order. Again, we stopped to grab coffee and $20 later we are eating a breakfast burrito, pineapple coconut muffin and I'm chugging down my Nutella mocha. The service is quick and they sure do hustle, I don't feel rushed ordering either which is nice because at some coffee joints they are so anxious to move onto the next guest. The breakfast burrito is not anything to write home about, it does seem microwaved and the guacamole store bought, just my opinion and didn't stop me from eating it! The muffin was delicious and coconut packed! If I ever return to the area and happen to stumble upon 32 Shea again, I would re-order the Mocha which isn't too sweet of your worries about sugar. I'm a regular customer here, and usually it's on point. Today was a disaster. If I wasn't in a hurry to get to work, I would've gone back and asked for my money back. I waited 25-30 mins in the drive thru for the New Mexico burrito. I was overcharged for sub egg whites and sub turkey, yet I still only got bacon. My cycling group loves to stop for coffee and breakfast here. The menu is limited, some pastry (which is so-so). I like the breakfast burrito that comes with a very "garlicky" green dipping sauce. I love the green iced tea. Service is friendly and food comes a fairly quickly. Prices are also reasonable. The seating is limited inside (a few tables). Outdoor seating is nice when the weather is good. Not sure we'll be going in the heat of the summer. I love the vibe - a nice Zen water fountain, surrounded by cinderblocks with tiny succulents planted in them, and an eclectic playlist of background music. The crowd is non pretentious and diverse, which is refreshing for a Phoenix suburb! read more

32 Shea is a cute little building. Its patio is covered with trees and it feels like you're somewhere secluded in the middle of a forest. I really loved this spot and how they use local ingredients and make great food. The bacon cheddar waffles are only available on the weekends. Usually I don't order waffles because I don't like them too sweet. This was perfect for me because it was a savory waffle with rosemary infused syrup. The waffle had big hearty bits of bacon that would gave a satisfying crunch. 32 Shea was a really fun place- I suggest going for breakfast after a good hike on the weekend. read more

AT LAST A REAL COFFEE SHOP. I'm so sad I didn't try 32 Shea sooner. I've lived in Scottsdale about 10 years now and having originally been from Seattle, I take my coffee serious. I know, I know but what about Starbucks? I'll pass on that burnt cup of mud. Dutch brothers? I frankly don't like the cheesy banter while they practically climb in the window of your car to act like you are BFF's. So, I finally pulled into 32 Shea and ordered A caramel macchiato. Not typically what I would order but what the hey. That cup of beautifully crafted art gave me a bit of home again. Need I say even better then s*x haha but in all honesty I will make it a point to ONLY get my coffee crack fix from 32 Shea from here on out. So sad to say this, but things have changed here. Let me start off by saying we have loved this place for years and don't typically write negative reviews - especially for special local shops like this one with lots great folks behind them. But the past 3 times we have encountered problems. Missing items, extremely burned toast, etc. Today's example: We always order the Yummy Yummy in my Tummy which on the menu explicitly states: Yummy Yummy in My Tummy | 3.5 Warm Nutella + Fresh Bananas on Toasted Bread Simple right?? Nutella, bananas, bread. As you can see in our photo, they substituted the Nutella with peanut butter. (We weren't notified). Normally not a big deal, and we are pretty easy going - but this kind of stuff keeps happening and it's a bummer. read more

History

Established in 2011.

This location served as a drive-thru photo lab in the 80's, then was transformed into a coffee shop in the 90's. In January 2011, it was turned into the first day/night establishment offering all 3 meals, breakfast, lunch + dinner plus cocktails and a modern urban vibe. This urban cafe has been transformed into an flex concept with days that feel like a espresso bar / cafe, serving local beans, breakfast + lunch. You can order through drive-thru or inside. Then after 4pm, the cafe transforms! The atmosphere is dark and cozy with candles, table service and funky vibe. The patio is dog-friendly and offers misters in the summer and heaters in the winter. This place was built for the neighborhood + there are lots of regulars, LOTS!

