I went to 3 Dollar Bill for a drag show and I honestly had a really good time. The service was really good, and the show was great. The drink and food I got were great too. What I had a problem with was the bartenders and their made up prices per person. When I first went up wot one guy, I was paying once price, and getting really good drinks. Then when I went to another guy, it was a different guy and not great drinks. I opened up a tab with the original guy, but somehow by the end of the night my bill made absolutely no sense I was waaay over charged. The organization in the back is messed up for sure. I would love to come here again, but am in fear of being gouged at bar. Guess I can only come with cash? Seriously, people cautious with your cards. Wouldn't trust them at all. read more

I can't give a completely honest review because I wasn't even let through the door. It was my very first time coming to this venue because I came for the Open To All event. I was extremely excited to attend my first ballroom event especially as a black person. After waiting in line in the cold for about 15-20 minutes (it was like 28 degrees) they finally start letting us in the door at 11:30pm for an event that starts at 11. I get to the door and security takes my ID keep in mind I'm grown...I'm not an early twenties girlie I'm clearly grown. Unfortunately because I don't drive I didn't notice my ID was expired. The way how the security and then later on once I called 3 dollar bill handled the situation was very off putting. Security wouldn't let me in because my ID is expired as if it was fake. She scanned it. Nothing was wrong with it except I needed it to be renewed. You would swear they were a cop and I was driving on the road with this expired license. Also let's normalize not asking ppl if they have their passport because seriously get bent. I'm not randomly carrying my passport to the club you jerk when I have an ID. My friend and I both new comers to the venue and event both were shocked. So we stepped out of line and decided to wait and see what was going on. I watched as security let in a person(Caucasian of course cuz I guess black ppl can't be trusted) who didn't have a valid ID inside of the venue. They showed them a receipt for an ID. Not an ID. Not a picture of an ID... A RECEIPT ON THEIR PHONE! And the security guard(assuming cisgendered woman) with the locks really let the person in. I even told the "manager" I spoke to after I left. They said entrance is up to the discretion of their hired security. I said you have no idea if that person is underage because your security didn't scan an ID for them. Meanwhile they did scan my id and could see it's not fake or anything of the nature just needed to be renewed. What does the renewal of my ID have to do with me entering an establishment I'm way over the age limit to enter. So if I doctored a receipt and came back I would've been let in? Absolutely ridiculous. The manager I spoke to went as far to say the flyer says valid ID. Ive followed open to all's Instagram for a long time. For months I've just been waiting for the right monday to attend. The flyer HAS NEVER mentioned ANYTHING about having an up to date ID. It says 21+ an age group I'm obviously a part of. It doesn't even say it on the 3 dollar bill website. The "protocol" doesn't make sense! As an establishment that is for marginalized group of people I would think you all would be more fair. Treat everyone the same. If you want up to date physical IDs to enter then apply the rule to everyone! read more

The bar and bartenders are cool. The show was complete garbage. Oscar and the crown was more for people celebrating being artistic than actually putting on a good, cohesive show that people could actually follow and understand. No one knew what was going on... everyone looked confused with a dazed smile on their face. It was a jumbled up and gargled mess to be honest. You could barely hear what they were singing about due to the bad acoustics, enunciation and everything else. They also reference a murdered child in the show which was disturbing, especially since my friend and I had no clue why it was relevant because you couldn't follow a damn thing they were saying! The casts friends were there to support and have a good time I guess so I can celebrate and appreciate that aspect of it. The food in the outside area was phenomenal. Points are lost for the show. Everything else I would come back for but definitely will avoid their shows. read more

Went to the NYE 2 Rave party on January 31st 2019. Got there at 10:30 my boyfriend and I ordered 2 patron margaritas which cost 32 for both plus tip normal NY prices, the thing is right after the drink was served my boyfriend spilled the whole drink and he went to the bartender and asked if he could have another because he didn't even try it and the bartender said okay, buts it's not going to be patron we where still like okay, he made the drink and we tipped the bartender... my boyfriend finished the drink and got so sick, dizzy and throwing up everywhere we had to leave at 11:15 pm after paying $160 to get in. Either the bartender is putting drugs in the drinks or they are using tainted alcohol, I was perfectly fine after drinking my margarita patron but the drink the bartender gave my boyfriend sadly got him very sick. read more