Based on how this place is described and marketed, we were expecting an intimate, vintage-feeling evening where we could sit down, have a cocktail, listen to jazz, and enjoy the atmosphere. That was not our experience. There were definitely things we liked. The location was great, the overall theme and decor were beautiful, the lighting created a great atmosphere, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was also very good. However, the entertainment was a huge miss and completely took us out of the experience. We walked in and the band was performing "Genie in a Bottle," followed by other current/recent pop songs, Backstreet Boys songs, and "Creep." The singer was repeatedly screaming into the microphone and encouraging everyone to scream and make noise. At one point, while sitting in what is supposed to be a speakeasy, we were literally listening to him sing "creep" which is one of the most depressing songs of all time. It felt much more like being at a loud dive bar or country bar than an intimate 1920s inspired speakeasy. My biggest issue is that the entertainment did not match the experience being advertised. You can decorate a room beautifully and make it look like the 1920s, but when the soundtrack is "Genie in a Bottle," "Creep," and Backstreet Boys songs being loudly belted into a microphone, the illusion disappears pretty quickly. The noise level also made it difficult to simply sit, have a drink, talk, and enjoy the space. We specifically chose this place because we wanted that relaxed jazz/speakeasy experience, and that simply wasn't what we got. The cocktail selection was another disappointment. For a speakeasy-style bar, I expected a stronger selection of specialty bourbon and whiskey cocktails. The prices also felt excessive for the overall experience. On top of the already-high prices, we paid a $20 entertainment cover ($10 per person) specifically for the band. I wouldn't have minded paying a cover for quality live entertainment that fit the advertised atmosphere, but the artist was not particularly impressive and, more importantly, the music didn't fit the theme at all. There is a lot of potential here. The space itself is beautiful, the service was good, and they nailed many of the visual details. Unfortunately, the entertainment is such a major part of a speakeasy experience that it overshadowed everything else for us. If you're specifically looking for jazz, flapper-era music, and an authentic-feeling 1920s speakeasy atmosphere, I would not recommend this place based on our experience.

Some Restaurants Chase Instagram. Some Restaurants Chase Flavor. These days it feels like half the restaurant industry is trying to make food that photographs well enough to become your profile picture. Then there are places like 32 Shea, quietly focusing on the radical concept of making food that actually tastes good. I stopped in before work to grab a breakfast burrito to go, and wow... it absolutely hit the spot. The ingredients were fresh, the proportions were spot on, and every bite felt intentional. No giant pile of potatoes hiding a microscopic amount of everything else. Just a well-balanced breakfast burrito made by people who understand that ratios matter. And the salsa? Outstanding. The kind of salsa that makes you wonder if you should start drinking it directly from the container and then immediately realize that would probably be frowned upon in public. Somewhere between the first bite and arriving at work, I had what can only be described as a zen-like breakfast experience. For a brief moment, traffic disappeared, emails didn't exist, and all was right with the world. The service was friendly and professional, the atmosphere felt bright and welcoming, and the patio looked like a great place to spend a slow morning when you're not eating in your car before work like a breakfast goblin. I'll definitely be back to try lunch. If breakfast is any indication, 32 Shea is doing something right. read more

As a Phoenix native, back for the holidays, I was looking forward to enjoying an old favorite of mine. I I used to frequent 32 Shea when it first opened, and since moving away, make an attempt to eat there at least twice whenever I am back I town. I was looking forward to a quality meal in a lovely atmosphere. The restaurant was a little empty, so I was expecting maybe a softer atmosphere, but to my surprise, the manager seemed to just talk louder at her employees. My cocktails were prepared incorrectly by the same manager who seemed more eager to close up early than to pay attention to the patrons. I was unclear as to who I should order from as people informed her she had a diner and she just ordered the others to do tasks for her, while she reminisced about drinking and talked about leaving for her new job. She infantilized her employees as though talking to small children, when some of them seemed to be older and more mature than her. The food, per usual was amazing, but the single individual who seemed more than happy to be gone and starting a new job while brushing all responsibility off onto her employees, all but ruined my meal. Next time I will stick to the outside seating area. Thank you for continuing to provide quality food! read more

Um, how bout no stars!!! Since the owner of this place has no class! Her name is Rebecca, and I'd pick having herpes over spending 5 seconds in her establishment. She's extremely rude, couldn't make coffe with an istant coffe machine, and has no idea how to run a business!! If I were to ever decide to go to this place again, I would only go if she became a silent partner. Nah, still wouldn't go! It's sad, because her male bartender, josh, he's amazing! Hey bec, hand the keys over to josh and take a hike! Sure, they have a good bar and coffee menu, but if josh ain't there, keep on truckin! The food is waaaaayyyy over priced, as is the drink menu! I started going to this place with friends, and they were extremely mistreated by her. After just hearing this, I signed up on yelp, and put out a good warning to everyone to not go there ever!!! How does she expect to keep a business if she keeps being so rude to everyone that steps foot in there! I hope this place closes down. Keep your money and your patience! First let me say this little place is adorable. I have been a fan since the first time I walked in. The coffee is done well and the vibe generally is pretty comfortable. I could go on and on but the reason I am writing this review today is because there is one ongoing issue. I come in once a week at least and bring people as often as I can. Unfortunately for me and the majority of my guests we are not young and attractive. On numerous occasions I have gone in and been ignored for minutes while waiting for the young man with the beard to pay attention to me. He spends a lot of time talking to the young ladies, which is perfectly normal, when you are not at work. Other times he won't look up from his phone until he has finished what I can only imagine are very important conversations. I know he has a social life but I wish it came second to his job. I haven't been in for a few weeks and I felt like I owed the owner an explanation. I will be back, maybe not as often, and maybe not while he is working. read more

32 Shea in Phoenix is an absolute gem, offering a charming neighborhood vibe and a fantastic outdoor patio. The sausage, egg, and cheese croissant is exceptional. Served warm and sliced in half, the pastry boasts a flaky, golden-brown exterior and a buttery crumb. The savory, well-seasoned sausage patty pairs seamlessly with the fluffy egg and melted cheese, delivering a rich and comforting texture. Accompanied by a crisp, ice-cold tumbler of iced tea, the beverage provides a refreshing coolness that cuts through the richness of the croissant. From the high-quality food to the relaxed café setting, 32 Shea delivers a thoroughly satisfying meal. Highly recommended for anyone craving a delicious bite in the area! read more

GREAT neighborhood place. Took my wife on a date 2 weeks ago and I havent been able to write a review till now. It was our first time there and enjoyed the atmosphere both inside and out. We sat on the patio which was really neat. Our drinks came out via a charming server and were DELICIOUS. We noticed a chef picking herbs in their herb garden and asked what was for dinner. He'd prepared a poached fish with mashed cauliflower that we HAD to order. It was OUTSTANDING and perfectly cooked. I dont even like fish but I'd go back for that. Good place and great food but good lord at the staff. This Browen one pretended not to see us every time we needed something. Just dropped our food on the table so it spashed up on our clothes and then had the nerve to follow us out of the place bitching because we only tipped her an undiserved 18%. She tells us how 30% is expected and 25% "the law". Then she starts cursing at me and my husband threatened to call the cops if she didn't stop blockng our car door then the psycho actually called him a pedophile. I'm 52! The grilled New York strip arrived first, its charred edges releasing a smoky perfume, perfectly accompanied by tender baby bok choy with a subtle bitterness that balanced the steak's richness. Beside it, the pork belly noodles promised comfort and delivered with generosity--the noodles tangled with hearty, tender pork belly that surprised with its substance yet satisfied completely. As the evening drew to a close, dessert appeared like a whimsical encore: coffee donuts. The light-as-cloud beignets were tossed in flavored sugar, releasing a soft, sweet scent that mingled with the bold aroma of the Vietnamese coffee dip. The first bite cracked gently, then melted, the warm dough and coffee indulgence a perfect final note. Our server Colter was an excellent conductor on our delicious ride. His suggestions were both thoughtful and helpful.

We had a last-minute change of plans after our previous dinner reservation elsewhere didn't work out, and we were trying to find somewhere to celebrate our son's birthday on a busy Saturday evening. Despite being in the middle of the dinner rush, they graciously accommodated us, and we truly appreciated it. Our server was informative, attentive, and incredibly fast, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the hospitality was outstanding. They helped turn what could have been a stressful situation into a really special birthday celebration. We're very grateful and would definitely recommend this restaurant. We look forward to coming back!

The service is always friendly, the portions are generous, and the value for the price is excellent. Most importantly, the food is fresh and delicious. A special shoutout to Andrew*, Miguel and Cassie for their outstanding service they always make the experience even better. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect experience this visit was because the chicken with my chicken and waffles was a little dry. That said, I've eaten here plenty of times, and it's never been an issue before, so it's definitely not a dealbreaker. Overall, it's still one of my to go spots, and I'll absolutely keep coming back.

When I sat at the bar, I immediately got service from the bartender with a smile. The booze selection was very limited. I paid $21 for a Woodford Rye on the rocks. You can buy an entire bottle for $35 at your local grocery store. There was a nice clear cube I suppose. We ordered the cajun rubbed wings. We receieved six wings and were charged $18. I said that it was happy hour and the bartenders said that they gave me the regular order of wings anyway because they did not give me a HH menu. Apparently on HH (and if you possess a HH menu) you only get three wings. The bottom line is that the wings were chewy and tough and the Togarashi Ranch tastes like feet. We asked for regular ranch and they brought out miracle whip. The Tomahawk Pork chop sounded great, but after the wing issues, we bailed to cut our losses. The friendly bartenders did reduce my wing pricing to match the HH menu. The service was actually quite good and I like the folks behind the bar. I just don't like the way they run the restaurant. HH food is supposed to be a better value - not portions cut in half. The Togarashi Ranch is either a poor recipe or badly executed. Everything is wildly overpriced. I suppose if your traveling on an expense account, it doesnt matter. If you're spending hard earned dollars, go to a restaurant - not a hotel. Five stars for the folks behind the bar. Zero for management / food.