A totally fun and diverse crowd of misfits hang here. And I loved it. They have a good happy hour. But when we went around 8 pm we were too late. We had double tequila sodas for $16. A bit pricy for Brooklyn but the pour was heavy! Thanks bartender. Anyway, they are doing a show on Thursday nights called Oscar at The Crown. It's a very quirky performance full of movement and music. Be prepared to move and dance as the stages and cast rotate around you. The space is clean and beautiful. Warehouse vibes. Off the beaten path but right off the L. Looks like they change their nights up with different events and themes. Check the schedule online before heading over! read more

They take the pandemic seriously here. Your temperature is taken before coming in, mask wearing is enforced. You can take your mask off when eating and drinking, obviously. Outdoor seating is spaced out, and not crowded. Drinks are great, and strong. Food is yummy. DJ is amazing. Fun place and will be coming back. read more

3DB has covid safety compliant events and bartenders who are friendly and make excellent drinks. This was one of my favorite queer nightlife spaces pre-pandemic and I'm so glad they are safely and slowly reopening. I highly recommend this place. My only criticism is that some DJs are not aware of how the sound levels are in the actual dance space and the music is always super loud and has terrible mixing. But that note is not super bad, it's still a 5 star venue to me. read more

I have been to soooo many bars in NY but I can honesty say this has been the funnest and best experience I've had at one. Nico was the best bartender I could ask for. Me and my friends came on a Sunday and he took great care of us. Let us play whatever music we wanted, let us take pics with him and just let us have a great time. Friendly and fun queer bar near the Montrose L stop. Super nice bartenders that make delicious dirty martinis and a great DJ playing cool stuff like Sia, Robyn, and Hercules & Love Affair. Upon my second time visiting this establishment for a special event on Valentine's Day night for the Retro Factory's Voulez Vous Encore event. This is one of the largest proper dance clubs in the city as of 2020. The ambiance makes you feel fabulous! The bartender were very good and handled the crowd well. The unisex water closets were well lit and surprisingly comfortable. The crowd that night was as fabulous as it was went I visited for Retro Factory's "Flash back to Studio 54" event. Unlike the first visit, this time I was extremely well dressed, keeping with the "Moulin Rouge" theme. Both times I visited the music was mixed by Bright Light Bright Light, who really took the dancefloor on a journey with so many selections I never heard anyone other than myself play! Both times the clientele was were well dressed and friendly and ready for a pleasurable time, perhaps more so the second time. The space is excellent with enough room to dance and have performances as well. The volume of the music on the dancefloor is as loud as other large dance clubs I went to in years past, comfortable for dancing but not conversations. Coat check is very reasonably priced. I advise is to use a for hire car service like Uber or Lyft when coming and going from this club because it is not near any subways where you could easily go further into Brooklyn or back into the city. I would visit again for another similar event! read more

Wow very impressed. I was reluctant to go out during Covid, however, when you arrive at this bar they take your temperature. They are no joke you are not allowed to enter until they take your temperature. Once inside they have in a very strict mask policy you must be wearing your mask at all times. Even if you're sitting at a table with food and drink you must be wearing your mask. You can remove your mask if you're actively drinking or eating. This establishment takes it very seriously, I even saw the owner going around enforcing the rules. I've got to be honest, I was blown away by the seriousness of the staff took to ensure the safety of the patrons. This was the second weekend in a row that I've come here and I have to say, its one of the most safest places I feel going to, and the best part about this place is not only do they serve drinks they also serve food and have some sort of entertainment and being outside is a win-win for everybody. I absolutely love this place! What amazing people who work here and the set up is ideal. The dance area with the stage for the VIP's and queens is a must. When I was dancing I felt like I was in Ibiza surrounded by all this incredible sound and energy. The crowd is mixed which is definitely a relief. All ages and races, everyone is super friendly. They have a food hut in the back, with lots of benches and a separate smoking area. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We met a lot of great people there. I didn't appreciate the $15 cover charge, but other than that it's a great club. The dj was absurdly amazing!!! The music was great and the crowd was extremely responsive. It's only a couple blocks away from The House of Yes, so when that becomes too crowded or too much for me. I'm going to head over to my new favorite bar with slammin music and lots of space to dance.
